I am neither a potential driver nor investor.

However I try to share ways car owners or drivers can benefit in spite of present unfavorable business conditions where fuel prices are now btw N162 and N167 per litre and Uber has refused to review prices upwards.

My advice is for drivers/owners to improve quality of their fuel using fuel cleaners that contain detergents, stabilisers, and octane boosters. Users will immediately notice a reduction in fuel consumption. This translates to reduced cost for them and reduced maintenance charges in the long run as there will be no need to service injector nozzles or replace oxygen sensors. Your gain would be your mechanics loss.

I recognise that there are many products out there and a lot of them are a waste of time. However some are good. I of course have brands I have used in the past and can recommend. LiquiMoly, Chevron Techron are 2 of them They are known names. They are effective but pricey.

So for those willing to try lesser known brands call Nnamdi on 0706 566 2267. He is an Uber driver that has been using one of these brands for over a year now. I believe he has managed to reduce his fuel consumption by a high degree. 20% , 30% perhaps more. I dont know but its always better to hear from the horses mouth.

So my fellow nairalanders my job is done.

Price is 3k per Litre retail but it's discounted if you buy by the carton. A carton contains 12 litres and it's 32k rather than 36k. That's a huge discount.

the car is about 2 years, I have been using milemaster 5w-30, when I couldn't get it , I bought one super oil 5w-30 from nairalander. when I noticed the smoking after 2nd week, I told my mechanic to remove the oil, I now put Castrol 10w-40, still the same problem, that was change about 2 weeks ago

Buy from only trusted source. Since milesmaster folded up, I resigned buying from luvinhubby. Though a little expensive, but rest of mind. 90% are fake

I have been using milemaster 5w-30 on my Toyota Camry 2000 v-6 close to 4 years now, unfortunately the oil is no longer easily available. Kindly recommend any other brand that I can use. The vehicle is due for servicing already.

There is still subsidy on PETROL as the article states. However this thread is about diesel where there is no subsidy due to it being deregulated.

I trust we are all back on the same page.

Incorrect. Diesel is deregulated

Prices have moved from N200 to N240 in less than 6 weeks. If there was subsidy we would still be paying N200.

Royal purple is made from Group 4 base stock. Higher base stock than all the others on your list. Very good oil. But is it for business or personal use ?

With the present exchange rate rate until it is mainstream for the general motoring public to accept and pay prices of N12,000 for mineral oil and N15,000 - N23,000 for synthetic blends and full synthetic oils the odds are stacked against people venturing into this as a business.

2 yrs ago there were quite a number of brands of oil with 5w-20 and 5w-30 offerings. Today how many can we see ? . Most people have ceased to import. The margins are too either slim for the business to grow or the volume sales are none existent.

We have a huge motoring public but how many of them end up buying even with all the awareness being created ? There are too many hurdles to cross with the average motorist who on one hand is uninformed and on the other skeptical of advice received from a non-mechanic. Enlightened mechanics constantly complain of the difficulties they face when convincing motorists on the right oils to use. All that changes once the car spoils and the car owner accepts that wrong oil was the culprit.

Look at your numbers again and take the plunge with Royal Purple if it makes sense.

Coastal is good. The Motocraft recommended is mostly found as synthetic blend. But I dont know the alternative ATF that you are talking about. Ford is very delicate when it comes to their transmission and it is advisable to use Mercon V or its equivalent which are superior fluids that can handle Mercon LV like Syngard .Servicing of your car is 6 months even with Coastal. It is an API SN better than the local labels

Careful. Car owner might be spending a lot of time in traffic. Six months of normal / highway miles isnt the same as six months of normal / stop and go traffic.

Have you researched on what differentiates API SN oils from API SG oils in chemical terms ? Pay particular attention to Zinc and Phosphorus. You need to do this so that you do not waste time asking for the impossible from people whose hands are tied.

Have you done a chemical test on Mobil 1 sold in petrol stations and Total Quartz 9000? Would be interesting to know what forms your present position that Quartz 9000 is far from Nigerian Mobil 1.

Total Q9000 is not near the quality standard of mobil 1 at least from my interim report. Mobil 1 0w40 can be found on major oem list while total is not listed especially vw. Gazzuzz and autotrader2 are both sellers of the real usa mobil 1. You can use Castrol gtx 5w 30 too.

That's nearly 6 cars every day for 5 years. You have been busy!

It is there and it can easily be googled. Most of these claims are from first hand experiences having done over 10000 oil changes in five years

How am I sure that your HARDEX engine oil is original at that price? I bought mine at the rate of #9500 in Port Harcourt.

Did he say the hardex is API SG ? That's for cars manufactured in 1993 and earlier. See attached document.

Motor oil is base oil + additives. The oil formulation of honda vs toyota is similar. Do a google search. Check www.bobistheoilguy.com. They have done quite a number of comparisons.

Quite a number of car manufacturers that sell cars in cold and hot regions will disagree with you. Check the data sheets of motor oils with that rating and you will discover that 0w-20 operates in temperature bands wider than 0 and 20 degrees celcius.

0W-20 is a multi grade engine oil that enables easy starting at 0C while maintaining good fluidity at 20 degree celcius. My Brother, the Nigerian Temperature is far higher than this specifications. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE. This is for winter regions.

Are you sure Hardex is API SG rated ? The rating is for cars dated 1993 and earlier. That's 13 years ago at the minimum.
