After teana4040's post of delay after medical, I decided to fly under the radar, hoping and praying this would help me dodge the bullet but alas...I got hit! Status changed to medical passed at 12 noon yesterday, then got emails of message and update at about 3pm, only to log in to see correspondence...Application Refused! Purpose of visit, travel history, financials. Even though I am a guy, I suddenly feel like a lady who has just been gilted by her lover So I guess the only thing left to say is...it was fun while it lasted. That's it from me folks, I'll be taking some time off to recoup and to regroup. I hereby close the gate to all bad news. Every other person after me shall have positive testimonies to share, in Jesus Name! #GodHasWon 17 Likes |

standupguy: Oga, did you see the "pun intended" part and broad grin and tongue sticking out emoticons? You should calm down o, life is not as serious as you are trying to make it seem. First of all, you said i'm out of line with "most" of my assumptions. I made only two statements/assumptions and you shot both of them down so even your introductory statement is incoherent. Secondly, your conclusion that i have 2-3 years work experience leaves a lot to be desired about your attention to detail. Read my post again. That was in reference to admission requirements for an MBA and not my work experience. If you had been attentive enough, you would have noticed a few pages back where i stated how many years of professional experience I have. I hope you aren't going for a research program o? Was it really necessary for you to remind me that I do not have any Canadian experience? Isn't that like the common denominator of everybody on this thread who is applying for a trv? How then is that relevant to the discussion? Introducing the issue of competition from Canadians is absolutely beyond the scope of what was being discussed. I have no beef with whether one applies to college or to university...for goodness sake I applied to two colleges! I was only inferring that Centennial and Carleton not giving me admission is their own loss and not mine. The person I sent that post to did not reply and so I'm really at loss as to the motive behind your intervention. Judging from this unwarranted aggression of yours, I'm guessing you got admitted into Centennial? 4 Likes |

SeraSera: Work Experience: Frankly everyone who has graduated from university and done NYSC can claim work experience. This is quite an extreme example but...even selling gala on the street is work experience, you just have to know how to package the description. Professional Certification: I have a certification in project management. I honestly do not know if this had any influence in the admission decision. Project management doesn't teach any form of Finance or Accounts or Economics, which are all crucial for Business Administration degrees. I sha included the certification. Successful Application: Sincerely, i'm not the "spiritual" or "spooky" type but I'd be foolish not to acknowledge the favour of God being the final influencer in my application. But then again, favour is when opportunity meets preparation. I really, really, really prepared for the application to that university. The two most important factors in any admission decision are the References and the SOPs. And since everybody is likely to ask for reference only from people who will give them positive reviews, that swings the needle of importance more towards SOP. I spent about one week writing the two essays for that application 2 Likes |

Gu2015: Yes I do, some MBAs will waive work experience though. The average work experience for most MBAs is 2-3 years. If your cousin does not have work experience don't let that dissuade him/her. The person just has to spend a lot of time doing a detailed enough search for which universities have requirements that play to the person's strengths. The saying goes "if you have 24 hours to cut a tree, spend 23 hours sharpening the cutlass and just 1 hour cutting the tree". If your cousin needs some help in searching for the right school, I can volunteer some of my time for that. 1 Like |

Solo8: Well, as far as I am concerned, Carleton and Centennial can stick their popularity up their rectal cavities The salary one can earn with an MBA from UVic is much more than what is earnable with all the degrees in Centennial put together (pun intended) Not to talk of the 3 years PGWP that's obtainable after the MBA compared to just 1 year PGWP that would have been obtainable if any of those "Popular" schools had given me admission. Feel free to attribute it to the demand factor, I attribute it to the God factor anytime anyday! 5 Likes 1 Share |

SeraSera: University of Victoria, British Columbia, Masters in Business Administration. Funny thing is I applied to Centenniel College for PGD in International Business Management and they turned me down because of my CGPA. I applied to Carleton for PGD in Sustainable Development, they turned me down too. I applied to University of Victoria for MBA, they gave me admission plus even $6,000 scholarship. When I read the letter, a teardrop or two rolled down my cheeks. It is the doing of Jehovah and it is marvelous in my sight! 18 Likes 2 Shares |

lakusi: Whether you tick Yes o. or you tick No o, all na the same thing. The aim of that question is to help CIC determine whether or not they should send you for medical test. But whether you tick yes or no, you will still be sent for medicals when you qualify. Having said that, the correct answer to tick is "YES". Nigeria is one of the designated countries and you have lived in Nigeria for 6 months consecutively. 2 Likes |

ZionSpecie: I'm not sure about including a letter of apology. If you feel you must address the past issue then just one paragraph in your Letter Of Explanation should be sufficient for that. You have to be careful not to come across as "begging" the VO, so that they don't take it as another sign of desperation. Best of luck! 2 Likes |

OyBosEnEmm: I consider number 2 suggestion there as VERY HIGH RISK! When you were applying for TRV, you "promised" the VO that you would come back to Nigeria after your studies. Number 2 there is in complete contravention of that promise. Moreover, if your hubby is really "MISSING" you, then he doesn't need a study Visa to come meet you to quench his matrimonial fire. That can be achieved by a regular visiting/tourist visa. I'm not saying he shouldn't give his study visa application another try, i'm just saying you might be better off not including any mushy-mushy reasons when writing a letter in support of his application. Let's hope the more experienced ogas (@justwise, @siga, @fhemmy, @chrigo e.t.c.) can you shed more light on suggestion 1 above? Does PGWP give one legal grounds to invite family over on a permanent basis? 1 Like |

laureek: I have 7 years gap in education and my cgpa is lower than his but I still got direct admission into a Masters programme in a reputable university. Once you are sure of the Masters program he wants to apply for, find 3 or 4 schools in 3 or 4 diff provinces which offer that program. Before you apply to the schools, email the graduate admissions secretary, giving a summary of his credentials, and ask what chances he has of being admitted. These people are sincere enough to tell you whether you stand a chance or not. If you just apply without emailing speaking with an admissions staff first, you are just playing NairaBet with you application money. Once you guys make up your minds on which masters programme, lemme know so I can join in the search for universities that might me willing to offer admission. 5 Likes |

kfrosh: IMO, it is easier to get US student Visa than Canada. The issue with US is the higher tuition fees and more competitive admission process. Also, no prospect of Post Graduate Work Permit leading to PR. |
