Anything modest will do considering the fact that the profession is considered a modest amd conservative one. Just consider u getting to a hospital wanting to c a doctor and u r directed to an office with a man on braids dressed like derenle eden or like a popstar? U won't have any confidence in dem treating u.
I keep beards, but I make sure my beards are clean and leveled enough to make me look modest amd not like a thug or rap star.
Same applies to ladies.

Health / Re: Doctors’ Strike Paralyses Ekiti Teaching Hospital by apese: 9:03pm On Apr 16, 2016
dridowu:
The fates patients on admission at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital are now hanging in the balance owing to a strike embarked on by members of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) because of unpaid four months salaries.

When journalists visited the university teaching hospital on Saturday, some of the patients complained that the doctors had practically abandoned their duty posts since Monday April 11 and this had deprived them of efficient medical treatments.

Some of the patients, who spoke under anonymity , said those diagnosed for critical ailments had pressed for referral to private hospitals and Federal Teaching Hospital , Ido Ekiti, to prevent sudden death.

A top member of the hospital’s management team who reacted to the strike under anonymity because he was not authorized to speak said:

“We are speaking to the striking doctors , but it seems as if they are recalcitrant , they didn’t want to bow to pressure at all.

Health / Re: Renal Failure Signs In Pregnancy by apese: 11:24am On Apr 15, 2016
naphunlimited:
Recognizing signs of renal failure can be a bit difficult. Unless she undergoes routine medical and laboratory tests, there's no definitive way of concluding the diagnosis.

Here are signs to look out for -

1. Changes in urinary pattern - When you're pregnant, it's common to feel the need to use the bathroom more. The hormonal fluctuations cause your body to produce more urine than the usual. The pressure of the uterus to your urinary bladder also adds up to the urge to urinate. Because changes in your urinary pattern are expected, it can easily mask the symptoms of renal failure.

Amber colored or blood tinged urine
Flank pain
Fever
Burning sensation when urinating
Swelling of the face

2. High blood pressure - During pregnancy, your blood volume increases to accommodate you and your baby. Because there's an increase in blood volume, an increase in blood pressure is also expected. Unfortunately, this change also means more work for your kidneys.

Too much pressure and blood volume, in the long run, can damage the blood vessels in your renal tract. Once they are damaged, they become ineffective in filtering out waste products. As a result, there's water retention and toxins remain inside your system as well. If these waste materials aren't removed from your body, there's a good chance that they won't only pose harm to you but to your baby as well.

Pets / Re: MUST READ: 10 Surprising Benefits Of Having A Dog You Didn’t Know About by apese: 2:48pm On Apr 14, 2016
logadims:
Dogs offer more than just companionship. If
you’ve got a furry friend already, you likely
have quite a few reasons to thank your dog. If
you’re considering getting a pooch, check out
these surprising benefits of having a dog.

1. You’ll exercise more. Owning a dog can motivate you to exercise
every day. On those days when it might be
easy to skip a workout, looking at your dog
standing by the door waiting to go for a walk
can give you the push you need to get out
there. Taking your dog for a 30 minute walk every day can greatly improve your health.

2. You’ll feel less stressed. There have been lots of studies that have
shown how dogs decrease stress levels. Petting
your dog, playing with your dog, and simply
watching your dog can reduce your stress each
day. Research shows that dog ownership
reduces stress hormones and the effects usually outweigh the stress caused by caring for a dog.

3. Your social life may improve. Not only does walking your dog help you to
get exercise, it might also help you get a date.
People are more likely to stop and talk with you
when you’re walking a dog. Going to the dog
park or taking your dogs to run errands can
also lead to strangers striking up conversations with you about your dog.

4. You may detect cancer sooner. A dog’s amazing sense of smell can be used for
a variety of purposes, including cancer
detection. Many dog owners have reported
their dog sniffing, licking, or nudging spots that
later turned out to be cancerous. One of the
unexpected benefits of having a dog is that it may even save your life by helping you to
detect cancer.

5. Your kids will be less likely to
have allergies. Children who are raised around a dog are less
likely to have allergies. In fact, living in a home
with a dog can help kids grow up to have an
increased immunity to pet allergies later in life.

6. Your heart will be healthier. Studies have shown that petting a dog lowers
a person’s heart rate. Therefore, dog owners
are more likely to have a healthy heart. In fact,
some research has shown that dog owners are
much more likely to survive a heart attack
compared to non-dog owners. Male pet owners in particular tend to experience a reduced rate
of heart disease.

7. You’re less likely to feel
depressed. The benefits of dog ownership extend to your
mental health as well. Dog owners are less
likely to be depressed. Dog owners who have
been diagnosed with clinical depression aren’t
likely to be as depressed as other people. Caring for a dog helps relieve symptoms of depression
and encourages people to be more positive.

8. You can grow old gracefully. Dog ownership benefits elderly people in many
ways. Alzheimer’s patients have fewer
outbursts when there is a dog in the home.
Care givers of elderly patients report less stress.
Dogs offer wonderful companionship for the
elderly as well.

9. Your risk for general illness
decreases. Dog owners experience fewer health problems.
Dog owners tend to have lower triglyceride
and cholesterol levels compared to non-dog
owners. Dogs expose their owners to a lot of
germs, which can help build up a human’s
immunity to disease. As a result, dog owners get sick less often and less severely than non-
dog owners.

10. You’ll feel safer. Dogs can be an effective home security system.
Studies show that barking dogs deter burglars.
Just knowing that you’ve got a dog who can
use its keen sense of hearing to detect anyone
prowling around can help increase your sense
of security, which is good for both your mental and physical health.

What a powerful message!! Personally I love dogs so much.

Health / Re: How To Recognize and Respond to a Medical Emergency by apese: 8:55pm On Apr 13, 2016
lomaxx:
How do you check a pulse?

•Turn your left hand so that your palm is face-up.

•With the index and middle fingers of your right hand, draw a line from the base of your thumb to just below the crease in your wrist.
•Your fingers should nestle just to the left of the large tendon that pops up when you bend your wrist toward you.
•Don’t press too hard, that will make the pulse go away. Use gentle pressure.
•Wait. It can take several seconds—and several micro-adjustments in the placement of your two fingers on your wrist—to find your pulse.
•Just keep moving your fingers down or up your wrist in small increments (and pausing for a few seconds) until you find it.
•Notice whether your pulse is regular (keeps time like a metronome) or irregular (more random, fast-slow, fast-slow). An irregular pulse is a tell-tale sign of AFib or other heart rhythm disturbances.

To take your pulse rate:

•Find a watch with a second hand and place it on your right wrist or on the table next to your left hand.
•After finding your pulse, count the number of beats for 20 seconds.
•Multiply by 3 to get your heart rate, or beats per minute (or just count for 60 seconds for a math-free option).
•Normal, resting heart rate is about 60-100 beats per minute.

Very useful medical or first aid clip! Keep on good work and God bless.

The victim of an emergency can be anyone- a friend, family member, a stranger, or you. An emergency can happen anywhere- on the road, at home, work, or play. Recognizing an emergency may be difficult at times. You may become aware of an emergency because of certain things you observe such as unusual noises, sights, smells, symptoms and signs, or behavior.

Simple and straight forward explaination. Thumps up!!

Good morning fruitful mamas, I declare that by the power in the name of Jesus, our womb's shall carry glorious seeds before the end of the year.

Madam @fvine, thanks for your selfless service on this thread, oya receive quadruplets in the name of Jesus.

Abeg mamas, I need you to help me torchlight this. This is my third cycle on tamoxifen, though self medicated, decided to try it after positive reviews from @talltosyne and some other mama's. What I have noticed is that since the first cycle, I begin to have cramps from cd 10 and it stops on cd 13, sometimes it could be severe, this cycle however, today is cd 8 and I have felt some cramps this morning and I'm wondering if it is not too early to start having middle pain. Anyone with similar experience?

Let me add this, for many months now, I have been having some terrible odour down there even after treating infections, it was so bad that I have to clean there at every opportunity so in the first cycle of tamoxifen, used it btw cd3 and cd7, I just noticed that there was no more odour, though during that period I consumed lots of cabbage and cucumber, don't know which one worked but since then no more odour.

Please visit the hospital and see the doctor urgently! Also try to find out what worked between the two!

Hi first confirm that the appendix was removed. It happened to a friend was told it was removed but it was not they just did a cut and sutured. It back.

Also confirm you don't have ulcer or a blockage in the intestines. I will suggest you use general hospital in Ikeja but I can tell you its stressful. Most private clinics I do not trust them. I can tell you from experience.

Don't play with health also get a second opinion.

Good advice. You know these doctors can a times forget or make mistakes, it happens you know. In any case we are not perfect but trying our best.

Hmm! Could be that you have stressed your liver over the years from excessive drinking and it is now having problems dealing with the toxins you ingest into your system, thus passing out the bacteria through your pores. Stay without any form of alcohol for 8 weeks, and drink lots and lots of water, and also engage in cardiovascular exercises all through the period...Let's see if the odor still persist.

This is just my contribution. You can still wait for the experts in the house.

Medication should be looked into as soon as possible otherwise that sounds terrible.
