No need to pay another SEVIS fee. It's valid for one year.

DanteFixo:

Congrats, Please do I need to pay another sevis fee if my visa was denied and I want to reapply ?

After two denials, finally got approved by Window 21 today. Thanks to everyone who took out time to respond to my enquiries. This is one of the finest communities on the internet.

My advice to anyone who has been denied in the past:

1. Never give up. Just think of each obstacle as a temporary setback.
2. My average GPA and extra year didn't stop me from getting a partial scholarship - took GRE and TOEFL though.
3. Pay close attention to your financial documentation
4. Don't try to be 'too' perfect. "Too many lies spoils the soup". Not having to lie would probably give you peace of mind to sound confident.
5. F1 interview is just a conversation really. Don't cram stuff. No VO wants to interview a 'robot'.
6. I think there are no rules to this thing, work hard towards what you want and just leave luck to heaven.

Bro, checked your post from part 10, where you able to get any sort of funding from St cloud?
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by AusterHeights: 10:44am On Dec 01, 2017
Took 3 months for me to receive an admission decision. I PMed you.
k199192:

same school Bro. why did your admission decision take that long.?

modified: I think the timing is tight though. But you can give it a shot if you think you can beat the time. Is your i20 ready? If yes use eshipglobal to send it down, it takes a about 5 days. Before then, ask the school to tell you your sevis number and the school code. those are the info you need to fill your ds160 form and to book for the visa interview. When you get those info, quickly apply for your visa and pay for your sevis.

Hi guys,

I just got admitted (today) for Ms Applied Economics at St. Cloud State, Minnesota. I'm quite worried about the timing - is it too late to start processing my I-20 and Visa application? Orientation starts Jan 3. How long does it take to receive I-20 and get a visa appointment? I need your responses please.

Thank you! The problem here is that the first doc was 'sent' in March(according to Wes), and I think even our own NIPOST would have delivered since then. I have arranged for them to send it by courier; hopefully they'll do what I paid them for in the end. They are the most useless agency out there. Really bad experience for me.
richiepolymer:

Hmm. This WES issue can raise one's blood pressure at times. It may take at least 2-3 weeks for the photocopies to reach your school for verification. You need to have a reliable contact at your school's exams and records office or registrar's office to follow up so they can confirm when it has arrived. WES doesn't send or receive verification via e-mails. They do hard copies and they may not use priority mailing service. I had similar experience.
Education / Re: Am Having Issues With Wes by AusterHeights: 3:42am On Aug 02, 2017
Thanks for your response. It's WES USA. They've 'sent' mine twice now, gave them correct email address (as stated by school) the second time. What school is yours? Can we chat on WhatsApp

wykcool:

I'm still on it. After speaking with one of their CSRs last Friday I was told to ask the schools for an alternative email address where they can resend it. I contacted the schools again and sent it to WES yesterday Monday and followed it up with a call, but I was told it will take 3 working days to review the email addresses and get back to me.
Were your documents for WES USA or WES Canada? If it's USA, then it seems their is an issue with WES USA mail delivery to Nigeria as it doesn't take this much time for WES Canada mail to get delivered..."my observation so far"

.....saw your post on USA visa part 12 thread, we'll get there by HIS grace

Please i am in the same situation right now. How did you resolve this and how long did it take? Thanks

Pls how did you guys resolve this issue?? I am in the same situation right now. WES sent mail twice that they've sent it but my school confirmed they didn't receive anything in my name.
Education / Re: Am Having Issues With Wes by AusterHeights: 9:12pm On Aug 01, 2017
I am in the same situation right now, how were you able to resolve it? WES said they sent the docs to my school for verification but my uni here confirmed to me that they didn't receive anything in my name. Registrar's assistant even opened their email box for. E to read. Pls reply

wykcool:

This post is couple of months old now.
How did you go about it then ?
I am currently in the same situation.
After paying $302 for WES to evaluate my transcripts, they informed me just on 17/07/2017 that they have sent verification request to my schools after a week of receiving my documents. I am aware that WES sometimes send email for schools that make use of that for verification) and regular hardcopy mail too.
Please from your experience, it takes how many days/weeks for the regular hardcopy mail from WES to get to the school in Nigeria? I need to know this so that I can know when to go and sit on their neck in my schools so that they can verify and reply WES on time as I'm having less than 3weeks deadline for the school I'm applying to to receive the evaluation report from WES.
Thank you in anticipation

People of God please help!!!!
WES sent me a notice that they sent photocopies of my docs to my institution for verification in March but my school confirmed to me that they have not received anything from WES. The woman in charge at the registrars office even opened the email inbox and spam folder of address that they use to receive the docs from WES, we found nothing in my name. Disturbed about that info, I sent several emails to WES asking them to resend to my schoo(even stated the right email address), they confirmed to me yesterday that have sent the photocopies to my school again, but to my surprise my school confirmed to me this morning that they have not received anything yet again. Who has an idea of what is going on pls? I don't even know how to proceed from here. I paid for the course by course evaluation. Is it possible that WES did not send the photocopies of my docs through email? Someone help me pls

Your GRE was the deal breaker. How badly do you want this?

With that weak GPA, if you could get at least 168 on your GRE Quant, and at least a 160 on your Verbal, you'll boost your odds of getting in. Again, if you want this badly enough, you'll prep for the GRE to get those scores.

FYI, schools don't care how many times you
take the test. Just put your best foot forward.

Cheers!

Thank you. I will work towards improving my GRE score

I think your CGPA is too low for MA in Economics. You'd need lots of experince to make up for this. MA economics is very competitive. May be you should think of choosing another course closely related to MA economics.

Thank you. I appreciate your response here. Do you mean MBA or Agric Economics? Do suggest any pls

Hello house,
I applied to 5 schools for Fall 2017 and got denied by 3 of them, i had to send email to the remaining two schools to defer my application till Spring 2018 to enable me repackage my application(maybe rewrite GRE);

My Profile:
Course: MA Economics
CGPA: 2.5/5
GRE: V154/Q146(300)
TOEFL: 102

Status:

Illinois State University - denied
Cleveland State University - denied
Eastern Illinois State Uni - denied

SUNY - Buffalo State College - deferred application till Spring 2018
ST. Cloud State Uni - deferred application till Spring 2018

I don't know if i applied to the wrong schools or if the fact that i had extra year in the uni affected my application. I have since applied for WES evaluation. Please if anyone has info about schools that would accept me based on my profile, I'm interested. Hoping to hear from you guys please.

Its one thing to be desperate and another thing to be determined. I don't know much about the schools you listed but give it a shot by applying for positions (don't bother if they require 3.0 gpa minimum for the position). well just to encourage you, a buddy of mine who enrolled for masters at St. Cloud Uni this Fall, got a part-time (half) GA position recently, last week. When naira began to shake body, and he had outstanding tuition coupled with late fees, he got his game up. He met a Nigerian professor who knew another professor that needed a GA. the position was internal (it wasn't advertised) so my guy prepared his resume, applied and got shortlisted for the interview. Guess his gpa? 2.83 sad. He got the position!!. 60% Tuition bal cleared, just about 20% remaining. So whats the summary here? Yes, it will be difficult but being desperate wont get you funding. its good to cut your coat according to your size (I tell people this always), so even if you dont go in with funding, when you get to school, dont be downhearted, renew the vigor and you will achieve that which you seek!

I will not lie to you or sugar coat it...... ....its extremely difficult to get into grad school with this Gpa if this is the Us conversion. While there might be one or two schools out there. It would take a lot of research to find it ..that been said as a Nigerian i must add with prayers anything is possible as prayers have been proven to work so best advice you have to do that research to find that school and then pray pray pray that admissions will evaluate your application in its entirety

Thanks. So does it make better sense to apply for B.sc nursing or a BA outside my Graduate application.
