Monday morning and you are uttering such words. I would rather bless you instead of curse. Be blessed CICERO09: |
Women want love and that's why they get attracted to men who promise that they will give it but when they find nothing later on they start to wonder whether their men really loved them or not. The main problem that forces women to fall into these traps is that they lack the proper understanding of men. In order not to fall in such traps you need to get to know more about the way men think. Men want to have sex and in most cases their interest in a woman can be no more than physical attraction. Whether you like it or not this is how men were created to be like. Yes men do have emotions and yet they can love but the way they fall in love is totally different than the way you women fall in love. Men divide all the women they know into two major categories: the ones they are sexually attracted to and can be potential wives and the ones they are sexually attracted to but can be no more than sexual partners. So how to know whether a man is really into you or whether he just wants to play around? Simply don't allow any physical contact to happen under all circumstances and avoid calling him as well. If that man considers you one of his play mates then he will give it few more tries before he leaves for good. If he is really into you then he will try to take any serious step. In other words many women prefer to live in lies than to discover that they were not loved. Men are direct and to the point, you don't need more than few minutes to understand how they think but unless you are willing to find the truth then they will always remain a big riddle to you. It is implausible but real, a publication of the Moscow Faculty of Sciences, researchers have developed a new mixture of chemicals that can change a black man’s skin to white in six hours. Information gathered shows that with a mixture that includes oxytane and benzodiazepine. It would suffice to stay for 6 hours in a bath consisting of 50grams per liter of water. After this process, the skin peels off naturally, especially the upper skin layer responsible for the color that can be removed. The laboratory further announced that 254 people have been treated by this method and the Russian government may soon allow the reimbursement of this treatment. Russian authorities have also notified that it is a high value for thousands of immigrants who may feel more integrated in Russia once their color matches the one of the premises, which is a strong point of view decried by the associations of human rights. Have you ever asked the question, why doesn't prayer work? Why at times does it appear that God ignores us when we pray to Him. Many have prayed for God to intervene and solve a problem that they are struggling with, but sometimes God‘s apparent answer is silence.Even when we feel that God is not answering our prayers, you can always know God is a God of love. God created us and knows infinitely more than we know. He knows what is best for us, and what would not be good for us. If you have children, when they were very small, sometimes they asked for things that would not be good for them, or would harm them. For good reasons sometimes parents do not always give their children what they ask for, when they ask for it. Parents give them what is best for them. It is the same way in our prayers to God. God gives us what is best for us. We are God’s children and He gives us what is best for us, and at a time when it is best for us. Our lives must be right with God before He can answer our prayers. If we have cherished sins in our lives, and refuse to give them up, or if we are doing things we should not be doing, and are disobeying Him, we cannot expect Him to answer our prayers. Dear MTN, I will not go and re-register my line. You can fool everyone if you like, you might have fooled me before, but you would never fool me again. The only reason while you continue to pull the wool over our gullible eyes is because the consumer rights’ protection agencies are either in the vegetative state, or completely dead. How can you explain a situation where you would tell your millions of teeming subscribers to register their SIM cards and provide the necessary bio-data, only for you to wake up one morning to tell us to go and register our lines again WITH ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION? It beats my imagination and it defies not just logic, but also philosophy. Were you drunk when you were registering our numbers? Did a malicious virus wipe your entire database? Maybe I’m giving you too much credit sef. You probably wrote the records in books like an ancient bookkeeper and a giant yellow rat ate them all. Whatever your reasons (or lack of reasons) may be, this is beyond ridiculous. I have always maintained an MTN line because apart from being my very first line, most of my close associates also use MTN. some extent, the coverage is also extensive. I didn’t hesitate when the directive came from NCC to register our lines. I braved the queue, registered my line and collected my security number. Didn’t I try enough? Looking back, I can deduce that my attachment to MTN was more sentimental than practical, as your tariffs are the highest for calls and for browsing. You send an average of 100 spam texts per day, enough to run down a Blackberry battery and more than enough to give any Osun State government worker waiting for Aregbesola’s alert acute hypertension. Your nuisance value knows no bounds. Even Airtel that has been passed round different investors more times than a devil’s mail bag has not come up with this kind of Grade A foolishness. What the heck is wrong with you? Don’t your customers mean anything to you? Doesn’t it bother you that Nigerians who wasted their time to register their SIM cards have to do the same thing again? You haven’t even deemed it fit to fine-tune the process. It doesn’t make sense to preserve bad experiences like these, in very much the same way that one relic of history is preserving mud huts, and stating them on an assets’ declaration form. My records are not on your database, but you remember my number when you want to tell me to text ‘APC LAI’ to win a missing plot of land in Port-Harcourt, right? May heavy-duty thunder fire all of una. I really don’t blame you. If Nigerians had run your devious, xenophobic, exploitative, heartless, opportunistic, fraudulent ass back to South Africa, you wouldn’t be here making them queue desperately like migrants. What’s to say that there wouldn’t be another sham registration in the next couple of months since you guys obviously don’t know what you are doing? If you block my line, you’ll be helping me. Prior to your ridiculous directive, I had already banished your yeye SIM card to a barely functional phone. I have even borrowed the maximum permissible amount. Go ahead, feel free, block away. It sure feels great knowing that when I eventually toss the phone into the trash-can, I won’t have to take out the SIM. Good riddance to bad rubbish. You deserve to be sued for every fraudulent penny you’ve ever made on our shores. Thanks to other service providers for making sure that your evil dream of becoming a monopoly will forever remain a demented hallucination. There are so many fishes in the ocean. I will not tolerate your recklessness any longer. Peace at last. https://www.facebook.com/forum9ja/posts/947819265279874 |

A lost, overgrown sheep found near Canberra, Australia went through what’s probably the first shearing of its life on Thursday, and had a record-breaking 40.45 kilograms fleece removed – the equivalent of 30 sweaters. The merino sheep, named Chris, has broken the world record held by a sheep in New Zealand named Shrek, who had 27 kilograms of wool removed in one shearing. Chris was saved by the Canberra RSPCA on Wednesday after it was spotted by bushwalkers in scrubland. Given that the mass of wool could cause serious diseases to the sheep and put its life at risk, the RSPCA summoned four-time Australian Shearing Championship winner Ian Elkins to the rescue. Due to worry that the sheep could die from shock during the shearing, it was sedated throughout the process. It eventually took Elkins and four helpers 42 minutes to shear Chris. Having lost nearly half of its original weight, the sheep appeared to be rather relieved. Tammy Ven Dange, chief executive of the Canberra RSPCA, said that Chris had suffered skin burns from urine trapped in its fleece. It is now undergoing treatment from vets, and will be put up for adoption after being cured. Source: https://www.facebook.com/forum9ja?ref=hl

The reason so many marriages fail is that people make the wrong choices then realize later that they made a mistake. In order to make sure your marriage goes right you need to avoid the mistake of making the wrong choice from the beginning. So how is the right choice connected to time? There are two extremely important things you need to do in order to make the right choice. The first is to understand yourself perfectly. You might wonder what does self understanding has to do with marriage but when you know how important you are, you will realize that ignoring it is a fatal mistake. Lets suppose freedom was extremely important for a girl and that she was not aware of that fact. She just found herself unhappy in desk jobs or whenever she had fixed schedules without knowing why. Now what if she never understood this fact then married someone who placed very tight restrictions on her. In such a case she won't be able to take it anymore and she will become unhappy in her marriage even if she was not aware of the reasons. That was a simple example but in real life more than one factor would trouble a marriage and those factors would come tangled together that it would be impossible for a person who lacks self understanding to understand what's going on or why he is unhappy. After your reach a satisfactory level of self understanding you will know exactly what you are looking for. You won't get emotional without understanding what's going on simply because you will be aware of your needs. Yes you will fall in love but this will only happen when you find what you want exactly. Its only when you become aware of the items in your unconscious criteria that you will be able to make the right choice. So what is the right time for marriage? When you find that right person no matter how old you are. Source: https://www.facebook.com/forum9ja/posts/945102088884925?notif_t=like |
Happy Birthday bro Ucheosefoh: |
A few days before the end of his tenure, former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mohammed Bello Adoke, connived to award more than $3 billion in crude oil to a Chinese oil company linked to a controversial businessman, Emeka Offor, SaharaReporters has reliably learned. The highly questionable deal was consummated through a judgment handed down by a High Court judge who was also in on the deal, according to a source close to the deal. In December 2014, Addax Petroleum Development (Nigeria) Limited and Addax Petroleum Exploration (Nigeria) Limited, sued the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) seeking a huge financial award in what the company described as miscalculation of oil royalty and taxes, and breach of their 1998 “production sharing” contract with the NNPC in respect of certain oil fields. The contract covered oil-prospecting licenses (OPL) 98/118 (now Oil Mining Leases 123, 124, 136 and 137). In an extensive interview with our correspondent, the source claimed that Addax’s lawsuit was at the urging of Mr. Adoke, who should have been protecting the Nigerian public’s interest. In a letter dated April 2, 2015, Mr. Adoke proposed that President Jonathan approve an out-of-court settlement of the lawsuit, tagged FJC/ABJ/CS/1099/2014 and filed on December 23, 2014. In the letter to President Jonathan, the then Attorney General and Minister of Justice also indicated that he was attaching a letter dated the same day from the legal department of the NNPC. Mr. Adoke’s letter was fast-tracked in a manner that two legal authorities separately described as “highly unusual” and “unseemly.” On May 25, a mere four days before the end of President Jonathan’s tenure, a Federal High Court judge in Abuja had concluded the terms of the out-of-court settlement. The judge’s “judgment order” excluded the office of the AGF because Mr. Adoke did not send any lawyers to represent the government at the final judgment. “It’s highly curious that the ‘judgment order” did not list the AGF’s office as a defendant in the lawsuit. Yet, the AGF [Adoke] was the person generating a legal memo to the president [Jonathan] for an out-of-court settlement,” said an Abuja-based lawyer after reviewing the case. Nonetheless, the judge read out the terms of the agreement and gave an order sealing it, but his judgment order did not include the hidden cost of the judgment. This act of judicial concealment has baffled the lawyers who looked at the document. SaharaReporters obtained a copy of the hidden terms of agreement that puts the total value of NNPC’s indebtedness to Addax at more than $3 billion—specifically, a whopping $3,491,588,729.64. The judgment debt would be paid to Addax via crude oil lifting that could last for numerous years, an NNPC source disclosed. Addax Petroleum has claimed that a letter signed by Funsho Kupolokun, who was adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Petroleum, gave the company the right to a production-sharing contract relating to the oil fields named in their original lawsuit. Addax also claimed that, because of that letter from the presidential adviser, his company spent about $3 billion on the development of the oil fields. One of the lawyers who reviewed the case for SaharaReporters wondered why it took Addax no earlier than 2014 before they sued the Federal Government for the alleged breach of contract. Contacted by SaharaReporters to disclose Mr. Offor’s full involvement in the judgement scam, his representatives expressed preference for communication by email. Hours after we complied, Edwin Ndukwe of the Communications Department of Offor’s Chrome Group sent a response in which he denied that Mr. Offor was the 'outlet' through which Addax facilitated the settlement. “Sir Emeka had absolutely no hand or control in the proceedings of the court, which led to the outcome you inferred,” he said. “He is not a shareholder and he did not enter into any agreement to influence or sponsor the outcome of the court's decision. Addax Petroleum is gigantic enough to weigh in by itself on any judicial matters bothering on their business conduct in Nigeria.” He asserted that the Addax/Kaztec business to business relationship began in 2010 when Kaztec was awarded the TB 1921 contract for the installation of subsea pipeline and topsides in OML 123. “Since then, the relationship grew between the two as evident in the project being duly completed. Kaztec is a wholly 100% owned indigenous EPIC service provider in the oil & gas industry. It has performed very well over the years and have received numerous commendations for their technical competence and their ability to deliver on projects timeously and at significantly reduced cost from not just Addax but other firms.” We also reached out to NNPC spokesperson, Ohi Alegebe to ask how the NNPC intends to pay the debt as stipulated in the final judgement. He said he needed to reach the Legal Department of the NNPC to find out the details, but did not get back to us at the time of publishing this story. For their part, Addax offices in Abuja told our reporters that all of the company communication personnel were tied up in a training which involved the Managing Director, Mr. Cor Zegelaar, and cannot respond to our inquiries until next week. In a recent interview with Premium Times, former President Obasanjo openly accused Mr. Offor of scamming Nigeria out of billions of dollars in the so-called turn-around maintenance of refineries, calling him an ‘amateur’ who knew nothing about maintaining a refinery. He stated that Mr. Offor had infiltrated the police and anti-corruption agencies and NNPC officials to facilitate his scams. “[We met] refineries that were not working, refineries that were given to an amateur for repairs, for maintenance, what they call turn-around maintenance, to the company of Emeka Offor – Chrome Group,” he said of his government. “Where has Emeka Offor maintained refineries before? Where has he? That’s what we met. So the refineries were not working.” Reminded by his interviewers that despite that discovery he did not recover any money from Mr. Offor, the former President replied: “What can you recover? A man who was paid upfront? He had people. He got some police…people were there. And like they have said to you now, look, if it works for a week, that’s all you get. And Emeka Offor, after I left he became friends with every government that has come. Now he’s not only into refinery and oil and all that, he’s now also in energy!” Source: http://saharareporters.com/2015/09/03/how-president-jonathan-agf-adoke-awarded-chinese-oil-company-linked-emeka-offor-3b |

For the most part, people want the same thing from a romantic partner. People want spouses and partners who are: * Understanding * Appreciative * Respectful * Caring and kind * Helpful * Trustworthy * Positive * Fun to be around Relationships are difficult to maintain when they are filled with conflict, negativity and a lack of trust. So, what does it take to maintain a healthy relationship? People in long-term, satisfying relationships tend to do the following; Slow, but Consistent – Relationships work the best when people go slow and take their time getting to know each other. Whirlwind romances usually end in disaster. It also helps to be consistently supportive and encouraging. Inconsistent behavior causes misunderstandings and uncertainty. Keep Things Upbeat – Relationships work the best when partners express a positive and upbeat attitude towards each other. Genuine displays of happiness and affection go a long way when trying to make a relationship work. By contrast, relationships fail when indifference, anger and negativity become the norm. In fact, even a little negativity can create a lot of problems in a close relationship. This does not mean that people cannot express negative feelings in a relationship, but that there are appropriate (and inappropriate) ways of dealing with one’s negative feelings . Approach Problems Together – Couples feel closer and are more satisfied with their relationships when they approach problems and difficulties as a team. Couples who take an US versus the PROBLEM, rather than a YOU versus ME approach to conflict are much happier in the long run. Don’t Take Each Other For Granted – Over time, couples typically take each other for granted. At the start of a relationship people appreciate all the things that their partners do for them. However, as time goes on, people tend to expect more, but acknowledge a partner’s contributions less often. To keep a relationship happy and healthy it is important to show appreciation on a consistent basis. Appreciate Differences – Relationships work the best when partners have a lot in common, but respect and appreciate the differences that do exist. It helps to appreciate someone for who they are rather than try to change them or how they behave. Keep Things Exciting and Fun - It is easy for couples to get stuck in a rut. Doing the same things over and over creates boredom. Falling into a routine limits conversations and it can take the fun out of life. Successful couples learn how to manage this dilemma by doing novel and exciting activities with each other as often as they can . Sharing novel and exciting experiences gives couples something to talk about and it keeps romance alive. Be Approachable – People need to be able to talk freely with a romantic partner. Sharing what is going on in one’s life and how one feels about issues is important to do. But, being open with a partner is not always easy because it requires spouses to tell the truth and to LISTEN to things that may be difficult to hear. Listening in an attempt to UNDERSTAND, not control, evaluate, or judge is critical to having an satisfying relationship. Express Commitment – Relationships work the best when partners reassure each other of their love and commitment. It never hurts to tell a spouse that you love him or her and that you will always be there. Source: https://www.facebook.com/forum9ja/posts/946600065401794 |
Nigeria’s former Minister for Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has dismissed allegations made by the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Ajjampur R. Ghanashyam that during her tenure she “sat” on a $15 billion oil deal, and demanded that the ambassador apologize to her publicly. In a press statement released by her lawyers, she attributed Mr. Ghanashyam’s “acrimony” towards her to the refusal of the government in which she served to allow Oil and Gas Commission Videsh Limited (OVL), an Indian company, to default on its contractual obligation to provide a $6 billion investment in an 180,000 barrels (bpd) Greenfield refinery and 2,000 megawatt power plant or railway line from East to West of Nigeria. She described Mr. Ghanashyam’s statement that she delayed the 2006 approval of oil concession to OVL and Mittal Energy International (MITTAL), another Indian company, after receiving a $25 million signature bonus, as spurious, false and lacking in substance. Alison-Madueke asserted that she was not the Minister of Petroleum Resources in 2006 when the said Indian companies entered into an agreement with the Federal Government. As such, she said, she would not have received any signature bonus either as citizen or minister of the Federal Republic. She also said she had no personal reason to sit on the contract and wonder why the High Commissioner would choose to malign and attack her rather than commend her having acted dispassionately in recommending refund of the said signature bonus to the Indians when the matter was brought to her attention at the twilight of her tenure as Minister. “When the issue of the request for refund, made by OVL which was re-presented to me in May 2015, I immediately prepared and dispatched a letter dated 13th May, 2015, Ref #: PI.LM/3900/S.693/Vol.1/78b to former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) recommending for the refund of the said signature bonus in compliance with the relevant and extant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which requires such approvals to be granted by the President, and implemented by the Federal Ministry of Finance,” she stated. On the allegation by the High Commissioner that contrary to global best practices in the industry she used intermediaries to receive payment for crude oil transactions with India, the former Minister observed that the contract in question was a Government to Government crude oil sales transaction with established procedures which predated her tenure as Minister. According to the former Minister, under those procedures, the buying country selects and presents a local company as its agent to transact on its behalf as it is never the responsibility of the selling country to select or nominate a company for the buying country. Nigeria, she stressed, never dictated nor suggested any intermediary or marketing company for India for the purposes of the said transaction, suggesting that the Indian ambassador “mischievously obfuscated these facts to malign the former Nigerian Petroleum Minister whilst not disclosing that it was a Government to Government crude sales transaction.” In that connection, Mrs. Alison-Madueke said the High Commissioner had also neglected to inform the Daily Trust newspapers and Nigerians that the oil concession was granted neither to OVL nor MITTAL due to the inability of their subsidiary, EMO Exploration and Production, to meet the cash obligation. She therefore accused the diplomat of spreading false and misleading information calculated to malign Nigerian public officials,” saying that was “unbecoming of a foreign diplomat”. Asserting that Mr. Ghanashyam’s statement was aimed at damaging her reputation “for her insistence on protecting the interests of the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and for not acceding to inappropriate requests of his country to be relieved of its contractual obligations to Nigeria,” Mrs. Alison-Madueke requested “an unequivocal apology and a complete retraction of the libelous statements” against her. THE most wanted criminal in Benue State, one Terwase Awarze aka Gana, who had been terrorising the northern part of the state, on Monday, embraced the amnesty programme set up by Governor Samuel Ortom and surrendered about 85 weapons. Gana had been on wanted list of the military and other security agencies which prompted the deployment of soldiers to the area (Katsina Ala/Zaki Biam) recently in search of the man. The man was led to the Government House on Monday by Catholic Bishop, Katsina Ala diocese, Right Reverend Peter Adorboh, relatives and others where he surrendered the weapons. Governor Ortom expressed happiness for voluntarily coming to surrender his weapons and extended the amnesty expected to close today till the end of September. According to the governor, "Gana became terror to Benue and Taraba states, his activities made security operatives to declare him wanted but here we are today, he has willingly come and surrendered his weapons. As a result of his willingness, the security council reviewed the amnesty programme and extended it by four weeks, that means September ending." Gana was said to have been the leader of militia group of about 500 youths who have turned the area into killing field. Source: Scan news |
Nigeria’s Millennium Development Goals (MDG) office spent N154.2 million to construct a single borehole in Abuja, in a shocking example of contract inflation that has helped undermine the country’s ability to achieve its MDG goals. Drilling a single borehole in Abuja averages N1.5 million. A hydrology firm told PREMIUM TIMES that the amount should cover drilling and casing, installation of a solar-powered submersible pump, steel tower for the tanks, tanks, pipes, joints & suckers, installation and labour. The firm allowed an expanded estimate of N10 million if a water treatment facility is included alongside other optional accessories. The Abuja borehole, constructed at Gwarinpa, an expansive estate in the federal capital, had no such fittings. Indeed, the borehole had long become dysfunctional and was no longer dispensing water to the residents when PREMIUM TIMES visited in June 2015. Still, the Abuja MDG office told this newspaper it was more concerned with service delivery to the people, than the amount it takes to do so. The eight target goals of the MDGs set at the Millennium Summit of the United Nations in 2000 are eradication of extreme poverty and hunger; achieving universal primary education; promotion of gender equality; reduction of child mortality; improvement of maternal health; combating HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases; ensuring environmental sustainability and developing a global partnership for development. In 2010/2011 alone, N249.26billion was channelled through Nigeria’s federal ministries, departments and agencies, “Quick Wins” (Constituency projects, but now called Special projects), Conditional Grants Scheme (CGS) to state governments, and Special presidential interventions for MDGs programmes and projects. Analysts say poor execution of projects, racketeering, inflation of contracts, and other contractual breaches as some of the factors responsible for Nigeria’s inability to achieve its MDG goals. The Gwanrinpa borehole, constructed at N154, 242,200, according to the contract and budget papers obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, is located at Galadima ‘I’ community of the estate. The contract was awarded to Zarm Global Service on March 28, 2008. The company has no address, contact person or telephone number. Another N110.6 million was paid for the construction of a borehole at Tungan Nasara community of Jiwa Ward in Abuja Municipal Area Council. The contract was awarded to Global And Global Venture Limited on March 29, 2008. Also, the company has no address or contact person. When our reporter visited one of the project sites supposedly executed by the MDG office at a primary school in Dutse Alhaji community and another in Kubwa area of Abuja, there were no signs of any projects in the areas. Residents of the area told PREMIUM TIMES that the borehole had stopped working immediately after its completion. According to budget details, N8, 802,185 was paid for the construction of the borehole. Obinna Okafor, a representative of the company in charge of the project, Hunnigdale International Limited, provided no details beyond saying the project was moved from its initial site to Gbazango West Layout of Kubwa. At Nanda Community of Agyana Pandagi Ward in Abaji Area Council, Abuja, a borehole constructed at N8.1 million was also not functional. Ochiez Signature, which won the contract, has no office address. Its manager, Onu Clement, told our reporter the firm operates from his house at New Nyanya in Nasarawa State. Investigation revealed that a greater percentage of the 1,333 projects executed by the Abuja office of the MDGs between 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 in Abuja communities, were either below the set standard or had been abandoned by contractors. When PREMIUM TIMES sought the response of the MDGs office regarding the construction of a single borehole at the cost of N154, 242,200, and the poor state of the projects, the director of projects at the office, Mr. Dalhatu, said he could not discuss issues of contract or speak for the companies. Although an official who spoke on the condition of anonymity faulted the payment of N154 million for drilling of a single borehole, he said they were more interested in seeing the projects working, and that they will check available records, and consult with the MDGs focal person to find out what the problem was. Disturbed by massive criticisms that greeted the creation of Office of the Wife ‘of the President , Presidency denies that Buhari is not funding Aisha Buhari’s office. ‘Her only visit to that office was at the point of the take-over of the Villa by the incoming administration,’ Shehu said. According to Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, the presidency has said that ‘there will be no access to public funds’ for Aisha Buhari’s platform as the ‘ostentation, ubiquitousness and arrogance’ expected from the office are over and done with.’ In a report by Vanguard, Shehu reiterated that though an official portfolio was yet to be assigned to Aisha, ‘The ideal platform from which she will be useful to Nigeria’s women and children is still being thought out.’ ‘Once this has been concluded on, Mrs. Buhari’s role will become clearer to all Nigerians. There will be nothing shady or hidden about it. There will be no access to public funds. It will be purely private and voluntary,’ Shehu added. Speaking further, Shehu said, ‘President Buhari promised that there would be a clear difference between the role played by his wife during his tenure and that played by many previous First Ladies. ‘All that ostentation, ubiquitousness and arrogance we have come to expect from the office are over and done with. Change has come. ‘Her only visit to that office was at the point of the take-over of the Villa by the incoming administration,’ Shehu said. He added that the meeting during which she hosted the wives of governors was held in a section of the Villa’s banquet hall, not in the First Lady’s office. Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Anyim Pius Anyim unilaterally acquired the multi-billion-dollar Centenary City on the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Road, Abuja, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief alleged yesterday. PDP’s National Vice Chairman (Southsouth zone) Dr. Cairo Ojougboh said he was ready to face the ex-SGF in court to prove his sole ownership of the controversial housing estate. At a media briefing in his Abuja home late Monday, Ojougboh, reacting to what he described as “the show of shame”, which he said Anyim sponsored against him on Monday, accused the former SGF of acts of desperation “to cling onto his loot and spoils of office without putting into consideration the millions of Nigerians he is depriving of the dividends of democracy”. Calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to probe transactions relating to the Centenary City, Ojougboh said Anyim persuaded former President Goodluck Jonathan to sign the Centenary City documents without the ex-president reading the contents or consulting his advisers. The Centenary City project is sitting on a land area covering over 1, 500 hectares, the size of three districts in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The PDP chieftain has petitioned President Buhari, stating the facts relating to the transaction and the role played by Anyim in what he described as “a scam” perpetrated by a United Arab Emirates company, allegedly operating as a front for Anyim. Ojougboh said: “Yes, the former president signed the papers as presented to him by the former SGF. He was not properly briefed because of vested interests. “I can defend him; he was not part of the fraud. If Jonathan had been properly briefed, he would not have approved the project, let alone going to perform the ground breaking. “The former President thought that the Centenary City was for the good of all Nigerians because of the centenary spirit. Unknown to him, it was the private project of the former SGF and his cohorts. “I am calling on President Buhari now to revisit the centenary city project and he will be shocked that the project is owned by a private individual, but procured with government funds”. According to Ojougboh, the original landlords demanded compensation from the Federal Government, “but the sponsors of the project used a private firm to pay them N1.2 billion. He asked: Where did they source that money from?” He continued: “How can an individual still serving in the government get such a huge sum to pay compensation without government knowledge?”. Ojougboh alleged that the money was paid into a private company’s account. He said: “President Muhammadu Buhari should direct the Department of State Services (DSS), the police, the Directorate of Military Intelligence as well as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to look into the matter. “The President must insist that each of these security agencies should carryout independent investigations so that the depth of the matter would be reached. I am available to offer the much I know from my independent quests on the matter”. Ojougboh, a medical doctor, insisted that the project was a scheme used to defraud the Federal Government in taxes, stressing that the Free Zone status given to the multi-district estate was a fraud. Ojougboh also quoted Anyim as saying that the project was worth $4 billion, adding that the process violated the rules guiding the granting of free trade zone status by the Nigerian Export Processing Zonal Authority (NEPZA). The PDP chieftain, who was chairman of the board of NEPZA during the project’s conception, said the board did not approve a free trade zone status for it. “I can categorically attest to the fact emphatically and unequivocally, that the board did not approve the grant of the status of free trade zone to centenary city. “Centenary city cannot be a free zone because it is purely a residential estate within the confinement of the Federal Capital Territory and it is implicit that those who live in the free trade zone will require re-entry visa for ingress and egress. “I make bold to say that the Federal Government has no equity in the Centenary City project and that Senator Anyim Pius Anyim is the sole owner of the 3000 acres of land owned by the Centenary City, Abuja. “This is against the tenets and spirit of the Public Service rules for a public servant to own such a business whilst in government,” Ojougboh said. The party chieftain stated that his attention was first drawn to the scam by the Anti-Corruption Network, and that he had voiced his opposition to the anomaly. “It was meant to give import duty to the owners through the back door. The consequence was to rob Nigerian masses of their land, revenue and retard the industrial growth of the nation. “Therefore, for every one job the project creates today, it robs the nation of over 10 jobs in taxes and industrial development”. Ojougboh stated. Ojougboh raised some questions for Anyim: Does the law establishing the FCT allow for a free zone? Is it in the Abuja mater plan? How did Pius Anyim obtain the N1.2 billion resettlement fees? In whose custody is the Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) of the Centenary City? Anyim’s media aide, Mr. Sam Nwaobosi, declined comments because, according to him, the matter is in court. In a telephone conversation with reporters in Abuja yesterday, Nwaobosi said Anyim would not take up issues with Ojougboh. Said he: “Senator Anyim has gone to court to sue him for defamation on the previous press conference and interviews that he granted in which he accused Anyim of almost all these things you said he is saying now. “So, the matter is already in court and Senator Anyim does not wish to take up issues with him on matters that are already in court. “Since he feels aggrieved by what Cairo (Ojougboh) has been saying and writing against him, he is pursuing a very civilised cause by going to court to plead his case. “So whatever Ojougboh is saying, he will have an opportunity in court to explain and then plead his case.” Source: http://saharareporters.com/2015/08/19/how-former-sgf-pius-anyim-tricked-jonathan-sign-fraudulent-multibillion-dollar-abuja |

Going by the remuneration approved for them by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) formula, the annual take-home (excluding estacode, Duty Tour Allowance (DTA) and some sundry allowances which they are paid as necessary), of each of the 360 members of the House of Representatives is estimated at N18.26 million. Each of the 109 senators earn a bit higher, pocketing N19.66 million each a year, PREMIUM TIMES analysis shows. Additionally, each senator collects N1.01 million for his domestic staff, while each member of the House of Representatives collects N1million. Apart from this, each senator gets N202, 640 as Newspapers/Periodicals allowance. Based on the approved pay schedule, N1.4billion is spent on the lawmakers as furniture allowance annually, while their car loan stands at N2.34billion. With these figures, the 360 members of the House of Representatives gulp N6.58 billion from the nation’s treasury as total allowances and salaries, while the 109 Senators will cost the nation N2.14 billion. Together, the National Assembly will cost the country a total sum of N8.72 billion as allowances and salaries. However, the amount the Senators and Members of the House of Representatives remit as tax appears insignificant as it’s being charged on their basic salaries alone. The allowances are about 870 percent and 820 percent of their respective basic salaries. PREMIUM TIMES analysis of the lawmakers’ pay did however not include the illegal but hefty quarterly allowances lawmakers pay themselves – they call it office running cost. It is unclear how much it is now. In 2009, it was N192million per senator per quarter while their House of Representatives counterparts received N140 million. Insiders say the “allowances” have increased dramatically over time. In the twilight of the Seventh Assembly, the clamour by Nigerian civil society organizations only forced the legislators to knock off N20billion from their budgetary allocation, thus making them cut the habitual N150 billion to N130 billion. First-term senator, Ben Murray-Bruce’s call for reduction in allowances of members of the National Assembly received widespread commendation. A number of lawmakers followed suit, giving support to Mr. Murray-Bruce’s populist proposal. Although the Seventh Assembly made the N20 billion cut as part of their austerity measure, the N7.8 billion they will cumulatively earn is almost the sum total of 2015 capital allocation to Power Sector (N4.24billion) Ministry of Women Affairs (N1.25billion), the Federal Ministry of Communication Technology (N500million), Federal Ministry of Justice and the National Human Rights Commission (N500million), the Ministry of Science and Technology (N500million), the Petroleum Resources (N500million)the Ministry of Labour and Productivity (N200million) and Ministry of Police Affairs (N150million). FOR most Nigerian’s, 2015 began on a sour note, with little or nothing to cheer about. But for the hope for a better tomorrow, which has become the palliative of majority of the populace who bear the brunt of the disappointing run of successive governments; dying may have often times appeared to be a better option to living in the present uncertain state of the nation. Aside of atrocities like the civil war, the June 12 election annulment and some isolated events in our chequered history, 2015 up to this point, presented the worst aggregation of negative experiences we have had to endure, as the prospect of our co-existence as a nation was put to test when the two leading parties, APC and PDP, engaged each other in a media slugfest, with accusations and counter accusations being levelled against their opposing Presidential candidates in the run-up to the elections. One can only now imagine that if concerned citizens like Rev. Chris Okotie, and Abuja Accord peace campaigners like Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, Koffi Annan, Amb. Emeka Anyaoku, Gen. (Rtd.) Abdulsalami Abubakar and the US Secretary of State, Sen. John Kerry, had not moved hurriedly to arrest the situation; the eventual peace that followed the polls may have eluded us. January to March proved to be the worst months in our democratic cum political history as the political parties unleashed the mayhem of abrasive politicking, heating the polity with their campaigns of calumny, political intimidation and sometimes, attack on aspirants. It brought out the primal nature of our politicians creating an air of apprehension across the nation that resigned itself to possibilities of the worst. In March to April, it became glaring to all and sundry that the fears that Nigeria; arguably one of the most endowed nation’s under heaven, and Africa’s largest economy was cash strapped; contrary to previous spirited denials by the former Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. (Mrs) Okonjo-Iweala. So bad was it that she could not but concede that the government had to borrow over N300 billion to fund its salary obligations across its parastatals. April to May ushered in the worst dip in our electricity output in over four decades which thrust the entire nation into darkness for upwards of two weeks. Those months also saw our great nation set embarrassingly on the verge of economic collapse and virtual shutdown of all sectors, due to the worst spell of fuel shortage the nation ever witnessed. Even in the black market, petrol sold for as high as N400 per litre, N313 up from an official N87 pump price. These were trying times for Nigerians, which made the dread of a possible breakdown of law and order, and impending doom a palpable reality. After the elections were held, Nigerians had hoped that with the new leadership on ground, June and beyond will offer Nigerians a reversal of fortunes from the mis-governance and a dereliction and abdication of responsibilities by the past government, now that a new government is in place. Sadly, what we are experiencing is not cheering at all. Now Nigerians are asking Mr. Buhari and his APC team: When will the change start? It is quite unfortunate that the President’s apparent slow pace of governance has damaged the enthusiasm that greeted his election. He should not allow things to take this downturn. Questions are now being asked about APC’s ability to manage because of the disarray in the party over election of National Assembly officers. Under normal circumstances, this exercise should not have posed any problem because APC providentially has the majority in both Houses of the National Assembly. Over the course of its 16 years in power, the former ruling party had several crisis of its own, which boiled-over in the polity, bringing it to near implosion. But this shoddy management of this in-house election has exposed the incompetence of the APC chiefs in handling change. They need to prove us wrong. One only prays that President Buhari is not being held hostage by a new cabal. The energies of this government should be directed at taking the nation beyond the economic, corruption, failed public services and security challenges which have hobbled it. These are the accomplishment that will make the gains attained by Rev. Okotie and the campaigners for peace a resounding success. Indonesia's state search and rescue agency has reported that it has lost contact with an Indonesian aircraft. In a tweet posted on Sunday, the National Agency Search and Rescue egency said the Trigana Air flight had 54 passengers on board. The plane was reported to be an ATR-42 model. The passengers include 44 adults, two children, three toddlers and five crew members. According to the tweet, the aircraft lost contact while flying over the remote eastern Papua region at 2:55pm local time. Al Jazeera's Step Vaessen, reporting from Jakarta, said the plane was scheduled to land at a small airport in Oksibil at around 3pm local time (06:00 GMT). Oksibil is a remote town near the country's border with Papua New Guinea. She said reports indicated that "the weather was very bad" in Papua at the time the plane was in the air. The search operation has been suspended as night fell in the region and will resume on Monday morning, Vaessen said. The government said it is coordinating with other authorities to implement the search operation. By Femi Aribisala “I have houses in at least 188 countries in the world, so I am richer than Bill Gates.” (Adeboye). Recently, a friend took me to the jewel-in-the-crown of the Redeemed Christian Church of God; a glitzy parish called “City of David” in Victoria Island, Lagos. Displayed resplendently on a wall in the church-office is a design of their current building project; a 14 storey architectural extravaganza titled “Trinity Towers.” Is Redeemed still a church or is it now essentially a business concern? The Trinity Towers project shows the lines are now totally blurred. Jesus warns: “No one can serve two masters. You cannot serve both God and Money.” (Matthew 6:24). Nevertheless, this Tower of Babylon being built with church funds is designed both for the worship of God and for the worship of money. The project is an appeal to crass commercialism; a blatant celebration of wealth. In this poverty-stricken Nigeria, the foundation of the building alone is expected to cost over 2 billion naira. Side-by-side with a 5,000 seat auditorium for church services are high-brow restaurants, cafeterias, indoor swimming pools, cinema halls, gymnasiums, retail shops, games arcades, lawn tennis courts, relaxation spots, and a helipad as the crowning glory. Of what relevance is all this “supermarket” in a church? Anointing for carnality A church-member, overwhelmed by the grandeur of it all, buttonholed me in the hallway. I did not know him from Adam, nevertheless, he held me hostage as he waxed lyrical about how the Redeemed Church was, to use his words: “taking over.” “We have already got the vice-presidency,” he said. (The vice-president of Nigeria is now a Redeemed pastor). “Next we will get the presidency,” he continued; “and then we will get DSTV;” (a South African satellite television network). The anointing for this pride of life flows right from the top. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Church is Pastor Adeboye. A few years ago, he decided he needed a billion naira without which his “work of God” could not be done. So he confounded the Christian faith by establishing a “millionaire’s club.” To be a member, you had to hand over a million naira to him in Jesus’ name. Thereafter, he upped the ante by calling for a “billionaire’s club.” He announced that he would be building an auditorium that can only be described as “fantabulous.” It would be a ginormous three kilometers in length and three kilometers in breadth. This project is clearly more designed to get Adeboye into the Guinness Book of World Records than it is to get the members of Redeemed into the kingdom of God. Declared Adeboye on that occasion: “We need 1 billion naira from ten people. If you are one of them, please see my personal Secretary after we finish today.” Who are those likely to have this kind of money to give in the Nigeria of today except those who have cornered public funds? Thereafter, an announcer sought to know the members of the church who were “willing to join hands with our Father in the Lord to build a new auditorium to God’s glory.” Vanity upon vanity The proposed auditorium is not to the glory of God. The proposed auditorium is to the glory of Adeboye. Adeboye’s project is reminiscent of Saul’s, who built a monument to himself. (1 Samuel 15:12). Nowhere in the entire New Testament was money ever collected for putting up a building. Money was only collected for the poor. The temple of God is no longer a physical building. The temple of God is now Jesus Christ. Pastor Adeboye is getting increasingly carried away by vanity. I have a tape of a question-and-answer session he had with his church-workers a number of years ago in which he boasted that the time would soon come when, before anybody could aspire to be president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he would first have to talk to Redeemed Church. Nothing in the scriptures can be construed as suggesting this as one of the stated objectives of Jesus Christ. A Redeemed church-member told me of another meeting he attended captioned: “A Day Out with the G.O.” It was a dinner for financial sponsors of one of the annual “Holy Ghost Festivals.” Pastor Adeboye boasted tongue-in-cheek on that occasion that the time would soon come when the Queen of England would plead to join Redeemed in order to work as an usherette. The audience reportedly responded with wild applause and shouts of “Amen.” Richer than Bill Gates At the just-concluded 63rd Annual Convention of the Redeemed Church, Adeboye declared that he is now richer than Bill Gates; widely acknowledged as the richest man in the world. He said: “I have houses in at least 188 countries in the world, where we have our churches, so I am richer than Bill Gates. Each time I visit these countries, my children would be struggling and saying daddy, come and stay with me.” These “houses” don’t belong to Adeboye; they belong to Redeemed church. Knowingly or unknowingly, Adeboye distorts the gospel. Jesus says: “All who have given up home or brothers and sisters or father and mother or children or land for me will be given a hundred times as much. They will also have eternal life.” (Matthew 19:29). However, Jesus words are spirit. (John 6:63). Therefore, his “houses” are entirely spiritual, while Adeboye’s are physical. Jesus does not make his disciples richer than Bill Gates. Instead, he says: “God will bless you people who are poor. His kingdom belongs to you! But you rich people are in for trouble. You have already had an easy life!” (Luke 6:20/24). Adeboye continued: “If I announce here that tomorrow morning, I need a car to travel to the new auditorium, how many cars do you think would be made available to me by you my children? Those of you that do not have a car of your own, very soon, God will give you your own cars. So, I am appealing to you to become an incurable soul winner before you leave this convention ground and your cup will overflow.” Anathema to Christ This is nothing but the enticing word of man’s wisdom. Believers don’t preach the gospel in order to receive cars. We do because God commands that we do so. Jesus had neither chariots nor horses. He had no lands and houses. Indeed, he warned a prospective disciple who wanted to follow him they would not be staying at the “Sheraton Hotel:” “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” (Matthew 8:20). Jesus does not speak like Adeboye. He says: “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master.” (Matthew 10:24-25). Jesus’ example is anathema to Adeboye’s declaration that he is now the richest man in the world. This is the word of Jesus the Adeboyes of this age choose to ignore: “It’s terribly hard for rich people to get into the kingdom of heaven! In fact, it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into God’s kingdom.” (Matthew 19:23-24).
