From 2nd year down to Final year,We take Different Courses From These Department/section/unit.Then a BASIC PHARMACOLOGY just Enough to cover what we need to know as MLS.Then other crash courses.BCH and MCB know little to nothing about Medical Biochemistry/Microbiology.why? because they have other areas they have to cover.they DON'T go deep. NB.MLS is not studying BCH or MCB but the MEDICAL Part of it From 2nd year to Final Year. With the PRACTICALS,POSTINGS,INTERNSHIP. Life is involved you MUST be licensed. nelszx: Cont'd Still removed many of the screenshots Just get the mls curriculum and read through We do the general of whatever course and dwell on the medical aspect which concerns us. arinzos: First off, sorry if i insulted you it wasn't intentional.
i will like to know SLT coverage.
Saying Medicals is restricted shows you don't really know what you are talking about. MLS is NOT related to SLT from SCHOOL to WORKING PLACE. i don't have any problem with SLT. my problem lies when you guys say you can RUN a MEDICAL LABORATORY or work as a Medical Laboratory Scientist because you did a CRASH course in BASIC Medicals.that is an abomination in the face of the LAW.it is not in your licence and the Act establishing NISLT. SLT are gods in Industrial Laboratories and other Laboratories but NOT Medical Laboratory because LIFE is INVOLVED. SLT don't have any Medical Specialization(if you guys have please let me know). Yes SLT and MLS are not related by name but by scope of duty (I means SLT medicals) they are related and interwoven. let me ask you a question. ICPC and EFCC are two different bodies but their job scope are almost same and cut across each other. will you say EFCC has a right to stop ICPC because they work in similar environment? SLT licence covers clinical testing and it is enacted in the ACT. don't be deceived by any of your superiors. Nigeria has many agencies that work across each other and they are doing fine don't let your leaders create hatred in your hearts because they want to prove a point to you guys. |

Biomedical of which I am a graduate and Physiology and pharmacology. these two areas are well grounded in medical areas. if I should ask you. are those two up there not medically inclined? tell me a course you did that those two up there didn't do? we then have the microbiology, biological sciences and biochemistry. which are pure sciences. one thing most of you out there don't know is that SLT is runned now in the university and they are well grounded. again another thing is that SLT has other departments which cuts across engineering, agriculture, environment etc. one who did SLT physics is not eligible and cannot work in the medical area because that is not his field and scope. so know this. |

Good to let you know that both profession were signed into law same day and time by Obasanjo? For you information let me educate you. slt are scientists and technologists as well as technicians depending on your level of education. I should also let you know that MLS is in no way superior to slt as you claim because slt have a broader coverage area than you guys. now let's get to action. while you term yourself as a scientist we slt are known as chartered scientists. If you want proof then bring your licence out here while I bring mine. Also note that you as an MLS is only restricted to only the medical area and arm of science but an slt biomedical goes beyond only the medical. they explore in full more than your scope. so I got no need arguing with a profession whose aim are to pull everyone down for their own selfish Interest. Like I've always told you before you jump unto a public discuss such as this get verified information so that when time comes like this you can defend it. Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Where Do Science Laboratory Technology Graduates Work? by anthney87: 4:04pm On Oct 23, 2018 |
When people lack knowledge they speak anyhow.
There is a big difference between MLS and SLT. MLS is a field that specialises more on just running SOP already developed in just o my the medical field. they are well licenced to practice in Nigeria. MLS is a small part of biomedical science.
SLT on the other hand is a field integrated in all science areas from agriculture to medicine to engineering and environmental.
Anywhere there is a lab SLT is there to lead it. they are scientist whose duties goes from not just following SOP but carrying out intensive research to improve all field of science and technology.
Medical doctors who are fully involved in research are also scientists same as biochemist, biologists, chemists and even engineers.
medical microbiology and biochemistry graduates can work in the hospital labs. infact MLS are not certified to do microbiology and biochemistry tests in the hospitals. it is not part of their curriculum. they are only proud now because BCH and MCB graduates and professors refuse to spend money to get an act to practice to the fullest. so MLS should know they cover a little scope of biomedical and should maintain that level.
I am a proud biomedical technologist, scientist and also an engineer. As a Biomedical scientist we are involved in DNA, forensics, finger printing to mention a few but MLS is mainly on haematology and few other areas such as parasitology and little mcb.
I am proud to be an SLT biomedical graduate. |

anthney87: please house. has anyone considered New Zealand for nursing and midwifery?
I think it is a better place for now to be relaxed. They have a different board for Midwives so even without a nursing degree or certificate you can migrate to New Zealand and with less than #370k you are registered with their midwifery council and there are lots of agencies ready to take up your application. and cost of traveling and relocation at their own expense.
With only $250 if you are ist approved with your certificate to continue your application with them agencies take plans of our residency.
make una take this route as an alternative to USA and Canada for now.
New Zealand is a very fine country with similarities to the UK. Hello house, This post is about Nigerian Midwives who wish to apply to and work as a Registered midwife in New Zealand. It is strictly for holders of Basic Midwifery certificate. That is, you studied Midwifery for 3yeara and got registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. You must have worked for at least 3 years. New Zealand offers good opportunuties for foreign midwives. A newly employed midwife in New Zealand earns 47000 New Zealand dollar per year. That's about 11,600,000 naira. I will give a step by step procedure 1. Complete a three years Basic Midwifery study and get registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. 2. Get a valid (not expired) international passport ready. This cost around 25,000 naira from any immigration office near you. 2. At this point I advise you open a dollar account in any Nigerian bank so you can easily pay for your application and registration fee to New Zealand Midwifery Council. Don't panic. Its not difficult to open. Just go to aboki buy US$10 with 3500 naira. Go with your intl passport, electricity bill, 2 passport photographs to FCMB bank and they will do it for you. When you are ready to apply to New Zealand Midwifery Council, you must buy dollar from aboki and pay into this account to cover the amount you want to pay to New Zealand Midwifery Council. You need this because you can't pay to New Zealand Midwifery Council with your naira atm card. 3. Log in to www.midwiferycouncil.health.nz/midwives/becoming-registered-practise/internationally-qualified-midwives-application-guidelines to study the guidelines. 4. With your valid valid license and intl passport ready and your dollar account funded with at least US$200, you Log in to www.midwiferycouncil.health.nz and create an account in their website. You will be given a username and password which you will need to Log in anytime. Click on 'Apply' and select 'Oversea' and fill the form. Select 'Assessment fee'. This is because your documents will be assessed first before proper registration. Assessment fee is 250 New Zealand dollar, about 62,000 naira. On payment option, select credit card and fill in the details on your dollar account atm card. If they confirm your credentials to be true, they will give you decision letter to pay for your registration and license. This cost 750 New Zealand dollar, about 186,000 naira. 5. After filling the form online, you will be asked to print out two forms. You will take one to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to fill and send directly to New Zealand Midwifery Council. 6. You will send the following documents by post to: New Zealand Midwifery Council, Level 5, 22 Willeston Street, Wellington Central, Wellington 6011, New Zealand. - A photocopy of the data page of your intl passport - Photocopy of your RM Notification of Registration - Certificate of Good Standing. It must also state names, full addresses of all health facilities/clinics/hospitals you have worked, your position, ward and explain the functions of that ward/unit. 8. Meet the Principal of your school of Midwifery and ask them to send your transcripts to: New Zealand Midwifery Council Tell your Principal to add that your studies were conducted and you were examined in English language. This is very important. If this is not stated, you will be required to sit and take IELTS test. 9. You will add it in the documents you will send to New Zealand Midwifery Council. 10. Get a medical certificate of physical and mental fitness from a government hospital. 11. You are required to have conducted at least 30 deliveries by yourself, 20 as assistants and 50 as observer. You will answer some questions on antenatal, postnatal, episiotomy, deliveries, medical surgical nursing, etc. 12. Photocopy of your WAEC/NECO. I have been hearing all these SARS episode and have also encountered them during my travels. Today I saw the thievery habit of SARS. I was with my mom when we got a call from our sales rep that the members of the Nigerian police were at the store.
We drove down and behold on getting there we saw the SARS personnel packing our goods into their vehicle.
On coming down and asking them the reason for their action they replied we are selling contraband goods
Really?
ME: Please sir can show me among the drugs you have packed any that is contraband?
SARS: Young man are you stupid? Are you trying to dictate my work for me?
Me: That is paracetamol, children ampliclox, multivitamin, eye drops etc
SARS: By the time I descend on you you will keep that your mouth shut.
I kept mute instantly cos one was already raising his gun up Long story short.
My mum now asked which unit they were with that he needs to speak with the DPO. Men Na today I know say those people sef no de get area. They go to every corner to hustle and steal.
They said they are from ASABA. From Asaba to down to GANA?(a village in agbarha close to ughelli) I was shocked.
They later settled and collected #30k and left.
That is SARS. Imagine Anti robbery now doing broad day robbery. Wetin concern SARS with drugs? |
