How about you drop the link to the WhatsApp group or drop a number for them to contact. If you're scared of giving out your number you can drop an email you don't plan on using for official business. I've seen threads turn useless because someone asked people to drop numbers. The above is just my advise, but what do I know. Ciao!

A little over 600 shouldn't be a problem. They don't have time to read your SOP so I don't expect them to have time to count the words. You will talk about it and if they have any questions they'll ask.
My advise is, you should stick to what you can talk about in less than 3mins and leave references out of it.

If the next thing posted here is not related to award letters, I don't want to see it. LSS should go and form their thread because this says France, Germany and UK.

PTDF shortlisted all those who were invited based on merit. If they didn't think we were worthy they wouldn't have invited us. If your profile wasn't awesome you wouldn't have made the cut, but remember that you're not the only awesome guy from your state and put your fate in the hands of who you believe in.

There are apps available on play store to assist you in having a grasp of the recondite vocabs. I'll recommend Magoosh vocab.

I'll advice you master SE and TC very well. Try to get almost all the SC/TC questions in quick time, you can then focus the bulk of your time on reading comprehension. This worked for me and several others.

I will implore you to read through the thread and learn from the experience of those that have done the test before. It's understandable that verbal part is the 'bad guy' of the GRE, everyone had to deal with it head on.

Can someone who has written GRE, for the love of sponsored Ph.D, tell me how best to go about memorizing Vocabs?
Also, would you advise one to focus on his strengths (reading comprehension) and pray the vocabs in sentence equivalence and text completion are friendly?

I have learned so much from this thread.
A 2-2 isn't the best, but it isn't the worst either.
U can apply for scholarships like the ones people already mentioned (e.g PTDF) with your 2-2, but prepare for fierce competition. The first class and 2-1 won't be sleeping while u apply for the scholarships. All the scholarships out there have a limit to how many people they can award so u have to prove that you are worthy and how to do that is by publications, getting good scores in Postgraduate application exams (GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, etc), work experience (from relevant industry), good referees, the perfect SOP, following threads like this to gain more insights and so on.
Your 2-2 hasn't stopped your dream of a sponsored masters, but it made it harder.
Just ask yourself the path you wanna take from here and that's all.

Good day house. I really don't know whether to honour my interview invite for the following reasons
1. I have a first degree from biochemistry
2. I have a masters degree in pharm chem
3. my publications are not even in oil and gas. The closest being in renewable energy and majorly in natural product chemistry

Those of you doubting if it's possible to get this scholarship base on merit.
I know someone who got it base on merit but he confessed that when you get there u will meet people that never even showed up for interview. All I can say is, maybe there's money they give to those who merit it and money they can give any idiot they love. Just do your thing and hope it's your time.

I heard one of the interviewers say they shouldn't include PTDF undergrade award so it won't look like the person has a godfather there

Got to the centre (Abuja) around 1:30pm.
Security man: Who are you here to see?
Me: I'm here for PTDF scholarship interview.
Sec man: Let me see your invite.
I showed him.
Sec man: It says 3pm. Go to shop rite and wait till it's 2:30pm. I already sent some candidates there.
Me: Driver take me to shoprite.
In my mind I was telling myself why not go and chill before facing death. GOT fans understand.
Lemme cut the long story short.
I was invited into the conference room by a lady. She was emphasizing that we stay calm. Maybe many before me were panicking and sweating under AC.
I went in.
They told me to sit while they calculated scores for the candidate before me. They finished just as the lady usher finished collecting my certificates.
She collected two SOPs and told me to keep 1.
I didn't give her any publications or awards.
After handing everything to them they asked me my name and then searched for it on their systems. One said he's number 2. The other said 54. My heart cut. I got calm after 1 said, "he's number 2 from that his place". Yeah, he asked for my state so I guess he imputed during the search.
After locating my weird name one asked me to talk about my SOP. I talked for a while before he was done arranging what he was arranging and signaled me to stop. As if he didn't want the other interviewer to know he is asking me to stop.
They now asked me questions from what I told them when I was talking about the SOP.
They asked me to explain catalytic cracking. I must confess that the man didn't know how to ask the question. He had to rephrase like 3 times. I was just waiting for him to show himself. After I talked about catalytic cracking and how my research relates to it and other processes in the industry, they both were moving their heads in approval.
Next thing I heard was, "You are only focused on the downstream. What about mid stream and upstream ".
In my heart, I was like, all no be oil and gas.
I told them it wasn't limited to downstream and explained its applications in the upstream, plus how it will help solve global warming. I even used the AC in the room to explain.
One now spoke Hausa, thinking I don't understand.
In the course of my explanation, I stated that I had a published thesis and they requested for it. I gave them through the beautiful usher.
After bombarding me with questions like, do you know dash dash dash type of what I am developing, they said, "u can leave".
That was when I asked them about my awards. The man was like, "look at this young man".
They requested for everything and recorded.
Sorry, I don't know how to say short stories.
