Of course, Igbos in general build high rise it's just skyscraper that's remaining although I've seen 15 stories in SE. Owerri has to be the next big skyscraper city in Nigeria if you consider the gas project and the hospitality status. This building is in SE and it's nice

One can even count in one hand how many high rise buildings there are in London, Paris or Barcelona. Very few. And these are cities that started building for over 500 years.
What is the obsession in some people with high rise buildings in Owerri, in Imo state where no other place outside Owerri has common drainage systems, good roads or sustainable water supply projects? Pls don't quote me take ur stupidity elsewhere we are not on same page
If Rochas Okorocha continued as governor through his son-in-law, he would have bent to pressure and built high rise buildings in Owerri. Next governor will pull them down because of quack work, and they are not necessary for now.

You're right about the inland roads, the bridge collapsed, Ministry of works has captured it, in it's next phase of reconstruction.
As for the building opposite Rockview hotel, I thought it will be office complex or shopping plaza. Do you know the purpose of that new 5floor building along bank road?

Which infrastructure? I'm yet to see much improvement compared with the past as I stated earlier on this thread and it is nothing personal. I've been watching videos and photos of Owerri all over the net and nothing spectacular has happened not to talk of in the villages. How many new schools, have the hospitals been completed yet?

In terms of infrastructure Uzodinma is better than Ihedioha cause he has destroyed less and built more. He only destroyed one tunnel and Somto Hospital. However Ihedioha shall beat him hands down in any free and fair election because he played better politics by restricting his fight to Okorocha without attacking IPOB so he is in their good book unlike Uzodinma.

Those are institutions . What I want Uzodinma to do that I believe will boost tourism is to build a very beautiful African themed garden park at the Akachi tower and also repair it for visitors to climb and enjoy city view like they used to in the past. That Freedom waterfalls at Warehouse should be completely replaced with a recreational center comprising swimming pool and local Igbo huts. Those 2 alone will attract a lot of people to Owerri especially foreigners who will appreciate a modern display of our traditional architecture. It will compliment the siting of Mbari restaurant in same vicinity.

Many people are misguided about development and economy. To such illiterates building of factories is the only industry they know whereas tourism is a bigger deal and yet leaves your environment free from industrial pollution.

Only Okorocha understood the importance of recreation parks and sightseeing to development of tourism in Imo State. All his successors are busy trying to prove that those things are not important to the extent of demolishing Freedom Falls and Akachi. Even Heroes Park would have been demolished if not Okorocha's hurried addition of Buhari statue at the end of his tenure. Even the Industrial Park he established as well as the Cargo Airport are laying fallow for sake of visionless successors.

Universities in Owerri led to development of the area. You want Orlu people to forfeit their federal allocations but contribute money to develop their area.

FYI, it did not start today. Past governors of Imo state had pleaded with the federal government to convert Imo state university teaching hospital Orlu to a federal university teaching hospital. This would have been an ideal time if Minister Nwajiuba and his compatriot at the Federal Health Ministry are on the same page with the people of Imo state.
At least, the facilities are already on ground in Orlu.
