So are you smart The lack of state-owned pipe-borne water in the homes of Lagos residents has continued to be a source of concern, a non-profit group, Corporate Accountability and Public Advocacy Africa (CAPPA) has said.
At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.
The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.
Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.

The president, according to a statement by his spokesperson Femi Adesina on Friday, disclosed this while receiving a delegation from Nasarawa State. “The Government and people of Nasarawa State, as usual, have a great role to play in returning our party to governance in the 2023 elections, in order to create a path for greater socio-economic growth and development.
“This is not only important for Nigeria alone but also for the West African Sub-Region,” the president was further quoted as saying.
Mr Buhari assumed office in 2015, promising to tackle corruption, fight insecurity and pursue economic prosperity for every Nigerian.

Which one of his rivals has been investigated and charged by EFCC BeeBeeOoh: The former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, whose secret and illegal offshore activities PREMIUM TIMES reported in the ongoing Pandora Papers series, has been summoned for questioning by the EFCC, Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency.
It is the first known action by any Nigerian law enforcement agency since PREMIUM TIMES started reporting influential Nigerians involved in offshore shenanigans exposed through the global Pandora Papers investigation. The presidency has directed that Nigerians exposed in the reports be investigated, those with knowledge of the directive have told this paper.
PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the EFCC communicated the invitation to Mr Obi during the week and he has been asked to report at the agency’s Abuja headquarters on October 27 to face investigators.
Sources separately said the invitation is in connection with revelations in our Pandora Papers report. The report exposed how Mr Obi incorporated offshore holdings, which he did not declare to the Code of Conduct Bureau when he served as a governor and how he continued to manage his Next International UK Limited 14 months after becoming a governor. In addition, he also continued to operate a foreign account as a governor.

If we are united why is Thiefnuibu the APC flagbearer? The groups demanded restructuring before the 2023 general election in order to guarantee its continued co-existence as one country.
Their position was made known during the launch of Power Shift Movement and Forty Million Ballots Movement in Awka, Anambra State, which was hosted by the President of Youths Off the Street Initiative, Kennedy Iyere.
Secretary-General of Afenifere, Chief Sola Ebiseni, who was represented by leader of Yoruba nation self-determination group, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, said the group was in support of the South-East producing the next president.
He said, “Southern presidency is a means to an end. It is not something to celebrate because even if we have a Southern president, you cannot have one more powerful than Obasanjo and nothing is being done. The fundamental thing is restructuring. But in the meantime, let those who have not tasted it, let them have it.”
He maintained that the Yoruba nation was not happy that Igbo people were not coming out to declare their interest for the position even when people of Southern Nigeria have declared support for them.
“We hear people from the South-West want to be president, and even in the North which we have said has had enough for now; they want to be president. I have not seen men from the South-East come out and say that they want to be president. It is not a matter of newspapers or reeling out statistics. It is a question of let us see these men. If you don’t take your destiny in your hand politically, it will continue to be statistics on the pages of the newspaper."

Reference: Urban infrastructure takes much longer due to access and obstruction. The logistics in getting materials to site alone on a daily basis is hectic as there is nowhere to store anything closeby not to talk about the cost and difficulty of relocation of existing structures and services.
That is why in other climes where possible they just go underground, but Lagos being practically at groundwater level this will be impracticable or horrendously expensive.
So relax. No city in the world builds to finish a metro in a generation. The only thing they could have done better was to concentrate on a single line for completion, the most important line before embarking on expansions from this line to serve other locations. Is it Abuja or Addis Ababa that is not an urban area? What will it take to redeem you from your suffering and smiling Stockholm syndrome affliction? SB2020: Interesting facts about Addis Ababa and Lagos light rail projects.
Addis Ababa / Lagos Cost == $475Million / $1.2Billion Length == 34km / 27km Time to Complete == 4years / 7years (projected) Year Awarded == 2011 / 2008 (Construction began 2010) Contractor == China Railway Eng. Corp (CREC) /Chinese Civil Eng. Constr. Coy (CCECC) Population == 5Million / 20Million GDP == $50Billion (Ethiopia) / $100Billion (Est.) (Nigeria - $535B)
Ethiopia has managed to deliver Sub-Saharan Africa’s first modern light rail project which opened in the capital Addis Ababa on Sunday, and in the process, beat Lagos whose own rail project remains four years behind schedule.
Ethiopia’s rail project was delivered on time, despite its being longer than the Lagos – Badagry rail line currently under construction.
Addis Ababa’s two line 34-kilometre system was built by the China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) and cost $475m, 85 percent of which has been covered by China’s Exim bank. The Lagos Light Rail Project or Blue on Badagry Expressway, was to have 13 stations from Okokomaiko to Marina via Iddo for a total of 27 kilometres.
The contract was awarded to the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) at the cost of $1.2 billion in 2008, and was to be delivered in 2011. Survey work took one year between August 2009 and August 2010 while construction began July 2010.
The work is being implemented using the public and private partnership (PPP) model, whereby the state builds the infrastructure and the private sector provides the rolling stock and management. However, the project has not worked out according to the plan. The 2011 deadline was missed, even though the State government got a loan to fund the project.
