abduleez1: Yea, it did debut recently in a few markets outside China and is still going to release in more markets cos the hype is getting other distributors and the production studio to release it in more markets.
China has $2.05bn of the total accumulated $2.09bn so far. Including $20mn in US week 3. #7 animation movie box office ever for non-english fare.
WB is handling distribution in S/East Asia. Another distributor releases in UK this Friday amid good preview numbers. And 36 more European countries soon to follow in the weeks to come.
So it's hype and sheer box office stardom will propel it to more markets with people curious what this is all about especially with the Hollywood releases having a slow start to 2025. Better to join the hype train with the biggest potential presently. Interesting. Well we will see how it goes |

BlackManta: Ryan Coogler's Sinners is the first movie I plan to see in cinema this year but considering the speed at which new movies are dropping on streaming or digital, why should I squander 7k at the cinema
Because I can bet that before the end of May, a digital version of Sinners will available for download. Mbj my man any day. The guy oozes charisma. Was shocked to see him as a young G when I was watching the wire. I'm gonna download it sha. It's in my blood. |

nairalanda1: More money would fund things like body cameras, electronic records, forensics , well.equipped police cars, weapons , training facilities, etc etc.
Saying that more money won't change them implies that you don't want a good enough police force, you just want to grumble.
Anyway, that's that Well I'm glad someone still believes in the Nigerian police. I All those things you listed up there cannot change them. Like a zebra claiming horse. The nigerian police is corrupted from top to bottom. The few good ones cannot make a difference. The problem isn't funding alone the problem is attitude to work. They don't come to serve and protect they are looking for thier daily bread. |

nairalanda1: They've got a lot of tech in the US that the need for checkpoints is moot.
Nigeria? We fund our police with less than one tenth of what the NYPD gets for policing 25 million people.
That's why they are still stuck in the 1930s. No money, no fancy toys and equipment. Low funding in Nigeria is across board. The police aren't the only ones lowly funded. They should stop pretending as if more money would change them. |

nairalanda1: It's kind of the same though.
Part of the problem is our police is underfunded. All the issues with them arise from that fact.
I'm.not defending police corruption or evil. This is where your government should learn to lead us well. The us had licence and registration check points in certain states and is court approved. That's it licence and registration. Here they'll ask for mot, proof of ownership , and whatever. Everythingbis trimmed towards extortion and police cannot say they're underfunded hence the criminal acts we all live in this country |

RZArecta: Does replying your question dispute fact that it's not wise to speed through a checkpoint of armed security operatives even if it happens only in Edo State ? . No I agree that it is very wrong. I get stopped all the time. Its irritating but I stop. My point is I'm not even sure if it's legal or not anymore. They keep banning and unbanning the check points. Truth be told the reason people hate police chrck points is not because of criminals alone most people know the police is out to extort. One evenening I was passing by a police barracks and this guy walked out of the gate right in front of me. He was wearing a police top and trousers with bathroom slippers. He just started waving cars down. I didn't stop for this one. I just drove past because I knew he was looking for dinner. While I blame the boy for not stopping I think the chrck point issue is now a menace. |

RZArecta: Ignoring a police stop and search operation anywhere in the world is a sure recipe for take anything you see like that. Please, even if you carry Cana, loud, your papers are not complete or they're expired. Make sure you stop when asked to. A little hailing and banter always goes a long way with police officers and if you have small cash, you can bless them but if e no dey, tell them next time boss.
