The soldier was stationed there by order not by self will so Wike is supposed to understand the position of the soldiers and act maturely by asking them who their boss is, communicate with him and move on , because if he uses force, he won't achieve anything...

Common sense is not common anyway in Nigeria, so everyone is trying to show himself...
Force huh

In other words, with all due respect, the army can, under orders, arrest a lot of innocent civilians and mistreat them because 'soldiers are under orders'.
Under orders to do what?

Isn't that what happened in state of emergency? Isn't that what happened in all those operation this and that.

You're just being emotional on the issue. Fact is no civilian can counter an order given to a soldier by his superior except the president..

P.s I am not a soldier. I know so I speak.

It is only in Nigeria you read things like these. Who controls the Pentagon? Pete Hegseth, a civilian is the U.S. Secretary of War (formerly Secretary of Defense), mention that person in the U.S. military that will disobey an order from him? There is no general or whoever who outranks Pete Hegseth's civilian authority in the military. Let you guys keep deceiving yourselves in this country.

This Stockholm Syndrome some of you have with previous military rule in Nigeria is a problem. That is why they make some of you do frog jumps and lie in gutters. Wike was even too nice. Go to any NYSC camp and see how a soldier will react to a corper saying they are not foolish after being called so.

This is a civilian government.
Is wike the minister of defense ?

In N.Y.S.C camp soldiers aren't supposed to abuse you in any form. They are rules though, so if you do anyhow you see anyhow.

This is a civilian government agreed but the military has its own laws as part of the government too. President tinubu is the overall Head of all the armed forces. He is the only civilian that powerful. Maybe the minister(s) of defense?

Nothing to do with fear or favour. It is what it is and that boy showed wike his ignorance. Why on earth did you think he was so bold.

If the lieutenant's last order came from a vice admiral ,a 3 star general in the navy and a senior colleague to the present CDS, no army chief currently can overrule it. The only person who can overrule his last order is President Ahmed Bola Tinubu who is the commander in chief of the armed forces.

The lieutenant go bounce even the vice principal and senate president join.

This is not the time to infuriate the men in khakhi.
Wike should tread carefully and totally avoid them.
He was uncouth by calling the lieutenant a fool,by extension the military and everything it embodies alongside the nation
Tinubu must replace him if reelected .
I was saying this people say na lie. Many Nigerians really have no idea how things really are

So if the superiors orders them against civilians, you go cheer for am.

Let's not support wrong because it is.wike looking like the joke he is. Lord knows I don't like that man, even right from when he was a minister , then Governor. But as a minister he is the superior of the soldier

I am not saying this because I am defending tinubu or wike. I am saying this because we are now a civilian government.

Taking your argument to it's extreme , we can have a situation where soldiers don't obey civilian ministers because they have their orders. We can even end up saying that the army is superior to civillans. That's how we ended up with army government and with all sorts of abuse

Plus, there have been times the army has been ordered by senior officer to treat civilians like trash. Do we now say that it was right because last order?

Today na wike, yesterday it was the Shiites , tomorrow it could be you and me.

Forget party, and as obnoxious as wike is, he is still the superior of the soldier as a minister of the government.
You’re missing the point again.

A soldier answers only to his superior officer. The only civilian who can challenge that officer is President Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

If Wike understood how the military operates, he would have contacted the superior officer directly instead of creating unnecessary drama.

The military operates by strict rules — our personal feelings about them don’t change how those rules work.

Wike, as a minister, has no authority to instruct a soldier. That’s simply not how the chain of command works, and no soldier would take orders from him. He should report any issues through the proper military channels.

Soldiers are not superior to civilians, but they also don’t answer to them. In the same way, civilians aren’t inferior to soldiers — we simply operate in different spheres of authority.

What the soldier did was wrong.

I know, so I will say this...I am not a tinubu supporter and wike is a awful minister of the fct with corruption all over him

But he is the minister of the fct. And if a soldier is disobeying a minister of the republic, and people are hailing him because tinubu, it shows that people who are in opposition are just as lawless as those in government.

Obey constituted authority

But then again we have a habit in this country of not following the rules and authority. Whether we support tinubu or not. See MC olumo

But the fact that we have a government of essentially bad people does not make yerima action right

Would those praising the lieutenant be doing so if it was an Obi appointee as fct minister? And would those critical of the lieutenant be praising him if obi was president?

We are so blinded by politics that we don't want to do the right thing.

Like I said, if you read this and think I support tinubu, think again. I would say this if it was obi as president or anyone else . If you like , support the lieutenant. Don't complain when you see a bad situation right. Like I always say, apc won't have been in charge if opposition was united.
Many people don't understand how the military works. A soldier obeys his superior. The only civilian that they can change an instruction is the commander in chief of the armed forces.

Soldiers ideally are not beholden to civilian authority. Why do you think they have court marshal's and do not try their cases in the normal courts.

I just feel sorry for that soldier now because when he will be redeployed to Sambisa, those hailing him now won't even be aware. His job there was illegal. You all just can't seem to understand that the military is powerless in the face of politicians. The military have to asslick politicians to get things done.
Who will redeploy him.?

Someone was given orders he obeyed and you said they'll redeploy him. Wike will send him to sambisa how? Does transfer for a soldier come from office of fct minister.

Oga wike should hold his L strong because the only civilian person that could have made that soldier move from that spot was president tinubu in person ( commander in chief of the armed forces ). Even shetima he for bounce am.

The public humiliation and message to Wike (FCT Minister cool ) was well-packaged and delivered by a junior officer.

Trump still has Tinubu by the balls. He has no time for this kind of shenanigan right now.

I can guarantee you that the order did not come from just one very high-ranking military officer.

The officer (whose father is a retired General) has been turned to a NATIONAL HERO!

The King’s birthday was this week, and I was just thinking out loud , is there even a more relatable “Bollywood” face than this legend? At least outside of India, here in Nigeria, he is Mr. Bollywood, that much I know.

My formative years of getting into Bollywood lore and falling in love with it had so much to do with him. A genre-bending actor, he could be anything! a perfect testament to how good he truly is. From Deewana (1992) to Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994), Don (2006), Om Shanti Om (2007), and Jawan (2023), we’ve witnessed a master at his absolute peak.

I remember a fond memory from the early 2000s in my family home (Bollywood freaks, these lot 😭). We had just rented Duplicate (1998) on VHS back when VHS rental clubs were a thing and we were still a high-trust society 😭. We all gathered around the one singular 12inch barely coloured JVC telly in the house to watch the King play two versions of himself, Bablu, an aspiring chef, and Manu, a gang*ter. He played both roles with such delicate dexterity that it got the whole house divided on who to side with, and let’s be honest, Manu was looking really appealing 👀😩. A memory I’ll cherish forever.

Maybe Amitabh Bachchan rivals his popularity, but it’s negligible, in my opinion. I remember tweeting about Jawan and the King back in 2023 and Indians camped in my mentions for weeks.

The King is 60 this week, and perhaps in the twilight of his illustrious career, but he remains an absolute legend. I’m just grateful to have witnessed his greatness over the years.

Happy Belated Birthday, King Shah Rukh Khan!! 🥳🎉
There can be only one. It's amitabh.

His facial expression and the way he signals his hand to his soldiers to unleash their Cannon Firepower on the enemy always amuses me.
Exactly why I like him. He did that role so well that you aurally hated him and carried it on after the movie. The character was supposed to be hated.
