am happi @ ur success, 2 ur question, ur dish is currently locked on to a satellite @ 28 deg east, to change to anoda satellite, u av 2 move ur dish. For a beginner lk u, anoda sat u can try again is w4@ 36deg(dstv position) east which contains sm free manageable channels like oh tv, atn&rdv(which both shows 1 premier leage match in a weekend), u will also get trenet (which airs live cnn news & is free 4 d maintime). Many oda channels on dis sat are encrypted cos dey are dstv properties & u av 2 pay & subscribe 4 dem. U'll nid a 60cm dis 2 track dis. Note dat in FTA, its not easy 2 get all what u nid @ 1 satellite position cos freebies dnt come easy. Dats y most pple with FTA usually av more dan 1 dish. oda sats u can lock on to are sirius 4@ 4deg east, ew3A@7deg east. So d more ur dish, d more free stations u get. Welcome to FTA. Well to start wit, congrats on your new 4669z receiver. Dats a real FTA instrument u've got if u knw how to use it. Now about east or west matter, u av to find a point @ your place with clear line of sight to east just as my chairman in FTA oga freshp has adviced. Dere's got 2 b 1, & perhaps, where u tink east is @ your place mite nt actually b where it is,, like av alwaz said dat d easiest to knw where east is is by noticing d direction d sun rises in your area. So after getting a clear line of site 2 east, i tink best bet 4 u to track now is multi tv @ astra 2b. To do dis, u av to bring out your receiver & tv, plug dem, attach your dish to d pole(& lossen d bolts so dat u can swing it left & rite & also up & down), place your lnb @ d focal point of d dish, den conect lnb to receiver tru coaxial cable & d f connectors. Go to installation menu on your receiver & select manual scan, scrol 2 astra 2b satellite, under d list of tp on astra 2 b, luk 4 12551v(it used 2 b no 77 on 4669x). Make sure your signal level is up to 90 & above, anytin nt up to dat mite mean receiver & lnb are nt well connected. Den u start trackin making your dish to face arund where d sun rises, also notice d elevation of d 2nd dish(right dish) in d picture i uploaded above, study d pics very well, dats d position of astra 2b. Move your dish slowly while kipin your eye on d tv 2 take note of d signal quality wen it turns green. Do this until both d signal level & signal quality turns to green. Try to aim 4 d highest signal quality. Wen u hit green bolt your dish in place in dat positin. Press ok button to scan out d stations & dere u are. To affix f connectors 2 d cable, peels of some peice of d black insulation coverin d cable & also d white plastic coverin d copper wire. Leave d aluminium sheet & wires. Den insert d f connetor 2 d wire. Refer 2 pics 4 more detais.Tracking requires patience man.gud luck & happy hunting. Gv d house your feedbak.

also make sure u input d correct multi tv tp(i hope u knw how to input/select TPs in your receiver) which is 12551v somthing, av forgotten the sr. it is in your decoder, check for it in the list of TPs under astra 2b in your decoder. So that u wont be searching with a wrong TP there by lookin for whats not there. I wish u gud luck 1ce again. Dont gv up easily. dis is your real first test in d world of FTA. Gv d house your feedbak.

Guy no b so, to start with,multi tv is on astra 28 @ 28 ded east. Now remember d old say dat sun rises in d east, dat mean ur dish wuld b facing arund where d sun is risin. Now usin my tv as a refecence, after hitin my tv, input multi tv tp and standind @ d bak of ur dish, raise ur dish up and move it to d right as wel as kipin an eye on ur receiver u shuld hit green, i wuld try 2 upload a pic dat wil help u, its a pic of both 2 dishes locked on to mytv & astra 2b. The 1 on d left mytv. Wen movin ur dish, move little by little pausin @ each position a little to allow for d receiver to register d signal quality & display it, or else, u might just pass by the exact point without the receiver tellin u. Gud luck.

this is an interestin connection, though i hav'nt tried this before, i believe it shuld work. if its successful, u shuld get d stations on both the two satellites on the new decoder. Try it and give the house feedback. Dats d spirit of FTA. Goodluck man.

its normal, there is no cause for alarm. It is becos the stb is for africa mytv, u can leave it like that. If u really nid the formal startup page, revert back to previous software. And stop posting questions in uppercase, its against the rules. Viva fta.

for we formular 1 fans out there. You can watch the singapore grand prix on joysports multitv. The qualifiers on saturday 5pm and the grand prix itself on sunday 5pm also(all in nigerian time).

here are the steps, Menu > usb > data trasfer > then locate your .stb file and click on it. Note that if the file is .zip or .rar u have to unzip it. Good luck

Thanks for your prompt reply. But its only the restart of the receiver i want to clarify now. After the update is done, will it restart itself or i have to do it using the button at the back by putting it off and then on. I dont want to fry my receiver.Thanks for your help,

Hi there. i plan to upgrade my 4669x tomorrow. i av the stb file in my flash already. can somebody pls tell me where i'll carry out the upgrades under the menu after i have inserted the flash in the receiver. Is it under menu>system settings>data transfer or menu>usb>data transfer. also after finishing the upgrade, will the receiver restart itself or i'll have to do it by putting the button at the back off and then on. Please help me as am doing this for the first time. i want to use this to gain experience and i also want to enjoy the picture in picture function. thanks.

all dis new sats are just dissapointin. Luk @ nilesat 201 wit its beautiful footprint yet, notin 2 show 4 it wif an almost untrackable signal, intelsat new dawn full of rubbish upon the whole advertisment made by d company b4 its launch, i just pray all this new ones favovour us. GOD of FTA have mercy ooo.

greetings to the gurus, my questions still abond with the rs232 cable.
this is the particular write up i was talkin about:

Go to the guys selling computer parts. Buy an  rs 232 cable (as shown in Diagram 1). You can take the picture along with you for them to understand.  Both ends of the cable should be FEMALES(WITH HOLES) See attached diagram.  The connections will be

pin 2-----------------------------------pin 3
pin 3-----------------------------------pin 2
pin 5-----------------------------------pin 5

Though it may be difficult for you to physically know what connects to what, i will give you my own style.

Take a cutter (or knife, pliers)  and cut your cable into 2 at the midpoint (middle), you will find 9 coloured cables including a unclothed one.  You will only need the Green, Orange, Red and the unclothed cable. Connects it  like this at both ends.

END 1                                              END 2

Red          ------> connects to   <----------- Orange
Orange        ------> connects to   <-----------  Red
Green      -----> connects to   <----------- Green
unclothed wire ------> connects to   <----------- unclothed wire

If you connect it well, then you are good to go. (make sure you cover the connected ends with cello tape before you destroy your decoder oooo)


SO the cause of my question i highlighted in bold.
after cutting connecting, the cable will have 2 female ends which means that there must be two male ports for the cable to fit in during connection of the receiver to cable( 1 male port on receiver and 1 male port on the computer), my 4669x have a male port for connecting  but unfortunately, the two laptops at my end here have a female outlet ( as in the attached diagram )   so my rs232 cable wont fit in. also worthy of note is also the fact that the laptop's female port has 15 holes contrary to the 9 holes of the cable so am confused how i will connect it to the pc

can somebody pls shed some light on this or am i missing something?

90 cm is good for the job,
180cm is better,
anything above that is awesome (but not necessary).
anything below that is possible( but it wont be stable).

in short , use 90cm
