morikee: Starlink push one update it reduces power consumption by up to 20% so i dey see peak of 45W and average 35W Don't follow what you see from the app. That likely just shows the wattage the dish is drawing without the router. Real life test with a meter shows 65-100w |

UtchayPro: Hi everyone, please I need suggestions on the best solar solution to go for. The main things I want to power are the starlink mini, my laptop (hp probook 640g2) and my phones. I am going to be in a location where power supply is almost non existent, so I need a good source of power supply to work at least.
I wanted to go for the Lumos L1, but they are only doing complete sale these days (no more instalments).Plus I would like to know how people that have used it like it before I commit to it.
I just need a solar panel + battery combo system that works and the battery can last overnight at least. Main things to power are the starlink mini, laptop and about 2 phones. I will appreciate some suggestions.
Thank you so much. That lumous won't help you. It only works with load less than 50w. Your starlink alone is more than that. Get yourself a million and get a 12v lithium system. Money will you give a lasting solution you'll use for over 15yrs. 12v lithium battery of 4kw - 550k (or far less) 12v hybrid inverter - 280k 2 panels 500-600w - 220k As long as its just starlink and laptop this is overkill for you. Don't do add your hairdryer one day oh. It's 12v. Will use high amps for huge loads. |

UtchayPro: Thank you so so much. Apparently I am understanding now that it might have happened because I now look very different from that picture in my NIN that was captured about 10 years ago because I have added some weight and also have some acne scars. So they said the solution is to update my recent picture with NIN, so I am in the process of doing that, then I will try the starlink verification again. I appreciate that you responded. Thank you so much. Very sorry... Hope it will be positive at the end. 🙏🏾 |

UtchayPro: Hi everyone, please I need your advice/suggestions.
I ordered Starlink mini from the official website and was required to input my NIN to complete the registration before it can be shipped. Everytime I put in the required details (NIN and live picture), I get the feedback that my live picture does not match the details they have in their records. They also said I should take a picture in a place with good lighting and white background. I have taken numerous pictures in places with very good lighting and background, and none have been accepted. They have even temporarily barred me from attempting to upload any more images. I have downloaded the NIMC app to verify my NIN number, and everything looked fine there.
I'm so confused. What else can I do? I'm not in Nigeria at the moment but I know it's not supposed to affect anything. Or has anything changed with NIN recently? If anyone has experienced something similar, please share and let me know how you solved it. Since you last did your NIN has anyone poured you acid on your face to disfigure it and now your present face doesn't align with pics on record? 🏃🏿♂️💨💨💨💨💨 |

chizzy86: Thanks everyone for the response, which box do you recommend that can wirelessly connect to my Starlink mini without having to get the ethernet cable. We live in a bungalow so I doubt we would be needing a router. My Starlink won't come with the Ethernet cable but I thought Airtel would work so I thought of buying the cable.
Also, if it's a must that I have to use a router, must I get Starlink's Ethernet cable? Whether you want to expand it wirelessly or via the Ethernet cable, you will need a router. For wireless, a router that can connect to it wirelessly and expand. Some non-router devices can still be used. I recommend the archer c6 or c80 (costlier) using the WDS function. You can use those cheap wireless extenders too and may still serve you perfectly. For the Ethernet own, compulsorily you'll get a router to transform the Ethernet cable into Wi-Fi, except you are plugging the cable straight into a home device for Internet consumption, then you won't need router |

senator282: Greetings to you boss. I want to ask you something If you are using enterprise grade outdoor access point. Do you use dual band for business(clients) Like do you broadcast 2 SSID for subscribers (one 2.4ghz and one 5ghz) or you use one SSID (with dual band 2.4ghz and 5ghz combined in one SSID name).
I don't know if you understand my point Which do you think it's better? I do understand. I set each ssd to work on all bands, so phones connect to the best one they can connect to. Some Clients use very old phones. I've like 3 ssid, one with portal so that clients have to get a voucher before they can access. One with no portal for phones that won't allow portal but I've to get their phone mac address and white list it and they connect. All of this is so that even if they share the password, they can't connect since both systems white list with mac address. |

georgee: Starlink forbids one to give it out. It's there in there terms and conditions. If starlink gives you a new Kit, your account is still on the old Kit. Infact, both can work side by side. I tried it . But it pains me that i am unable to sell my old Gen2 Kit to a willing buyer. I have full Gen2 Kit and ethernet adapter sef, all just lying fallow. That's over 500K worth of cash lying idle . Maybe @dustmalik can shed more light Woooow! That's a loophole you just revealed. Both the old and the replacement will still work with one single account payment It will surprise me if starlink let's this happen permanently for these replacement cases. Starlink once sent me a replacement router and I'm still using the old router because i repaired the power problem that spoiled in it before that warranted a replacement. I'm using the new one as Mesh to extend network around house. But routers are different from dish. The dish is where the account is linked and not the router |

RaptorX: I am sure he has a couple of millions of dollars in a bank account for those kind of purchases without using credit, my point is billionaires on that Musk, Bezos etc level don't keep too much cash around because they see it as something that doesn't make good financial sense to do that. And i wasn't referring to physical cash. I said liquid cash which can be physical or electronic. Why will i think he'll keep 20 billion physical cash in a bunker in his house? So we saying same thing but didn't understand each other |
Business › Re: Elon Musk Crosses $600bn Net Worth by ask4bk(m): 7:18pm On Dec 16, 2025 |
RaptorX: Elon Musk and people like him can borrow billions of dollars using his stocks and shares as collateral if needed, so what does he need to be stacking physical cash in a bank for. This kind of comment always comes up and I have seen a couple already anytime there is a story like this because our idea of wealth in this part of the world comes from stacking physical cash under your bed or in a GP tank or bank vault.
Nobody becomes a $billionare by storing up paper money. Someone that can borrow $44 billion to buy Twitter and people here not you will be saying his wealth is not real because it's not cash in a bank vault lol, people don't understand how wealth works at that level. You are speaking like you have sense and I agree with you boss. That doesn't invalidate what i said. It simply means, how much can he touch right now on his own and buy something without credits or loan. That accessible money he can touch now or any time is what I'm talking about. If he wants to buy a new phone, there's an accessible fund he can take money from and get a phone without credit or loan. That cash is what we talking about. For the rest you said, yes we know how it works. |

QuinQ: Nothing like overblown because the BANKS will be willing to lend him more than this his networth in CASH!
You are all Ignorant of how these things work (which is why you're nor rich! ) How can Musk have $20 billion in cash?! He likely doesn't have ANY cash. Everything he buys is on credit. Rich folks have credit cards, or borrow from the banks when they need large amounts. Everything is on credit! Thanks oo. Starlink gen 3 make sense, just that one has to source for the mount from temu or Aliexpress unlike the gen 2 that has everything in the box from factory. If your gen 2 is still working perfectly, I see no reason in wanting to get the gen 3. Not in a rush. I've gen 2 and 2 extra routers making it 3 routers. So even if one spoils it'll be replaced except the main dish spoils. I get 300-460+mpbs and very ok with it. I was only curious how people got their free replacement |

dustmalik: Starlink now uses Grok as a first line of support. If it's able to understand your query or issue, it automatically provides a solution. It can actually decide to ship a kit if it believes that's the solution to your problem. Sometimes, the human support members intervene if there's a need to. Wow! That's great oh |
