fairheart: Do you have to use "aside from the fact that..." to make the point? This line of words seem to be on almost every transcript on this thread. Please be original. Be creative. Craft your own response. Any student that send me his/her transcript from this moment will have to rewrite that section if I see it there. Instead of "aside from the fact that"--which consular hears often, can you use, "More importantly", "In addition to this", "More so",. "Also", "Other than that", "Alongside this", etc.
A student will be dropping her approved visa transcript soon (for visa approved this week). There's another guy who got approved late November I am still waiting for his transcript to be posted. More transcript of approved visa still coming; the embassy at both location are still issuing, and you too can still get your visa. Keep hope alive!
Those who have been denied should brace up. Re-firing immediately isn't always the key to getting the visa. Impatient has delayed as many dreams from becoming a reality as negligence and lack of preparation have. If you have been denied, check yourself, check your transcript, and see what can change or boost your chance before you reapply. If you have to defer the admission, do it. You don't have to reapply immediately if things are tight. But follow your heart anyway ! The student I mentioned above was first denied last year. She waited and reapply this year, and she got it.
Some of you were denied simply because of lack of confidence (yes, lack of confidence and unnecessary fear you secretly nurse because of people you've heard were denied), inability to make eyes contact, inability to converse with the consular smoothly, lack of thorough and cogently convincing transcript, or otherwise (sometimes, this is not the case and it is not your fault at all). Nevertheless, put yourself together very well.
God bless you. If you get money, Nigeria sweet! Good morning. I'd like to talk to you if you don't mind. However, if it's not convenient for you, it's fine. |

I remember attending to a young guy who sustained deep laceration on the face. Dude was bleeding heavily and even became unconscious by the time he was rushed in.
AS expected, this category of patients always have no money on them. I was able to resuscitate him and secure hemostasis. By the time he regained consciousness, he was already swearing about how he would return with double the amount of his incurred bill.
We discharged him eventually and dude never returned till date. Unknown to him, my MD asked me to treat him free of charge.
This is the mindset of the average Nigerian patient. They think the doctor is already stupendously wealthy and needs nothing else in life. Some foolish ones even think the doctor should rather give them money.
ive read the stupid rants of the disgruntled wailers on this thread this morning. They won't blame the government for not providing comprehensive health insurance. For them, it's the doctors' duty to ensure long life for all Nigerians even at their expense.
The most painful part of it is that people actually call me on phone and expect medical consultation and even prescription over the phone. I've been polite enough to kindly tell them off. From now onwards, anybody whose stupidity gets to that level will be blocked.

Spring2019: I also got denied today at Abuja embassy. I think today was just a bad day there cos I am going to refire. So to those two other people that didn't get, just calm down, reconstruct your transcript and reapply. Today was just a bad day in both embassies cos no one got while I was there for almost three hours. Transcript VO: Pass your passport and I-20 Me: passsed VO: How did you choose this school Me: I wanted a school that would allow me have my clinical rotations at the center for disease control and prevention so I chose this school because it would enable me have that opportunity Cuts in VO: what are the other schools you applied to Mentioned them VO: Who is paying for this Me: My sister's husband VO:How old are you? Me: Mentioned Then she passed the paper and said sorry She was at window 6, tall white woman with pointed nose but she wasn't even giving people the room to talk and defend themselves. Even families that had a lot of travel history were denied. Finally my people, US Visa has never been easy. 20 years ago it was like this, 10 years ago it was very difficult and that is how it will be. You will be the one to be strong enough to always refire till you get it. Alot of people here got it after their first, second and even third attempts so don't let that weigh you down And as for me, I am going to Lagos to collect my visa So sorry about the denial. Why the choice of Lagos? |

Pefuele: What has changed could be scholarships: Were you given scholarships now? Are there some info you didn't know initially that could have aided you in your previous interview? Info about school that relates to your course of study you can chip it in. Is it personal;in terms of confidence and conviction. Now,your application involves not just what you fill on your DS-160 but all that is involved...from how you heard about the school till you applied and how you got to that window for the interview. It is all round.... Thank you so much. No scholarship yet. I think I have adequate info about the school and course of study... My start date is 7/01/19. Should I book another interview at once? |

Pefuele: Two things I noticed: When the VO was typing you shouldn't have talked about your father. In my interview, the VO typed for a while before asking me questions.Infact, she asked me to wait a bit.It is part of psychology... However,a more productive interview should be more detailed and with clarity. It is more about knowing when to talk and when to keep mum. Also, you shouldn't have asked to give SOA it shows desperation. This is why she said you should wait for her questions..Honestly,it is better to give document at the VO's demand. Thanks so much. These things appear to be neither here nor there. I just reasoned that 30m might just not cut it that was why I added the aspect of my dads SOA. someone also feels I should have deemphasized on the aspect of funding while paying more attention to my better grasp of my course and institution of choice. Going forward however, what should be my line of response when asked what has changed about my application in my next interview? |
Travel › Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by Ararume2: 9:06pm On Dec 15, 2018 |
Spring2019: In my opinion, you were not supposed to take the VO to that aspect of sponsorship when you were asked what has changed. That is why he concentrated on your sponsorship. The VO probably taught since he has a 6 year old son and possibly a wife. He has enough responsibilities. I think you should have said now, you can confidently talk about your school and your course. Then the VO would have asked academic questions which you could have nailed. Sometimes, you can control the interview and take the VO to any of your strong points. Even if the VO would later ask about sponsorship, he would have already been convinced you know what you are doing if you had answered all those why this school, why this course well. So...in my next interview, I should switch to this line of conversation if they ask what has changed since my previous interviews? Do you think I should ask for an extension of my start date or schedule another interview? |

Good evening all. Was denied for the second time yesterday. Interview was short. Here's a transcript... Me: Good morning ma'm Vo looking very unfriendly) your passport and i20 you applied sometime in June. What do you think has changed about your application? Me: I think I was unable to demonstrate that I had adequate sources of funding for my studies... my uncle heard of the visa denial and decided to step in to defray the cost of my studies.. Vo: Do you have his SOA...please pass it .. Me: Yes please..passed it to her Vo: Looked at it and typed for quite an uncomfortably long while. What does he do? Me: He's a major distributor of Dangote cement in the south east and south south with outlets in all states of the south east... Vo: How many children does he have? Me: a boy Vo: how old is he? Me: 6yrs Vo: kept typing for a very long time... Me; My father still insists on playing traditional fatherly roles.. he'll be giving me $4k for my journey initially and will be sending monthly stipends for my living expenses. Can I also give you his SOA? Vo: No...please concentrate on my questions Me: alright ma'm Vo: Typed and typed till she finally said ' I'm sorry you do not qualify for .... The SOA shows a balance of 30m my tuition plus living expenses is abt 36k dollars...less than 13m My start date is on 7/1/19 Where do I go from here? |
