Mailthaddeus: Scot Morrison update should not deter anyone who has a means to come to Australia. The average Australian is lazy and prefers to get relief packages from the government. Health care is free for them and they even get rental supports, therefore some would rather not work. During these Covid times, many people are getting jobs. It's all there in job sites, and u will definitely get something to do. And studies is arranged in such a way that it won't clash with ur work. Cos no one except u not to work while studying. So ignore those comments about job losses and look at the positive side. It's not gonna be easy, but at the end, it would be worth it. I used to believe this @ bolded but things aren't always black and white. Nevertheless you are right, people are getting jobs even during this time. |

Ilias2: That's 100% true. .. I agree with you.
Essentially, when coming,plan ahead.
Even so, qyou get a job 3 weeks after you come, you need to generate an average of 11,000 for your 2nd semester tuition and for you to be able to work effectively, you would need a car. Since its your first job, they require you to work on most jobs mornings which clashes with your class schedules. So it put more pressure on you and your academics in the first 2 or so months.
I am saying all this for some of you to have that mental picture and be able to plan ahead knowing this before hand and to be able to creatively find a solution if there's one. Not necessarily to discourage ...general awareness. Many like me have passed through this hurdles before and doing much better now. Thanks for your input. I received multiple offers that I stopped counting after sometimes but unfortunately since I hadn't purchased a car. I heard the annoying "sorry |

No one is saying the process is gonna be Easy but it's definitely gonna be worth it at the end.
Information is key and like I always say "One of the central ideas of learning (academic culture) is that Knowledge develops through debate and arguments"
Ciao! I hope you listened to ScoMo updates and that of the Treasurer. Australians first |

Some people think getting money is as easy as filling their water bottle. When I landed I had no accommodation waiting for me. No food and no clothes. That one is story for another day(unfortunately it was during the winter season too) and with a tuition fee of almost 17k per semester. It wasnt an ideal situation for anyone to be in. |

Ikjosh04: #My Perspective I am open to correction and more enlightenment
Well, it's an open fact that Coronavirus impacted all. Countries economy negatively and that's including Australia but it's also worthy of note that all state in Australia are doing pretty good(Perth even had a budget surplus from their 2020 allocated budget. I.e., more than enough money) with the exception of Melbourne which is just easing the recent lockdown and I actually read few hours ago or so that many folks in Melbourne flocked to the beach few days back without nose mask and following the covid 19 safety protocols or so.
Be that as it may, on the police remembrance day which happened last week, Scott Morrison said 750,000 jobs have been recovered and all states with the exception of Melbourne are doing great wrt bringing the lost jobs back.
Though, i am actually calm and looking to see what the 2021 budget that will be made public on the 6th October or so looks like to know and understand the next steps of Australia economy recovery.
the above points is just to show anyone reading that I'm doing my best to get informed about the economy situation.
Now, the bone of contention is about this tution fee stuff.
Taking myself for example, my tution fee for the 2yr program is over A$70,000 and its only the elite which is less than 10% of Nigerians can comfortably say they can afford to have the full tuition fees before going to Australia to study and huge part of those elite prefers to send their ward to the USA, Canada and the UK than Australia for the best reason known to them(i stand to be corrected, I'm just giving out a theory).
I don't find it comfortable when some people come in here to discourage us(myself included) from going to study in Australia because we don't have the full 2 year tution fee and I hope i have been able to clarify the question that's always popping up about having full tution fee before thinking of studying in Australia. I haven't come across anyone discouraging people from studying in Australia. Everyone says make sure you have your first year tuition at hand. Yes, there are jobs in Australia but it took me almost a year to get a good paying job that could pay my tuition and that includes after asking for extension and in some cases taking out loans to meet up with the deadline despite my "good paying job". Do you want people to paint an unrealistic version of Australia and then get accused of lying ? Just because ScoMo said that 750k jobs will be recovered doesn't necessarily mean it will in all sectors. Once people gets here they realise they are on their own and except you come across angels disguised as humans to help you in times of need, it will be really hard sometimes. I think this all comes down to understanding what people wrote in the context they did and getting clarification where needed. |

dearpiriye: thank you very much. No I didn’t mean pr. I meant the working hours for international students. Does the placement hours have any impact on the 40 hours fortnightly given to intl students? No problem about the contact. Thanks for the institution Placement is part of the education and it doesn't have an impact whatsoever on the hours given to students for work. |

dearpiriye: Thank you so much.... we intend to give her enough money for everything for the first year just that there will be no support from home for the rest. For the placements does immigration count them as fulfilling the 20hours/ week for work? Please what institution did your friend attend? Is it possible to get your friend’s contact? I hope you won’t mind if I send you a mail. Thanks a lot If you're talking about PR; placement hours doesn't count. She will need to be certified and work as a nurse whether in a hospital or aged care setting for her hours to count. My friend attended Deakin University and unfortunately I won't be able to give out her contact. Sorry about that |

dearpiriye: hello please I have some questions for you, the house and any one that has finished nursing or is on in Australia. My sister has a bsc in biochemistry and I’m looking for institutions that allow graduate entry for two years. ACU is the cheapest I’ve seen so far. Did you go through the graduate entry program or normal bsc? do you think nurses will need the extra points offered by schooling at regional areas? I know it’s on the sol but she will need to raise her second year fees and upkeep with no support from home so I’m bothered about ease of getting good jobs. Did you have to raise funds your self and how did you cope with that and the hours your supposed to complete for simulations and clinical practice. Can you help with an estimate of how much additional fees you had to pay per semester for other things aside tuition? My sister will be going after nysc so can anyone help with ideas on how to show strong ties to the country. She’s not married and probably won’t be working by then. Thanks a lot.
Cc jewelstone joan011 westafrican bligs PurpleG tobe4real This is in addition to what bligs wrote. I know someone that used the graduate entry approach but she was a nurse from Nigeria and did excellently in her academics. The fees won't be less than 30k per annum for most universities. Apaty from uniforms and equipment which shouldn't be upto $500 there isn't any substantial spending except if you like buying textbooks like no tomorrow If she can associate herself with number 1. God ( those here can testify to this) and real information givers she should be okay. Simulations aren't time consuming. However she should prepare herself for placements ( I hate those) depending on what level you are. There's a large possibility that she won't be able to work. Some schools put placements during the holidays Nevertheless it is possible to raise her school fees but she would need to be prudent in spending and also have enough to cover the first year when coming in. If she ticks all boxes, she won't need the extra points by schooling in regional areas but if she can get those, goooooddd cos Nurses are in demand. |

Please I want to take the certificate iv disability course offshore before coming to Australia.
Is it possible and can you recommend any training provider/institution? I wouldn't recommend taking the course if you're not here cos it'll be expensive. I've seen a course that cost more than $8k to take offshore. |

QUESTION
1. How many of you still have your job/ enough shifts during this pandemic ? 2. How good is your super and tax knowledge ? 3. Did you nominate your super fund yourself when you got your job or did your company choose one for you ? 4. Do you check your supper account to ensure that your employer pays your super ?
As good as getting a job is, not having good knowledge about the above will hurt you in the long term |

Betapikin01: Good morning All
Please I'm in a state of confusion right now.
I recently got an admission with a university in Australia (to resume 20th July) ACU precisely. I have Paid my school fees, got my CoE, and I have also applied for my visa, did my Biometric and medical. Actually waiting for my grant. But due to the pandemic, everything is on pause mode. Few weeks ago, the outcome of a scholarship that I applied for came out successful. And I was awarded a 50%scholarship. (I was so happy.) Yesterday I got a mail from the school requesting the I can commence my studies online pending when the travel restriction will be lifted or I can defer the admission to Feb 2021. Now my challenges. 1. If I defer the admission, will the scholarship be withdrawn? 2. If I chose to start my course online and my visa is denied what happens. 3. Can the school give me a new CoE reflecting the scholarship? Please guys I need ur advice and humble suggestions since you guys are already settled and know how things are done there.
Regards. I think you should ask that in the other school thread they can give you the answers you need. 1. I don't think so (if it is not term specific) 2. Entry into the country will be next year, why not start online ? Since your program is an on campus program and not an online one, I don't think you would be denied visa on that ground 3. Of course they can. Send these inquiries to your school, they are in the best position to answer them specifically the international student body in your school Those are my views on this. Anyone care to add anything else |
