jimyjames: My friend you haven't denied it with facts yourself, as long as you can't deny that Yoruba Muslims are the majority in south west with facts , anything goes
voltron14: Why won't you have suspicion when you aren't proud of your heritage. Successful people are often the first to reconnect with their roots. Failures call their homes shitholes because a white man said so.
Juve4: ***says he doesn’t need apology from PM Cameron
ABUJA-President Mohammadu has admitted that his country, Nigeria “is fantastically corrupt,” giving credence to the words of British Prime Minister, David Cameron who shared such as a joke with Queen Elizabeth 11 before television cameras.
The president also stated that he would not demand any apology from Camerom from making the comment, saying that he was more interested in the repatriation of stolen assets by Nigerians stashed abroad including the United Kingdom, saying “I need something tangible”.
Buhari is currently in London attending the global anti-corruption summit hosted by Cameron.
President Buhari made the admittance to Sky News’ Diplomatic Editor, Dominic Waghorn in London.
In the 29 seconds chat minutes monitored by our correspondent, Waghorn had pressed president Buhari to know whether Nigeria Nigeria was “fantastically corrupt”, surprisingly, the president admitted.
The chat went this way:
Sky news: Will you like an apology from the prime minister? Buhari: “No, no not at all” Sky news: Are you embarrassed by what he said? Buhari: “No I’m not.” Sky news: Is Nigeria fantastically corrupt? Buhari: “Yes”
But according the Correspondent, Senators Chukwuka Utazi, chairman, senate committee on anti-corruption and financial crimes and Dino Melaye were not happy with Cameron’s comment on Nigeria. For Utazi, “I am taken aback. I am not happy about it,” while for Melaye, it was “reckless” and “demeaning”.
Ebullience: Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari Monday said he avoided bringing up President Donald Trump’s alleged vulgar remarks about African countries when the two presidents today at the White House because he was not sure his American counterpart truly made comment.
Buhari, the first sub-Saharan Africa president to meet Trump since he was sworn in January 2017, is currently in the US for bilateral talks on the invitation of the American president.
“I am not sure about the validity or whether that allegation against the President was true or not, so the best thing to do for me is to keep quiet,” Buhari said during a joint press conference with Trump at the Rose Garden at the White House.
Trump came under fire early in the year after he reportedly called some African countries ‘shithole’ at a private White House meeting on January 12. But he denied making the comment and labelled his accusers as fake news peddlers.
He doubled down on that denial during the press conference.
“We didn’t discuss it, because the president knows me, and he knows where I’m coming from and I appreciate that. We did not discuss it,” Trump said.
odiks: The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has advised a former governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, to perish the thought of defecting to the APC.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Ade Ajayi, said this in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday.
He said the party was not a dumping ground “for failed politicians,” adding that Fayose was not wanted in the party because of his antecedents.
This was contained in a statement he signed. Ajayi described the APC as “a disciplined, refined and integrity-inclined type which would not tolerate people like Fayose,” adding that “Fayose is not qualified to be a member of the APC in the state.”
DickDastardly: A former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and incumbent Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, was on Friday arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
PREMIUM TIMES investigation shows that Mr. Akpabio was taken in by EFCC operatives at about 5.20 pm. He was said to have been accompanied a few aides and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Ricky Tarfa.
An aide to the former governor, who cannot be named because he is not authorised to speak on the matter told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr. Akpabio is currently being interrogated by top officials of the EFCC.
An EFCC source confirmed the development.
“He was brought in at about 5.20 pm accompanied by a few aides and Mr. Rickey Tarfa,” the source said. “It is not yet known whether he will be allowed to go this night. It depends on how the interrogation goes.”
The spokesperson for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, did not answer or return calls seeking comment for this story. The EFCC had begun investigation into alleged theft of N108.1billion of Akwa Ibom funds by the former governor in June. The action followed a petition forwarded to the commission by an Abuja-based lawyer and activist, Leo Ekpenyong. Mr. Ekpenyong had on June 8 petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari and the EFCC, calling for Mr. Akpabio’s probe and accusing him of looting Akwa Ibom state treasury.
Investigations by PREMIUM TIMES showed that several other indigenes of the state who are demanding the investigation of the former governor, have been invited by the EFCC to adopt their petitions.
The party, which was reacting to a statement allegedly credited to Fayose to the effect that he would defect to the APC if his ordained Peoples Democratic Party state chairmanship aspirant failed in his bid for the job.
To this, Ajayi said, “We will not welcome him to the great and decent family in the state.
“It is better he stays back in his PDP to get it more destroyed instead of coming to a principled, disciplined, transparent, law-abiding and organised party like the APC.
“The Ekiti APC members know the people behind the masquerade and thereby warn people like Fayose not to turn the APC to a dumping ground where they can defect to.”
swtdrms: Why not give a counter fact according to your view. Name all the prominent christians from the states the guy listed and you'll find that their backgrounds were muslim backgrounds including prominent pastors e.g Oyedepo, Ashimolowo etc
Fact cannot go together withe personal view please. What fact is there to counter in the first personal view that he quoted? What exactly is factual there?
richesbhc: 80% of Yoruba Population from Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Lagos and Kwara are Muslim. The remaining 20% either converted to Christian or their parents or grandparents converted to Christian or thier lineage could be traced to Ondo or Ekiti state.
Is this from the 2006 census where religion is filled out on the forms? Why can't you stick with verifiable facts

Ubijus1: A British invasion force headed by Phillips set out to overthrow the Oba in 1896. The force’s weapons were hidden in baggage, with troops disguised as bearers. Phillips plan was to gain access to Ovonramwen’s palace by announcing that he intended to negotiate. Ovonramwen’s messengers issued several warnings not to violate Benin territorial sovereignty, claiming he was unable to see Phillips due to ceremonial duties. Having been warned on several further occasions on the way, Phillips sent his stick to the Oba, a deliberate insult designed to provoke the conflict that would provide an excuse for British annexation.
Phillip’s expedition was ambushed and all but two were killed. Subsequently a military operation against Benin in 1897 led by Harry Rawson resulted in the burning of Benin City, the destruction and looting of the royal palaces, and the deaths of untold numbers of its inhabitants. Although the British had orders to hang the Oba, Ovonramwen escaped, but returned to the city to formally surrender on 5 August 1897. When Ovonramwen returned to the city, after six months spent in evading capture in the forest, he was richly dressed and laden with coral beads and accompanied by an entourage of seven hundred to eight hundred people.
He attempted to escape exile by offering Consul General Ralph Moor 200 puncheons (barrels) of oil worth £1500 [£183000.00 today] and to disclose where his 500 ivory tusks were buried [today’s value: Up to £275,625,500.00] however this offer was dismissed as Mr. Moor had already discovered them.
Ovonramwen was exiled to Calabar with his two of his wives, Queen Egbe and Queen Aighobahi, and died there around the turn of the new year in 1914. Ovonramwen was eventually buried in the grounds of the royal palace in Benin City. He was succeeded by his first son and legitimate heir, Prince Aguobasimwin, who ruled as Eweka II.
Woke up with strength and vigour this morning and was up to face today with all hopes and aspirations but was sad & almost started crying after watching this video.
I've been an advocate of leaders been strong at all time with will power to carry out leadership responsibilities. And that emotional leaders don't go far but certainly not this way.
In leadership and governance, there's a place for 'Human face' no matter the circumstances. Widows to the best of my knowledge are integral part of our society and if we don't apply human face when dealing with them, am afraid we are far from getting there as a people.
Two wrongs indeed can never make things right and as such, can't fathom why the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams A. O. will treat this widow like this and even tell her to go and die when she's struggling to provide food for her family. I think it would've been far better to make her pay a fine for her wrong doing than this humiliation.
Prospect of a possible alliance between the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, was dashed yesterday in Kano as the leader of the party and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu described CPC as parading “expired leadership.”
yanabasee: IMG?.... They're the brain behind Nigeria's excess lending of loans from China and other foreign countries... Should be supporting cluelessness so that they will step up to link Nigeria with China to lend money, when bad policies go wrong....
Black man blaming everyone but himself for his failure. No wonder barawo bubu is our president. We deserve him fully.
yinkus6750: If most churches with tertiary institutions can be giving scholarship to a minimum of 50 people yearly, nobody will complain again.. At least children of members that are brilliant and can't afford the fees, can win scholarship.. The church needs to go into giving back to the society / members, everything shouldn't be purely for business.
Mosques and churches. In primary schools, secondary schools, vocational schools and technical colleges too.
Yebosola: Is Awolowo's courses that is affecting that betrayal, instead of him to go and rest peacefully in his house, dabbling into Edo matter, wetin concern this unsong foolish man?
