Its not a new thing . Okonjo Iweala initiated this through UNCTAD thereby making it simple to pay customs duty and she blocked all avenues of leakages but those in system frustrate most of the things that can accelerate development.

If sincerity and transparency can be the Hallmark of any administration we won't be where we are today .

What exactly do you want to monitor ?

When the vessel discharges?

No platform . Or you simply go to sallaum schedule which shows vessel expected and vessels that has berthed.

If it's just any vessel just put the name of vessel on Google and it gives something you can work with

If these thefts persist at Grimaldi it means something is wrong somewhere., Because Grimaldi is reputable and has good security surveillance.
Most of the theft is always at cotonou.
Vessels on their water for a long time gives room for their thieves to prey on vehicles at random.

The best one can do is to ensure that your agent liase with a security guard by giving chasis number of the vehicle to keep watch as soon as vessel discharged.

What I am trying to point out is that the agent ought have carried him along depending on what they both agreed on .in this case the importer was not aware about the whole charade .

From what you said it seems you didn't consent to it . Your best bet is to jack it up to what is supposed to be given by the customs so you will be at peace . The agent played on your intelligence , though short payment is really going on well now but those that travel outside Lagos may not be comfortable .

Did you agree with the agent to do a short payment for you ? If you did not consent to that is not good on the part of the agent.

Try to jack up the duty value for you not to be harassed by customs.

It's very true theft is rampant at cotonou.

Out of 10 keyless they will steal right and still come to sell it at Ladipo .

All these theft can only stop if there is fuel station at our terminal to give fuel to vessels .

The more reason the thieves have so much time to prey on the vehicles .

Current exchange rate is not sustainable in the long run whereby forex rate is about 20% higher than official rate.
