I havent relaxed in almost 6months. Do you think i can get away with dooing human hair weave on?! i need somethings quick for emergencies. Would it look 'better' if i straightened it?

Um, if you did a full head, yeah. Or if you did lacefront. Otherwise, (assuming you've got black hair,) it certainly wont blend in unless you straighten it. You dont have to chemically treat it, you could just flat iron it and wrap it to keep it straight when you're at home.

I use a new one now, called Colour Rays. Most times when I try to dye my hair bright colours, the dye wouldnt work but this one (colour rays) works! Mind you, it is permanent. When I dont want permanent hair colour, I use the regular L'Oreal or Revlon brands. My hair is yet to break for dyeing them and I dye my hair LOTS!

My locks are permanent. I dont intend on taking them out. I hear though, that it is possible to take them out (though I wouldnt go the locking route if I intend on taking them out). If you want locks you can take out, may I suggest you single braid (without extensions) or use dread extensions?

Thanks!!! I did! My real haircolour isnt black enough for me lol so I dyed it jet black. I got my locks done by my stylist (a locktician) who specializes in sisterlocks. Good luck on your natural hair journey. And dont forget to post a pic if you dont mind.

When did you loc your hair? is it very long now? How do you deal with your hair after exercising?

I locked mine in July of '08. It doesnt look very long (though, people keep telling me its grown alot) in my eyes, because it shrinks. As you see in the pics I posted in my previous post, the one lady's locks were really wavy and the next one had straight(er) ones. I find that they just follow your regular hair textture and my regular hair texture (or pattern) is the type that retracts (shrinks).  Using Jellybean's pix as an example, her texture would be straighter, and would appear its true length,  hope that helps.

On my profile pic, that was a pic taken after 17months of locking my hair. Mind you, I did start with I think,  5 months of natural hair growth. You could start with relaxed hair too, mind you, and then chop the relaxed ends off later.

To answer your question, my hair is in its relaxed state, at bangs length (at the front), bob length (at the sides) and 3/4 length of my nape (at the back). If your hair texture is the non wavy/curly type, appear longer (to give you a hint, when I stretch my locks out at the front, they go to my lower lips. Hope that helps).

I dont know about gyms (wouldnt know my way to one) but I guess I can relate because I do perspire alot (a little on the hyperactive side). If you're worried about sweating and having to wash, thats fine. I either do a rinse (without shampoo) if I'd just shampooed, or if it looks like I was going to need a shampoo soon anyway, I just shampoo it.

With new locks, you'd bunch them up in little sections, with elastics, and then shampoo by washing from room to ends. Once your locks have been defined (your locks matt together, so no risk of loosening), you can wash them without the elastics. I only had to wash mine once with elastics. My hair texture has a tendency to want to matt together, so didnt have to worry about loosening.

My hair is natural (though its been dyed  ) and it continues to grow. I can attest to it that black hair DOES grow. I have sisterlocks, and even when I didnt, my hair always grew when natural.


What I do to it? Nothing but shampooing. My hair doesnt get dry, I do NOT condition, and my hair is yet to break. When I condition it, it gets toooooo damn oily!

It seems to have its own natural oils because when I leave that bad bwoy without a good shampooo too long, I end up with soo much grease in it!


So, I do nothing but shampoo, and it is yet to stop growing,  will post pics when I get a chance.

Dont let anyone fool you; hair is hair and hair will continue to grow. Black hair is no different. You just have to LET IT !

I know 4 Nigerians that took their lives, and one that attempted but failed. I also know onw with suicidal ideations. My point? It isnt that we have less suicide rates. Its that when it does happen, we hide them. Of all those 4, only one was made public, and even then, the family blamed their enemies for his death. We Re too scared to admit that 'igerians can be 'crazy' too so when people commit suicide in NigeriA, their family often lies about the cause of death.

my dog is a lhasa-apso & poodle mix (lhasapoo), lots of fur; hypoallergenic, shes a bit of a lap dog but also a watchdog (lhasas are gate guards). i'll post a pic 2morow. weighs 11.5 pounds, barks like a 60 pounder lol though she is really a wuss. Her name is Dream.
