Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by AUSTAAI(m): 1:04am On Jul 06, 2015
Hello guys, I like Lexus for its interior, movement and balance and also as a brand.

For a first car, what Lexus series (i.e IS, ES or GS) would you recommend in terms of maintenance, availability of parts, resale value (for upgrading purposes) and fuel consumption?

From my research, I do fancy IS200 series 2004 and above. What do you think guys?
Education / 11 Things You'll Regret Doing In Your 30s by AUSTAAI(m): 8:26pm On Mar 10, 2015
Hello Everyone,

I stumbled over this piece whilst browsing and decided to share it, i thought it might be of great help to some of us in our 30s.

1. The shoulds
You'll feel societal pressures in your 30s more than ever before, but don't let the shoulds hold you back. You may constantly worry about how you should own a home, you should have kids, you should be married, or you should have a steady career.

Drop all those expectations, and live life the way that makes you the happiest. Don't feel like a failure just because your life happens to deviate from the norm — you've got one life to live, so live it your way.

2. Not spending time with parents
One common regret that many people in their 30s have is not spending time with their parents while they are young enough to actively participate. Simple pleasures like taking a walk, traveling, or even having a conversation may be harder to come by once your parents age.

3. Putting work first
Something to keep in your mind in your 30s: if you put work first, you're going to regret it. Spend time with people you love, because those are precious moments that money and moving up the ladder can't beat.

4. Spending time on negativity
And you thought those negative people would disappear from your life in your 30s. Nope, there may be some hanging around, so don't waste time on them. Watch out for people who don't make you feel good about yourself, and reevaluate your relationships with them.

Be careful of spending time on negative thoughts and issues that you have no control over. Just. Let. It. Go.

5. Thinking your 30s was old
"I'm too old for this!" may be a common phrase you use in your 30s. You know what? You're not. And I bet people in their 50s and 60s will agree. The world was your oyster in your 20s, and it still is. Take a chance, live, and enjoy life as the young'un you are, and never lose that child in you.

6. Not putting yourself first
Maybe you're putting everyone else first in your life but you. Snap out of it! Know that once you put yourself first, everything else can fall into place. Putting your needs first will make you a happy camper, which will result in better relationships — a win-win.

When you take care of yourself, you'll have fewer regrets in your 30s. The partner your life revolved around? You probably won't regret that as much if you had focused on your needs and chased your dreams as well.

7. Not taking better care of your body
It's quite the paradox — you say you're too old for something, and yet you still keep the junk-food-fueled and antiexercise habits of the younger you. Those habits are harder to drop, but treat your body right early, or it'll catch up with you before you know it.

8. Not taking chances
Maybe you're overly cautious at this age and perhaps it's the shoulds we mentioned earlier that are holding you back. Don't play it safe, and live a little.

9. Not saving and investing enough
This seems to be a huge, huge regret that a lot of 30-year-olds carry. If you start saving earlier, you'll be reaping bigger rewards by the time you retire. And if you don't put off saving and investing in your 30s, you'll be more likely to retire at the age you want.

10. Not traveling enough
The world is at your fingertips, so take off on a travel adventure! Don't keep procrastinating and putting this off — it'll be harder to make time for travel as you get older. Get inspired by this list of the 10 most beautiful travel adventures.

11. Caring too much about what others think
It seems we're guilty of this at every age. Don't waste more time on this useless habit in your 30s. Stop investing time and energy into caring about what people who don't care about you think. The ones who do care for you will accept you as you are.

Guys, what are your thoughts on KIA Sportage? In term of everything.
Car Talk / Re: Kia Sportage (suv) by AUSTAAI(m): 9:20am On Mar 01, 2015
bravolad:
The desire to be different from every other person comes with a cost, just be ready for that price when it's time. A neighbour of mine used his Kia spot age for about three years and later last year, the suv caved in. Depending on how often you want to travel with the vehicle, it's always important to be properly guided. One more thing; are you talking about a brand new one or used?
As I said, my neighbour is currently searching for a Toyota to buy after experiencing first hand the cost, difficulty in getting spare parts & limited number of knowledgeable mechanics associated with such ownership, he's in a better position to make an informed decision. If it would be used as a lone vehicle, be prepared for it. Please, mind you, I have not said it's a bad vehicle to keep but you need to factor in cost of longtime ownership.
I doubt there's any car you would buy that people have not bought before, so when you say you want to be different from the rest, it sounds rather confusing. Being different by using a Kia? Perhaps, a story for another day. There's no day I don't see more than 30 to 40 Kia Sportage on the road.
Your research should focus on spare parts availability and mechanic rather than being unique on the road.

Thanks for your post.

My wanting a different brand is compared to the number Toyota products on the road. The Sportage I'm looking at is used, 2005 model and 86,000 milage. Your First, second and last paragraph did the job for me.

Need more views please.

@ OP, QUESTIONS

Why were you snooping on sister or what were you doing with her Phone?

Your sister and yourself, who is finer?

Have you done a similar thing to your sister and she want to pay you back?

Does sister know this dude is your man or is he irresistible?

Dumping the guy is fine but you need to know why it happened in the first place so that it doesn't repeat itself again. Answer those questions before i comment.

@ Poster, If you are male, you need to have your head examined for bringing this here but if you're female, then you can go and ask your father, brothers, uncle or any male relations for their opinion. This is utter nonsense. Rubbish!

Travel / Re: Our Experience At Nigerian High Commission London by AUSTAAI(m): 6:24pm On Aug 08, 2014
CaptainPhilip: I have been hearing about the ill treatment nigerians dish out to fellow nigerians at the high commission but little did I know that mine was just round the corner.

my wife who is a British citizen needed to apply for a Nigerain passport so she could attend her younger brother's wedding in Nigeria in September. now her Naija passport had expired so we thought that renewal is better than naija visa. we hopped out to London after several failed attempts to make a payment and secure a session at the embassy. Early this morning we arrived at London and made our way to the High commission on 9 Northumberland avenue.

When we got to the place its the usual naija flag flying high. lol. We were directed to enter through the back door which had security men. They asked us of our appointment letter which we failed to present because we could not book it online. He said we can't go in because we do not have an appointment. We explained that the site was difficult to navigate so he asked us to go to charing cross and do it at a cyber cafe which as you might guess is owned by a naija guy.

As we sat under a tree to see tHrough the site again, a young man approached and asked us if we needed help with the application and as my wife was about giving him a listening ear, i immediately said (as a sharp guy) don't worry we are fine so he left. A minute a latter another man said to me that if we want to get anything out of our mission today we had better go to the cyber cafe with him. Apparently he was taking a woman there so we followed.

on our way there, we asked the man why everything about Nigeria is always different even in a western world. he said that its so because the money when paid goes to Nigerian immigration in naija then the application goes to the high commission thats why it very difficult to navigate. on getting to the cyber cafe we met others we had same problems like ours so it was on a first come first serve basis. we waited for like an hour plus with the server going off and on on periodic intervals. we came to a conclusion that the cyber cafe is an affiliate of the high commission cos they charge you so much for a little help they render.

at the end, we were able to fill out the form and pay online. they gave us appointment for the 20th of august but the bros said if we go there showing them evidence that we came from far they could attend to us today and that since my wife is changing her maiden name to mine we would have to pay a charge of £40 for a postal order. this was paid for before we went back to the high commission. on arrival they asked us to get another postal order for £20. reasons known to them alone.

just at the submission desk, the lady attending to my wife said that I need to sign the letter of consent for my wife's change of name and the signature on my passport has to reflect what am signing.

Now the issue is that I renewed my Naija passport last year and the new passport which was done in Port Harcourt still carried my old signature that they transferred to the new passport. The woman insisted that I sign the exact thing on my passport but I explained that I signed that signature in 2008 and had changed it since then. Men see insult. She said she had never seen where they transfer signature from an old passport to new. That am I sure this passport is mine? she started raising her voice and I became a centre of attention. felt so pissed and nothing I said was reasonable and imagine a woman bringing a man down in front of his wife. I felt so humiliated and belittled and that if I can't sign the old one then the application will not be accepted or she will have to apply for a visa meaning we start the whole process again. I had to relearn the old signature and tried to do it as it appears. they reluctantly accepted and allowed us to proceed to the biometric section.

At the biometric section we waited and waited till it eventually got to our turn. as you already know, it says switch off your phone before you enter but imagine one of the ladies attending to people taking selfie. its a shame.

to my greatest surprise, a staff asked one of the applicants renewing his passport if he wants to transfer his old signature to the new passport he is applying for and he said yes. It this point, I felt like going back to give that young woman a very dirty slap but remembered i was in London.

NAIJA WHICH WAY..

I've heard about all that ill treatment from Naija person to Naija person but when my missus went to renew hers, to my greatest surprise, it was smooth sailing such that I had to double check if i was at the right place and i did everything online.

Your experience is not a strange one but you have to study the online thing very well or ring them up to guide you.

Most of us will complain the way we were treated but won't say how badly we behaved.

Respect yourselves whenever you go to our commission and it will be reciprocated. Treat the staff with respect and they will treat you well.

I had a wonderful experience when i went there, Its sad yours wasn't great. My sympathy shaa.

It's just a matter of weeks, this Ebola thing will fizzle out like every other virus and everyone will know that it was a mere gimmick and most importantly @ jpphilips is just a BASTARD. shocked for calling people names just because they aired their views. You can put your point across without damning your country for being a zoo or labelling your entire family as fools and morons. May you come in contact with Ebola. For your info: am making my way to quarantine to hug the so called Ebola victims and am disguised as a volunteer.

mryoungdon: EBOLA WAS CREATED IN THE LAB JUST TO MAKE BIG
MONEY FROM GOVERNMENTS ACROSS THE GLOBE..
"Don't be deceived Africans wake up stop acting like
fools".
They will go into the lab, invent a disease they claim has
no cure, they will come to Africa infect one or two persons
with it because they know its faster to spread it in
Africa, then they will be the first to tell us the name eg
HIV,EBOLA, governments across the world will donate
money to research which they will pocket because there's
no research they know the in and out of ït, making big
money from killing people.
Ask yourself, how come when a disease break in Africa
they are they first to tell us the precautionary measures to
put in place, if its a new disease like they claim how come
they know so much about it including the symptoms, since
when have they been carrying out this research to have
known all the symptoms and preventive measures to put
in place if they are not the ones that invented and injected
it into human, just to make us believe they will say it came
from monkeys, gorillas or ape, is it today we've been
coming in contact with monkeys and gorillas how come
they make us believe that all the disease that has no cure
come from these animals don't they have monkeys and
gorillas abroad if they do then why is it that it is always
because Africans came in contact with these animals is
why they were infected with diseases, even when we fully
know that they do all sorts with these animals even the
way we can't, they are the ones that kiss monkeys and
even have sex with them .. This disease are just like
system virus where someone will create a virus and anti
virus just to make big money from software companies
across the globe.. Don't be deceived EBOLA is one of
those virus created in the lab and infected on people just
to make big money inform of research from government
across the globe..
NB: you will hear the first person that die of these
diseases is an American but later you will hear no
American is having theses diseases but millions are dying
from it in Africa, its simple test it in America but spread it
in Africa to make big money from fools.

In addition to that, the West have seen growth in Africa's economy, all they are looking for is a way to truncate it and dictate for us or manufacture one disease to scare investors away.

Take it from me; THERE IS NOTHING LIKE EBOLA. We've seen worse than this in MALARIA, SARS, HIV/AIDS, MOUTH COW, BOKO HARAM e.t.c.

Everything bad comes from Africa while only good things comes from West just like they said JESUS is White and Satan portrayed black.

I will continue to shake and hug people and eat bush meat. Nothing dey happen.
