Gulean: Good day,my fellow Nairalanders.I have been searching schools and I have found some that I'm interested in. But it seems that all colleges and universities required original copy of secondary and post secondary transcripts to be sent to them directly by my former schools. I was already planning to go and collect the transcripts by myself, then use scanned copies or photocopies to apply for admission to different institution and submit my original transcript if admitted before resuming for studies. I also understand that I need this original transcripts for TRV application. Please house, what do you think I should do?How many copies of original transcripts can my former schools issue out? Has any one of you applied with photocopied transcript to Unialberta, MUnewfound land,Algonquin college, NAIT, Carleton or saskpoly with a photocopy or scanned transcript and succeed? Please quote me,your suggestions are highly anticipated. God bless you all Your school can issue you as many transcripts as you want but you'll have to pay for each one of them. A couple of Canadian schools (especially the older, more established ones) accept soft copy of transcripts. So, what you can do is get one official copy of your transcript for yourself, scan it and use to apply to schools which accept this method. When you get admission from a school of your choice, they will still request for the hardcopy, which you can then request your school to send to them. I know Carleton and University of Victoria accept softcopy transcripts. Also Centennial College |

Giov: No one wants to respond to my question ehn? Isorrait! If cost of application is an issue for you, maybe you should consider Centennial College as they do not require any application fee. Most other schools require an application fee for every program applied to. In other words, application to three programs in the same school equals payment of three application fees. |

sinie: good day all. I want apply to do my masters in Canada against the January admissions. the plan was to go with my husband and 1 year old daughter, however I just found out I am pregnant again and am confused. After much deliberation my hubby and I decided to go on with the travel plans but I need advice from you guys; 1. will I still be given Visa to travel despite my condition, from my calculation I will be due February or march and I intend to start the program Jan 2. will it be better for me to apply to go and give birth in Canada and from there change my Visa to study Visa after the delivery ( I know its possible in the USA but not sure if it is in Canada) personally I will prefer to go ahead with my study visa application not hiding the fact am pregnant. please I need urgent advice on how to go about this as I am running out of time.
thanks my good people My question is...will you be able to combine academics with baby-care? I guess that the beginning part of a program is the most intensive part so if your program is to start in January and you are due to delivering February, how do you plan to cope? |

funmi14: Thanks for this info/links. Please HOUSE, I want to apply for my friend. Kindly advise on appropriate options, they are novice as far as Canada study application is concern. Applicant1: Studied Bsc. PHYSIOLOGY 2:2 Grade.. Gradauated 2010(work-managing somewhere till now) Applicant 2: Studied Bsc. Health Education..2:2 Grade.. Is it possible for them to get MSc Program ? or they should opt for Post Grad. Diploma. Any suggestion on courses of relativity will be highly appreciated. Thanks. No offence intended, but I find it a bit odd when "graduates" say they need help in finding a post graduate program. Whether it is a school across the Atlantic, or one beyond the Pacific, the process remains the same. Google schools, check their requirements, narrow down choices, then apply. Its understandable if one needs info on the pros and cons of particular schools with regards to particular courses or tuition or living expenses dynamics, but this kind of blanket request leaves a little to be desired. #FloodGatesOpen |

mevisbleek: Parents like pushing they're kids to do phd cos they wanna use it as bragging rights in the midst of their friends. My mum pushed me so had to do phd cos she wan brag for august meeting. Don't get me wrong phd is lovely if u wanna become an academia. I would say it depends on ur person and career goals. The Labour market is stiff right now and phds with no work experience end up doing postdoc at 40k/yr for a long time.
My advise: finish from Conestoga, get some work experience then try to get into a strong school for Ur MBA Eg Queens, university of Toronto, schullich business school, Richard ivey school of business etc after that u will be posted to some sexy company for internship and if God helps u like he helped me u will get hired on. Work again for a little while and if u still have the craving for phd u can do that part time while working. Trust me, don't just rush from school to school to school without experience pls. Great advice |

mevisbleek: Solo8 I disagree with you on "does not worth the price". I did an MBA and must say all my class mates got hired from internship. I mean they got really good gig. I'm a living testimony Bro. A few got gigs as marketing managers at Rogers, a couple got the RBC rotational program, a couple got Scotiabank international development program, a few got into imperial oil as territory manager, remainder got gigs in siemens and stuff. So, it's worth it and I will do it again and again and again and as well advise everyone to Please what school/province did you do your MBA in? And the jobs your classmates got, were they all within the province where you schooled or some got jobs in other provinces? |

CruzAj: I studied Physics in my UG, so i wrote in my SOP that Physics exposed me to carbon and stainless steel which are essential materials used in the fabrication of most engineering structures such as the high pressure oil and gas pipeline system. And during the program i discovered pipeline construction and integrity to be areas where i should develop my skills further and that Welding will equip me with detailed and more practical exposure on pipeline engineering material properties. See as you come de make welder work de hungry me Permission to be your apprentice sir! #GodMustWin |

moronallah: Hello all, I have just received my application document from canadian embassy Ghana after six weeks and I was refused study permit for lack of sufficient fund to pay my tuition fee. I am worried because I was admitted to a one year PGD program and the full tuition amount of about 25k canadian dollars have been fully paid for by my brother(sponsor) who also made available his account statement and fix deposit certificate in excess of 20m. The reason sited for my refusal is rediculous to me and I don't know what the real issue is. Can anyone advise? I was asked to reapply if situations change but i am considering just forgetting about all this foreign study thing. First of all, nothing good comes easy so please forget about forgetting about it. What document did you submit as evidence that you had paid tuition? Did you apply through paper route? If so, it is possible that your evidence of payment wasn't conspicuously positioned or maybe the VO was just not thorough enough in his/her assessment. Whatever the case, I suggest you try again using the online route which allows you load a Letter of Explanation in which you can state in bold font that TUITION HAS BEEN FULLY PAID. I am 101% sure your second attempt will be successful! #GodMustWin |

vinegar: Hi everyone...my admission came late so I have to apply ASAP. I need advice on two things.... 1. I studied Mechanical engineering in my first degree finished 2010....served between 2011 and 2012. Started working in a bank in 2013. NOW I got admission for a diploma in Safety and risk engineering. What can I possible use as home ties since I can't get study leave from my organisation....reason being that my intended course of study has nothing to do with banking.
2. How do I go about filling the questioneer? Do I have to print and complete in ink?.....Am going by paper route
Thanks for your anticipated response. When you say diploma, do you mean undergraduate or postgraduate diploma? It is always advisable to go for a higher qualification than you already have as that gives your visa application chances a boost. You haven't exactly built a career in banking since you've been it for only two years. You can handle that with a statement in your Letter of Explanation saying that after a short lived stint in banking, you have come to the realization that your only true passion is in engineering, hence your return to school to improve your competencies. As for home ties, the primary evidences are 1. Documents (C of O, deed of assignment, or survey plan) showing possession of landed property 2. Pictures showing close knit family relationship. 3. Membership of a professional organization 4. Statement of pension account 5. Letter of employment and letter approving study leave In the absence of (or in addition to) the above, consider doing a court affidavit stating that you will return to Nigeria IMMEDIATELY after your studies. #GodMustWin |

mevisbleek: The highest as u can see is business managers lol which a lot of companies love MBA grads in that role. That pic is true to some extent but not 100%. It all depends on years of experience and the company u join. There are still a lot of engineers making less than 137 and a lot making more so it depends. If u want exact figures I can give u lol Abeg give us exact figures o! So that we can count our chickens before they hatch!!! |

mevisbleek: I'm sorry maybe no one has a strong answer to your question. Chairman, I noticed you mentioned MBA once or twice in earlier chats. Did you do an MBA? If so, please what are the prospects of MBAs in Canada? This thread seems filled with engineering peeps which gives the impression that engineering is the main or only thing booming in Canada? Can you shed light on this? Brosses @Siga, @GboyegaD, @Solo8 Your thoughts on this will be highly appreciated |
