GMBuhari:if done correctly, it wunt be a problem, all you have to do is 1)ensure the promotion of cashless policies and implementation so you don't have to print too much cash at once 2) make sure that the tax they will pay in ensuring they can deposit their money is well used for printing of new currency. 3) declare no cash transfer in foreign corrency, if you want to spend one dollar, it must be done through banks 4) all foreign currencies must be deposited into bank accounts within 3 months of acquisition 1 Like |

Indians Rush Frantically to Launder Their ‘Black Money’ MUMBAI, India — Indians’ ingenuity is being mightily tested as they rush to save their “black money,” stashes of hundreds of thousands, even millions, of rupees they have accumulated without paying taxes. For decades, Indians have stuffed their mattresses with 500- and 1,000-rupee notes, the most widely circulated bills, worth the equivalent of a few dollars. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to tax that money. His strategy was to force Indians to reveal what they had been hoarding. How? He banned the bills and told people that they had to exchange them for new ones. The ban, which was announced on Nov. 8, has thrown the economy into chaos and sent Indians on a desperate search for some way, any way, to launder their accumulated money and avoid a financially disastrous loss. People can exchange the banned notes through the end of the year for smaller denominations or new bills that are being created. Because more affluent Indians are allowed to exchange only 250,000 rupees, or about $3,700, without proof that they paid taxes, some are handing wads of cash to poor people, paying them a fee to hold the money in their accounts and return it later. Others are thronging jewelry stores and designer boutiques, carrying suitcases of banned currency notes, begging to buy something with backdated receipts. “People felt, rather than turn my money into toilet paper, let me have a beautiful outfit,” Tina Tahiliani Parikh, the executive director of the Ensemble group of high-end Indian fashion stores, said in an interview. Some have thrown in the towel, rather than risking an investigation into their taxes, filling pillowcases and paper bags with the old currency and dumping them in the trash. Notes of 1,000 rupees, the equivalent of about $15, have been spotted floating down the Ganges River. About a third of all business in India is carried out using black money. Whole industries, like real estate, trading, luxury retailing and wedding services, have been fueled by black money for decades. They have slumped. Indians line up for hours in a quest for the 2,000-rupee notes that they are allowed to receive in exchange at banks and the 2,500-rupee notes that they can withdraw from A.T.M.s each day to pay for necessities. They often wait hours only to find that the bank or A.T.M. has run out of notes, which are scarce because the new ones are still being printed. The Supreme Court of India on Friday refused to block cases being brought in lower courts challenging Mr. Modi’s currency ban. The court said that people were frantic , and that the cases were a sign of a serious problem. The chairman of the Indian Banks’ Association said on Friday that all of the nation’s banks would limit the exchange of banned notes to older citizens and their own customers on Saturday so the staff could focus on normal banking. To a certain extent, analysts say, the Indian economy is so dependent on black money that economic dislocation was unavoidable if India was to seriously attack the problem. “In an emerging market economy like India, where corruption was deep rooted and long lasting, there is no way to put in place reform without significant disruption in the short run,” said Eswar S. Prasad, a professor of economics at Cornell University. The Mumbai novelist Namita Devidayal, in a Times of India column last week, described the efforts by many of India’s wealthy women to salvage “those happy little bundles which she would whip out of her cupboard safe.” Some were trying to pay their maids a year’s salary upfront, using the old notes, which the maids could ostensibly convert to new currency at the bank because the total was under the $3,700 limit. Others were paying for a year’s hairdressing services in the old notes. Still others were pressing personal trainers, yoga teachers and children’s tutors to take cash upfront for months of services. Ms. Devidayal argued in an interview that the wealthy were “always trying to find some bargain by saving on taxes” and were by far the biggest exploiters of the black money system. “I know wealthy women so used to handling cash they can tell how much money there is by the weight of a bundle,” she said. Ms. Parikh said some customers had shown up with suitcases of cash, beseeching her staff to pretend the purchases were made days earlier, which the staff refused to do. Some other luxury goods stores not only obliged customers but solicited them, sensing an opportunity, Ms. Parikh said. “Everyone has tricks up their sleeves, backdating bills,” she said. Real estate has been particularly hard hit by the ban on black money, since sale documents filed with the government typically reflect only the portion of the sale price paid by check. As a result, the sellers have no way of explaining to the tax authorities how they received the cash, which can account for as much as 60 percent of the deal. People who had just sold property were particularly out of luck, since they have not had a chance to spend or invest the cash they received. One man who had just received 3.5 million rupees, or about $51,000, in a real estate sale said he was hiring 14 low-income people to deposit the 250,000 rupees in old notes that they are allowed to exchange without raising questions. Such tactics, called bundling, are illegal in the United States. Whether these schemes are successful will depend on the scrutiny of bank officials and the tax authorities. The Modi administration has said it will exercise extreme vigilance to prevent them, but the Indian government’s record in the area of corruption is not strong. Nevertheless, the pledge to crack down has ignited such fear of future income tax investigations that some people have been dumping cash. Several garbage pickers in Mumbai have found pillow cases and sacks filled with cash in recent days, said Saumya Roy, the chief executive of the nonprofit Vandana Foundation, which makes loans to the garbage pickers, among other low-income residents in Mumbai and elsewhere. In a country where government oversight is weak, it has been easy to transact business in cash and to avoid taxes. Paying cash was also a way of avoiding the scrutiny of tax authorities who might question where a family, particularly that of a politician or wealthy business owner, had amassed the resources to spend enormous amounts of money on real estate or a wedding. “India is so crazy and complicated,” Ms. Devidayal said. “The option of not having black money is very much there, but because it’s so habitual and easy, and you can just say, ‘I had to do it,’ many people did.” Cash had become so ingrained in the real estate industry that it was difficult to make a deal without paying some portion under the table. When Ramanan Laxminarayan, a Princeton University senior research scholar, tried to buy an apartment in the New Delhi area, he was told that he would have to provide 60 percent of the purchase price, about $420,000, in cash to close the deal. Unable to raise such sums, he gave up trying to buy. “I said, ‘Is it legal?’ They said, ‘Of course not,’” Mr. Laxminarayan said. India’s lavish weddings have taken a big hit. Families that had stashed large amounts of black money to spend in the coming wedding season, which starts in December, are scrambling to make contingency plans. “This whole business is largely in cash,” from the caterer and musicians to the jeweler and ornate saris, said Satish Arora, a caterer and decorator in Faridabad, a city near Delhi. Several marriages planned for five-star hotels have been downscaled, he said. Now, the best many can manage is “a simple joint reception.” The luxury goods market also has been flattened. Business at some of Ms. Parikh’s Ensemble shops has dropped 60 percent since Mr. Modi announced his ban, she said. “We don’t know what will be normal in the future,” she said. © 2016 The New York Times Company |

[color=darkblue]8pm local time, things have calmed down a little, the hall has returned to normal, it Looked as if nothing had happened in the past one hour or so. If you just arrived in the room, you would think nothing spectacular happened, except when you take a closer look at mercy, she was thoroughly beaten. Don't take it as a one way fight, cus I later saw uzoma that same night and her condition was not better. I know that uzoma knows how to fight and does not shy away from it , but I was suprised (and can bet that uzoma was suprised too) that mercy could trow a few strong punches too. As I recalled the fight, if not that they both got tired quickly and same time, one of them will be in the hospital by now. 8:10 pm local time, mercy was on one of the beds, alone and Checking herself out, David was on another bed sleeping peacefully, "see this bastard dey sleep in time of war wey he cause" I thought, ade was gisting with the new babe on another bed while I was busy playing ps2 with one of the roomates called femi, the issue of Fetus has been partially forgotten and no one has sIghted him yet. 8:20pm, local time , ade said he is escorting mercy to her room and we should have dissappeared by the time he comes back with his babe, so the three left for a while. Me and femi where the last to leave the room cus we wanted to finish the game which ended up in penalties, I usually beat him, but my mind was not fully in the game. lost the game anyway , imagine Ronaldo (the real Ronaldo, the brazilian) lost the fifth penarity(as we all call it in those days before we all tried to turn ajebutter). David woke up and left before us, did not know where he went to until later. 8:40pm, local time, I was back in my room, gisted a little with my roomates, gave them few details about what happened upstairs then discovered that I was extremely hungry. Well its good, my body is now back in full sync, brain is in full control, can now detect body functions properly once again. So the decision was made, it's burger tonight(burger= bread and egg o )and I'm going for the big size 40 naira bread with 3 eggs instead of 30 naira bread(in those days 40 naira bread is like 100 naira today) So like a sure boy who wanted to have a big meal , I set out for the "ma tea" outside the hall, actually they where situated between two halls. Getting there, I joined the queue , ordered for my food and payed, I had to pay extra 10 naira so they can add extra pepper, onions and other ingredients. When it was finally prepared ,I decided to go back into the hostel. I was in a good mood, feeling "all iz well"(big bread and egg can bring out such feelings in you as a student)until I saw uzoma!, coming towards me with four other! gbim!, my heart skipped , I still wonder why it is my heart that always react first when it was my eyes that first sees things , can someone tell my why?. she was walking fast towards me , she was with 4 others, two guys and two girls. The following incident occurred thus: (other words where said that I cannot recall, but the major parts are stated below) uzoma: " anti-friend, wey David " me: "I don't have a lock on his present geographical location" uzoma: " wey mercy" me: " can't pin point her on my radar" uzoma: " guy talk straight, you think say this na play?, you know dey there when the thing start?, imagine sef, person dey fight me, she and those boys, you sef they support them" ME: (my mind was reeling, was she talking about the fight in the room or was she she talking about another fight, cus their was no boy talk less of boys fighting her in the room, it was 2 girls fighting o!, she must have sold a different story to this her gang o). I could not tell her that so I said " what are you saying na" uzoma: " what I'm I saying?, look my eye dey red here o!, you dey craze?" me : (slightly angry)"what's all this nonsense........." I never got to finish my sentence cus of what happened next. suddenly my horizontal elevation, that is , my ability to view the world at a certain height depreciated rapidly in less than a second from about 6 feet above ground level to less than one feet above ground level. If there was a physics or engineering student around, I bet they would have been able to tell me the laws that was applied to make such thing possible. From looking down at uzoma, I was suddenly looking up at her, dust was everywhere and a booth was placed on my head, instead of saying " what did I do" it was " wetin...We tin... wetin happen!" that came out of my mouth, wow!, my English was also broken by the fall.[/color] What do you think happened next ? stay tuned , comments will be appreciated! 20 Likes 1 Share |

[color=darkblue]Half of their bodies was under the table when they decided to sink their teeth into each other and screaming agonisingly at the same time. I do not know who bite who first and I do not think the boY's wanted to know at that moment also. Half of the boys dragged the girls out from under the table, though the dragging took less that five seconds but to totally separate the two girls from each others grip, that took about 30 to 45 seconds more, they firmly held on to each others hairs, not ready to let go first. At the same time some of the boys to David and started shaking him, one of the boys from another room said " let me give him mouth to mouth", another said " I Don dey suspect say you be gay"(which we all later came to know as true anyway)" mouth to mouth ko, lips to lips ni, will you get out!". To cut that part short , David later started moving, probably its the mouth to mouth thing he heard that got his brains to take control, I really don't know . I also think he did not really faint but was close to it,(I don't really know o, I'm not a doctor). The girls where silent during this brief period of not knowing if David has gone to see baba god or not, but as soon as they realised that he only booked ticked but did not take the flight, they started raining curses on each other , they did not try to move near each other cus as we can all see, both of them where extremely tired and in serious pain. I figured that uzoma should have been able to beat mercy to a pulp , but the intense s*X she had just prior to mercy"s appearance and the shock of finding Fetus in the locker had reduced her power battery by 50 to 60 percent. Yet she would not relent in the use of abusive speech, using 4 major Nigeria languages , English, yoruba, IgBo and pidgin. Mercy on the other hand, though not relenting inintially in replying abusively, only used English. Well mercy later shut up when uzoma started with her threats , she said uzoma:"woo, this night, you will walk this campus naked", I will not beat you again , but I go make sure you say regret the day you decided to tangle with me, me uzoma, I will show you fire!, boys will be slapping you everyday until you run away from this school" The above are the smallest of her threats , mercy was now silent (you could see slight fear on her face), boys who knew uzoma where leaving one by one(don't know why I was too stupid not to equally apply that idea, so I stayed). During uzoma's rants, ade, aka master Lee came into the room, he was with one fine babe(who knew mercy). Ade kept silent during most of usomas rants, but as she was about to finish , he ordered all the remaining external aliens out of the room, so It remained David, ade, ade's new catch, femi(roomate), one other roomate, mercy, uzoma, and I in the room. Uzoma soon left , promising to deal with mercy that same evening, ade prevented mercy from leaving , telling her to wait in the room that he will sort things out, mercy happy to hear someone will help quickly sat on one of the now "out of position" bed. We later found out that the reason for Adès stance was the statement his new catch ( the girl he brought into the room ) made, she ordered ade that nothing must happen to mercy on campus. YOur might be confused about the story at this point, i was confused when i discovered this part of the story too, why would an unknown girl give ade, whose only aim of coming to the university is to get a degree in nacking, such command. My confusion was later cleared few days later , the fact is that none of the boys in the room, including me, knew who ade is or was at all. Later, MMM-Invest was created for the purpose of collecting vouchers during privatisation. This effort was similarly unsuccessful. MMM created its successful Ponzi scheme in 1994. The company started attracting money from private investors, promising annual returns of up to one thousand percent. It is unclear whether a Ponzi scheme was Mavrodi's initial intention, inasmuch as such extravagant returns might have been possible during the Russian hyperinflation in such commerce as import-export. MMM grew rapidly. In February 1994, the company reported dividends of 1,000%, and started an aggressive TV ad campaign. Since the shares were not quoted on any stock exchange and the company itself determined the share price, it maintained a steady price growth of thousands of percent annually, leading the public to believe its shares were a safe and profitable investment. An important factor in the scheme's success was word of mouth, but most of the company's success came from its extremely aggressive ad campaign, which appealed to the general public by using "ordinary" characters that viewers could identify with. The most famous of them, a "folk hero" of early 1994, was Lyonya Golubkov. Another notable marketing effort was a giveaway of free Metro trips to all Moscow citizens on a particular day. MMM also was one of the first well-known companies in Russia with a logotype and slogans ("Flying from shadow to the light" and others).[citation needed] At its peak the company was taking in more than 100 billion rubles (about 50 million USD) each day from the sale of its shares to the public. Thus, the cashflow turnover at the MMM central office in Moscow was so high that it could not be estimated. The management started to count money in roomfuls (1 roomful of money, 2 roomfuls of money, etc.). Regular publication in the media of the rising MMM share price led President Boris Yeltsin to issue a decree in June 1994 prohibiting financial institutions from publicising their expected income. The success of MMM in attracting investors led to the creation of other similar companies, including Tibet, Chara,Khoper-Invest, Selenga, Telemarket, and Germes. All of these companies were characterised by aggressive television advertising and extremely high promised rates of return. One company promised annual returns of 30,000%. On July 22, 1994, the police closed the offices of MMM for tax evasion. For a few days the company attempted to continue the scheme, but soon ceased operations. At that point, Invest-Consulting, one of the company's subsidiaries, owed more than 50 billion rubles in taxes (USD 26 million), and MMM itself owed between 100 billion and 3 trillion rubles to the investors (from USD 50 million to USD 1.5 billion). In the aftermath at least 50 investors, having lost all of their money, committed suicide. Several organisations of "deceived investors" made efforts to recover their lost investments, but Sergei Mavrodi manipulated their indignation and directed it at the government. In August 1994 Mavrodi was arrested for tax evasion. However, he was soon elected to the Russian State Duma, with the support of the "deceived investors". He argued that the government, not MMM, was responsible for people losing their money, and promised to initiate a pay-back program. The amount ultimately paid back was minuscule compared to the amount owed. In October 1995, the Duma cancelled Mavrodi's right to immunity as a deputy. In 1996, he tried to run for Russia's presidency, but most of the signatures he received were rejected. MMM declared bankruptcy on September 22, 1997. While it was believed that Sergei Mavrodi left Russia and moved to the United States, it is possible that he stayed in Moscow, using his money to change apartments regularly and employ a group of former special agents. With the help of a distant relative he started Stock Generation Ltd., another pyramid scheme based around trading non-existent companies' stocks in a form of the "stock exchange game" on the company's site, stockgeneration.com. Despite a bold-letter warning on the main page that the site was not a real stock exchange, between 20,000 and 275,000 people, according to various estimates, fell for the promised 200% returns and lost their money. According to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, losses of victims were at least USD 5.5 million. Mavrodi was found and arrested in 2003. While in custody, Mavrodi was given until January 31, 2006 to read the documents in his fraud case against him (The criminal case consisted of 650 volumes, each 250-270 pages long).[citation needed] At the end of April 2007, Mavrodi was convicted of fraud, and given a sentence of four and a half years. Since he had already spent over four years in custody, he was released less than a month later, on May 22, 2007. He later went on to creating yet another pyramid scheme called MMM-2011. The MMM scandal led to increased regulation of the Russian stock market, but the legacy of the fraud led many to become extremely suspicious of any joint stock companies. In 2015 MMM began operating in South Africa with the same business model as MMM-2011, claiming a "30% per month" return through a "social financial network". The group was identified as a possible pyramid scheme by the National Consumer Commission and accounts of clients were later frozen by Capitec Bank. In response to mounting criticism and official investigations by state authorities in 2016 supporters of the South African MMM scheme staged a protest march in Johannesburg. I think both of them must have lived in the village cus they just went from boxing mode to wrestling mode in split seconds , alternating it with hair grabbing, neck scratching etc, but the general idea was to slam the other on the ground!. well, that was a good idea anyway, the matresses were not helping either of them, they were trying to use the uneven fight ground to an advantage while at the same time not being a victim to a slip. The fighting continued, and I was wondering, where is David , why is he not separating them , abi he Don run comot?. This girls really injured each other , not the bloody kind of injury, but the small small skin peeling kind of injury that will leave you in a bad state for days. At this point their where noises outside, boys where gathering to know what was going on in the room. The roomate who was in the locker with me had Decided to escape without beeing seen, he pretended as if he was just coming into the room and was followed by about 5 boys. I decided to leave the locker and join them, they did not notice too, all eyes where on the two girls fighting. I took in the whole scenario , that was when I saw David on the floor, lifeless, no movement, arms spread in an "I Don die" position, it was later we learnt that when the fight started , he tried to intervene but was pushed, this resulted in him loosing his footing and slamming his head on the wall, so na David head make that sound I heard when they started fighting. The girls where still fighting , or at least uzoma was still trying to fight and mercy was trying to guide herself. All of a sudden uzoma pushed mercy and they both fell, in a bid for uzoma to be on top of mercy and mercy's attempt to prevent that, they both found themselves under the table. This brought about a no-win situation, uzoma could not rise up to gain upper hand, mercy could not push her off, they where both stuck with no room to manuever under the table. Some of the boys where having a good time, thus they prevented me and some others from intervening,(not that I really wanted to anyway) " make them fight jaremail, leave them", I get they wanted to see the girls fight naked. Well two things caused the fight to end, one was the realisation that David was in a bad shape, one guy went to him and said " this guy Don die o", when some boys heard that statement, they simple evaporated, they where no longer in the room. This movement made it impossible for me to see what happened next (though I later knew what happened and will tell you ), but what I heard next was a very loud whack!, a very loud scream, and the sound of a human head hitting the wall[/color] whose head do you think hit the wall, what do you think happened after? you can drop your view when you comment ! [color=darkblue]4pm, I never thought I'll dread that time, not for me actually , but for David who had gotten himself involved in a game with two determined girls who felt losing him to the other girl meant more than just a breakup. This is where I got to understand a little bit more about the phycology of women, expecially girls who are self confident and feel they are better than the average girl. When another girl wants to take something personal from them using her feminine powers, they go balistic, they will show or try to show they are more woman than the other woman. I think most women believe that if a woman takes or snatches your guy , then she is better than you and no self confident woman who is in love will allow that. Girls who say they can't fight over boyfriend are categorised in the following categories. 1. The boyfriend is not her number one, so she is not really pissed if things go bad. Under this are those who have multiple boyfriends, those who like different things in different guys and those who have boyfriend for other reasons other than a relationship. 2. The boyfriend is not really a boyfriend, just a guy that is taking care of some few emotional needs at the moment, she can easily find another or elevate another one from friendzone department. Under these are those who find it hard to love, or easy not to love, those who like emotional attachment but can't give it back or elevate it from "I just like him" kinda feeling. 3. She is not self confident and has felt she will lose to the other woman even before the fight begins. Under this category are girls who exhume confidence but are actually not confident about themself, girls wHo fear competition and girls who are just not capable of feeling confident when another girl steps into their territory. That said, let's go back to 4pm, earlier that day , David has told the boys of his plan, this included no one being in the room when either girls come knocking. well this plan got knocked down by our yet to be famous born again roomate(remember I told you about that guy)his name is festus, later called "fetus", cus we felt (or later knew)he really is still not born the first time talk less of again. Festus said he is not going anywhere and no amount of begging will change his mind. knowing fully well that festus is not capable of denying uzoma entrance into the room( he no get liver) aDe now warned David that if the girls enter and destroy his properties cus of one silly fighting, David will buy brand new ones. This put an end to any attempt by David to abscond by 4pm. Because of my views that I should start limiting my interference in the whole issue , I decided also not to be around by 4pm, I promised myself that I will be in my room and hear the "stories that touch" later. so by 4pm, I was in my room , therefore I was not an eye witness until around 6 when I became one, why and when I became and eye witness will be revealed in the story below, the story below is revealed after different facts are gathered from the different participants. uzoma came around 4pm and met David and festus in the room, she and David started talking as if they don't have issues on ground. around five pm it started rainning heavily, so David felt mercy will not be able to show up, he became more relaxed and started romancing uzoma, uzoma thought this is a chance to make such that David stays only with her and thus initially formed "hard to touch" while asking a series of questions. " do you love me?" " will you break my heart again?". You know girls love to ask those kind of questions when serious agro has hooked person. Well as usual for most guys, DavId kept giving the answers she wanted to hear, so they started kissing. At this point, Festus, who was forming not interested, decided to leave the room, he met one of the roomates who is in another room and told him what was happening. The other roomate said he was going to watch film, festus asked how, he stupidly told him the secret, thinking as a potential pastor , he will keep it to himself. The roomate came to me first so we can go together (this is where my eye witness story began), and I did not know when I agreed to that stupid voice in my head saying "go watch film, e go sweet die". Like goat we no dey hear word , me and the other roomate found ourself in the room, inside the lockers watching as uzoma and David where increasing the temperature in the room due to intense friction of their bodies. For the first time, they started slowly, missionary style , looking onto each other eyes, uzoma was holding his face and staring at him while having her legs locked round his arse. David was slowly grinding away, not changing the slow tempo, not changing position, he was like a machine whining with precision. David opened the locker and he and uzoma exclaimed at the same time " FESTUS!!!, what are you doing inside here"(ugh?, the roomates name is not festus na!)
