The bodies of at least 74 migrants have been washed ashore in western Libya, in the latest tragedy along the dangerous trafficking route to Europe. The Libyan Red Crescent posted photos of dozens of bodies in black and white bags lined up along the shore near the western city of Zawiya.
A spokesman for the aid organisation said there were still bodies floating out at sea as the agency had no way of retrieving them. He said the migrants were all adults, mostly from sub-Saharan African countries, and all but three were men.
The UN migration agency, the International Organisation of Migration (IOM), said the dinghy had set off on Saturday with 110 people on board. The agency said traffickers deliberately took the engines from the boat and then abandoned it to drift.

Again, I am not surprised at the incompetence of government agencies under this government. First they now willfully violate accounting rules by deliberately refusing to submit fiscal reports; MDAs without audited reports have increased from 148 in 2014 to 323 in 2018; financial indiscipline is on the increase and yet they still lose what little competence they might have had before this time.
How can they rubbish the tax credibility and standing of a company like GIGM without exercising proper care and caution? GIGM should be ready to sue FIRS for malicious publication and defamation if they don't quickly respond and retract their publication.

If OP was not a decent girl that understands the importance of hard work, it is very easy for a girl to be lured into all sorts of things at that age, especially in 100 level in the average Nigerian University. The mother didn't even realize all the dangers she put her own child in because she was looking for love in all the wrong places.

Is there anything going on about classic cars?
Most of the cars here are expensive toys that are commonplace in countries where everyone is comfortable, if not super rich, with the basics that many Lagosians hustle to have such as electricity, good roads, metro, health clinics, water etc.
I hope that you can share with an auto show for classic cars in Nigeria. That would be quite interesting.

all these smes are being taxed heavily by local and state govts. They are forced to buy one ticket or the other everyday of the week. These represent their taxes. None of these businesses belong to "big men". The poor pay the taxes. Ask bus drivers and they will cry while explaining their predicament to you.

The government has reiterated severally need to look into other sources for revenue as the dependency on oil only could be disastrous.

In the developed countries tax revenue still take a major place notwithstanding the several other sources they have.

Admission quota system should be abolished in that case, and I know you'll be the first to kick against its abolition but when it comes to appointments, you'll want Hausa-Fulani to occupy virtually all the posts just because of impressive profiles. The recent cut off marks released for entrance into Nigeria Unity Schools is raising dust across the country. Northern states are allotted very low cut-off marks for entrance into Federal Unity Colleges, while those in the South are allotted higher cut-off marks by the Federal Ministry of Education’s documents
In the recently published cut off marks, a State like Zamfara State has as little as two (ohh yes 2 points) as cut off points while Anambra has 139 as cut off points.

Students who score above the cut-off are automatically eligible for admission on merit.

The Education ministry advised parents to check the results of their wards which have been posted on notice board of all Unity Colleges throughout the Federation.

These are the full cut off points into Nigeria Unity Schools as published by the Federal Ministry of Education.

Earlier this week, the news broke that the Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Mrs. Monsurat Sunmonu and wives of members of the assembly are in the United Kingdom for a training tour.

Checks revealed that the trip was put in place for them to learn how to assist their husbands on the job under the guise of a “Women of Caliber” programme.

This trip is coming just as their husbands were returning from a “working” visit to South Africa.

Defending the trip at the venue of the training, the Speaker Mrs Sunmonu said "everywhere in the world, leaders get paid from public funds, and that the only thing is to ensure that money is judiciously spent"

Hmmm...Money judiciously spent indeed!
