Actress, Stella Damasus’ third marriage to movie producer, Daniel Ademinokan, crashed sometime last year, and to the surprise of many, she revealed during the week that she found out about the end of the union on video sharing platform, YouTube. However, Ademinokan has apparently moved on as he was alleged to have remarried another lady. The news of their crashed marriage caught many by surprise, particularly because when the going was good, the couple was often engaged in public displays of affection. At one time, Damasus described her ex-partner as her ‘best friend and soul mate’. On Daniel’s birthday on July 31, 2020, Stella had described him as an exceptional husband. She wrote on Instagram, “It is my husband’s birthday, and I am grateful to God for such a special gift. Daniel, you are an amazing and exceptional husband and father. You have been a blessing in my life; a teacher, friend, and pastor. I love you so much, boo. Thank you for making me feel special every single day. Thank you for being so selfless and caring…” Meanwhile, in the early days of their marriage, Stella was criticised by many, who felt she was instrumental to the crash of Ademinokan’s marriage to another actress, Doris Simeon. Many also stated that she should have prevailed on Ademinokan not to take the son, David, he had with Doris to the United States of America with Stella. However, in an interview with a media personality, Emma Emerson, in December 2014, Stella addressed those issues. She said, “I am not a kid. I am 36 years old. I am not about to start hiding myself. I was waiting for somebody to actually ask me this question, because all I had heard for the past three years were rumours. If I steal something from somebody, and the person is really the owner of the thing, the person should come and ask me, ‘you took something from me, give me back’. But nobody did that. “Did anybody ever ask, what went wrong? Why would a man pick up his son and walk away from his marriage?” She also claimed that her marriage to Ademinokan was one of necessity in the first place. In an interview with Teju Babyface during the week, she said, “Religion made us (she and Daniel) marry when we were not supposed to. “He was my friend. He was awesome, but as a couple, things did not work out. We messed things up. When we went our separate ways, out of love and respect for each other, we did not talk about it. We just left it as it was. People blamed me for this last one (marriage crash) but they didn’t know what happened. “We were attending a church together. I was a chorister, while he was the choir director. The leaders of the church felt that what we were doing was wrong because we were church workers and we needed to set examples. They felt we would be tempted to do things. “At that point, I was doing more church work and did not focus on my spiritual life. I followed the church blindly because I did not want to offend them. He (Daniel) was not even ready, and we did not know each other well. When we got married, we realized that we were not compatible.” Stella also seems to have moved on. She has been posting beautiful pictures of herself, and her two daughters on social media. Some celebrities, such as Kate Henshaw, Mofe Duncan, and Bouqui, have also been showing their solidarity, as they often engage with her posts. https://punchng.com/from-soul-mate-to-ex-hubby-how-stella-damasus-third-marriage-crashed/?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1691217306

A new church called Ogbanje Church of All Nations has been opened in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Members of the congregation had their first worship service at the church, where they sang and danced to a compilation of songs eulogising the names of some popular river goddesses in Nnewi. This was corroborated by a video currently trending in social media, showing members of the church as they rejoiced and danced to the tune of songs composed in praise of goddesses of some popular rivers in Nnewi. While addressing the congregation at the uncompleted building, the cleric, presiding over the service, advised the congregation to worship what they know, rather than what they don’t know. The clergyman, who did not mention his name, spoke in Igbo and said people had used the names of Bethsaida, Jericho, Samaria, and some other biblical locations to compose songs without knowing the meaning of those locations Supported by echoes of joy and commendations from the congregation, the cleric who did not mention his name, thereafter began singing a praise song in reverence to the Ogbanje, while the church members cheerfully dance around in joy. He said, “People usually sing and dance to songs composed with names and places in the Bible while they do not actually know who, what, or where they are and what they represent. It is high time we started going back to our culture and tradition. While proudly identifying as an Ogbanje, the cleric claimed that he and other people who were Ogbanje “usually shine, prosper and live fine from year to year because they worship the rivers and the goddesses of the rivers they know, rather than those unknown to them”. https://punchng.com/ogbanje-church-opens-in-anambra/?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1691217234

Coup: Customs announces closure of all borders with Niger Republic Mr Adewale said the decision for the total blockage of the borders was to comply with ECOWAS’ directive to suspend the movement of cargo until further notice. NCS’ acting controller general Bashir Adewale[ Credit; Contents101] NCS’ acting controller general Bashir Adewale[ Credit; Contents101] The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially announced the closure of all land borders linking Nigeria with the Niger Republic due to the recent coup d’etat in the West African country. The NCS’ acting controller general, Bashir Adewale, made this known on Friday during a visit to the Jibia border in Katsina. Mr Adewale said the decision for the total blockage of the borders was to comply with the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS)’s directive to suspend the movement of cargo until further notice. He added that as part of measures to ensure 100 per cent compliance, they will sensitise the border communities. The acting controller general said the decision was taken in the interest of peace and stability between the two countries. Mr Adewale said he had visited the deputy governor of Katsina state regarding the issue of the sensitisation. In a swift response to the military coup in the Niger Republic on June 27, ECOWAS also enforced a no-flight zone over the country. Some of the sanctions from ECOWAS are the suspension of trade, diplomacy and financial services to the country; a no-fly zone has also been declared over Niger and its military hierarchy. The West African slammed sanctions on the coup plotters, giving them one week to give up power or face possible military intervention. This significant move, which includes air and land border closure, is seen as a crucial reaction to the recent ascendancy of the junta, which has stirred significant unrest in the country and poses a threat to political stability within the region. ECOWAS had announced a one-week ultimatum for coup leaders in Niger to hand over power to the democratically elected government of President Mohamed Bazoum. Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has warned the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) against military intervention in the Republic of Niger. ECOWAS had announced a one-week ultimatum for coup leaders in Niger to hand over power to the democratically elected government of President Mohamed Bazoum. The decision was made following an extraordinary session of the ECOWAS member states on Sunday in Abuja presided over by its chairman, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria. The ECOWAS has also reeled out a number sanctions against Niger Republic following the recent coup d’etat in the West African country. In a statement posted on Twitter on Thursday, Atiku, the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, said, “The military intervention in the Republic of Niger has created tension across the West Africa sub-region, and it is a development that has caused international attention to that neighbouring country of ours. “The putsch is even more worrisome because the number of states that have witnessed military intervention in the last three years in the subregion is increasing. “Of course, the world expects Nigeria to take up leadership in ensuring that the crisis of political leadership in the Republic of Niger is not just curtailed but also ensuring the restoration of democratic governance in that country. “While the expectations that fall on Nigeria as the sub-regional leader is not a quick fix, it must be expressed that the role taken so far by the Economic Community of West African States has been commendable. “As the ECOWAS continues to work towards reinstating democracy in the Republic of Niger, it must be reinforced that the regional body should not travel the road of military hostilities that may exacerbate the status quo. “The crisis in the Republic of Niger requires diplomatic engagements, and that must mean that the channels for dialogue should be well sustained. “While the world expects Nigeria to take a leading role in this process of peaceful conflict resolution, it must be clear to the military insurrectionists in the Republic of Niger that the world cannot afford to wait for too long before this crisis is resolved reasonably. “This is undoubtedly a challenging time for the West African region. However, any actions taken towards the prompt resolution of the crisis in the Republic of Niger must prioritize democracy as the ultimate victor.” https://saharareporters.com/2023/08/03/atiku-warns-tinubu-led-ecowas-against-military-action-niger-republic
