Bigo8291:you have points I agree but where this hate started I don't know or get it, and I don't care to get it because I feel at times it is just plain dumb at times but I agree ghanians and Nigerians should work together when it comes to development, I feel their maybe ignorance in both sides but not to extreme. It's sad but what can you do. |

Bigo8291:This is the first time I have heard about people mistaking Ghanians for Nigerians or Nigerians for Ghanians; Any way to be real all the Ghanians I have encountered and know(including my Ghanian friends I know) are cool people. I don't have problems with ghanians but I do agree that on the net I have seen this ridiculous hostility between Nigerians and Ghanians, I don't get it or know how it started between the two but I never join in that nonsense. However I do feel their is a rivalry between some ghanians and Nigerians when it comes to sports and entertainment, ex. Nollywood vs. Ghollywood or black stars vs. super eagles, and etc. |
^^could be a coincidence or could be connected to the berber/moorish art which the iberian [spanish] pottery was based on at that time. ife beads were traded as far as north africa i believe.
I feel it is a coincidence |
okooyinbo:You are semi right, and the reason why you are half right is because yes their were inter-tribal marriages way before the Europeans came and tribal culture stayed in tact, but it was because africans and old world culture respect the rule "who ever the father is that what the kids are" but those inter-tribal marriages were done in small numbers not high numbers. If it was done in high numbers that's where tribal cultures would have disappeared, so this where I feel you were wrong in your explanation. So it depends it is not as clear cut, however I do agree with your analysis that when there was wars between tribes women were spared but not the males because women are the seed to civilizations they are having the babies, raising the children, keepers of the culture and etc. So when there was war women and children were protected while men had to defend their territory. The issue is it doesn't go by that rule any more like it used to, especially in the western world(in most cases it is reverse). |
ezeagu:Cosign, that's why I don't take those humanist people seriously. That thinking is only relevant in the western world. |
this is definitely a sun disk: and compare with this design of a dish from 14th or 15th century moor-influenced spain: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f6/Lustreware.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lustreware http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hispano-Moresque_ware
Interesting but I don't think there is a connection, just coincidence |
kl2020:That's your opinion and should we care that MR. ATL doesn't care about african culture. You don't care for african culture but you are in a nigerian forum commenting on the culture section TROLL ALERT |
Dgunnerz:Well I don't think the hausa's or anybody should be left out but the reality of english Nollywood industry is it's runned by majority igbo's and the minority is runned by other tribes like Yoruba, bini and etc. Now I am not complaining especially since the yoruba's have their own film industry but they are also called Nollywood butt when it comes to the Hausa's from what I heard some look down on the southern nigerian movie industries and don't care to be part of it, so they have their own industry is called kannywood. That is the reality of Nollywood in Nigeria |
xcelmind:yes it is true, it is part of the tradition of Eyo festival that you don't wear shoes, hat and etc. Watch this video it will help answer your questions [flash=500,500] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U1iSSnGKFI[/flash] |
Siena:understood |
Ufeolorun:Excellent statement |
MsDarkSkin:lol, thanks for posting this, so hilarious. People are talking about Nollywood this & that but won't criticize Bollywood for doing something similar. Copying is copying and those Bollywood ones are more embarrassing because they have the money to make their own, so there is no excuse. I have heard they also copy some Hollywood movies as well. |
BlackLibya:that movie just didn't interest me, it just seems tacky and weird to me |

Ufeolorun:I agree |
coogar:oh ok |
@Bolded what does that have to do with anything ? It is there tradition don't you think ?
Cosign 100% |
coogar:that was a mistake, I meant Nigeria |
muyete:English is not a native language of Nigeria, it is the official language of Nigeria. Native languages of Nigeria are like Hausa/fulani, Yoruba. Igbo, edo and etc. English can not be a native language of Nigeria because it is was never a native language of the tribes of Nigeria in their first place, it was the native language of the British, who were the ones who colonized |
^ I agree with you if it comes to elders in ones particular tribe, u can't take it away from the yorubas. But am speaking about seniors in general, irrespective of if they r your tribe or not, the Igbo kids and teenagers r slightly more respectful.
oh ok, I guess I understand what you mean |
If Lagos is the only place you assessed Yoruba's then you really haven't assessed them. All I will tell you is Yoruba's are very respectful to their elders when it comes to kneeling to their parents to grandparents and etc. I don't know about Hausa's and other tribes but Yoruba's respect their elders in yorubaland. So I disagree with your assessment but that doesn't mean I am saying that non-yoruba tribes are not respectful but when it comes to "most respectful" that is in another level because assessing respect is beyond just noticing people greeting you on the street as far as I am concerned. |
EzeUche:the Yoruba film industry have had some collaborations with Brazil back in 2007 before Nollywood came into the picture, and if your read the article there are Yoruba contributions to. So this is not a igbo or Yoruba thing when it comes to this article's story, even though it is a fact that Igbo's do control basically most of the English Nollywood industry. |
well good for him |
