https://www.ohgizmo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Nubrella.jpg Normally simple or easy tasks become complicated when it’s raining outside. From crossing the road to get to your favorite diner or walking a few blocks to where you parked, there’s the extra hassle of having to carry an umbrella while lugging around your usual stuff. Often people have to make two trips or more because they simply can’t carry everything at once. It’s times like these when an extra hand (and we mean that literally) would be helpful. That’s probably what Alan Kaufman had in mind when he came up with the Nubrella, which he dubs as “the world’s first hands-free umbrella.” I wouldn’t say it’s the first (remember the Umbrella Hat?), but it is the first that looks well-thought out and well-designed. https://www.ohgizmo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Nubrella1.jpg The Nubrella is essentially a hoodie umbrella. It was designed to be worn like a backpack and function like a hood, so expanding and folding the canopy is a breeze. It provides stability that traditional umbrellas don’t and gives users extra coverage, thanks to the extended canopy on the sides and rear. The Nubrella’s was also designed such that the wind would flow over and around the canopy without the possibility of inverting it, as is the problem with regular umbrellas. The best thing about it, though, is that you get one hand back. The Nubrella is up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $50 will get you one of your very own. www.ohgizmo.com/2013/07/05/nubrella-is-a-funny-looking-hands-free-umbrella/ |

All shy guys are faced with one dilemma – to let know or to not let know – when it comes to their love interest. Usually , they never let you know directly unless you give some body language. Here are some signs that a shy guy likes you. 1. He Avoids Direct Eye Contact: If a shy guy is in love with you, he would talk through his eyes but not directly. Shy guys stare if they like you, that’s a fact, but they are quick to avoid your eye contact if you gaze in their direction. They just can’t maintain eye contact for long and they will either look down or sideways. He would stare almost unconsciously at you but when he sees you looking at him he will become very self conscious and avert his gaze. He might give you a polite smile if you catch him staring but he will look away while doing so. 2. He Blushes When You Talk to Him: You can see a pink flush on his cheeks if you flirt with him or get close to him or even if you just have a casual conversation. Shy guys are overly sensitive and self conscious, he’s been thinking or even obsessing about you in his mind and when you talk to him, he blushes. 3. He Becomes Self Conscious When You are Around: If you see him touching up his hair, scratching his face, twirling his fingers or getting fidgety whenever you are around, it would indicate that he has become very self conscious in your presence. This is definite sign of a shy guy liking you. 4. He Stammers While Talking to You: How to know if a shy guy likes you? Just talk to him and you will know. Just start a casual conversation and see how he reacts to you. If he stammers back a reply, while looking all around the room but at you, then you know he really likes you. 5. He Gets Your Number from Your Friends and Calls You Up: It is quite natural for a shy guy to never ask for your number directly. If he’s really interested in you, he might take up the courage to get your number from your friends, and then call you up. 6. He is Very Sensitive to Your Touch: If you happen to touch him playfully, or just casually, he might respond as if he’s got an electric shock. You will see his face go all pink, he might suddenly move away or just get overly self- conscious. It just shows your touch means a lot to him. 7.He Offers to Help You With Your Work: This might be one way he will try to approach you. He will offer to help you with your work or offer to drop you home. This is a big step for a shy guy and you should take it as a definite sign that he likes you and is in love with you. But the way we Nigerians follow european languages is way too much. Thereby our own heritage is diminishing. Americans now have interest in what we don't value |
A Yoruba Language expert, Dr. Moses Mabayoje, has stressed the need to intensify efforts in the study and use of Yoruba language to guard against its extinction. Dr. Mabayoje, who is a university lecturer, said this while presenting 10 students, on a two-month course on Yoruba from two American universities, to the Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Adewole, on Friday. During the Summer Intensive Yoruba Course between University of Ibadan and the University of Florida, United States of America, the students visited Yoruba towns and tourist centres during the programme. The university lecturer expressed satisfaction with efforts of UI to propagate Yoruba language through the establishment of the Yoruba Language Centre: "The Yoruba Language is facing serious problem of extinction. "This is the first time we are doing the exchange programme. The programme, which is taking place between the University of Florida and the University of Ibadan, is expected to run for four years. "In my first year of sojourn abroad, many people asked me to teach them and their children how to speak the language. One man called Femi Odediran, who married a Chinese woman, asked us to teach his wife and children Yoruba language. "We should take the study and use of the language very seriously so that we would not end up learning the language from the whites. We should not lose the language because it is our heritage. Yoruba Language is the only symbol of unity for the people and an important binding force. "As the language is facing extinction in Yorubaland, it is taking roots in other lands, where the language is considered as one of the important languages in Africa. In spite of this, Yoruba is regarded as one of the endangered languages. "The students from American universities, have learnt so much about the language and culture within the period in the country. They appreciate the culture of hospitality and they would like to go further in the study." Prof. Adewole added that the university would ensure that the teaching and learning of Yoruba Langauge were intensified. "Proficiency in the language is of immense benefit. We have pledged that we would do all within our reach to improve the study of Yoruba Language. One of the things that we would do is to give the Yoruba Language Centre an additional lecture theatre. "We would make provision for a projector and other learning materials. Many people in the university community, who cannot speak Yoruba, would be exposed to the language," he said. Among the foreign students were medical students, an architect, a computer science student and others taking courses on Africa and humanities. Speaking on behalf of others, Oluwabunmi Fayiga from the University Florida, and Oluwadamilola Shonaike from University of Texas, described Yoruba language as fascinating, saying they were not encouraged to use the language as young learners. http://m.naij.com/news/44133.html |
