Thank you very much for seeking clarification. I made it clear that we only did mini nikhai and there is no evidence whatsoever for our union be it islamic or legal certificate. It is a decision that is well understood between us. Like I also said in my previous post, I may still marry her even before travelling.

What is important to both of us is the future of the baby.

Baba, I'm in your shoes, and I have filled mine, me and my daughter indicated that makes us 2 and POF will be for 2, your son will do medicals too and I think the mother will do too, whether your son is accompanying or not, the POF must be for 2.

Thank you very much for the responses. I will focus on myself and the baby for now. However, I may still marry the mother in the future. The important thing now is to secure the future of the child because he is one of the major reasons i'm into this canny hustle.

POF is not a joke. We shall all get there, may be at different times.

Yes you can. That is what I did;My degree was 4 years including diploma. So they recognized the degree as an Associate Degree.

If your outcome is Associate Degree when filling your EOi under qualification select -other degree as recognized by am assessing body ( something like that). Got my grant Nov 7 of this year

Good to finally see someone from the same University. I studied Mathematical Science (Computer Option) 2008 as well and I accessed as System Analyst.

That was the same outcome I got, I have my grant already tho (although it’s 489 because of the competitiveness of IT skills esp Systems and Business Analyst).

I think our uni falls under tier2 category that is why we got Associate Degree.

Also because of the “mathematical” part in it I think ACS deducted 3 years from mine. ACS will only acknowledge experience after the completion of a degree so the part time work you did might not count.

You can try and review tho (I did that but got the same outcome).
But to increase your work experience, you can add the one you did after school but I don’t think it will amount to 8years or more.

Please clarify this for me. The skill level for a System Analyst is Level One and it is expected that one should hold at least a Bachelor Degree. But you said that your Nigerian Bachelor degree was assessed as an Associate Degree and consequently got a grant.

Therefore, I will like to know if one can still enter the Skillselect with an Associate Degree despite the requirement of a Bachelor Degree for Level One skills.

Yes o I have and still waiting for outcomes. All hands are definitely on deck. Accountants plenty die. I even assessed as External Auditor just in case. I am positive though.

When you applied for the assessment with CAANZ, did you apply with ICAN and was your transcript sent directly to CAANZ by OOU or perhaps how did you go by the application process as well as the naira equivalency of the assessment fee.

Area74, my school is tier 2 too (Olabisi Onabanjo University) I don't think the assessing bodies for Accountant look at the tier thing if your courses are actually in sync with what is required. You never know till you try.

As per associate qualification being able to get into the pool for Accountant, I truly doubt as the minimum is Bachelors. Even those of us with positive assessment outcomes have been waiting since April (in my case).

Since you are certain that the courses required are in sync with the school's syllabus, I think you can proceed with your assessment.

Thank you for your contribution. Courses required are in sync with the school syllabus but my school, LASU is classified as tier 2 and thus will be regarded as an Associate Degree. My question is, am I eligible to enter the pool as an accountant with an Associate Degree? Kindly help me to clarify.

Kindly check the requirement for the occupation you are applying for. If my memory serves me right, I believe you need a minimum of 1 year work of experience to start with for accountant.

Assessment is not so much a big deal once your syllabus covers all the required competencies ( with or without ICAN). However, the tier of your school will play a major role in what it is assessed as (associate or bachelor).

The main issue remains your plan towards getting enough points to meet up with the qualifying point for invitation. So think of this and make your decision if you want to proceed.

By my estimation, if I am able to ace the maximum points in english with the Associate Degree, I will have at least 65 points. Kindly guide me.

I used CPA. Others like @Toslad that used ICAA also have good things to say about them. Both assessing bodies are fair once you submit all the required documents.

ICAN transcript can be gotten from ICAN Lagos office. Just send someone after making a payment of N10,000 for the transcript and ensure you are not owing any due. I think @zibe posted a link. Kindly check the link and ICAN site.

Is is possible to get a positive outcome as an accountant with only BSc Accounting? I have gotten my degree syllabus ready and the core areas for the occupation were covered. I have not completed my ICAN. Your urgent responses will be appreciated because I dont wanna waste money in this harsh economy of ours. Thank you.

1) Please can anyone in the house that has evaluated Bsc with WES recently help him with the first question. I cant really remember.

2) Pease type Accounting Technician Certificate as the name of the credential which is the same name you would see on your AAT certificate (please take a look at it to confirm). ICAN AAT is regarded as a Higher Education and is being evaluated as a one year College Level Certificate.

Student, Visitors, Tourist visas etc do not technically allow you to work in the US unless you want to work illegally. However, you can eventually adjust your status to get a work permit and eventually a green card. However, the process could be somewhat long and frustrating, especially with the recent immigration reforms. Hi,

I see you paid for certificate verification, I didn't but WES still accepted the certificate on review. I'd speak about my request.

Request (including payment) for transcript was done online. For about two weeks from the day of request, I tried to get a contact that I could just at the least confirm when the transcript will leave school. About the 3rd week, I was told it takes about 2 weeks for the transcript to leave school. Exactly three weeks in, WES updated my profile to acknowledge receipt (I took that to mean transcript got to WES three days before that update).

Like a week or so after the update of documents received, status changed to awaiting verification, because I didn’t know payment was required, I stayed back and did nothing. Somewhat, status changed to document received along the line and so I thought LASU had responded to the verification only for that status to change back to awaiting verification some days later. I didn’t know what prank WES was playing, I mailed WES asking for clarification if the verification had been received or not. WES responded speaking grammar that they’d complete the ECA as soon as verification is received.

I gave about one more week to see if status would change to verification received but no, it didn’t. So, I went to school to confirm if payment is required as I had read a 10k is required (the post I saw was made about a year, wasn’t sure if the payment still applies)

Got to school and was told I needed to make 10k payment. Later found out during the visit that verification request had gotten to LASU 20 days before I went – just about the time I got update of awaiting verification. File was sitting fallow among other request yet to pay the 10k. To your question, I don’t think anyone from school will call you.

To wrap it up, you transcript should be acknowledged by WES maybe from third week of request but it shouldn’t exceed four weeks… If it exceeds the 4th week, please find time to visit the school. Then once you get status change to awaiting verification, you have to get to school as soon as you can to make the 10k payment. The verification request is sent via mail so school should have it before you get there. Once the 10k payment is made, school should respond within a week and your WES profile updated accordingly. I got the update within a week.

@Jummolami, please help clarify if you paid for verification, you can include timeline and modalities as well. Thanks

Accepted

After receiving the transcript, is there any other process or verification to be done based on the information above?

Surprised to see its LASU's transcript. That school is one of the seamlessly easy schools to get transcript with little follow up needed. Speaking of my recent experience and seems to cut across board. WES acknowledged receipt of transcript exactly three weeks from the request date, that means transcript left school just about the 2nd week! My other concern is why are you so particular about using IQAS? are you aware of their timeline compared to WES and ICES?

I am a Lasuite. The process of getting transcript from the school is very easy. All you need to do is to apply and pay online. It is usually ready after 2 weeks. In fact, i'm through with my certificate verification. I submitted my certificate to WES via fax and applied to LASU for online verification of the certificate. It cost me 6k and everything was completed withing 2 weeks. I am currently waiting for my transcript to be sent to WES. I did that 2 weeks ago and paid about 21k to LASU.

@Kontagious, will I get a follow up from LASU, I mean, will I be called from the exams & records that the transcript has been sent because I have no means of reaching them and I can't leave my place of work for now?

Senior colleagues in the house and other gurus who got positive assessment from a tier 2 university should help with the questions below.

I have a BSc. in Accounting from Lagos State University as well as having over 3 years work experience in the profession. I worked for more than a year in an audit firm as an auditor and the rest as been as an accountant in the industry.

My questions:
a. Should I assess with VETASSES as an internal auditor? Do I have a chance of getting a positive outcome based on the fact that I attended a state university and not having ICAN? How can you guide me on the process?
b. Should i assess with either ICAA or CPA as an accountant or external auditor as no one is sure of what may happen to our profession in the with the very high cut off points. Will I get a positive outcome with my BSc and detailed syllabus with transcripts despite not having ICAN?

Kindly help me to address these issues in order to determine my next move.

What I paid WES via my GTB Naira MasterCard was around N71,000 and that's for BSc. only.

That message generates when ever they receive anything about you sometimes it could just be a message and it changes back when they are done. I wouldn't say they have received everything, maybe just the certificate you faxed cause that takes a shorter time
