PoliticsRe: The MINT Countries: Nigeria Amongst The Next Economic Giants? by atlwireles: 7:20pm On Jan 06, 2014
Omo_Tier1: It is really a no brainer that Nigeria is capable of growing in double digits for the next decade with real development that would affect the lives of the ordinary Nigerians.

The potentials abound, in people, natural resources, and market. However, with a LOOTOCRAT like GEJ in power, it will be a long pipe dream for Nigeria and Nigerians to attain her rightful place development wise.
You have started with your noise again. Why has Nigeria missed your so called double digit growth beforehuh The LOOTOCRATS have a new home to perfect their take over plans. Just ask your APC bedfellows, how man billions they looted in the last 53 years.

Donmams: How is it possible for GEJ to win an election with only the votes of the SS/SE(15million) alone? The north west, will wipe those votes with plenty of change to spare. GEJ is finished. His days in Aso Rock are numbered.
You will find out, how things are possible in Nigeria come 2015. Just watch and learn.
PoliticsRe: The MINT Countries: Nigeria Amongst The Next Economic Giants? by atlwireles: 7:14pm On Jan 06, 2014
Omo_Tier1: One reason We need to get rid of GEJ come 2015! Nigeria cannot afford to be left behind. We missed out on the BRICS, now there is the oppourtunity to join the MINT, if not nah TOM TOM we go later join huh
You were never considered as a BRICS Nation in 2001. You cannot miss out of something, you had no chance getting into. Why is Nigeria considered as a MINT NATION today, If not for the economic performance under Jonah.

You are the one challenging the unity of the country. When Inec announces Jonah as the winner in 2015, guess who be will be cryinghuh They are the ones that will be destroyed. As I said be before, you will do all the voting and we will count and announce the results.

At OP, add your millions and billions of votes in the SW and Northern Nigeria together.Understand one simple fact, One Nigeria is begging for Jonah's victory. That's the price you will, and must pay for one Nigeria. After you and your brothers of hate and bitterness are done voting.PDP will count the votes and Jonah will be returned to office. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
PoliticsFear Grips PDP Senators Over Planned Defection by atlwireles(op): 5:38am On Jan 06, 2014
http://www.tribune.com.ng/

PALPABLE fear appeared to have gripped aggrieved senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had planned to follow the footsteps of their colleagues in the lower chamber by defecting to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), sources in the Senate have confirmed.

The aggrieved senators had, at the height of the crisis rocking the party, announced that 22 of them were set to defect to the APC, in a bid they believed could turn the tide in the upper chamber.

Though the aggrieved lawmakers had gone to court with 22 names, 12 of the listed names had disowned the suit seeking to stop PDP and the Senate from declaring their seats vacant.

It was learnt that the development had thrown spanners into the works of the aggrieved senators, who had wanted to announce their defection alongside that of the members of the House of Representatives.

It was gathered that the senators bent on defecting were now 10 in number and if they so declared, the leadership of PDP and the Senate would go ahead to declare their seats vacant.

“There is apprehension among the senators planning to defect as of now. They are afraid that immediately they announce their defection, the Senate would just declare their seats vacant, because they no longer have the number to alter the leadership structure of the Senate.

“Twelve of the names they are parading have disowned the planned defection and clearly confirmed to the Senate that they are not moving. Right now, they may be able to raise not more than 10 senators and that would mean that the leadership of the chamber remains intact.

“In that case, Senate President, David Mark, will not hesitate to declare their seats vacant, in line with the demands of the party and the law,” a source said.

The source added that the Senate would rely on legal opinion already in place to make the declaration.

It was gathered that the National Assembly would rely on concluded cases in court, which affirmed that there was no division in PDP, as well as the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which affirmed the same.

The Senate, it was also gathered, would rely on the position of the Supreme Court, which awarded the governorship seat of Rivers State to Rotimi Amaechi in 2007, based on the fact that he was the recognised candidate of the party.

“Such a ruling had affirmed that only a political party can sponsor candidates for elections and that the electorate vote for a party and its manifesto and not necessarily the candidate,” a source stated

Just thank all Southern Nigerians for having empathy on him and his ethnic groups, and the two powerhouse in the South for fighting for him to win. However, he still hasn't found his balls after ruling for more than four years. grin

One_Naira: ThisThread Just Intensified My Support Against APC To Delta. Anytime They Are Questioned, They Always Refer To This Oshiomole Character. At First I Thought The Oshiomole Guy Did Alot For Them To Keep Referencing Him As A "Performer", Now Looking At This Thread I Can't Believe The "Performer" Did Not Do As Much As The So Called "Non Performer". I Have A New Found Respect For Ughdan. I Never Knew He Did This Much To Be Honest.
I Like The Humbleness. This Is One Of The Main Reason I Respect SS Governors Despite Some Of Their Obvious Corruption. Majority Do Their Work Without The Media Hype And Propaganda. Likewise, I Noticed It Is The Same Thing With SE Governors. It Is Probably A PDP Thing Because It Looks Like Almost All Are Like that. Even When Amaechi Used To Be Part Of PDP, He Used To Be Like That. I Like The Humble Behavior. Though It Is A Good Thing In My Opinion, It Is A Disadvantage. Most People, Myself Included, Thought Ughdan Is A non-performer Due To His Lack Of Media Hype And Propaganda In Each Work He Does,ThisThread Just Proved Otherwise. I'm Flabbergasted. Thank You Everstar, Atlwirles And Co. You All Made Me More Proud Of Delta Right Now. Thank you.
Thanks, this year 2014 will even look better for the state. With Shoprite opening in Warri in july, the Warri industrial zone is on full steam, the Asaba Business center is also on overdrive. One Naria, please buy land in Asaba now, because Anambra people are driving up prices like crazy They are Coming to Asaba to build their Mansions grin grin grin grin grin.If there were no development nobody would come. A state where light, peace and government works. I will not waste my time with APC confusion. Amaechi was a great gov in Rivers till APC got to him. Now, all he does is make noise and set his own state on fire. I don't want APC anywhere close to Delta. I will advise people that dislike PDP to try LP, APC is dead on arrival.

5thNOTE: The Edo mindset i believe is more sharper in nigeria. U said its a call 4 me and u, o boy u lie. As i talk to u, there is a boy frm my community who wants to sell some innovative ideas becus there are no reasearch institute capable of proving such ideas. If i decided to make a prototype of a something, where do u think i can get parts machined, cut and reduced to size and required weight am of talking of with all machanical properties involved, where in the whole of nigeria? Innoson cars may nt even have engine mould, maybe just making parts. A country that isnt yet a master(even a novice) in metagullary and foundry aspect, it citizens have nothing to rely on or do. If i need some making to a required weight, composition, strength, alloy. length other classical issues, u mean i should go to a panelbeater to be sweating myself out with used metals scrap and torch fires e.t.c? U dont knw there are technologist and others good in ideas? So is an enabling evironment 4 creativity, if such environment is nt there somebdy will just lose his interest.
Based on the argument you made, I have to agree with your point. I remember as young secondary pupil visiting DSC Aladja in 1984. Everything you just described was on ground. Mould, Metallurgy and Foundry departments. I for one, believe the change we have sought for years in Nigeria is coming to life.If Innoson can function today in Anambra, then we are truly regaining our old abilities.. Places like DSC will be reactivated this year, after OBJ's fraud he called privatization. Places like Ajakouta steel are currently undergoing rehabilitation. Even, the manufacturing capacity in Nigeria is coming back, after years of bad news. I am actually more hopefully about this country now, than I have been in a Long time. Because things are really happening.

In Nigeria, politics is a game of resources not numbers. That is the mistake some people are making in Nigeria today.

Sincere 9gerian: Unfortunately for Nigeria, OBJ, who is now in bed with APC, could not build any in his 8 year rule. Tinubu, who is the leader of APC, ruled Lagos for 8 years but could not build any. Not even the Lagos metro rail, started by Jakande in the 80s, was touched by Tinubu.

However, GEJ is already building a brand new Abuja-Kaduna fast railway. It is over 70% completed in just 3 years.

PoliticsRe: Abuja And Lagos: Tale Of Two Cities by atlwireles: 11:41pm On Jan 04, 2014
Ikengawo: The Abuja project looks like it's grinding to an unfortunate premature halt with Lagos is taking off full force. Why?

Abuja is an artificial city. Human beings from the beginning of time have created cities for various economic reasons because a city is essentially an economic enhancement mechanism. When a city is build without an economic purpose, it becomes and artificial city. Anything you add to this corpse is essentially lipstick on something that will be soon buried. Lagos on the other hand is the exact opposite. Lagos is pure hustle, pure capitalism and pure economy. It will outlive Nigeria and host many nations to come because it serves a human demand; economic enhancement.

Abuja during El Rufai made a mistake. Because it was a 'planned city', it began weeding out the things it didn't plan for. petty traders, hustlers, unplanned housing, etc. By kicking out these nuisences, it gutted out the seeds of what could have been a real economy. In a healthy environment, every city goes through 3 phases

1. establishment- typically men live there. The people that live there as settlers seldom claim the place as 'home'. They're simplying using it's economic advantage to their benefit and in doing so set up businesses. They don't bring their families b3. ecause there's no lifestyle in the city, simply business. In this phase you see traders, working class workers establish.

2. High settlement- When the economic activities of these settlers sustains an economy there comes a flood of settlers. This is the hardest phase in a cities life to manage. The settlers are still primarily male. They come with their cultures and alliances but no or little alliance to the city it's self. They fight each other for territory and various macho pursuits. Crime is rampant because where there's a large gathering of men it's inevitable. A few women will come in to capitalize on the influx of men but they're going to FIRST be traders or prostitutes. The flooding of people overwhelms the cities facilities. Police, sanitation, government, schools etc are all overwhelmed and can't keep up with the speed of incomers. Many, because they were brought to simply work for an established relative, neglect school. Slums build up, and petty trades which in the nigerian case involve containers, slums, okadas etc come to dominate

3. Civilization- note the world civilization means to make one a member of Rome (a civil). It takes 1 generation in a mid sized city, and 2-4 generations in a mega city to reach this phase. This is when the settlers have had children and their children have gained a loyalty to the city that rivals their parents loyalty to their place of origin. Their parents themselves have been there long enough to call it home because their time there out weighs their time 'back home'. They begin demanding the things that make life comfortable and make the place 'home'. Government now has more cooperation from civilians and they thus gain the power to start taking control of the city again. Branding it, cleaning it up, and making assertive demands over the settlers to civilize. In this phase, which can last as long as it may take for the people to be comfortable, you can start kicking out the settler industries in order to make the city more livable at the expense of it's economic viability. World class brands will be attracted to the population, and will begin buying properties that will push the settlers to the edges of the city or trap them in a particular part (ghettos).
What is the point of this threadhuh

5thNOTE: if it is true then it is good. I dont knw what the kaki dressed man wants to turn edos into. He cant empower the Igbiras and other farmers who can supply D whole south with foods like yam, garri, fufu, rice and even corn and beans, groundnut(cooking and oil) and other costly soup delicacies grown in the state. Obonno(ducanut true) grows on its own in the state he cant harness it neither does he empower farms to do it. We have huge pinnapple farming prospect u can hardly grow in any other state. Cement is another source we could get income from. If he cant use Opila cement factory becus of his lame excuse he should build another state owned cement company that has high range capacity. We have the money as oil producing state for such project, his high tax and his low employment of workers is another source of income, he was put there to work.. The way he is jumping up and down in kaki wont give job, industralized state and a state to be proud of. All things he is doing in the state are what uneducated person will do in his position. No tomatoes factory, no cassava flour in the state, If there is any place cassava flour factory should be its in Edo. We are coustodians of Akpu and Eba. The guy and other have quenching our spirit thats why there is mass Italy transit even when they(italy) in recession
You can directly benefit from the state program. Just head to Otujeremi, if you are from Ughelli south council and talk with the agric extension officer. Delta state will export more cassava chips this year just as farmers did last year, Rubber tapping is become more attractive again because the buying agents are paying better prices. Hard work has always paid in delta, so nothing new.

Govt Approves N37.3Bn For Osubi Airport Upgrade

Delta State Government has approve the upgrade of the Osubi Airstrip near Warri to an International Airport.
The project is expected to cost 37.3 billion.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information Chike Ogeah (Esq), who briefed journalists at the end of the state executive meeting held in Asaba.
Ogeah said the cost includes internal works, car park, a four kilometer runway and artillery facilities.
Giving more insight into the project, the Commissioner for Works, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, said on completion, the airport would be able to accommodate large aircraft.
Responding to a question, Ogeah said there was need for a second international airport in the state, describing the initiative as convenient and wise.
He said while the Osubi Airport would serve the Warri axis which is the commercial nerve centre of the state, with oil companies located there, the Asaba Airport remained a major gateway to the Onitsha Market and five Eastern states.

One state two international airports owned by the state of delta. Edo state under GO and DIE can only lock up federal government property for tax monies grin grin grin
