Lagusta: Lack of oxygen and blood to the heart?? Lololzzz

if there is no o2 or blood circulation to the heart, it will just stop and that will be the end....

Just buy the gecrol and use for sometime, reply
I meant insufficient blood and oxygen. Don't mind me, I'm not in a medical line.

I will do that and reply. Well, I'm still going for the test.

ziga: Coronary artery disease which can give you Angina (essentially the same thing) is extremely rare in young people.

The commonest cause of coronary artery disease is artherosclerosis (hardening of arteries). This happens over a long period of time therefore, it is usually found in much older people. This is why I doubt that you have coronary artery disease.

However, there are other causes of coronary artery disease in younger people which are rare. One of these is drug use.

So, first of all, stop worrying yourself about Angina or coronary artery disease.

Also, you do not have any risk factors for artherosclerosis.

Also, constant chest pain for months is most certainly not coming from the heart.
Are you taking any prescription medication or herbs or street drugs? Your symptoms could be a side effect of any of these. (Stop taking aspirin!!!)
I'm not taking any drug for now. I stopped taking Nitroglycerin last year, which was the last drug I took.
Do you drink caffeinated beverages? e.g coffee, mountain dew or red bull? These can also explain your symptoms.
I don't drink. I only take Pepsi and 7Up.

You sound like you are very anxious and the awareness of your heartbeat could from an anxiety disorder.
Well, am so anxious.

I suggest that you stop taking any herbs or supplements, find a way to relax. Choose a sport that you like and exercise everyday, get enough sleep and focus on eating a healthy diet.
I don't take herbs. I don't sleep due to the nature of my work. And Lagos wahala. I used to play football, but I stopped when the thing started.

If I would recommend any test at all, I would say you should check your blood count to make sure you are not anemic. Anemia can givve you palpitations(awareness of your heartbeat or heart racing), make you feel dizzy, tired etc. Any body in your family with sickle cell disease? If you are anemic, and you do not have sickle cell disease, you can take over the counter vitamin supplements (From a chemist/pharmacy)
There's no Sickle Cell Patient in my Family.

Your ideal weight can only be correctly assessed when compared to your height. There are lots of online resources for this. Search for body mass index.
I weigh 113lbs, 6 ft 9 tall, 30inch waist and has a very tiny wrist. I look very tiny among my Age Mates. Wanted to take steroid to help build my Muscular Structure, but I read that it's not advisable for people that has Heart related prob.

Why I thought maybe it's CAD is that; When it started, and didn't know how to explain it.. I went to a Kedi Centre for Diagnosis. Which I was told that there's lack of Oxygen and Blood to the heart. The pain wasn't as chronic as it is now sha.

Lagusta: your first two or three questions are very relevant, you're thinking of pancreatitis... But if it were to be pancreatitis, op would've been dead by now...
I've answered his/her questions. Thank you.

My questions

can you describe the pain... Is it a slow, burning pain or a sharp pain as if an elephant is sitting on your chest....
I don't know how to explain it. I just have this frustrating discomfort from the pain. It's a slow and sometimes warm pain. Can't call it burning pain.

Do you know the drugs that were given to you when you had this pain
I only remember Aspirin. Don't know the name of the other drugs.

wait first, what increases the pain and WHAT REDUCES IThuh?

thank you
Just like I have said, I can't figure out what triggers it because I don't engage in any task that requires much energy. The pain is just there.

God bless you. I would love to read back from you.

lomaxx: You've been having chest pain for 5 years- and you treated Angina - who gave you that diagnosis? Now you don't have enough money and you want to spend the little you have running tests that may not help you find a diagnosis.
I find this trend very disturbing.
It's not my fault. I thought I could manage myself because going to the Teacher Hospital from where I stay before was frustrating. And sometimes, after sitting for hours, you might end up not seeing the Doctor.

Chest pain does not mean the problem is with the heart or the lungs. A myriad of conditions can cause a chest pain. I've already gone through the other thread. Answer a few questions:

- Do you take alcohol regularly
I don't take it all. Well maybe once in 2years.. Like Bacchus.

- Does the chest pain improve when you lie down or with any other position?
Nope.. But my heart beats faster when I lie down.
- What triggers the chest pain?
I've stayed away from doing Heavy Works, so I can't figure out anything that triggers it.

- When you breath in or breath out, does the pain get severe?
I feel it when I breath in/out, but no difference.

-Do you have any skin lesions on any part of your chest?
Not atall, I just always have this itching feeling around there which makes me to scratch it and end up having a bruise.

-Do you have occasional nausea or vomiting?
No. I only feel dizzy if do a little work.

- Have you ever vomited blood or noticed blood in ur stool?
No, atall. I never vomited since the whole thing started.

God bless you. Pls kindly get back to me.
HealthRe: Where In Lagos Can I Do Echo, Ct Scan And Ecg Tests At Cheap Prices? by AprilTwo(op): 12:12am On Sep 15, 2014
ziga: Not every chest pain is related to your heart. Therefore, not every chest pain is angina.

Also it is highly unlikely for you to have persistent angina for that long without any progression of the problem.

Also the fact that the treatment that you have already gone through did not work means you probably have another diagnosis that is not being treated.
In one of the Hospitals, My file got missing and they asked me to restart my test.

How old are you?
I'm 23
What other medical problems do you have?
Nothing, just the chest pain. Which I think it affects my growth.

When do you get chest pain?
Can I say all the time? Because I feel it whenever I have my mind there. And it pains me down to the back.

What part of your chest specifically is it located?
I feel it deep inside the Heart Region.

What makes it worse? Exercise? Food?
I only notice my heart beats faster when at rest.

What other symptoms do you feel when you get the pain? Belly pain? diarrhea (watery stool)? Nausea? Do you have a lot of gas?
I feel dizzy most times, and my eyes gets red.. I mean very red.

Are you short of breath without doing anything? Any swelling in your legs?
Nope.. Just that my breathing is irregular when I lie down. And my Left is getting weak day by day.

How much do you weigh?
49 - 51. Remember I'm 23. Underweight.

I truthfully doubt that your pain is related to your heart, but there is no way to know for certain without knowing your risk factors.

However, if your symptoms are as severe as it seems, you should be in the emergency room.

Angina is a warning sign of an impending heart attack. And it wouldn't hang around for many months without any progression.

PS. I didn't realize somebody else replied to your question.

And I basically echoed him. I doubt that you have Angina, and unfortunately, all the tests you want to do might be a waste of your money.
Could it be Coronary Artery Disease??

God bless you. Kindly reply sir/ma.
HealthRe: Where In Lagos Can I Do Echo, Ct Scan And Ecg Tests At Cheap Prices? by AprilTwo(op): 12:18pm On Sep 14, 2014
Thank you all for taking your time to reply. I've been experiencing every symptoms of Angina.

But recently, like 3 weeks ago, I started having this numb feeling in my left leg and left hand. Its getting so bad that the leg is heavy to lift and my hand is getting useless that sometimes, things drop from my hand. I'm having this sense of no-blood in my left part of the body.

So on wednesday, I started having warm feeling in my scalp. It doesn't pain me but it makes me feel uncomfortable. And my facial muscle are kinda weak.

I was scared, so I had to rush to Gbagada General Hospital thursday morning. The doctor asked me to do ECG Test, and Xray. She said I better go to a Private Diagnosis Centre to do it because if I wait to do it in their Hospital, it might take months before it get to my turn.

And this is going to be the 6th ECG Tests I've done since the whole thing started. Someone advised me to do CT Scan to know if it's Coronary Artery Disease. He made me known that if it's CAD, ECG Can't reveal that.

So that's why I want to do everything once and for all. I'm losing weight due to depression.

To answer your questions, I have this pain in my upper left part of the body, the Heart Region. I feel the pain down to my back, and my left ear, and my neck sometimes. My eyes gets red if I have a little stress and my heart beats faster at rest.

Hi Docs, I need your help. I created a thread few months ago about Chest Pain, which I treated Angina for a while and I didn't see any changes. Someone said it's likely to be Coronary Artery Disease. I still can't find cure or drug for 5years I've been going through this.

I'm broke, and have low-income.

Pls where in Lagos can I do these tests; XRay, ECG, ECHO and CT Scan of Blood Vessels at a very cheap price.

If anyone does it, pls can you help a Nairalander? I'm dying in silence.

Toble: I have been experiencing such similitude issue towhat you slated here.chest pain which comes and go, radiate to the back, sometimes upper arm and sometimes when I spit I see some traces of blood, the first day I went to the doctor, he checked my BP and it was actually on a high side 160/100, which he ask if I was thinking of anything or doing something streessful, I told him no that sometimes I just have my heart beating fast without being anxious or afraid of anything....All he diaognise was internal Ulcer and gave me suspension, pain reliver and told me am too young for him to place me on BP drug, he said I shld come back in 2days. I went back though relieved and my BP dropped to 140/85but my pulse still high over 100. He gave me another drug to the one have been using and told me to check back. A week later I feel better no chest pain, reduced back pain, and he said I shld continue with my drugs that I will be fine that if my heart still beat fast that he would consider ECG. Now I check my BP and its 120/70, the heart beat is normal but the chest pain, back painand arm has started. Am confuse!
I never had high BP.. Even though my heart beats very fast. 2011 when this issue was getting serious, the Nurse placed me on Ulcer Drugs also, and I didn't feel any changes.. So I stopped taking the drugs. What's your location?? And do you feel the pain everytime? Do you feel dizzy?

nobilis: Like someone suggested, u need to get the doctors to take u seriously.
Angiography or more precisely CT angiography is a CT scan of ur blood vessels to know if they're in good shape especially the big vessels that are close to the heart.
Since doctors have assessed ur heart and discovered nothing "wrong", that's why I'm suspecting that it might have something to do with you blood vessels.

Aortic dissection (or even aortic aneurysm may possibly) radiate to the back. Angina doesn't classically radiate to the back.

Just meet a serious cardiologist who knows what he is doing. Seeking advice, especially medical advice, from nairaland is like searching for a pin in a haystack.
And pls, what about the numb feeling in my left leg and left hand?

1k001: Your case appears to not be straight forward. What you need to do is to get the doctors to take you more seriously. Advise via this forum is inherently dangerous as there's no physical interaction and opportunity to view your tests etc. My advice is as follows -

See this post https://www.nairaland.com/1801444/5-short-tips-improve-healthcare to see how to get more from a hospital visit

It basically says to go prepared with all your tests results and history and be clear what you want from your visit

visit the link below to see a link to a list of all cardiologists in the nigerian cardiac society

http://abujahealthpages.com/nairaland.html

Pick one on the list.

Attend him and explain that you are very concerned about your symptoms

Also ask the following questions

- Do i appear Marfanoid to you?

- Could my pain be from a dissection?

- Would you recommend a CT scan of my blood vessels

The above questions will encourage the doctor to explore further causes of your pain and help rule them in or out
You're right. The ones I've visited are really not serious about it. They even lost my record and asked me to restart the whole investigation. Why am asking here is because I've seen someone with the same issue and was also told to be OK after tests. I want to know if it's hard for the Docs to know when someone is having Angina Pectoris. I 'll look up the links. But please can this be cured? Thanks sir! EDIT: There's nothing on Abuja Health Page, maybe it's my Browser.

What is your blood pressure like?
Have u done angiography before?
Where exactly was the pain located? In d center of ur chest or where?
What is the nature of d pain?
Thanks for your reply. I've visited 2 private hospitals in Ibadan, don't wanna mention their names. And I did the tests at Mokola and Queen Medicals. Also, I've been going to OAU Teaching Hospital. It was 120/80 the last time. Don't know what Angiography is. I feel the pain in my heart, down to my back, arm, and neck.

HealthAny Cardiologist In House? Pls I Need Your Help by AprilTwo(op):
Hi Nairalanders, am 23years, I weigh 113lbs, 6 ft 9 tall, 30inch waist and a very tiny wrist. Am just saying this so you can imagine how skinny I am with my Age.

I've been having chest pain for a very long time (Almost 4years). Have been to different hospitals (both Private and Government) to diagnose myself.

Initially, the pain was like Normal Pain. Not Left-Side Pain. And I wasn't sure of what to tell the Doctor, so I asked my friend where someone can diagnose thoroughly. He told me to go to KEDI Health Care Office. Getting there, I was asked to stand on a machine which I held something attached to it for some minutes. The machine flagged red because of my weight and my age. The man said something about my Artery not pumping blood well, I've forgotten the exact thing he said. He asked me to buy a Supplement which costs 15K or so. And to eat Apple. I don't have the money, so I was thinking of visiting Hospital.

Now I was having the pain around my heart. I went to a Private Hospital and the Doctor asked me to do some tests. X-Ray, Blood Test, ECG. I did all these, and the results were Ok, according to the doctor. He just gave me some pain reliever. He said my Heart beats at the normal level, so it's nothing close to Heart Issue. My Parents are not that financially Ok but they don't play with my health because I am the ONLY son.

While using the Drugs, I was managing myself hoping the Pains will vanish some day.

I later went to another Hospital, Teaching Hospital to be precise. My Dad didn't have the money to take me back to a Private Hospital. The day I was given an appointment was the day they started strike, so he had no choice to look out for money and get me admitted into a Private Hospital. The pain was becoming unbearable this time. We were asked to do the same tests again; Xray, ECG, and blood tests. The Woman said there's nothing wrong with my chest. That maybe it's because of Stress.

My parents were already getting tired because of Spending Money on an Unknown Issue. Most time they see me smiling at anything (Mum especially) I see the look on her face how she treasure me and how she's scared to lose me.

This time the pain has gotten to my back, and I also feel the pain around my neck, arm, shoulder, ear (All Left Sides).

I later went to Teaching Hospital after the strike. I was seen by a Cardiologist. He asked me questions. He asked if I ever had an Heart Attack, or fainted before. It never occurred to me which I don't pray for. He later referred me to a department where I did X-ray. I did some blood tests also and ECG test.

As usual, after the result he said there's nothing wrong with me. Gave me some drugs, can't remember the names. I finished my drugs and yet, the pain won't leave.

I started "googling" answers to the kind of pain am having. The ONLY thing close to what am going through is Angina. The symptoms of Angina is the same thing am going through.

I went back to the Doctor. I had to skip the protocols at the Hospital (Waiting, Opening of Folder etc) so as to beat time. I told him the pain is still there that I think it's Angina. He laughed and asked if have been googling lately. He asked me to stand up, said I look good that if it was Heart Problem, I wouldn't be able to walk well not to talk of standing upright. And told me to stop googling when it comes to Health Issues. He asked me to continue my Medicine.

I was giving up, and wanna start living with it.. sad But Life is Good, I don't wanna die young. Am an Ambitious Young Guy that wants to break the jinx in the family.

I called my long distance Uncle (a Nurse) that am having Angina, and asked him the Drugs to buy. He asked his colleagues and told me to buy Nitroglycerin and Aspirin. I used these drugs for months. But still having the pain.

Now, in the last 2 months, I've been having this warm-dead feeling in my left leg and left hand. Plus the chest pain down to back also (Left side).

Pls Help Me!!
