President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign team has asked for the disqualification of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, from next month’s election.
In an address by its spokesperson, Femi Fani-Kayode, the campaign team also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of deliberately allowing Mr. Buhari to contest the February 14 election even after he has ‘failed’ to meet the basic educational qualification required to run.
Mr. Fani-Kayode, who addressed a press conference on Saturday in Abuja, said the inability of Mr. Buhari to present the minimum requirement of a school leaving certificate questions his morals and other credentials for pursuing the position of the president of Nigeria.
Mr. Buhari’s academic qualification generated controversy recently after it emerged he submitted a sworn affidavit at a Federal High Court, FCT, High Court Abuja to the effect that all his academic qualifications were with the Secretary of the Military Board.
His party, the APC, through its spokesperson, Lai Mohammed, said Mr. Buhari lost original copies of his credentials when his house was raided while he was in detention; and that he had been using court affidavits since then.
“General Muhammadu Buhari was in detention for over three years; while in detention, captors raided his residence and vandalised his property including certificates and diplomas; and that consequently, after his release, whenever the General is asked about his academic qualifications, he would refer such bodies to the Military Command, who has his service records including his academic certificates,” Mr. Mohammed said in a chat with Leadership Newspaper last weekend.
He also said Mr. Buhari had taken the same procedure for the 2003, 2007 and 2011 elections in which he was a candidate.
Mr. Jonathan’s campaign team, however, said it is not satisfied.
“Academic qualification is a threshold issue that cannot be waived for any citizen no matter how highly-placed and irrespective of whichever region such individual comes from except as provided by the constitution,” Mr. Fani-Kayode said.
The former minister cited Section 131 of the Nigerian constitution which states that: “A person shall be qualified for election to the office of President if: (a) He is a citizen of Nigeria by birth (b) He has attained the age of forty years(c) He is a member of a political party and is sponsored by that political party; and (d) He has been educated up to at least School certificate level or its equivalent.”
Mr. Fani-Kayode said section 131 (d) is a specific directional order for all candidates to show proof of education up to a minimum standard not below school certificate or its equivalent.
“But from what INEC has published, Buhari has not submitted any personal particular of minimum school leaving certificate for the 2015 election and, shockingly, from INEC documents displayed in all constituencies, he also did not submit anything in 2011 and never referred the electoral umpire then to the Secretary of the Military Board as well as previous elections he contested as evidenced in all available INEC records until this current discovery.
“If the constitution did not require proof, it would not specify a minimum,” he said.
Electoral Act
The former Minister of Aviation added that the current Electoral Act directs that proof of educational qualification must be sworn to by each candidate at a Court under Section 31 (ii) to (v).
He noted that for elections to the office of the president and for the purpose of display of particulars of candidates for all presidential elections, the entire country is taken as one constituency.
“Nigerians that have perused the affidavit of nomination as submitted by General Buhari and as published in all INEC offices, as well as the copies of his similar INEC documentations for 2011 election, could see clearly that General Buhari who claims to be a man of integrity has not been true to Nigerians.
“It can be seen, as indicated in section 31(6), that there are reasonable grounds to believe that a false deponent was declared in the affidavit where it indicates that all documents relating to the personal particulars of General Buhari are with the Secretary of the Military Board,” he said.
He said in the form he filled for the 2015 election, Mr. Buhari referred INEC to the Military Board for copies of his educational qualification, even after Section C of the form states that candidates should “attach evidence of all educational qualifications.”
He also said it was curious that Mr. Buhari did not refer INEC to the military board in 2011.
Mr. Fani-Kayode said the military board like any other body does not keep or retain original copies of personal particulars of individuals such as birth certificates, passports, and academic credentials of any personnel, especially retired personnel after over 3 decades.
“It must be stated that INEC erred in law by publishing the name of a candidate without receiving the personal particulars of the candidate within 7 days of receiving his nomination forms as indicated in section 31(3),” he said.

At the onset, DSS claimed that APC is cloning PVC, Now is another thing? DSS is for Nigeria, not GEJ or PDP. Who will raid PDP office to ascertain what they are doing with their own dataI bet you all these so called evidence were planted during the second raid which was carried out the within 24 hrs after a court granted the innocent staff bail. It also took DSS almost 6 weeks to present an evidence they never submitted to the court. Until this minute no one has been charged to court. All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has demanded from the Federal Government, an immediate reduction in the pump prices of petroleum products in view of the crash of the price of crude oil in the international market.



In a statement issued in Ibadan on Sunday by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, the APC recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan and his economic team arrived at N97 per litre of PMS in 2012 citing skyrocketing prices of crude oil in the global market which necessarily rubbed on high landing cost of imported petroleum products particularly the premium motor spirit otherwise known as petrol.



“The oil price has fallen by 49% from 2013 prices and Jonathan administration still claimed it spent a whooping N971b on its subsidy payment in 2014. Does it mean that Nigeria has been buying refined petroleum products at the same rate from nations with functional refineries despite the crash in crude oil prices? How come Ghana was able to implement a 13% reduction in the prices of same products in its local market?



“As much as we know that the present administration would never be transparent in its economic dealings with the citizenry since it has prioritized promotion of corruption and pursuit of parochial interests, we challenge the president and his economic team to be fair to Nigerians for once and implement a drastic reduction in the pump prices of petroleum products with a view to alleviating the suffering which the masses currently experience.” Sadare said.



The party, however, lauded Senator Abiola Ajimobi over what it described as the governor’s rare display of tact, vision and competence which made the economy of Oyo State to remain strong despite the threat posed by persistent slash in the statutory allocations coming from the federal government since last year May or there about.



“It can only take a tactful, visionary and pro-active mind to face the challenge of drastic dwindling allocations to a state like Oyo with weak Internally Generated Revenue base to keep the machinery of government afloat. With a paltry sum of N2.9b being received by a governor who is responsible for the monthly payment of N4.95b in overhead cost, the task could be more than daunting.



“This the governor does effortlessly in addition to regular maintenance of environment, security and improvement on social infrastructure without borrowing a dime from anywhere. We wish the previous administrations of Senator Ladoja and Chief Alao-Akala had been judicious with the many cash windfalls which they got while in power and thus lessened the burden on the present government,” The statement added.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance in Nasarawa State on Saturday presented the immediate past Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, as its governorship candidate of the party in the 2015 election.

Maku was presented along with his running mate, Alhaji Ibrahim Abu, amidst tight security.

Presenting the former minister to state and local government party executives at a meeting held at Manyi Royal Suites in Lafia, the state capital, the Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Ifeanyi Amakor, said the party considered the choice of Maku in the best interest of the party and of the people of the state.

Amakor reasoned that Maku was the candidate that possessed the required leadership capacity and pedigree to win the governorship election on the platform of the APGA in the state.

He said, “I want to use this opportunity to unveil Maku as APGA’s candidate for the governorship (election) in Nasarawa State and to clear every rumour that Maku is not our candidate. Let me tell you, we don’t have two candidates in the state; the only candidate we have is Maku.”

Responding after he was presented to local government party executive committee, Maku pledged that if given the mandate, he would create massive youth empowerment and job opportunities in order to enhance the economy and bring about peaceful co-existence in the state.

He added that he would provide just, fair, qualitative and result–oriented leadership that would bring about change and infrastructural development in the state when voted to power.

I guess you are talking about your transmission fluid ATF not the engine oil.

If what is written on the dipstick of your transmission is dextron III please go for it. You can visit any oando stations for original fluid. Don't buy from road side seller.

I owned a 99 camry for 6 years before I sold it and all I ever used was dexron 3 atf which by the way is the manufacturer's recommended fluid. I will just add that when buying, ensure you go with the ones from oando or total (purchase at the filling station directly). by all means, avoid the other brands sold in roadside stores.....most are substandard and could cause grievous harm to your tanny.

Ok. Please how many litres of ATF will be okay for a 99 camry. My mechanic told me to buy 6 litres of oando dextron 3? Just want to confirm how many litres will be ok please!
