maclatunji: My point was a flyover is a bridge. Point noted. maclatunji: Then it is over-hyped, the 3rd Mainland Bridge is 11.8km long en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Mainland_Bridge We are waiting for the 4th Mainland Bridge to link Ikorodu to Lagos Island. The economic potential it might unleash is enormous. I don't believe it is over hyped because it still stands as the longest flyover bridge in West Africa. The fact that it was built by a state government in this period where corruption, ineptitute and recklessness thrives even makes it more worthy of commendation. |

maclatunji: Flyovers are bridges but not all bridges are flyovers. For some reason no one has answered my question. Is this flyover longer than the third mainland bridge? I'm glad you have noted the differences. To your question; Nope it's not as long as the 3rd mainland bridge. |
Politics › Re: Longest Flyover In West Africa (kano state), Named After OBASANJO- Pictures by arewafederation: 11:42am On Apr 11, 2015 |
maclatunji: 1. flyover - bridge formed by the upper level of a crossing of two highways at different levels ≡ overpass ↔ bridge, span - a structure that allows people or vehicles to cross an obstacle such as a river or canal or railway etc. www.thefreedictionary.com/flyover Tell me more... Bridge is a structure which connects two points separated by a natural phenomena like river, valley, sea, any other water body. A Flyover is a structure which connects two or more points which are already accessible and is really flying over and/or across manmade structures as road, railway, building, street. |

omenka: It would definitely be frosty right now and both parties would hit a few bumps trying to smoothen things out, but it cannot deteriorate to a point he goes into DHQ guns blazing and sacking everything that breathes.
Buhari must understand the sentiments of Nigerians. Jonathan effectively disarmed him by quickly conceding defeat in the election, it was what no one expected. Regardless of all the sins he has committed in the past, he now projects this image of a hero of democracy and indeed a good man. You simply can't imagine the number of lives he musta saved by that singular move.
Now, he has somewhat succeeded in nudging public sentiment in his direction and any action taken against his men might be judged unfair and portray Buhari in bad light. Such words as ungrateful, petty, and vindictive would then be used to describe his persona, and that is what he (Buhari) doesn't need at the moment.
Heads must roll at the top echelon of the military, deservedly so, we understand that, but they must not roll too quickly. Nigerians are too emotional and sentimental. They cannot handle justice being dispensed in such quick succession. And this is why the Ekiti case must be handled with caution else the general gets his hands fried. Let the HoA handle that. Wise counsel. You do understand the cogitation of Nigerians. The general should handle these issues with caution. |
