Sorry to all who have been trying to contact me via email. It's been quite a busy time for me. Finishing with studies and all that. Please check the Nigerian student thread for survival tips and also it's best if you write your questions here so everyone can learn (except if your privacy and confidentiality may not be maintained by doing that). Emailing about cheap schools, how much is tuition fees for certain schools and the likes is not a private matter biko If I see that kind email, I no go reply. |

pemilabelle: Good day everyone!!
Please is there anyone traveling next month or recently just left? Need to find out what airline is best to use.
I checked Qatar airways, it’s almost $2300 for a one way ticket (March). Must one get a return ticket too? If you're going on a student visa, you don't need a return ticket |

FOODHere are some tips for bringing in food into the australia. Border has been opened and you're excited about traveling but things can turn sour quickly when your beloved food ingredients get thrown away at the airport . 1. Create and print a commercial packaging label (it's very easy to do; I can send you a format if you need one). P.S it shiuld be the sticky type that you can affix on the outside of the package. 2. Use a very good packaging bag (ziplock bag or one that can be sealed completely; a type of commercial seal) 3. Make sure your ingredients weigh 500g or less (you can decide to bring 60 bags of dried ugu leaves that weigh 500g or less) 4. It should be in a dried or grinded form. 5. Send mine....address coming soon P.S It also depends on the type of custom officer you meet, you might follow all the rules to the later but it might not still work out for you therefore you can't neglect the God factor. Other things you'll need (Covid wise) 1. Australian Declaration form (should be filled at least 3 days before depature) 2. Border permit for the state you'll be going to 3. A covid test 72 hours prior to depature 4. RAT or PCR test within 24 hours after arrival or follow rules of the state. Goodluck on your journey |

DigitalPriest: Is it possible to do Masters in Nursing without doing BSN? She did Microbiology. Yes, it is. (at least in my school, I don't know what is obtainable in other schools) |

DigitalPriest: Hello house,
My wife is intending to study nursing in Australia. She has Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology from a Nigerian University.
She wants to do Bsc in Nursing. Or should she do a master's degree program in related course?
Please, which good and relatively cheap nursing school or University offering nursing in Australia do you recommend?
We are making some research, but I decided to also ask here.
I don't mind if the university is in the outskirts of Australian major cities.
Thanks. She should try Masters in Nursing (coursework not research) Nursing course is expensive so expect to pay a minimum of $10k per semester (I don't know if it has increased) Check for schools online, their tuition fee is normally displayed on the website. |

VickayThrills: This whole thing is very serious and annoying.
I have two offers from my chosen University (UTAS) right now.
The first one, I've received the unconditional offer, I even defered it from February to July 2021 and I doubt if I can defer again cos their policy is just one deferment for an offer.
I planned paying for my fees this month but I won't pay again for now to avoid being tied to starting online.
The second one (Social Work) came with a bridging course to do for six months before Masters proper. This one starts July and my school said it cannot be done online and that's good for me cos I'm not in for an online study. However, if I don't start this July, the deferment will be till next year July because the bridging should run from July till December so as to start the Masters which has only February intake.
Right now, the next year thing that I never bargained for is turning to a reality like play like play.
I remember telling a friend who outrightly deferred till next year because of the border drama that it's going to be a long wait for her but just see my life now, I'm gradually sliding into her long waiting shoes...
I'm really confused ooo... What's the first course you were offered. Secondly, why can't you do the bridging course online ? Personally, I would have done that online and just start the main thing when I get here. But this year is looking kinda bleak for international student arrival. Let's just hope the Federal government will listen to the state on their proposals |

Kess2020: @Aussiejoan @AyaE and everyone that has been helping on this platform.
Thanks will be waiting to hear from you all soon heros . Q1: While I want to be optimistic here and say yes, unfortunately that isn't feasible but it isn't impossible. First of all, the federal government is trying to piss everybody off for reasons best known to them regarding the vaccine but it looks like it is working in their favour as the Astra Zeneca vaccine has now been associated with the blood clots. However, they still have eggs in other basket even if it isn't much. They already placed the order for the Pfizer vaccine and the state of Victoria is also manufacturing the vaccine (I think it's the Astra Zeneca one) not from scratch though. The key to student arrivals is having more than 90% of the citizens vaccinated, quarantine programs for international students whose arrival quotas should not affect the Australians arriving in any way and the Federal government approval of such programs (which just isn't happening) Q2. Although I came here in 2019 I got my visa in 2 weeks so yes it is possible. Q3. There are a lot of factors you should consider regarding this but first I think you should talk to your school international student advisors regarding this, they are in the best position to give you an accurate info. Then you would take things from there (and you might be looking at deferring. Nursing is competitive and not easy to get as they say) P. S I think the main reason your school said it can't be done online is because of placement On a lighter note, God I hate the 3rd trimester what school is that ? |

AyaE: It's okay to just say thank you for the information and walk away even if it's not useful. Someone took out time to respond to you and is not being appreciated. This is why most people don't even try to help and honestly I don't blame them. Maybe we do not know about transit visa or what it entails but this is why the thread is titled 'Australian student visa enquiries'. Nigeria is frustrating enough and the time difference (inclusive of workload + study) for those is Australia can also be exhausting. Let's all do better and not make it any harder for each other. A little love and 'thank you' hasn't killed anybody. Love and light peeps ✌ Well they say you won't know how painful the shoe is until you wear it. |

Redef: Hello everyone, I know this is the wrong thread but i asked on student visa thread and noone answered I have read on this thread that studying in regional areas can boost your chance of PR. I studied accounting in my bsc and i saw some courses like Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Health (3 years professional experience- Torrens University
Flinders University-Master of Business Administration and Master Health Administration (2years)
Uni of Tasmania-Master of Information Technology and Systems- James cook uni- Master of Information Technology- Master of Business Administration (MIT- MBA) 2years
All these courses have health or IT which i read is in high demand My question is after studying any of these I hope my bsc in accounting will not be an issue when applying for PR since accountants are not needed?
Please help me respond so I know what to do @edkai @solitin @aussiejoan @joan00 @bellong and other people who have been contributing their knowledge Thank you While it's true that studying in a regional area will give you more points. I don't see why your BSc in accounting should be an issue if you don't use it while assessing for PR (except if you plan to) and go with the one that'll increase your chances. However you'll have some convincing to do (especially when switching from accounting to something health related; visa related though, I think) That's just my opinion though. Wait for the experts to give their verdict. |

Smile4mee01: No worries. Information I got from nairaland helped me a great deal, so you are in the right section.
I used BCIE then also, my elder brother in the UK was my sponsor. So I dont know much about the US.
As of today, the government seem to have tremendous progress with containing COVID and dont want to risk returning to the pandemic by allowing international students even though the schools need the money bad. As you may know, some schools are already cutting admission to some courses.
Regarding PR, all the information you need is on thier website. If you study a course on the SOL list, it increases your chances of getting PR after school.
Wait for the elders like @ Aussiejoan to advice better. Until then keep your head up. Elder Ke! You've given him all the info besides reading all the threads on Aussie land should be sufficient. Things has been quite busy on my end. |

Chaaludike: tpain22, If your doomsday prediction is correct, why did I get my visa issued on 30th September? I applied for masters in business Administration in January 2020 and got it for February intake 2021. Stop discouraging people Doomsday But on a serious note what tpain22 wrote is correct. Melbournians aren't even allowed to go beyond 5km except for work and they must have a permit so don't expect the borders to be opened this year. |
