Denka Business City, New Owerri is proposed to be a contemporary and elegant commercial solar city which is situated in the trendy and prestigious part of New-Owerri.
Occupying over 2.1 hectares, it is ideally situated about six blocks away from the popular Imo Concorde Hotel, adjacent to MIMI’s Place and directly opposite the new Everyday Supermarket.
It is also bounded on the North by the Imo State House of Assembly Complex.

Every housing development in SE should take this multi storey outlook, this bungalow and duplex is so off
i think that place is in Ajah side, one thing i hate so much is that most of our governors in imo state lacks good plans, our governors prefer building mushrooms size of bungalows instead of building modern housing units

This is one of Moroccan cities it was not built by individuals or randomly but the properties there belongs to individuals

What do you suggest, that can be done to improve the city of Owerri, that's practicable
if we want to achieve great City locals must stop selling lands to individuals, govt should be in charge of buildings or few real estate developers. they will build the houses tared the roads and pave the sidewalks with modern drainage system, let me tell you why we can't stop having bad roads in every corner of owerri and Nigeria is because our City development is done randomly, for instance when you go to Avu and obinze those area are already build up when there's no govt presents in those areas no streets no roads no city plans and same is happening in other parts of owerri very soon people in those areas will be crying bad roads. govt will be confused they won't know where to channel their development because of their scarce resources. In South Africa, Morocco Egypt and some other African countries u can not buy Land u can only buy building properties, new owerri was mapped out since till today many plots of lands are still empty while people are going to inside areas of the City and buying lands, had it been investors concetrated their investments in new owerri it would have being easy for govt to provide good environment for the people then the same govt will still map out another area at least this will help us

I, agree with you 100%, we will never be like America but our problems are we lack attention to detail and corruption, Counties like Rwanda, Namibia, and South Africa don't have two heads nor trillions of dollars.
last South African budget was up to 150 billion dollars, that's Why they are better than us in terms of infrastructures and building more smart cities with their little population of 57 million people, another country that's doing great things now is Egypt they are building smart cities but nothing is happening in Nigeria

I'm not a fan of comparing countries but this is a good example of a street done right

https://sustainableamsterdam.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/151111-img-3236-haarlemmerplein.jpg

If you want to use this road you can
1. walk
2. take a bik
3. take rail
4. drive

This will

1. take pressure off the road from car use so that you don't need to rebuild it every year
2. help businesses in the area because people on foot and bike can visit more
3. give people lifestyle options. We are creating what many cities are regretting creating and that's a city for drivers. Every city in the US except NYC is regretting making this mistake and are trying to reverse it. We who have a blank slate are jumping into the mistake because elaborate road structures make it look like 'the governor is working'. They're monuments to ego.
5. Safer. Car oriented cities lead to speeding and vehicles are among the #1 causes of death in any poorly designed city. A multi purpose street is statistically safer.

There are also things in the picture above that should be noticed.
1. no sand. All available land is covered. in the US they use grass more and in europe they use brick, but this will eliminate dust, dust storms, air pollution, and all of the hazards that come with dust to people and electronics. There are many Nigerian cities that you will walk through, come home, and your cloths are dirty. Image what it's doing to your lungs. So hopefully they cover that open space with trees, but idk. No governor gets praised for trees. Just road road road. I wouldn't encourage grass in nigeria cause it takes a lot of maintenance and running water which we don't have much of

2. easier to clean and keep clean
we can never get ride of sandy and dusty roads any time soon in Nigeria because all our roads are not tared, owerri for instance some inner streets are not tared this is where all those heap of sands and dust are coming from. At times I don't blame our leaders much on infrastructure base on our budget. like America u talked about we can never be in same league with this people, last week American lawmakers approved 1.4 trillion dollars for reconstruction of some roads and changing of some water pipes, this is Nigeria's budget for the next 20 years or more than so tell me why u can't build world-class infrastructures with this kind of money even if u are corupt, u can't expect Nigeria to be like America with budget of 33 billion dollars for 220 million people, in side this money that's where Imo state government get their own infrastructural money

To me I prefer this junction improvement more than flyovers that people where suggesting, but I implore IMSG to reconstruct the two flyovers instead of demolition that people are routing for.
imolites sees flyovers as big development but me i don't see it in that way, there are a lot of things we can do to improve our cities. The way we develop our cities is quite different from other Africans look at countries like kenya, Mauritius, Lesotho Rwanda and South African cities u will see that we're backward as a country our government just allow people to be building nonsense the only thing our leaders are after is the control of state money no city development policies, our cities looks 17th centuries. Govt build and sell to the masses that's how it's done in well organized countries

When I see all the potentials wasting away in Owerri, it always makes me want to go crazy.

Firstly, I want to appreciate the efforts of government in beautification of roads within Owerri and it is amazing how it is fast changing the outlook of the city. The interesting thing is that these are just remedial works yet its impact is far reaching!

Owerri is about the only city where outsiders always troop to yet it has very little or no tourism attractions with only the Nekede zoo available. The state government should do the following to augment the Owerri urban renewal and boost tourism:

1. Please and please, why can't that area around Akachi tower and Otamiri be turned into a massive botanical gardens? Restore that tower, bring all kinds of flowers and tree plants, build bamboo tents and create beautiful paths with White sands. Some of those bamboo tents can be rented out for restaurant and bars. With the entire area barricaded with entrance gate and car park.

2. If you're driving from Warehouse towards Control, and you see that wide Nworie river and its beauty wasting away, can make anyone feel bad. Plant coconut trees along the banks of that river and use white sands to cover the banks, you automatically have an exotic beach within the city! Then build bamboo tents behind it that can be rented out to food vendors, bars and other related services. Make sure it's well iluminated with colourful lights for night activities too. Bring a couple of boats that will be providing rides for a fee. Add children arena with all those play things. Make it accessible with a car park.

These things won't cost billions of naira but their impact on Owerri would be massive. Owerri already has probably the most vibrant night life in Nigeria. But that can't be the only viable tourism attraction!

Now that the roads are looking beautiful with its wideness and aesthetics, doing these 2 things I mentioned here will boost Owerri's appeal as a place to be for fun seekers and also help to attract more investments.
nwaorie ubi river back of warehouse junction can't be beach or whatever it's not possible. U can't have beach in a city centre besides the River is poor, this picture is exactly what we needed there, constructing of roads on both sides of the river with trees and the buildings facing the river that's how it's done in a western countries

Imo people being mostly educated? It’s mainly people from Owerri senatorial district who benefit from all the 5 tertiary education institutions in Imo state left in Owerri. They attend the institutions en mass from home. There, they contrived the strange and false sense that state was created for development of state capital first. They use tricks and outright blackmail to impose the falsehood on every government in Imo state. They sing praises for the governors and get happy as Imo state outside Owerri side is like shiithole.
so because all the 5 tertiary institution was located in owerri that is why ur kinsmen are illiterates? Does those schools in owerri deny people from outside owerri admission because they are not owerri people? Some People with useless mentality that school is only thing that can bring development, I'm from oguta there's no school in oguta but I prefer my Town more than towns that has tertiary institutions. Plan ur town well and forget about universities that brings all sorts of cults and criminalities

If progress bank building is completed, with the new high rise building opp prison is completed a miniature CBD is born. But Ikm to 2km standard road with street lights and interlocked internal roads is not that hard to achieve nwanne if we are serious about developing our city.
concetration of high rise buildings in owerri won't work now because if u check those buildings they are all hotels there's noway those hotel owners will like to build there hotels close to each other in a particular place there will be serious competition and envy between them, bank like afriexim ihedioha should have given them land in the heart of the city like bank road or somewhere in new owerri within villa garden or renato hotel and tell them to make it high rise. But with our Nigeria mentality they take them miles away from the city because of stupid mindset of city expansion at the end of the day we end up expanding sithole as a city

Imagine if the defunct progress bank building was completed. Government should sell the building even if it's at a give away price of 1bilion naira, instead of allowing it rot away
i don't think that building belongs to government someone told me that the building belongs to one man and he said the ower abandoned it because rochas trespassed on some part of the land, this was as of last year the man said the owner will soon start work but since then there's no sign of the man starting any work
