When I use Mobil 1 extended performace for my uber cars . I change oil every 10k miles instead of 15k miles. This is due to the stress that uber does on the engine of the car.. When a car is on ehailing, you are constantly stopping and go . The engine is constantly running either in traffic or standby.. So you need a good engine oil that will protect your engine ......

Now if you are not doing uber with your car . And you decide to use Mobil 1 extended performance.. To be on the safe side , I will advice to still change your oil every 10k miles ... So that you will have peace of mind at all times...

Now if you are using Castrol USA import ... you can change your oil every 7k miles for normal driving.
The truth is, I don't think I can be able to achieve 10k miles or 7k miles anytime soon, cos I don't drive much, which begs the question, how long can the oil stay in my engine before changing it even when I didn't achieve 7k or 10k mileage?

My brother I like anything that saves me money.. The reason why I like Mobil 1 oil , especially Extended Performance oil. I don't have to worry about changing oil up and down. With good oil filter that is good for 15k miles interval. I do my oil change every 12k miles .. Keep in mind my cars are constantly running on uber.. Constant stop and go ,braking etc .. These cars on uber are constantly running up and down .. So you need good quality oil to keep your engine running smooth.. Mobil 1 extended performace does the job well.. And it saves me trip from the mechanic.. Am trying to avoid been the mechanic best friend.. It can be an expensive relationship
How long can someone leave the oil in the engine if he doesn't achieve the 12k miles, can the oil stay in the engine of 1 year?

20w50 engine oil on a Tokunko Rx 350? You need to flee from that mechanic my brother ....If the engine gets damage do you know the cost of it ..
And is one thing to get get a mechanic to replace the engine. And another thing for them to do it right..

As the cars improves in technology you need mechanics that are also update in the new technology .. Unfortunately most mechanics are not update on new technology.. Take care of your car my brother and use genuine parts for that car to get the full benefits....

Below is a special request a client of mine requested for his currant car .. The car is a 2015 model car , I forget the brand.. If you need genuine parts for your car ,let me know ahead of time ......
Actually It's a 2003 toyota corolla sport car and not lexus rx350. What's the cost of the oil, I understand my car will take 4litres of oil, also will I need to change the oil filter too?

Synthetic is always better if your car requires it or has higher miles (though you car does not require synthetic if you choose not to use it). Brand is not as important as it being 5w30. That being said, we have our carquest brand in both conventional and synthetic, mobil 1 synthetic is popular in Nigeria though you have to be wary of fakes. From what I understand dru23 sells the real stuff if you want mobil one. Enyo sells genuine Castrol. Those three sources should be okay.

In case you don't have your manual I've posted the fluids specs for your car.
I will love to get the carquest synthetic oil, also I will like to know how many miles or how many months will I have to drive the car before another oil change? Will I need to change the oil filter too? Also can I bring the car to your garage for the oil change? Then finally, what's the cost?

There's your answer. Drain and use right oil then see if it changes. Hopefully it's okay
Which company brand of oil would you recommend please, also will it be synthetic or conventional oil?

Could be any number of things. Fuel system, emissions... If you have someone who can scan that's where you should start. We are still closed. Range of full tank on that vehicle should be closer to 400 miles
Hi, I got the car scanned and not code popped up. But I recently discovered that the mechanic that serviced the car used 20w50 oil on it instead of the recommended 5w30, when I asked him why he didn't use 5w30, he said that's for Americans, that here in Nigeria is 20w50 undecided. I also checked the plugs, and everything is in good condition, the plugs inside are denso iridium.

Tentatively June 1st...
Please help me analyse this ma'am, last week I filled the tank and reset the trip meter to 0, when it got to half tank I've covered 81.7 miles which is approximately 131km, as of this evening the low fuel light came on and I've covered 156.4 miles which is approximately 251km. I think my car consumes lots of fuel or is the fuel consumption normal? I did more of city driving with ac on, also I don't have checked engine light on or any warning light on.

Good day house, I got a tokubo 2003 corolla sport, I filled the tank as of last week, this evening its on half tank and I have covered 81.7 miles which is approximately 131km, please is this normal or do my car gulp fuel? I've no engine light on, no warning light whatsoever. My fan doesn't come on when I start the vehicle, I guess that means my thermostat is still functional.

That does absolutely nothing here in Nigeria. Go to the uber driver thread and ask about their experiences. Most frequently stolen are the lights, ECU, handles and radio. NOT cheap. Also, the one you are looking at is an auction car. If you do not have a mechanic who can check it out BEFORE you buy it, I would leave it alone. It's not normal for just windshield damage to send a car to auction.
Thanks Alot, really appreciate, I've had a car Inspector check the car, even scanned it, and nothing seems to be wrong with the car, he only noticed the rear fender bends due to the accident, he also said the back wheel drum is rusty, that I just need to repaint it, he also told never to allow any mechanic remove my thermostat, that when I told him I can only go to your garage for maintenance. As for the theft issue, I want to install for a security system in the car and also car tracker, also where I live is quite secured enough, we are only 3 in a compound and the fence is surrounded with barb wires.

I actually love the corolla, it looks new and only has 51k mileage, I ran a vin on the car, the last recorded mileage on the vin report was 47k and was August 2019. And the accident report was on the rear windscreen, which I will say is not bad at all. It's a 2003 corolla sport, but that car looks newer more than 2006 or 2007 corolla out there. I will love to bring the car to your garage so you guys can check it out for me.

Definitely the sonata but what exactly are you using it for?
Nothing much though. Just feel the need to get a car for work and all that, because I find it really difficult with transportation here in lagos, bikes are no longer operating in my area, getting keke na wahala, just 2 passengers keke don full, and no much keke for this side. But from the report I gathered, I'm told the sonata maintenance cost Alot, and it has a history of engine problems. A friend actually advised me to go for toyota corolla (uber type) since its just a knockabout car I need.
Car TalkRe: Camry Air Conditioner Automatic Compressor Conversion By Technicians by anyibig: 2:44am On May 08, 2020
GAZZUZZ:
thank you inception.

Here are my views as regards variable displacement compressors (automatic)

In the corrola 2007-11 south african spec, what I have noticed is between 70-100 thousand kilometers of use, the compressor fails.

On the kia/hyundai products bought brand new in nigeria, the compressor fails between 36-70,000 kilometers of use

for the particular car in question camry 07-12 I have seen a couple that were bought brand new fail before they hit 100,000kms.

For cars bought from cold climates like Canada their a/c systems tend to last much longer due to lack of use by the original owner and I have seen toyota camry @ 295,000 miles with stock AC parts.

The VDC compressor is new technology, but not very reliable.

Now here is the problem. The VDC compressor does not tolerate a contaminated system, and the strainer for the solenoid that operates the swash plate will get clogged very quickly and the compressor will shut down.

When a VDC compressor fails, if the system is clean, a replacement of the compressor and condenser should ordinarily fix the problem.

But when the system is dirty you will have serious issues, and more parts will have to be replaced. A replacement of the evaporator condenser, and compressor becomes necessary, with a proper flush of all pipes.

Most technicians prefers to work with parts that can be tested by hand before parting with money. As a result they frown at the VDC compressor because ordinarily it can only be tested when installed in a vehicle (VDC compressors can be tested on a bench with a motor and a belt to create torque)

Also the thought of bringing down the dashboard in most cases makes the technician embrace the manual fixed displacement compressor.

The manual. FDC compressor can tolerate a lot of dirt in a system for a long time without breaking down. I am presently working on a hilux made in 2014, at 98,000km (mechanical work) but I peaked into the a.c system, and on discharging a little gas from the high side, my fingers became very black. Note the a.c cools perfectly.

There is no way of knowing how long a compressor has been used by just looking at it, for the manual FDC blocking the discharge point while spinning the pulley could give a perception of the amount of compression one would get from a compressor.

Another issue with the VDC is no seller in the ladipo market will give you a guarantee on a used compressor. There is distrust between seller and buyer, seller always feels the technician would cut corners, while buyer feels he was sold a defective part, it does not always end well in most cases.

If your vehicle uses a VDC (automatic compressor) and it fails, have it at the back of your mind that a new replacement will be the best option, but it comes a pricey tag, the cheapest brand new VDC starts from 100k for the look alike chinko versions, and gets to about 250k for some OEMs.

So it's more of cut your coat according to your size.

If you can afford it and you are ready to do it the right way, go for the best/ OEM.

Hope this helps.
