Contrary to your comment most international carriers want to operate into Nigeria. Nigerian route is very profitable as we pay a lot to travel compared to other African countries. This is partly because we have no flag/national carrier and thus almost every foreign carrier operates as a monopoly on the Nigerian route as the BASA’s with Nigeria are one sided .
I get the picture and i understand what you're saying.

Was the topic about brutality?
Let's be reasonable? Lol. After insulting me, lets be reasonable?!
When someone doesn't say what you like, you tag the person as working for the government.
I'm very sure you will as well make it a tribal issue.
Your problem plenty. Be mature next time when presenting an argument. Don't start by throwing insult's like an uncultured child.

Akudaisi:
now let's be reasonable for once, how can you say we should take this pandemic serious when there is no pandemic here in the first place
Wow. First of covid is real. And when i said pandemic, i meant what's happening all over the world and not just Nigeria. So unfortunate hate has made you unintelligent.

Akudaisi:
once you acknowledge the fact that the pandemic is not our problem the better for the masses unless you are benefiting from the livescores released by NCDC you could be one of them, get sense
Nigeria has many problems and covid is not just a Nigerian problem but a world problem... You could see the effect of covid and there isn't a country that hasn't been affected directly or indirectly. Learn how to argue intelligently without insults!

I chose to respond to the topic as it was and not what wasn't relevant to this topic.
Whether ncdc releases fake figures or not is irrelevant to this topic!

Nigerians should start taking this pandemic seriously.

Air peace should be able to do rapid testing, the only problem would be increased travel fees for the passengers. But i guess its kinda like a blessing for Air peace, giving that most international airlines will not want to fly Nigerians, leaving them with no option but to fly air peace.

How he was allowed to get on that plane without getting his test results is baffling.

Science/Technology / Telegram Now Lets You Import Your Whatsapp Chats by Asura: 5:03pm On Jan 29, 2021
Whatsapp users who are moving to Telegram can now bring their chat history – including videos and documents – to the new platform.

Published on January 29, 2021 By Janet John

Telegram is introducing the ability to import your chat history from other apps including WhatsApp. This means that you won’t lose past conversations from your Whatsapp.

Over 100 million users have joined Telegram in January since Whatsapp made an update to its privacy policy.

With this new feature, everyone can bring their chat history from both individual chats and groups – including videos and documents – to Telegram from WhatsApp.

By Clever Advertising
This feature is available on both Android and IOS. You can import your chats as long as you have an account on both WhatsApp and Telegram.

For users jumping ship from WhatsApp to Telegram, being able to take their chat histories with them means one fewer barrier to switching.

How to move your chat from Whatsapp to Telegram
To move a chat from WhatsApp on iOS, open the Contact Info or Group Info page in WhatsApp, then tap Export Chat, then choose Telegram in the Share menu.

Meanwhile, on Android, to export chats on WhatsApp, on mobile, click on the three dots at the top right of a chat (for both individual and group), tap ‘More’, then ‘Export chat’, and follow the prompt to choose the destination.

This feature allows you to send all conversations in the chat with or without media.

Any messages imported into chats have a small “Imported” label on them noting when they were originally sent, and when they were brought into Telegram, and messages are visible to all chat participants.

Imported messages appear in the order in which they are imported, rather than in the order they were originally sent.

Business / With Cbn’s Intervention, Discos’ Revenue Collection In Steady Rise by Asura: 12:22pm On Jan 18, 2021
Emmanuel Addeh in Abuja

The directive by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to Nigeria’s deposit banks to take over the collection of revenues from the power Distribution Companies (Discos) has begun to yield positive results, THISDAY checks revealed at the weekend.

The Discos posted a record N44.5 billion revenue collection in September 2020, the highest ever recorded by the power distributors, a month after the apex bank gave the directive, it was learnt.

Before the September record, in August 2020, the month the order was given, data released by the Discos in its third-quarter summary of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), indicated that another record was posted, with the collection of just a little less than N44 billion, another record before September.

Last year, the circular signed by the CBN’s Director of Banking Supervision, Mr. Bello Hassan, stated that all electricity collections for services provided by Discos should henceforth be domiciled in deposit money banks.

“All energy and non-energy collections of Discos, whether cash or cashless shall only be performed by deposit money banks (DMBs),” the apex bank stated.

But while the argument was that the Discos were under-remitting, the Discos maintained that the invoices received from Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) for electricity supplied do not account for losses in transmission and were, therefore, taking that into consideration before remitting any funds.

With the action, the CBN hoped that that guarantor banks will take up continuous due diligence on the Discos they have guaranteed and give the monetary authority full visibility of the cash flow in the electricity supply industry.

The CBN said in the directive: “The payment or settlement of all NESI related goods or services shall be made through the Nigerian banking system. Consequently, all collections for the payments of NESI regulated goods and services provided by a Disco shall be paid into a designated account.

“This should be done such that collections arising from services rendered by the Disco shall be paid into an account in the sole name of the Disco; collections arising from services rendered by a third party/parties on behalf of the Disco shall be paid into an account in the joint name of the Disco and the third-party vendor(s).

“Any DMB found to be maintaining any account(s) for any entity collecting payments on behalf of any Disco without appropriate authorisation shall have regulatory actions imposed on it.”

Historical figures released by the Discos through their umbrella body, the Association of Electricity Distribution Companies (ANED), showed that in September 2016, the Discos only posted just over N25 billion, in September 2017, they recorded about N28 billion, the same period of 2018 was about N33 billion while for 2019, it was less than N36 billion.

While energy bill in the 12 months preceding September 2020 was N690 billion, the actual collection stood at N483 billion, with an outstanding N207 billion still being owed by various end-user customers.

Data from ANED showed that in all, the Discos posted N483 billion revenue between October 2019 and September 2020, an N17 billion increase in collection compared to the previous 12 months.

The average collection efficiency also rose to a record 76.28 per cent, for the Discos, including Ikeja, Eko, Abuja, Jos, Enugu, Benin, Kaduna, Kano, Ibadan and Port Harcourt.

The Discos, however, noted that the overall Aggregate Technical and Commercial (ATC&C) losses moving average kept increasing smoothly since February 2020 from 43.3 per cent to 46.1 per cent due to the collection crisis caused by the COVID-19 lockdown.

They noted: “The Discos are back on track on their performance improvement after the fall due to the pandemic. Indeed, in September 2020, Discos’ collection reached a new record of N44.5 billion.

“In annual terms, the Discos’ revenue collection in the last 12 months (October 2019 to September 2020) reached a new record of N483 billion, which represents an increment of N17 billion versus the previous 12 months (+3.6 per cent increment).

“Also, in Q3 2020, the collection efficiency rose to 76.28 per cent. Due to the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular during the Q2 2020, the ATC&C loss KPI (moving average) kept increasing and is now at 46. 1 per cent,” the Discos noted.

However, the electricity distributors expressed concerns that since 2015, there had been no significant improvement in the power generated and wheeled by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

According to the association, the number of registered end-users had continued to increase, currently at a rate of about 75, 000 new customers per month (+10 per cent in 2019, resulting in more than 9.7 million customers in total.

“In quarter three, the number of registered customers among the 10 private Discos passed the 9.7 million-point. However, many of them are being connected without meters and, therefore, the metering gap is close to 60 per cent, becoming one of the major challenges for Discos,” the Discos said.

Politics / Amaechi Tags Baro, Other River Ports ‘waste Of Public Funds’ by Asura: 8:09am On Jan 16, 2021
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that the construction of river ports across the country is a waste of public funds as they are not viable projects.

Amaechi stated this on a television programme monitored by SHIPS & PORTS on Tuesday while answering question on why the multibillion naira Baro river port is yet to commence operation two years after its commissioning by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Minister said if the lower River Niger is not dredged, no vessel would be able to sail to Baro port.

He said, “I had this conversation with my friend, Senator Goje about the viability of the river ports that we have including Onitsha, Baro, Lokoja and Oguta river ports and I felt that it was a waste of funds.

“The reason is that for you to have those river ports functional, you must have to dredge River Niger. For now, even if you dredge, it is still 2.5 to 3 metre draft, which determines the vessel that can go there and the minimum you can have is a six-metre vessel. There is absolutely no vessel that will come in there at 2.5 to 3 metres draft.

“The idea when the Baro port was concessioned is that you pick up a cargo maybe in Warri or Port Harcourt because Lagos is too far, and put it on a barge and move it to Baro. But how many times will the barge be able to move those cargoes to Baro?

“For the man who imports through Lagos or Port Harcourt, if he puts it on a train, he arrives the same day, and there is no issue of insecurity unlike the man who has taken the cargo from Port Harcourt seaport to Baro by barge.

“They wanted the port constructed, so we completed it. My responsibility is to construct a Baro port and I have constructed it. As Minister, I did engage the public that these are the problems we will face when we finish this Baro port. First Nigeria does not produce anything in the first place so what are you going to transport? If we make the Apapa seaport very efficient, then we don’t even have enough cargo.”

The Baro river port, which was built by the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) at the princely sum of N5.8 billion, was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2019.

The President had during the commissioning said that the inland port would enhance intermodal transportation connectivity in the country, reduce pressure from big trucks off the road and create “huge employment opportunities for Nigerians, while also decongesting other busy ports”.

However, despite the economic benefits taunted by the government, port has remained dormant since commissioning.
