PoliticsOsun Election: Jonathan, Oyinlola In Closed-door Meeting by atlwireles(op): 7:06pm On Jul 01, 2014
All I am telling is that Oyinlola in the face of the law remains the authentic secretary of the PDP.”
Perhaps buoyed by its performance in the Ekiti governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has begun moves to resolve the crisis in its Osun chapter with a view to winning the coming governorship election in the state.
As part of the strategy, President Goodluck Jonathan on ‎Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with a former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Although the agenda of the meeting was not disclosed, PREMIUM TIMES learnt that it is part of efforts by Nigeria’s ruling PDP to win the August 9 governorship election in Osun.
The PDP’s candidate in the election, Iyiola‎ Omisore, is the major challenger to the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola, of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Mr. Oyinlola was accompanied to Tuesday’s meeting by the National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Muazu.
The former governor, who was controversially removed as National Secretary of the PDP, and is challenging his removal and eventual replacement in court, is believed to wield a major influence in Osun.
Mr. Oyinlola was a member of the New PDP which was formed when some PDP governors fell out with the former party chairman, Bamanga Tukur.
When the New PDP eventually merged with the APC, Mr. Oyinlola decided to remain in the PDP but to fight for his position.
Mr. Oyinlola, a known loyalist of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, is believed to have also been courted by the incumbent Osun governor.
While addressing journalists after Tuesday’s meeting, the Okuku-born politician and retired Brigadier General would not disclose details of his discussion with Mr. Jonathan, but said he was determined to reclaim his position as National Secretary of the PDP.
‎He said anyone occupying the office of the Secretary of the PDP is a pretender.
Mr. Oyinlola had after a PDP meeting on Monday said he was a rallying point to record victory for the party during the Osun governorship election and the 2015 general election.
“I was taken to the villa by the chairman of the party PDP, and we had some discussions as to how to move the fortunes of the party forward,” he said on Tuesday.
“All I am telling is that Oyinlola in the face of the law remains the authentic secretary of the PDP. Anybody in that office for now, is a pretender.”

Did I hear the US say "Stolen" or the weapons where given to them by our intelligence. Come off that lies plz.
They stolen the sophisticated weapons from the Nigerian army, the same army these boko haram supporters claimed are carrying AK 47 from the 70s. You people need to land your lies in the right sector. Throwing the kitchen sink at the general public, with the hope of misleading us will not work.

* Initial Refusal to proscribe Bokoharam as terrorist organisation
* Stopped buying Nigeria crude oil.
* Discrediting our military and government.
* CIA spying and refusal to share military Intelligence acquired through permission from our government citing unnecessary reasons.
* Etc.

Nafeesa AA: I am a Muslim, and a Northerner.I have travelled through all areas of the north, know people of diverse ideologies! But still haven't met anyone that understands the phenomenum of Boko haram. Its unfortunate that in Nigeria, many claim to be educated but are actually illiterates. Many like you will say Buhari is behind boko haram IBB, the Northern elders are all behind boko haram etc but without actually any proof, whereas those found making incriminating comments are given a breathin space. How do we help solve the problem when everybody points accusing finger to the wrong people?

Before it was IBB, then Chiroma, then Atiku, then Buhari, Ango Ibrahim. No it was Nndume, then Babangida ALIYU, it later turn to Kwankwaso, Lamido Sanusi, then shifted to Nyako and then Shettima, now na American. Today if I am a credible opposition to GEJ I instantly become I boko haram sponsor.
Let all the citizens be wise. If any part of the country wishes to secede, it should employ a civilised and conventional means instead of cheap blackmail.

SLIDE waxie: The truth, which most haters had failed to understand is that, this is Yorubaland, no one votes for party, and no one will vote for mediocrity.
Mimiko cldnt av been defeated in Ondo state because he served them better than PDP with a
party with no much history.

People said PDP won't win a yoruba state and I knw they will win ekiti because fayemi was totally an error and a slowpoke like jonathan. No vision, no delivery.

In Ogun state, dnt dream it, ACN will win. And if Amosun decamped to PDP,PDP will win. Yorubas follow their leaders and nothing else. See how they voted PDP for presidency and ACN for govenorship in Lagos in 2011.

The truth is, PDP won't see any support for jonathan from any of the yoruba states whether u like it or not....it's a fact.
They simply won't vote for a party or for jonathan.

The only way anyone will win a yoruba state is to field a performer.

The only crime of tinubu was to think he can go against a performer. Its not here in yorubaland. We dnt even have a leader the hooligan likes of asari or massob leaders who pride themselves as igbo leaders.
No one hs raised his hands in yorubaland to claim being there leader after awolowo died. Unless they want to be left deserted.

In yorubaland, every performer will have his way with the people. That is a fact!!!
The only reason you can make this statement today and get away with it, is because your chest beating comments have been deleted from the record. The data lost has already started yielding it's desired result. Your series of comments about the death of PDP and any candidate they field in the SW is legendary here. Just as we cured your delusion in Ekiti, we will give you another shellacking in Osun, before hurricane Jonathan carries you and your confused alamajiris away in 2015.
PoliticsThe Beginning Of The End Of The Bola Tinubu Dynasty by atlwireles(op): 12:47am On Jul 01, 2014
By Femi Aribisala

KING Nebuchadnezzar gloried in his kingdom and declared: “Is this not magnificent Babylon, which I have built as a royal capital by my mighty power and for my glorious majesty?” (Daniel 4:30). While the words were still in his mouth, a voice came from heaven to inform him that the kingdom he was boasting about had been taken away from him.
Similarly, Bola Tinubu, “the Ashiwaju of Yorubaland,” surveyed his kingdom and decided to make a boastful proclamation. Speaking of himself in the third person, Tinubu declared: “Nobody, no one under the sun, under the United Nations Human Rights Charter, can stop Bola Tinubu’s ambition.” Famous last words! The voice of the electorate in the South-West has answered Tinubu. His personal ambition is certainly not in the interest of the people.

De-mystification of Tinubu
Tinubu’s claim to fame lies in the strength of his ACN party in the South-West. The only resistance was Ondo State, which was controlled by Olusegun Mimiko’s Labour party. But the assumption was that it was only a matter of time before Ondo too would succumb to the Tinubu juggernaut. However, in the 2012 gubernatorial election in Ondo, Mimiko not only prevailed once again, the ACN candidate did not even come second. He was beaten to a distant third by the PDP.
This indicated that the Yorubas were already getting fed up with Tinubu; determined that they will not be sold into his slavery. In a letter to Mimiko congratulating him on his victory, Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of the Yoruba group, Afenifere, said: “This victory, amongst other things, is victory over god-fatherism, a rejection of political imposition and slavery from outside the state.” “We entered into electoral cooperation with you (Mimiko) in the election to counter an emerging group under the leadership of few disrespectful, snobbish, arrogant, ravaging and power-thirsty politicians.”

The obvious reference here was to Bola Tinubu and his ACN colleagues. In many respects, Tinubu has become the most hated politician in the South-West. Association with him is increasingly as politically contagious as leprosy. The emerging consensus in the South-West is that Tinubu has overreached himself with his heavy-handedness. It is past time to cut him back to size. Thus, Fasoranti added to Mimiko: “There is a need for the exhibition of fair play and justice to all and carry the banner of progressive politics into national politics now that the eclipse of the ACN is unavoidable.”

Ekiti Waterloo

This prognosis has proved to be prophetic. The defeat of Tinubu’s party in Ondo has now been followed by its trouncing in the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Ekiti. Ekiti was presumed to be one of Tinubu’s South-West strongholds. The incumbent governor, Kayode Fayemi, is one of the darlings of Tinubu’s new-fangled APC. Indeed, some have been touting Fayemi as a possible APC vice-presidential candidate. However, rather than confirm that Ekiti is firmly in Tinubu’s camp, the people of Ekiti decided to send a loud and clear message to Tinubu. They no longer want to have anything to do with him and with his party.

Tinubu’s Fayemi did not only lose the Ekiti election, he lost it by a landslide. He obtained 120,000 votes to Ayo Fayose’s 203,000. Fayemi lost in every local government area of the state. Coming on the heels of its defeat in Ondo, the APC rout in Ekiti is conclusive proof that Tinubu’s fabled stranglehold on South-West politics has ended. Indeed, Tinubu is now a political liability in the South-West. Rather than bring votes to the APC in the region, he is now more than likely to lose them.

This accounts for the confused reaction of the APC to the election. Local and international observers declared it free and fair. The losing local candidates readily accepted defeat, including Fayemi, the APC candidate. But Tinubu and his APC cohorts from outside the state are challenging the defeat in a pathetic attempt to make excuses for such disgraceful trouncing in putative APC territory. Only the gullible will believe this face-saving charade.

On the contrary, a prescient observer of the APC debacle in Ekiti made this observation: “Tinubu is no Awolowo and that illusion is being put to test. He doesn’t have the gravitas of Papa Awo and in fact, many of these South-West state governors will soon discover that they are more electable without Tinubu’s name. Tinubu cost Fayemi the election and if he knows what is good he should stay in the background if Osun State (whose election is due two months hence) is not to fall in a domino.”

“Useless” Yoruba Obas

It was a long time coming, but Yorubas in general are now fed up with Bola Tinubu’s arrogance and with his determination to rule the South-West as his fiefdom. A politician is supposed to be subject to his people. However, Tinubu believes the Yorubas are subject to him. The over-bearing influence of Tinubu in Ekiti politics was one of the major issues of the campaign. The message of the electorate is that this would no longer be tolerated. This message was superbly championed by Fayose who presented himself as a man of the people, determined to stop the hemorrhage whereby Ekiti money was routinely shipped to Lagos.

A smart politician does not broadcast his contempt for his people. However, with the arrogance of power, Tinubu derided Yoruba Obas as “useless.” He declared “ex cathedra:” “The good Obas in Yorubaland who are forthright, firm and stand by the truth are not up to five, they are just three.” With these words, Tinubu drove a nail firmly into his own political coffin. While he derided Yoruba Obas as “useless,” he went up North to Kwankwaso to engineer the installation of a “useful” Emir of Kano. Therefore, the Ekiti people decided to tell Tinubu that they have no use for him and that their Obas are not useless.

The success of Fashola in transforming the face of Lagos was sold as the ACN/APC template in the South-West, and this had some traction for a while. Fayemi too presented himself as a “performing governor” with major projects right across the state. But when asked why he did not build low-cost housing in Lagos, Fashola replied contemptuously that he could not find any low-cost cement to buy. But as its defeat in Ekiti now demonstrates; the elitist high-cost APC needs low-cost voters in order to win elections. What the PDP did mischievously in Ekiti was to capitalise on the electorate’s cynical preference for pounded-yam over tarred roads.

Lessons from Obasanjo

The rejection of Bola Tinubu today in the South-West also lies in the very betrayal of his earlier success. Tinubu championed South-West resistance to Obasanjo’s determination to sacrifice Yoruba interests on the altar of a contrived alliance with the North. While that alliance clearly served Obasanjo’s interests, independent-minded South-West voters saw nothing in it for them. Foolishly, Tinubu is now presenting himself as yet another architect of the same rejected alliance with the Northern caliphate, for the sake of his own personal political ambitions.
Following the crisis that ensued after the annulment of M.K.O. Abiola’s victory in the 1993 presidential election, there emerged a general consensus that the 1999 election should be zoned to South-West Yorubas in the interest of national reconciliation. However, Northerners decided they would determine who the Yoruba candidate should be. Obasanjo was fished out of prison and anointed as PDP presidential candidate.

This Yoruba choice by Northerners was rejected by the Yorubas. Although Obasanjo went ahead to win the election nationwide, he lost woefully in the South-West. Thereafter, he was derided as a president without coattails in his own backyard. Obasanjo’s response as president was to make a play for PDP victory in the South-West in 2003 by hook or crook. Every trick in the book was employed to bring South-West states under PDP control.

Failure of success

The PDP rigged the 2003 elections masterfully and wrested back power from every ACN-controlled South-West state except Lagos. Even in Lagos, the INEC went ahead to proclaim a fictitious PDP victory on its website, before this was belatedly withdrawn with ignominy. The brilliant South-West answer to this PDP treachery was Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu drew a line in the sand, held on to Lagos, and struck back from this stronghold to win back all the lost South-West states in 2007. He won because the people of the South-West refused to mortgage their future to the political interests of Obasanjo and his allies in the North. It is therefore surprising that, with the arrogance of power, Tinubu is now following the same failed footsteps of Obasanjo.

Instead of learning from Obasanjo’s blunder, Tinubu too has now decided to unite his ethnic ACN party with the Northern caliphate. With the contempt for the people that has come with years of monarchical control over the ACN, Tinubu presumes South-West people will follow him sheepishly into this alliance with the North, just because his burning ambition to become the vice-president of Nigeria now demands it. But what this has achieved is to show that Tinubu’s ambitions are anathema to South-West interests.

Anybody who thinks Tinubu’s APC will succeed in the South-West does not understand South-West politics. The Yorubas are too proud and fiercely independent to agree to play second-fiddle to anyone because of a man called Tinubu. S.L. Akintola tried the same gambit in the 1960s, and the South-West rejected him. The same rejection has befallen Bola Tinubu.

Lagosians are disgusted that Tinubu has privatised their politics. His wife, daughter and even son-in-law have been steamrolled into vantage political positions. The state’s finances are tied to Alpha Beta. Tinubu has even gone ahead to anoint Akinwunmi Ambode as the next governor of the state without the benefit of any election. This is asking for trouble. If Tinubu is not careful, a big implosion is likely in APC Lagos State over the issue of the choice of the next governor.

Every which way in the South-West, the message is crystal clear: “Tinubu’s imperious dynasty is over: long live the sovereignty of the people.”

PoliticsBoko Haram Is Armed Wing Of Opposition Party – Fani-kayode by atlwireles(op):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66cUIlDPXM4

The Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Monday alleged that the Boko Haram sect is the armed wing of the opposition party, All Progressives Congress, further accusing the Party’s leaders of being supportive of the sect’s actions, as it suits their purpose of discrediting the PDP led government.

“If you compare what’s happening in Nigeria to what happened in Ireland some years ago, you had Sinn Fein on the one hand and then you had the IRA on the other. The IRA was the armed wing of Sinn Fein and as far as I’m concerned, Boko Haram could well be described as the armed wing of the opposition, today.”

The former minister made this statement while addressing issues concerning the State of the Nation, on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily.

“It’s very clear to me when you look at all these things that Nigeria is a nation that is at war and we need to be able to do something about this and recognize that when we are at war, you don’t start fighting the government of the day.”

Fani-Kayode, who had been known to critise the Goodluck Jonathan administration until a recent reconciliation, called on citizens to support the government. “What you do is you try to join forces with all the relevant individuals to fight the insurgency, fight the militants and move the country forward”, he said.

He said that the failure of citizens to understand the situation may lead to a take-over of government by the militants, noting the bold advances of militants in Iraq, who are attempting to take over the nation’s capital, Baghdad. He maintained that “sooner or later, you will have such advances being made on Abuja by the Islamic fundamentalists and by Boko Haram”, if care was not taken.

He argued that the Boko Haram was simply after establishing an Islamic fundamentalist state and so it was clear that there could be no basis for negotiation.

“This war is not between Christians and Muslims”, he argued, adding that “It’s between those that believe in Islamic fundamentalist state or the creation of it and Islamic fundamentalists on one hand against the rest of us – that is, Christians and Muslims together and everybody else.”

The former Minister of Culture and Tourism went further to describe members of the sect and their supporters as beasts, who would sacrifice fellow Muslims as a result of their depravity.

“They will kill their own Muslim brothers and sisters, they will kill Christians, they will kill anybody to achieve their objectives and to have their way.”

Asked about the identity of Boko Haram supporters, Fani-Kayode said that there were “some people in this country that believe that it suits their purpose for Boko Haram to kill people in order to discredit the government, destabilize the country and bring the government down.”

He went further to point fingers at the opposition party; maintaining that some members have sympathies for Boko Haram. In defending his claims, he referred to statements credited to members of the opposition, concerning the possible outbreak of violence if the Presidency did not return to the North in 2015.

“That was in 2011, 3 years later, we’ve seen evidence of that. We’ve seen that unfolding in this country”, he said, alleging that threats of making Nigeria ungovernable by some APC elements make them obvious sympathisers.

“Look at the comments of somebody like General Buhari, who was once Head of State in this country.

“Just last year, he said that Boko Haram should be granted amnesty, that Boko Haram should be treated with kid gloves, that Boko Haram should be treated in the same way as the Niger Delta militants (that is to say they should be sent abroad, paid a monthly salary and so forth and that they should not be killed.”

Fani-Kayode noted that the opinion was out of place considering the fact that “they killed almost 15,000 of our citizens, at that point in time… This is not the sort of thing anybody of that stature ought to be saying.”

The former minister further noted that the former Head of State had openly attempted to spread Sharia to all States of the Federation before, and that his objective back then now “tallies with the objective of Boko Haram.”

PoliticsCBN Clampdown On Bdcs Aimed At Curbing Terrorism Financing by atlwireles(op): 1:28pm On Jun 30, 2014
Other than its desire to stop the depletion of the country’s foreign reserves and curb the laundering of looted funds from the treasury, THISDAY has learnt that another reason the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reviewed the licensing guidelines for Bureau de Change (BDC) operators in the country stemmed from the fact that some of the BDCs are used as conduits to finance terrorism.

CBN sources informed THISDAY yesterday that prior to the increase of the capital requirement for BDCs to N35 million last week Tuesday, the central bank had undertaken an audit of BDC operations and discovered that several BDCs used multiple addresses and some of their owners owned multiple BDCs, which are all licensed with the CBN.

It was also learnt that some of the BDCs are used to procure foreign exchange from the central bank everyday that is in turn used to buy arms and ammunition as well as for the funding of other terror related activities by Boko Haram.

The sources said the Joint Intelligence Board (JIB), comprising the CBN, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the police and Department of State Security, had established that some BDCs in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, have been involved in laundering funds for terrorists.

The JIB was set up to monitor and clampdown on the illicit flow of funds into and out of the country through the financial system, requiring banks to report deposits in excess of $10,000 to the CBN and EFCC.

“It is not just the depletion of foreign reserves the CBN is concerned about. Some BDC are used as avenues to move money to Boko Haram which in turn uses it to buy arms and ammunition and engage in cross-border criminal activities,” he said.

The situation, the sources said, had become so alarming, which recently prompted the United States government to write to the CBN to make enquiries as to why Nigeria had become one of the biggest consumers of US dollars in the world.

“The US has written to express concern over our consumption of US dollars and they have asked to know why our consumption is so high.

“So the increase in the capital requirement was necessary to stop the foreign reserves depletion and clampdown on BDCs that serve as conduits to finance terrorism in the country,” the sources explained.

THISDAY has exclusively reported last week that the CBN was going to clampdown on the operators and introduce stringent measures aimed at reducing the number of BDCs operating in the country.

Sources had informed THISDAY that the continuous funding of BDCs depletes the external reserves by an average of about $9 billion annually as there are presently 3,208 registered BDCs in the country. The CBN sells $50,000 to each BDC weekly.

But if the CBN grants licences to the prospective 1,417 operators that are currently awaiting approval, the amount of funding to BDCs annually by the central bank could go up to $12.025 billion per annum, which according to the CBN sources is outrageous and a far cry from the past when BDCs were self-funded.

PoliticsWhy Fayemi Was Trashed by atlwireles(op): 12:52am On Jun 30, 2014
SATURDAY’S governorship election in Ekiti State has a fundamental significance that appears to have eluded the punditry of most of those that have weighed in with analysis. Some say the victory was down to Governor-elect Ayo Fayose’s charisma which struck a welcome chord with the state’s flotsam and jetsam who constitute the vast majority.
Others say that Governor Kayode Fayemi crushing defeat was because his of tenure’s most successful record of under-performance. A third viewpoint is that Fayemi achieved as a Governor but ran an elitist campaign which, understandably, meant that he hollered through a loudhailer that, if anything, assailed the eardrums of those he rallied for a fresh mandate – the inhabitants of the trench towns.

Whatever is the truth of each of the viewpoints, the most important explanation for Fayemi’s landmark electoral walloping is that the man travelled in a vehicle the masses did not believe was capable of delivering them at a destination they would recognise.
Who is going to readily board an aircraft certified by experts to have a 50 percent chance of crashing? Thus, there was Governor Fayemi aboard a patently unsafe vehicle, screaming himself hoarse, asking disinterested voters to come ride with him.
No, they responded emphatically, we ain’t gonna ride to our doom! The people of Ekiti, the land of Professors, had their case made for them by the masses, the same masses that clearly saw what seasoned analysts are currently glossing over.
Let’s get to brass tacks. When the All Progressives Congress, APC, surfaced from a coalition of disparate political parties and a motley collection of strange political bedfellows, even people who were supposed to know much better joined the bandwagon of hailing it as an alternative to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
But the APC was alternative to nothing; it was far from an alternative even unto itself. The APC represented no option to any other political party. It was a rainbow coalition of all sorts. To the informed, therefore, it was obvious that the meretricious association would sooner come to grief.
How could something constitute an alternative to something else when it did not posit any options, except abuses, diatribe and incendiary effluvia? APC cheerleaders did not want to answer this question. All they knew was that APC was the new dawn Nigeria was eagerly awaiting.

The APC took on President Goodluck Jonathan and abused him to very tiny pieces. They demonised him as a matter of course. They calumniated him with the constancy of a devout man’s daily prayers. They castigated the President with impunity.
They even went abroad and returned with hired foreign champions of invectives and diatribe. They failed to understand that their mordant attacks and their broadsides did not represent a political alternative to the status quo.
They refused to reckon with the fact that abuses do not win arguments. The point was made that people were not bound to love or support the Nigerian president. But the President happened to occupy a high constitutional position, a proposition that demanded the respect of all citizens.

The APC disagreed and continued with the abuses and the inflammatory remarks. A few samplers: This is Alhaji Ahmed Tinubu in The Punch of April 24, 2014: “They are already planning to rig elections but be ready to protect your votes; nobody serves you freedom a la carte. It is going to be rig and roast. We are prepared not to go to court but to drive you out.”
This is General Muhammadu Buhari in the Vanguard of May 15, 2012: “God willing, by 2015, something will happen. They either conduct free and fair elections or they go a very disgraceful way. If what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would be soaked in blood.”

This is Alhaji Nasir el-Rufai in Thisday of January 23, 2014: “The next election is likely going to be violent and many people are going to die. And the only alternative to get power is to take it by force…”. And, finally, this is Governor Rauf Aregbesola: “Make sure you go to cast your ballots with everything. I am not saying you should go there with guns but the law does not frown against charms…”.
How can all this venom represent an alternative to peace and respect for human life? Yet, the worst thing done by the APC was to play politics with the scourge of Boko Haram. Rather than join hands to fight the terrorists, the APC believed it could convert the bombing, killing, maiming and abductions of Nigerians into electoral votes!
Back to Ekiti State, the abuses continued. The APC kept calling Ayo Fayose a thug. They did not conclude a sentence until they had described him as an illiterate. They claimed that he was not his own man, that he would at Government House, Ado Ekiti, be nothing other than an Abuja imposition. In all their “progressive” wisdom they failed to understand that railing at a man connected with his people would ultimately turn out to be counter-productive.

The APC, despite the encompassing claims that it was teeming with intellection, failed to pay attention to contemporary history. Had they bothered about the history of the last few years, it would have occurred to them that Ekiti was previously a PDP state and that the current APC governorship incumbency there and even in Osun State were down to highly contentious judicial pronouncements.
Then it came down to the wire. And Fayose administered, not just on Fayemi but on the APC itself, a resounding electoral bashing. Fayose won in all the 16 local government areas of the state. Indeed, his victory was so total that it left every APC bigwig speechless. This means that the ordinary people of this country know on which side their bread is buttered.

They found no viable alternative to the politics of the one who ensured a free, fair, violent-free and credible gubernatorial election in Ekiti State. They have in a most decisive way reiterated the fact that the one who proclaimed that no Nigerian deserved to die on account of another’s political ambition is preferable to the proponents of fire and brimstone.
That is why Dr. John Kayode Fayemi will soon vacate Government House, Ado-Ekiti, setting in motion a process that will systematically sweep away with their own brooms the last vestiges of hate politics from the entity.

Move this conversation forward and avoid unnecessary gibberish.

We are saying let's go hard and fix the problem; you guys are saying " let's party till 2015" the problems will go away. There is no "fierce urgency of now" to get things fixed. You are hoping that everybody is going to turn a new leaf, how about sacking every police office; hoping that everyone would any crime? Closing all court houses; hoping that there would be no cases or folks on the wrong side of the law?
I'm not hoping for anything, I'm wishing the intent of this bombers and their supporters remain a mirage. I still maintain, you don't understand what's going on in this country.

MissMeiya: I just reread your post and realized you were stúpid to realize I was referring to YOU when I said tribalists are uneducated and have been failed by their country.

Secondly, I'm not a Northerner just because I disagree with you. I'm Cross Riverian.

Thirdly, I'm here on NL to understand Nigeria because I plan to use my master's degree to reform whatever small corner of Nigeria I can, because the people I LOVE live there. But I know you don't understand patriotism.

I should be asking you why you aren't on a Nigerian Forum. So, what are you doing here?

adconline: Why award $470m to cronies when you knew that it would not stop anything?
Proactively, it's a tool for crime fighting. It could have prevented 2nd Nya-Nya bombing. It could have helped in capturing of Emab bombing
The CCTV contract was for crime prevention. It was not 100% shield against crime. By the way the major program with CCTV is a frequency problem, the engineers are working on it. The 2nd Nyanya bombing like every other bombing, will be stoppable when Islamic mad men repent. Some of you don't understand the problem, we are currently facing in this country.

adconline: The one a block away from Emab hadn't been working when terrorists struck. Minister of FCT was telling individuals to install their own CCTVs. The ones at MMA don't work, was at their parking lot. We demand for actions that can be seen and you guys ask to go and read about them on paper.
The absence of CCTV did not cause the bombing at the mall. The religious wickedness of certain groups of people got us here. CCTV has never stopped any suicide bombing on earth, it only helps apprehend the parties responsible.

adconline: President Bush and his advisers sat down and went to work. He championed Patriot Act, homeland Security, TSA, etc.And we are asking GEJ to start with the foundation and folks are calling us name. His administration awarded a$470 million contract for CCTV that's not working. What has GEJ done to reserve this contract and install fully functional units?
Go back and review the year $470M contract was awarded, and who awarded it? How do you know the contract has not been revisited and technical issues involved with the implementation. Can you pass a patriot act in Nigeria, without causing a religious/tribal war.

And how many Americans are killed by bombs?
Americans have not allowed the level of Islamic madness allowed in this country. 9-11 is there, as a constant reminder.

When you live in a community, where persons make up their minds to become suicide bombers, no government on earth can impede such level of wickedness, without adopting measures like they have in Israel.
