eGuerrilla: But how has GEJ entrenched greater equity in the Niger Delta.Jonah's press coverage is like an antagonistic personal assault march for no reason. Most of his detractors in the press are not proposing new policy or how to make things better. They are mainly spewing personal attacks, at him, his family, his tribe then the whole Southsouth, as if we have done anything to them.. We have had enough. That's why, you hear Asari, Clarke and the push back from the Southsouth. Most people here have simply been pushed to the wall, and they refuse to take anymore of these insults. I don't know what you meant failed to demonstrate fidelity to suffering people of Nigerdelta. We don't think, he has failed. Remember Goodluck is President of Nigeria not the Nigerdelta. We are getting our fair share in projects and allocation. The Amnesty program he sustained, has touched the lives of thousands of young people than anything the Federal government has done in the region before. Can more be done, yes. The NDDC is coming back to life, and all things will only get better. |
shymexx: Lmao. No one wants your Warri. I was alluding to the semi-autonomous Ijebu communities in Itsekiriland. You lot can keep your Warri. As long as those people still maintain their Ijebu ancestry and align with it - they're part of the Yoruba commonwealth. And they would go anywhere the Yoruba's go.As as long nobody takes a millimeter of Delta state land, people are free to go where they want. |
Katsumoto: There is a lot wrong with this post. Yorubas don't need Nigeria to survive. In an economical sense, a Nigeria practicing federalism/confederationism is better than a Nigeria broken down into smaller pieces. Let the ND collect the revenue from its oil resources.I will agree "Nigeria practicing federalism/confederationism is better than a Nigeria broken down into smaller pieces. Let the ND collect the revenue from its oil resources". Most people in the Nigerdelta will want to remain in Nigeria, that's my own personally feeling, They want control over their lives and resources. Even, if they had to pay some percentage to the center. The last 14 years has changed lots of mind about this Nigerian project, for the ugly. The treatment GEJ has received mostly from the Yorubas press/politcal class and Fulani political class came as shock to us. For most people now, is simply bring whatever you have, we are ready. |
shymexx: Lmao!!! If the war kicks off - best believe no part of Ijebuland especially those who still align in Ijebu in Itsekiriland would go with any other ethnic group in Delta. You don't even know who I'm but best believe, I would be become Georgy Zhukov and I shall liberate my people. Those of us in delta, mostly in Warri seek no war. When you cross your line in Warri, we have a way of showing you the boundary. |
Bishop Magic: Delta is not SW either! So stop lumping them in.The Iteskiris know their place in Warri. They can always be reminded if needed. |
shymexx: However, to achieve the "confederation" status, you've to put disintegration on the table and use that as the bargaining chip for a compromise. Deal or no deal!Regionalism and fiscal federalism will work just fine. It worked from 1952-1966. Everyone says those were the best days. Then let's go back there. |
shymexx: I messed up the other post. You can lay claim to delta in hell not on this planet and not in this lifetime. |
Omo_Tier1: I really do not have time to flog a sea horse. The numbers are there for all to see and by looking at the states in each regions ith improved resources, you can tell which region has improved the most.I don't understand what you mean by Akwa Ibom contributing zero to the national coffers. |
Omo_Tier1: Great spin at what? Or are the figures in the link you posted not a true reflection of what I said?On a positive note, one could see a trend of improved revenues from most of the states especially those in South West, The most improved states are clearly not the southwest but the southsouth. With Edo and delta almost doubling their IGRs between 2010-2012. |
Omo_Tier1: My people, it is obvious that some states contribute very little to the national confers yet take out so much! Imagine my Edo State generates more revenue that Akwa-Ibom state!Dude, that was a great spin ![]() |
solomon111: Delta state should do better. At least things are moving in the right direction. Remember delta state lost 70% of the oil servicing companies in the Warri crises and the kidnapping saga. Things are slowly beginning to look up again. Also with the Delta beyond oil agenda, I will not be surprised, if revenue for 2013 hit N100B |
theoctopus: You get more ridiculous and hypocritical with every post you make. I am sure everyone reading this thread is laughing at you right now. hypocrite! ![]() |
Is very good to finally see some data on IGR. Some of noise makers here need to get a life, before they make up numbers about IGR from hell. |

A large part of Lagos revenue is from workers tax. The Lagos, Rivers, and Delta state governments led the remaining states in internally generated revenue, IGR, in the last four years. Though the figures for the outgoing 2013 are yet to be released, available data obtained by PREMIUM TIMES from the Joint Tax Board, JTB, revealed that the Babatunde Fashola government in Lagos State raked in about N185.9 billion into its coffers in 2010; N202.76 billion in 2011, and N219.2 billion in 2012. Rivers State, which trailed a distant second, realised about N49.59 billion in 2010; N57.19 billion in 2011 and N66.28 billion in 2012, while Delta State, which came third raised N26.09 billion, N34.75 billion and N45.57 billion during the corresponding years. However, Yobe, Borno and Zamfara States were the worse off in their IGR efforts. Two of the states, Yobe and Borno, have suffered from insurgent attacks killing thousands of people, as the federal government in May declared a state of emergency in the two states. Yobe recorded dwindling fortunes from N5.96 billion in 2010 to N2.39 billion in 2011, and only N1.79 billion in 2012. Similarly, Borno State, which realised only N2.109 billion in 2010, managed to record marginal improvement to N2.282 billion in 2011, and N2.45 billion in 2012. Further details on the figures showed that Lagos State recorded the highest revenue haul of N172.44 billion in 2012 from workers through the Pay-As-You-Earn, PAYE, system, N4.36 billion came from road taxes; N1.89 billion from direct assessment of companies doing business in the state, while N40.513 billion was realised from other revenue sources. In 2011, about N120.25 billion was realised from PAYE in Lagos; N7.97 billion from direct assessment, and N74.54 billion from other sources, while N104.681 billion came from PAYE in 2010; N7.51 billion from direct sources, and N73.704 billion from other sources. Rivers State earned N55.1 billion through PAYE in 2012; N485.9 million through road taxes; N22.075 million through direct tax assessment and N10.668 million through other revenue sources during the year. In 2011, Rivers State made N47.74 billion through PAYE; N5.201 billion in direct assessment, and N4.24 billion from other sources, N43.27 billion came from PAYE in 2010; N1.645 billion in direct assessment, and N4.673 billion from other revenue sources during the year. For Delta State, PAYE accounted for over N42.565 billion in 2012; N244.195million from road taxes; N123.4million from direct assessment, while N2.635billion came from other sources during the year. The revenue realised in 2011 in Delta State through PAYE was N33.193 billion, with N145.162 million coming road taxes; N102.54 million from direct assessment and N1.309 billion from other sources. No details were available about the performance of the state in 2010, though a total revenue of over N26.087 billion was recorded during the year. The summary of some of the other states’ performances showed that Edo State generated N10.652billion in 2010; N14.76billion in 2011 and N18.88billion in 2012, while Akwa Ibom generated N10.134billion in 2010; N11.679billion in 2011 and N13.517billion in 2012. http://premiumtimesng.com/ |
Orlando Owoh: There is no part of Burutu I've not been. It is in my state, Delta. I've been to Kiagbodo, Ojobo, Oglgha, Okpokunou, Oboro, etc.Keep lying to yourself. |
Orlando Owoh: Have you been to Kiagbodo?Do you even know, how to get to Burutu You have to stop lying on this forum. You don't have any tribe worth insulting, because you are not an Itsekiri man. That has already been settled |
ndu_chucks: I'm sorry to say that one of your problems is that you people do not know who you are, nor understand your identity. Czechoslovakia is no Nigeria.I think 85% of Southsouth will vote for disintegration without thinking twice. I expect violence to a certain level, but the break up of this nation without fundamental restructuring is simply a matter of time. The average man from the Southsouth has gone through a political transformation like never before, in the last 14 years. That too cannot be swept under the rug. |
Orlando Owoh: Have you asked yourself what these people do with their allocation? I served in an Ijaw community where I saw poverty occasioned mainly by the greed of some privileged ones who appropriated what the whole community is supposed to enjoy. The Niger Deltan of which I happen to be one, though Itsekiri, should start asking their leaders questions. Asari Dokubo has built a university and has chains of businesses and houses, who has asked him how he got the money. Tompolo has a maritime school. I was in Kiagbodo, Burutu LGA, Delta State, and I saw the structures of the university Edwin Kiagbodo Clark was erecting. How did he come about the money in his 80s?What structures is Clark erecting My God, you just lie too much. Itsekiri my foot. |

The Osun State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria has said that the reclassification of public schools embarked upon by Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola is capable of triggering terrorism in the state. The Osun CAN said this in a communiqué signed by its Chairman, Rev. Elisha Ogundiya, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Osogbo, the state capital, on Tuesday. The communiqué read in part, “ We wish at this juncture to state categorically that the Osun State Christian Association of Nigeria is not fighting the Government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, neither has the association pitched tent with any political party, especially since Christians in the state formed a very large part of the electorate that voted the present governor into office. We will however not shy away from our responsibility to defend the Christian faith. “The continued silence of the Osun State Government on the problem caused by this new policy on education is like sitting on a keg of gun powder. For instance there have been lot of disturbances in public missionaries’ schools in the state, particularly on the use of hijab. “The climax of this was the attack on some innocent teachers and pupils of Baptist High School, Ejigbo, by some Muslim youths on Monday 25th November, 2013. The Ejigbo incident is an infraction of the rule of law, especially given the fact that the hijab issue is presently before an Osogbo High Court. “The Ejigbo debacle has shown that the mode of d’emploi adopted in the execution of the reclassification of schools is capable of breeding and unleash pure terrorism and insurgency in the mould of Boko Haram on the otherwise peace-loving Osun State for which posterity will hold Aregbesola administration liable.” The association condemned the attack on the Principal of Baptist High School, Ejigbo, Mr. Layi Oguntola, by some Muslim youths. The principal was attacked in his office by the Muslim youths last week for allegedly sending a hijab-wearing pupil, one Romoke, away from the school. Oguntola has since denied the charge, saying that he merely caned the pupil for being unruly. The Osun CAN called on the security agencies in the state to ensure that those arrested in connection with the principal’s attack as well as their sponsors were prosecuted. It asked the governor to stop either the reclassification of schools in the state or be ready to return schools to their owners in order to avoid recurrent crisis. The association also asked the state government to stop the use of hijab in Christian’s mission public schools and use beret as part of new uniform for female students. Ogundiya said that the seven day ultimatum earlier given the governor was suspended due to the intervention of prominent citizens and security agencies in the state. The CAN also demanded an apology from the spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, for calling the association a surrogate of the opposition party. http://www.punchng.com/ |
The war of words between the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi, seems not to be over as the minister has described the latest call for her probe by the governor as a campaign of falsehood against her person. Ameachi had called on the House of Representatives to probe the Minister of Finance and Minister of Water Resources, Stella Ochekpe over the alleged seizure of the World Bank and African Development Bank loans approved by the National Assembly for the state. He had said, “The Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is using her position to undermine the safety and health of the people of Rivers State. I can’t afford to give all Rivers people bottled water, but all I can assure you is to ensure the provision of potable water. “But the Minister of Finance has refused to release it and I think I should put that before you (House Committee on Water Resources). They want Rivers people to die.” Okonjo-Iweala while replying in a statement issued on Tuesday night said it was “unfortunate that Amaechi is persisting in his outrageous and totally illogical campaign of falsehood” against her person. The statement signed by her Special Adviser on Communication, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu described as “complete fabrication” Amaechi’s statement that the minister was responsible for the delay of the African Development Bank water project. It reads in part, “As the ministry had previously explained, the project is going through the processes and must get final approval from the board of the African Development Bank and the Federal Executive Council before the Minister can sign it. “So, the idea that Dr. Okonjo-Iweala has refused to sign it is preposterous and totally inaccurate. “Dr. Okonjo-Iweala is not responsible for managing the N257bn that Rivers State has received from the Federation Account within the first 10 months of 2013 so the suggestion that she is somehow responsible for the challenges confronting the state doesn’t make sense.” http://www.punchng.com/ |

Ibori never knew when to stop. He is paying the price, for fighting a man that did nothing to him. As per performance in government, only Makafi of Kaduna, Duke of cross river performed better than Ibori. |
