@ cruisez Why don't you try switching it with one of their authorized dealers or returning it back to where it was purchased and getting another one ? |
MileMaster Rep in Nigeria is based in Yaba, Lagos. I have also spoken with him. Their wholesale prices to their dealers has never changed. The only dealer that has maintained the N6000 RRP is one guy in Ikeja. All other dealers sell above that price. Konga has only aligned its prices back to where they started from. |
@adanny01 Chairman. A semi-synthetic / synthetic blend going all the way to 10,000 miles ? Would strongly advise against it. Can the additive pack last that long? Better to be safe than sorry. |
I remember they started selling for N6100 when it came out. It moved to N7100 when konga started charging 15% commission and now has moved to the present price because konga now charges less than 5% commission. Their prices on jumia are higher. I learnt jumia charges 20% commission. |
Interestingly the fully synthetic Hardex 20w-50 version is sold for less than N4000 on Jumia. At that price makes you wonder if they are really fully synthetic. As more awareness is being created on 5w-20 and 5w-30 oils there would always be importers who would take advantage and import conventional oils and put them in gallons that have stickers suggesting they are semi-synthetic, synthetic blend, or full synthetic. We all need to do a bit more work in identifying the correct viscosities and brands to use. A good starting point might be to contact the oil manufacturers and establish if they even export their oils to Nigeria. You might discover that someone is just copying their products and bringing them here making all sorts of claims. |
@OP Read earlier posts. I believe there are no less than 3 people on this thread that have used MileMaster. On another thread there is someone who has done 6000 miles on that oil. I think his username / handle is adanny. |
Konga uses third party courier companies who charge so they must pass this on. |

Motorcraft oil filters are sold online on konga. They are bundled with MileMaster Oils. Denn: |
@ oluseyioba Contact Solutions Plus. They import milemaster. They can send it to you by overnight bus. Their numbers are on their website. |
Bossmd:The oils that you will buy from a Honda dealer in the US are Synthetic Blend. There must be something Honda knows that we don't. Semi-synthetic oils (also called 'synthetic blends') are blends of mineral oil with no more than 30% synthetic oil designed to have many of the benefits of synthetic oil without matching the cost of pure synthetic oil. Motul introduced the first semi-synthetic motor oil in 1966. Lubricants that have synthetic base stocks even lower than 30% but with high-performance additive packs consisting of esters can also be considered synthetic lubricants. @OP your car calls for a conventional 5w30. You can use that, a semi-synthetic, or a full synthetic. Its your money. Go to konga. 5w30 is available in Castrol & MileMaster.

Konga has reduced what it charges as commission. So sellers / vendors have adjusted their prices accordingly. I also noticed that konga now delivers for N500 within Lagos and N1000 outside Lagos. |
Hello All, I just noticed that MileMaster Oils are now being sold for N6000 on Konga. Seems nearly all their service packs have also been adjusted price wise. |
sooperrescue: The Op is right. Following the manufacturer's specifications is the norm. But can you advise someone in Kano or Maiduguri to do so? Using 5w 20 is good but it is not all of these oils that are synthetic. What the Op should tell us is if we are to use synthetic or conventional oil. I saw a litre of Mobil 1 made in America, and their best grade was 5w30 with GF 5 and 2 dexos. I dont see that with the Mobil 1 being sold in Nigeria. So when a Car manufacturer recommends Mobil 1 in America that has anti sludge protection, and you now bring it to Nigeria and because the Mobil 1 label is pasted on the car, you use Nigeria's Mobil 1 without the anti sludge protection. Is the Manufacturer's specification ideal? Ikenna also knows the politics with TOTAL and Peugeot. Can the oils in TOTAL Nigeria's stable work very well with Peugeot's new brand of vehicles? No.! Go through TOTAL's website and you will find strange engine oils that they claim is being sold here but actually, we have never even dreamt of it. So they expect a 408 to use Q9000 when there are superior oils from their stable in France that is recommended for the 408. Is the Manufacturer right? Oil has grades and 5 w 20 and 5 w 30 are limited to 35 degrees. 5 w 40 or 0w 40 can give an engine a protection of 50 degrees hence all our local players are producing the 40s oil but when you have the gf 5 and 2 dexos oil type, a 5w 30 gives 50 degrees protection. That is the type of oil that the manufacturers recommend and not the conventional and semi synthetic oils that are being sold in Nigeria.Conventional and semi - synthetics are also recommended by Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Kia, Hyundai, to mention a few. Check your owners manual again. |
CityNG: Peruse the article and form your own individual opinion. Thanks.OP's post suggests that we follow manufacturers recommendation. I can't understand why that is dangerous hence my trying to get clarification on what you meant. All your posts in this thread are in line with what the OP is saying. So I am a bit confused when you suggest the thread should be deleted. It isn't about my forming my own opinion but more about the mixed signals you seem to be sending. |
CityNG: LomoMike, if you have time, read this article again.and what does it encourage? |
@ Idarachodb. What viscosity were you using prior to your switch? |
Gear oil ( Type T-IV ) for toyota can be found at Ladipo market. You can get the 5w-30 oil from there as well. |
this should help. Petrol generators generally use 5w-30 or 10w-30. Check your own manual.
|
Nice. This way we can have options btw conventional, synthetic blend, or full synthetic. |
what sort of prices would you sell conventional or semi synthetic? |
For those who are interested Mobil 1 5W-30 is available for sale @ N1500 per litre. The sellers number is 08029990070. I just saw his ad on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/olufemi.adekunle.9?fref=ts |
@Nurey & IdaraCHODB I used to drive a 2004 Honda Accord 3.0 V6 and used 5w-20 ( Pennzoil ) , 5w-30 ( Mobil 1 ) , 0w-40 ( Mobil 1 ), 5w-40 ( Cepsa ), 20w-50 ( Forte ) and 20W-50 ( Mobil XHP ) over the 6 yrs i had the car. I also used Auto RX to clean the internals of the car. My driving experience was better with the 5w-20, 5w-30 and 5w-40 viscosities. There was less pedal effort and i got slightly better fuel economy. Auto RX affected my seals and i had to switch to a much higher viscosity ( 20w-50 ) to contain the resultant oil seal damage. My advise is avoid treatments if you can. Identify and stick to very good oil. They already contain the necessary additives. Mobil is a good name but bear in mind that the Mobil 1 sold in Nigeria is of the viscosity 0w-40 and is made in Egypt. This is clearly written on the bottle. It is not the same Mobil 1 sourced from Europe or America. The same goes for our local oils. They are advertised as 20w-50 but who knows what they really are ? What do you really know about the quality of base oil and additives used in preparing what we see as the final product? If they get it wrong who will penalise them? Do you know that we still have a lot of oils that are being sold and are API SF, SG, and SH rated ? These oils are for much older cars ( see attached ) yet our petrol stations are recommending them for 2000 - 2014 cars. ABRO even sells a viscosity that is SD rated ! If you can lay your hands on imported / genuine 5w-30 for your car please grab it! The brand is not particularly relevant. Just ensure that it has the API starburst and Donut symbol and is a minumum of API SJ. My 2 cents. |
@MIB1 I hope the attached files answer some of your questions and educate nairalanders on a lot of the misconceptions surrounding 5w-20 and 5w-30 viscosities especially with regard to ambient temperatures. |
So far so good. |
10w-30 is the recommended oil for both the 4 and 6 cylinder american spec models. You can use 5w-30. |
fidelio2002: The 5w20 And 5w30 milemaster sold on konga are all fully synthetic products.Just saw that there is a MileMaster deal on Webmallng. You can buy 4 gallons @ N26000 and pay N500 as shipping. That translates to N6625 for a 5qt gallon that costs N7100 on Konga before delivery charges are added. Not bad if you need 4 gallons or there are 4 of you that can combine. |
Your car owners manual is clear on the type and viscosity required for your vehicle. The car manufacturers know better than us. Some cars require Full Synthetic. Others do not. Nothing wrong to use full synthetic where it is not required. Also nothing wrong with using conventional or semi synthetic if the car does not require full synthetic. |
You can get 5w-20 or 5w-30 from several online sites. Konga and Webmallng are 2 of them. You can also click on one of the banners here to see a full list of 5w-20 and 5w-30 dealers. Some will even deliver to you if you are in Lagos

Recommended Oil viscosity for 2008 Accord is :- 2.0L - 5w-30 2.4L - 5w-20 / 5w-30 3.5L - 5w-20 |
