FYI Anambra voted Atiku and has two ministerial nominees, how about that? We need to stop seeing everything in this country from an ethnic, religious or political angle.

What is the meaning of Biafra in your language and who coined the name?

Joe Igbokwe will soon realise the full implication of being a Bat. In Animal kingdom , Birds think Bat is a mammal and they don't trust him because he doesn't have feathered wings like them. Even mammals also looks like him in astonishment because unlike other mammals he fly's . that's why Bats moves at night. Its good he knows that he is a Bat with no ethnic affiliation. Unfortunately for him, there is nothing like Nigerian without ethnicity.
What he was trying to say flew over your understanding.
He meant that he's a Nigerian and had lived in Lagos since 1985 meaning he has a right just like any Yoruba in Lagos.
If a foreigner having lived in Nigeria for 15 years or more can naturalize and become a Nigerian and choosing a state, what makes him as a Nigerian from not having such privilege.
He even said something about abolishing state of origin in any form to be filled if he was the president, is this not what is obtainable in advanced countries?

I think this man is just a lackey and political jobber, and most of his statements are tailored to suit his boss Tinubu. However, if you remove the ‘tribal lens’ covering your eyes, Joe Igbokwe has made a lot of sense. The confab report recommended the same thing. As a Nigerian, state of origin should not be an issue where you have been resident for at least 10yrs. And if you decide to contribute and make a positive impact on your immediate environment, your antecedents & capabilities alone should be the determining factor and not if your forefathers were the first settlers on that soil. We can’t continue with the way we have been carrying on, Nigeria needs a total overhaul to survive this century!
You have oil in your brain unlike most posters who didn't really understand what the man is talking about

The simple thing is the fact that our president does not understand "comparative advantage. And most painful is that,America is the highest producer of beef and milk in the world yet they still import more from China and Brazil to cushion the deficit.

Similarly,China is one of the biggest producer of soybeans in the world and still the biggest importer of soybeans in the world.

Meaning no country is self sufficient in every thing.
Buhari is a national headache.
The US and Chinese economies are productive unlike that of Nigeria where we import virtually everything under the sun, some Nigerians wouldn't mind imported air and water because they feel imported is best.
If Israel can turn their desert into green and are almost self sufficient in food production and they even export too then Nigeria that lies in the tropics with abundant rain has no business importing food except those we can't grow

This administration is bereft of basic economic understanding, a country like Nigeria that is bedeviled with structural and operational hurdles rather than relentlessly scaling up mechanized agriculture and extension services and engaging in developing research to eschew over reliance on foriegn agricultural input they are working to stifle the already exacerbated system
This administration in its infancy, dabbled with the FOREX turf, and consequently crashed the naira to the dollar, they went further to subsidize the dollar for those who embarked on HAJJ and in the process helped themselves with a lot of round tripping.
This is the sad reality this president does not understand how economies play out he would plunge this country into the depths of poverty. Dumbo president
Why are you not talking about Christian pilgrimages going to Israel with same treatment? Instead of you talking about stopping it entirely you are busy talking about the Muslims.

Anambra already has a variety of rice that wasn't produced before, other states already have.

are I aware that Dubai came to borrow Nigeria , a big boy then , Nigeria replied them that nothing good can come out of your desert land and how u wan pay us back ?

so why are now telling me Dubai is bigger economy than Nigeria , meanwhile Dubai contributes only one percentage of UAE Oil,

why don't u believe that our leaders are clueless as from 1976 till date , same mistake
Please give me a link to when Dubai came begging Nigeria for money

Dubai does not have a bigger economy than Nigeria and her economy isn't dependent on oil like ours. Her economy depends instead on tourism, trade and real estate. They also have enough dollars to cover for their imports because of the low population unlike us.

Last point and I agree with that, our leaders even since independence have all been clueless, no doubt about that

Dubai and USA do import food items , why has it not destroyed their economy ? make me to understand this please
The US is the largest exporter of agricultural produce in the world and only imports what they can't produce sufficiently

Dubai is situated in the desert build has enough dollars to cover for whatever imports it wants

Nigeria does not have that, at least for now

Look at you insulting someone making sense and you displaying yourself, most of you do not realize that you eat local rice from those bukas you patronise.
Rice importers ceased to be given forex some years back and price of rice dropped from about 22k to about 14k today because of higher local production

It is people like you who hate Nigeria, you want everything imported but if I ask you what you personally produce and export to generate forex, nothing.

LegendHero:
To be honest, Buhari meant well by telling CBN to stop giving FOREX to food importers coz by the basic common sense rule it will make people patronize locally produced food ma and hence create employment based on the fact that Agriculture is the largest employer of labor in Nigeria.

But looking at it from another perspective, there are always effects to any action no matter how good or bad it seems like. The effect to this is that in a nation like Nigeria, the food importers will resort to getting the FOREX elsewhere from the black market dealers and the brunt of the high cost of food will be on the final consumers.

The government is trying in their own way to give farmers incentives and inturn increase yield but we are not yet at the level we want and they really need to invest more in agriculture to get machineries and fertilizers to the farmers. They shouldn’t just stop granting FOREX to food importers, but they need to remove it bit by bit to be able to ease the pain on the citizens.

Tbh we are not yet at the point where we can produce 80% of what we consume in Nigeria, hence the government need to be tactical not to remove the FOREX from the importers at once, but do so gradually.

Buhari policy is right in an ideal country provided we can really mechanize our farming and our farmers can meet the daily demand of food, but in Nigeria things are different and we don’t conform to textbook definitions of economics coz a lot of factors come into play.

Verdict: The government should not stop granting FOREX all at once, coz the aftermath effect could be fatal.
1. Higher prices of foodstuff would encourage more local farmers into production, remember the rice revolution in many states in the past few years, price has gone down significantly because of higher production.

2 & 3.When and how do we start to reducing our over dependence on foreign food, China, India or even Japan didn't start till their farms all became mechanised, in fact till date, Japan and Switzerland still operate a form of protectionist policy on their agricultural produce against imports.

It is for the overall good of the country and her economy

I don't know why people aren't happy with this action of Mr. President. To me, it's a good move. If he doesn't do this, we will keep importing everything. At least, we need to move to producing over 80% of the food we consume. He is not saying he is banning it, but just not making it attractive so it can force us to go into local production.
You should understand that most Nigerians are functional illiterates, this is something that should make people happy because it would help in discouraging imports but of course since it is Buhari saying this, it's a bad idea to them
