Frankly, I have no issue with you and I let go of many jobs myself when I am sure I can't work with it so the idea of not able to play on a level playing field is very much out of it.
I saw a quote of N950,000 when I am sure total "Save" duty payable on the said vehicle is in the region of N898,000 for a surface duty of N650,000. The said amount does not include what would have been used to get the valuation, capturing, releasing, gate signing, agency signing, shipping and terminal charges in addition to many unreceipted expenses included in the running cost.




Sadly, the only way you can make any profit on the N950,000 billing for the 2010 RX350 is only if you cut corners to get the vehicle cleared but trust me the owner of the vehicle won't be able to easily cut the same corner to get his vehicle from Lagos to Port Harcourt without parting with thousands of Naira in bribe in addition to endless delays.
All I am saying is if we are very sure of our selves then we should be able to give our Nairaland clients a minimum of an electronic agreement stating we would deliver on what we have been paid to do or refund in full in an event we can no longer work with what we billed. Lobatan.

At the same time , I really do avoid cutting corners which won't result to blocking of alert and all stuff . Let me shock you I cleared a Corolla 2010l ast year with a surface duty 300 and it was meant to be driven to Jos . I slept without blinking that I cleared a car of such , two weeks after another client gave me 2010 corolla and he insisted that I should pay the actual surface duty which was 600k and I did . After I got the assessment I sent to me and he paid it himself . Alas, after clearance of the vehicle from port , the driver was on his way to same Jos to deliver and he did woke me at the middle of the night that customs stopped him that I didn't pay actual duty . I asked him please let me talk to the officer that stopped you and the officer said oga 'agent the way you were able to get the car out of the port you have to do same here. . Well , I told the driver if you have to settle them please do . I did my own part that I followed the instruction of my client and the car was still stop

That is a surface of 600k on Corolla as at last year.

Basically, overzealousness on their part.

I paid a duty of 136Milliion on a consignment they still query . I gave them a good fight and DN was lifted .

One should not because of patronage lure patronage with impossible quotes.
Nairalanders should make sure a tentative agreement is reached with any clearing agent they decide to use for the clearing of their consignment.
Be it Via email, Whatsapp, physically or text message. Make sure the clearing agent agrees that he/she won't come back with the story of more funding. If he/she can't work with what he quoted and was duly paid then he/she should be able to fully refund paid sum with tales of I have spent this on this or that.

I stand to be corrected that due diligence are always done to ensure that any quotes given is not a cloak for fraud in order to lure customers or to gain undue advantage thereof by asking for more funds . Hence , quotes are given based on template pricing of imported vehicles by the Nigeria Customs Service .

Whatever is my portion of profit on any job given is ok.

Aside, look at the rainfall of two days ago and it has wrecked havoc on our road , you craters there and there.
