afroniger: The dont have needed papers to stay if not schooling, likely have no marketable skills there for a skilled visa and if its Northern cyprus they are in, it is probably harder because it is outside the EU and they will be stuck there. The country is a den of yahoo boys though, so they may go that way. I don't blame them though, Nigeria was probably hell for them. Even the way they look now, it's not hard to understand they never want to set foot in Nigeria 4 Likes |

Mindlog: I dont think there is any average place on the mainland where you will get a 1 bedroom flat of less than 500k-600K. Gbagada, Ketu, Akoka, Mushin, Surulere , Gbagada...you will likely not find, particularly not one with parking space and safe. Except you want him to move to Ikorodu or some other distant location. If he is married and needs a 2 bedroom apartment , then definitely its atleast N1M in those places for a decent one 3 Likes |

CheerfulGiver: I am not sure where you get your stats from, but driving your car is likely much cheaper than uber. I recall I used to buy 5k fuel for my corolla some years back to commute to the Island and it last 1 week. At same time a trip to the Island during morning surge was about 2-2.5k. So I could in theory make my fuel money by carrying a passenger to the Island in the morning and at night when coming back. At some point in time, I did the morning one and so riders will pay for the fuel after just 2-3 days of a single morning trip to the Island. So what you should be concerned is that many car owner will start doing commercial with their cars instead of driving empty to the Island. This is also bad for those doing uber business because they will take lower, all they need is to cover their fuel cost and still provide similar comfort. 5 Likes |

CheerfulGiver: If their customers are not willing to pay significantly more, they will also have to make adjustments same way regular worker do. A sharp increase in price will make uber a luxury for many, they cannot give you what they don't have. 7 Likes |

There is something called elasticity of demand. If the price increases by 300%, don't assume demand will keep steady, How many Nigerians, even those working on the Island earn 200K and how many will their employers provide a cost of living adjustment to? Someone earning 200-300K a month, how many times will they be able to afford uber from the mainland to the Island at the expected fare. Don't assume you'll make more money. An outright 300% hike in an economy where almost everyone uses petrol for something will push many middle class people into poverty which is bad for your business I believe. Probably good new for the danfo guys because they are at the extreme bottom and anybody that wants to commute cannot escape them except you decide to trek or cancel your trip. The only person that gains here are the ride companies themselves, each time the fare is raised, they get an increase in revenue without suffering the cost increase because they have no asset in the business. The cost of setting up the app is largely a sunk cost, they are only exposed a little to the fuel hike. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Our culture is one that promotes people being flashy, so many Nigerians don't know how to maintain decorum. Tamiyu was just the unfortunate one to display his own on the largest network in the UK, giving others a bad reputation but I don't think we are inherently bad people. Nigerians are a very helpful lot if you are being reasonable too. Indians & Chinese travel in greater numbers but don't make so much noise. Indias in particular not only migrate the immediate family, most migrate also their extended family. Nigerians are learning where they are but they are quiet about such things. 1 Like |

samuel321: I guess you are applying from Nigeria. I don't think getting a job in the UK should be this hard. If it's from outside the UK, naturally many companies will consider people in the UK first for any job before undertaking to sponsor someone from Nigeria. Also, there are probably also a lot of people making from outside the country also. |

So Promassidor ng can't just take a song n use in their advert And a night club may be sued for using Nathaniel Bassey's song because such song may miscontrue the public perception of the song affecting the artistic intention of the singer thereby causing him commercial losses ...but that is in a country where laws count. ...strong protection of IP is a key foundation for building an innovation-driven society, Nigeria cannot continue to ignore it if the leaders truly want the country to mive forward |

Politics / 2023 Presidential Election - The South Has Long Been Betrayed By Its Politicians by Atk1nson(m): 6:45am On Jun 04, 2022 |
It's a shame, that southern politicians have taken to seeing their northern counterparts as gods. They throw shame, their honour and integrity out of the window if it will secure them favour in the north. From the so called "BAT" who licked Buhari's arse, even when he could clearly see after 4 years that Buhari was not deserving of a 2nd term based on his performance. Also quick to run to the north to donate millions and commiserate with them when required but couldn't find his way to even nearby Oyo to commiserate with them when the herdsmen conflict made hundreds homeless. It was a thug Sunday Igboho, the risked his safety to fight for them. Thankfully Oyo is now peaceful. to the yahoo pastor "Osibanjo" who sat and conferred with Buhari to unleash some of the most disastrous policies this country has seen, sending many to poverty, massive skilled labour migration and massive insecurity. He was the one that was sent to buy votes using N5,000 (https://guardian.ng/news/osinbajo-debunks-claim-tradermoni-is-used-for-vote-buying/), when it was clear buhari's disastrous 1st term would not earn him a second term base on merit.....if you doubt it was vote buying , let Osibanjo present the amount of loan collected back or even any decent effort made to collect it , if that was at all the true intention (https://businessday.ng/news/article/fg-cant-recover-n10bn-tradermoni-but-to-begin-2nd-tranche-disbursement-farouq/) The likes of Amechi, Okorocha and career opportuntist, I wont waste my time explaining they are traitors to their people. They say one thing at the back but as the 2 above, lack the courage to stand on it (https://punchng.com/amaechi-criticises-buhari-in-leaked-audio/) For all the noise made about the population and the concentration of its political and military might there, money is what runs the economy and the south brings that to the table (>80% of all revenues and >95% of foreign earnings). No military or political forces from beyond can keep that money on the table if the politicians in the south do not agree to it. The south remains the heart of nigeria's industrial capacity, with a high concentration of skilled labour and disaporans whose skilled would be available None of Nigeria's significant event would have happen without some significant consent from the south: - the civil war would not have been won if it was left to the north alone -as BAT alluded, even Buhari would not have won if it was left to the North alone. This is true for every election (Wike generating over a million vote for Jonathan's failed attempt (hook or crook) shows the south can also generate these sometimes outrightly bogus numbers (>95% for Jonathan). These miracles cannot only happen in Kano. - the only reason nigeria actually exists as a political right now is the funds to keep sharing have been steady even when the north who claim to hold the political aces have not brought much to the table. See Wike as an example: (https://www.today.ng/news/politics/rivers-governor-slams-critics-vat-collection-dispute-389601) Result: https://punchng.com/vat-row-fg-eyes-out-of-court-settlement/ If 1/2 of the south's political elites put their people first the way Wike has done, the South would not be playing second fiddle to the North. If most politicians put their people first the way Wike has done, the south would have been the power bastion it naturally is. Unfortunately, we have weak and treacherous leaders who betray their people to get power by any means I have no sympathy for BAT or which even token southern politician is used to balance the equation nd be a placeholder for the north who would still control power from behind the scenes. The only victims here are the people of the south who have been failed time and time again by their leaders
