Hello all,

While applying for the study permit on the new application portal, please, is it advisable to add the visit visa of the accompanying spouse and child?

Your suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Yes, I applied with the new portal. Do you also have a valid US visa or expired Canadian visa? I think those are the basis to qualify for the Can+. Visa are quickly processed with the Can+

Racewinner:
Congratulations...

Please did you apply using the new portal? Please update because i applied the same date as you.

Hello all,

I am a chartered accountant with 10 years professional experience. I also seeking admission to study M.Sc in UK. My family will be joining me before the end of my program. But my worries are location of the universities. I really prefer schooling in London to any other city because of the job opportunities especially for my field.

But I am worried about the cost of living for a family of 4. Is it advisable to school in London and still live on an average standard.

Or are there outskirts city close to London where one can live and commute easily to London.

Also can please suggest other good cities in the UK?

Please note getting admission is not really a challenge for me.

Thank you

My reply is true, I didn't say you can't fill another ds-160. I said you can't fill your new sevis ID of the new school you're trying to change to.

How will you fill another Sevis ID in the appointment page after you change your school? Or have you forgotten you were asked to input your sevis ID, school name and zip code when you were about booking an appointment?

area74, you can't change your school again, I don't know if cancelling your appointment will reset it to the beginning for you to fill your new school sevis ID, name and zip code and you pick a date again

Thank you very much for the follow up messages and your genuine suggestions are well appreciated. I now have the understanding that both the old and new DS-160 confirmation pages will be taken to the embassy.

Stevenssen:

First of all get your i-20 from the new school. Then,

For your ds-160 :
Retrieve your old ds-160 form, it'll tell you that this form has been submitted and ask if you want to view the confirmation page or create new one from it, select the later option. A new one will be created with many details from the old one and only very few key information that you have to refill. You can as well make changes anywhere on the new one if you want.
Make sure you write the new number out and update it on your profile.
ps : you can update your ds-160 on your profile as long as it's more than 72 hours to your interview.

For your Sevis fee : go to fmjfee dot com . Check your i901 status, then from there you'll see an option to transfer to a new school.

Also remember to update the necessary details on your visa appointment profile.

EDIT : I don't actually know if you can update those details on your profile.
I remember trying to change my zip code to a new school after booking appointment and I couldn't. Thankfully it didn't affect my visa interview.
But yours are bigger and more important details, so it might be different in your case. Not certain.

Thank you for your detailed explanation. They are well noted.

Since an appointment has already been secured at the embassy, you can't change your school. The appointment page won't let you update and fill in another Sevis ID of the new school you got a better offer from.

This is noted. What is your recommendation?

You can fill another DS160 and update your CGI portal with the new DS confirmation number, you can also transfer tour sevis fee (details) from one school to another
When is your interview

WOW CONGRATULATIONS TO MY SELF... So what is the next step?

If you don't have a scholarship, you are expected to pay the first semester school fees before you start processing your application for resident permit.
Travel / Re: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by area74: 1:10pm On May 01, 2021
Congratulations to those who got the scholarship.

Those who didn't get the scholarship should weigh their options very well before moving to the country. If you hustle to pay the first semester school fees, how do you intend to pay for the subsequent semesters?

Sweden is not like UK where you can easily get some unskilled jobs to support yourself. Language barrier is a major factor.

Wishing everyone success in their pursuits.

Good afternoon.

Please how can I effect a change or delete an already submitted DS-160 form. I just received a better offer in another school and wish to take that to the embassy.

Please note that the SEVIS and the visa fees have been paid and appointment has been secured at the embassy.

Thank you for your contribution sir.

However, it was stated in the email that I received that I have up to July 31st to reschedule the appointment.

osadestiny:

I think you should keep on checking between now and in the evening. You will see a closer date. But if you do not you just need to book the one you see first. Because if you do not book after 7 days since they accepted your emergency request. You will no longer qualify for the emergency again.

I got the date on Monday after the approval of my emergency request.

To be eligible for emergency request
1. You need to have a normal regular appointment... In my case, my appointment was for October 8 and my program is meant to start in August.
2. You then file in for an emergency request. You will need your i-20 and sevisfee receipt, and the reason for the request
3. If approved your will then be asked to reschedule your appointment.

I hope this info helps.

Please kindly guide me. I received an email that my emergency request has been approved and I should reschedule my appointment.

However, I am still seeing dates in August which I had earlier booked. How do I get the closer dates?

Thank you

Please when can one starts applying for visa for the September entry?

Also, can I use multiple personal bank statements for the proof of funds?

Thank you all for your contributions.

There is no definite answers for these questions as admissions are very competitive.

What I can only advise is to avoid the popular schools like Uppsala University, University of Gothenburg etc.

All the best.

Hello sir,

Please I will implore you to make some personal efforts to research schools and the process.

Everyone is a rookie and through the collective efforts of all of us, the thread may be a repository of information for other intending students.

On a general note, Sweden has several universities offering different courses and you can only apply to a maximum of four schools at the central admissions management system, www.universityadmissions.se

The admission process usually starts in mid October and closes by early February. While admission results are released in the first week of April.

I am not an agent or a consultant to give you a full run down of the whole process.

I am also here to share my experience as we journey through the process while also learning from others.

Thank you.

Travel / Re: My Experience On A Trip To Ghana!.... by area74: 10:44pm On Apr 11, 2021
Thank you very much for this detailed analysis. The clear difference between an average Nigerian and a Ghanaian is patriotism. Nigerians are always very good to lament the negative side of our country everywhere.

It is understandable for a Nigerian who is leaving the country for the first time and coming to a country like Ghana with stable electricity to see it as an Eldorado.

When you stay longer in the country and start thinking and seeing beyond electricity, then you will appreciate Nigeria better in some ways.

Trust me, Ghanaians will frustrate your life if you own a business as a foreigner especially as a Nigerian.

They abhor competition and will systematically ostracise your business through the people and government agencies.

Representing my employer in the country for the last 3 years has really opened my eyes to the mindset of average Ghanaians.

In fact, I don't bother to relate with them anymore other than business meetings.

I wish the OP all the best.

abnot:

We'll both agree that ghanians enjoy cheaper and stable power supply than Nigerians on one hand and the average ghanian city (accra, kumasi ) is safer than the average nigerian city. In the area of economic strength, output and prosperity Ghanians/Ghana is no match to Nigeria. Nigerian cities are more developed than Ghanian cities (Accra is the most developed Ghanian city).

The reason I'm emphasizing this is that prior to 2015 I had been to cities in europe , north america and two middle eastern cities and I was hearingso much about how nigeria was a shithole and how ghana was everything that Nigeria was not. Then 2015 came with my girlfriend moving to accra. I made many trips there and was disappointed probably because my expectations were high. I later got a job in 2016 that got travelling to banjul, monrovia, accra, addis ababa, nairobi , j'burg, cotonou, dar es salaam, maputo, luanda and dakar. Of all these cities only nairobi , j'burg and to some extent luanda impressed me. Nigerian cities of Lagos (particularly lagos island) and abuja were far ahead of these cities. In fact the locals in most of these cities still serve the europeans and from the hotel to the gym to the restaurants the locals were more like workers to the white people there. Nigerians own and run most of the businesses in Nigeria. In these countries the white man is still seen and regarded as the alpha & omega. In ethiopia the chinese run the show from sme to the big sectors. This experience made me respect the hardworking Nigerian man/woman more.
If Nigeria had a better government the issue of security and power will not even be as pronounced as it is but amidst all these challenges the Nigerian man/woman has built strong enterprises and a much stronger economy than any of the countries in west africa. Look at the area of aviation, ghana has not been able to build both private or national airlines. In nigeria the govt failed in its quest to build a national airline yet nigerian investors built arik, air peace, associated airlines, bristow and now green africa. In the area of banks nigerian banks play a dominant role in ghana with the government constantly squeezing them and threatening their existence. In telecoms Glo is also been squuezed but managing to survive. In ghana african world airline is owned by the chinese and not ghana or ghanians. Down to the sme sector the ghanian investment promotion council recently went round shutting down shops owned by Nigerians as there businesses were performing better than that of the ghanians.

I can go on and on but I dont subscribe to the notion of seeing nothing good in Nigeria/nigerians aside negativity . Every society or country has its positives and negatives

Please where are you getting your own black market rate at 70 naira maybe I can also patronise the person.

It has been hovering around 87 naira for some weeks now.

I am also living in Accra

Localordinary:
Official rate is actually 1cedis=65 naira whilst black market is 70 naira. Whilst growing up,I could remember how useless the franc xefa was, today naira and xefa are in the range. By end of this year, the francophone countries in West Africa including Ghana has introduced a new currency called eco currency. It is shame on Nigerian leaders.

Yes I did.
I want to also support that with TetFund, but my worry is that before applying for resident permit card, one ought to have paid first semester's tuition installment and due to how sluggish TetFund can be in dispensing the funds, that might eat deep into the timing ... I don't know if the sponsorship letter issued by TetFund can be used in place of the first semester's payment evidence...

When are they releasing the school's scholarship results?

As for the sponsorship letter in relation to the Swedish process, I have not heard about that before.

Most of the schools will expect the students to pay the first installment by the end of this April.
