The all-new 2019 Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen a.k.a G-wagon, which you can now buy from dealers in Nigeria, marks the rebirth of an iconic off-roader that has been around since 1979.

Since its introduction 40 years ago, over 300,000 G-Wagons have left the factory. The boxy off-roader had its best sales year ever in 2018 by selling 22,000 units, with the majority going to the U.S and Germany.

According to a post on Dubai based W Motors' Facebook page, a Japanese businessman and car collector, Tetsumi Shinchi, has purchased the final five examples of the ten Fenyr SuperSport Launch Editions being built.

The Hypercar, which has a base price of $1.4 million ( ₦511m, minus the cost of shipping and clearing, was unveiled to the world in 2015.





Powering the Fenyr SuperSport is a 3.8-liter flat-six engine that pumps out a total of 800 hp and 722 lb-ft (980 Nm) of torque.

The supercar can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.7 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h) in 9.4 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 245 mph (395 km/h).

The Fenyr SuperSport is the latest HyperCar to be launched by W Motors, a limited edition with a production run of only 100 cars in addition to 10 “Fenyr SuperSport Launch Editions”.





The company’s first production Hypercar, the $3.4 million Lykan HyperSport, was capped at just seven units and according to sources, most of those remain unsold. One example is being used by Abu Dhabi's Police Department.

The question is -- Why would someone pay $7million (₦2.6 Billion) for the same kind of car?

We guess it is mainly as an investment -- Perhaps four of the super cars will kept in a safe place while the last one will be used on the road and track.

Motorbike hailing service, Gokada, has partially shut down operations to restrategize after its CEO faced operational hurdles during a ride.

According to the message sent to users on Wednesday, Gokada said:

"We are dedicated to rewriting the ills the motorcycle taxis represent. This has nudged us to take this compulsory break of 12 days which begins Today, Wednesday, August 14th 2019 to the 25th August 2019,”

“We will be back Monday, August 26th, with retrained drivers who are safety conscious, clean, courteous and are better with driving and navigation.

“Other features to expect include better traffic law-abiding pilots, brand new bikes amongst other things.

“We are deliberate in our commitment to revamping the narrative of transportation.”

In a medium post, Gokada CEO and Co-founder, Fahim Saleh, said he was disappointed when a trip of 5 mins turned out to take more than 15 mins from the Mainland Bridge to Victoria Island.

A vintage Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II, specially ordered to be used by British-American actress, Elizabeth Taylor, just sold at an auction in New York for $520,000 (₦189million).

The late actress purchased the custom “smoke green” color  1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II H.J. Mulliner Drophead Coupe, which she nicknamed the "Green Goddess" because of its distinctive color, soon after her marriage to Eddie Fisher and was brought to Rome for the filming of Cleopatra in 1962.







Elizabeth Taylor's marriage to Eddie Fisher didn't last, but she kept the Rolls-Royce for almost two decades, considerably longer than any of her eight marriages. 

The luxury ride, one of only 20 ever made, features a left hand drive, a 6.2 liter V-8 engine with 40,644 miles on the odometer, and the iconic Rolls Royce silver goddess hood ornament.

This sale comes five months after a vintage 1987 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur, specially armored to be used by Princess Diana during her official visit to the U.S. in 1990, sold at auction for US$45,250 (₦16.2 million).

For the first time in history, High-speed rail services was available to millions of muslim pilgrims who made their journey between the two Holy cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

The ₦2.8 trillion (£6 billion) Haramain High-Speed Rail (HHR) service, launched after the 2018 Hajj pilgrimage, runs between Mecca and Medina, and passes through three stations: Jeddah, King Abdul Aziz International Airport and King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh.



The high-speed trains are designed to travel at 300 kilometers per hour (186 mph) on electrified rails. It can cover the distance between the two Holy cities in just two hours, a road trip between the cities can take 5 hours during the normal period and 10 hours during Hajj.



There are 35 trains, each with 13 cars and 417 seats in two classes -- business and economy. The Haramain High-Speed Rail (HHR) line can manage about 60 million passengers a year. 

The hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. This year officially drew 2.49 million pilgrims to Islam’s holiest sites in Saudi Arabia.

Turkmenistan state television has shown the country's president, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, driving around the 'Gateway to Hell' since he disappeared from view last month, sparking rumours of his death.

An Anambra State-based pastor, Ejike Nwachukwu, has rejected ₦4million and a Sports Utility Vehicle offered to him by two suspected Internet fraudsters in exchange for prayers.

According to Punch, the suspected fraudsters had met Pastor Ejike Nwachukwu in his office to pray for the success of a deal they were to engage in.

When the pastor, a lawyer, studied them, he had to ask them of their source of income.

The Pastor revealed :

“Two young men came to my office the other day with ₦2m cash.

“They said it was seed offering and that they had a business they were looking forward to God to bless soon and that the money was seed offering.

“I looked at the two young boys with ₦2m. I asked them what business they were expecting and they said it was a deal and that they would bring more money to me once the deal paid off. They promised to buy me a SUV.

“I prayed and the Lord revealed to me that it was Internet fraud and I told them so and they confirmed it was true.

“I walked them out of my office, but one returned with an extra ₦2m in the hope that if the money was much, I would accept it, but I sent them out.”

The clergyman described those who indulged in Internet fraud as worse than armed robbers.

During a recent public unveiling of Russian-made Aurus Senat sedan and Limo, Russian minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said President Vladimir Putin gave a feedback to the designers of his new armoured official state car, Aurus Senat L700 Limo.

According to the cease and desist letter that fashion designer Philipp Plein recently received from Ferrari, Ferrari’s lawyers wants him to delete an Instagram post that showed his sneakers on the bonnets of his two parked Ferraris.

I mean the one that features a limited edition pair of Plein’s $800-plus PHANTOM KICK$ sneakers sitting atop of Plein’s $350,000-plus(₦127m+) green Ferrari 812 Superfast, with Ferrari’s word mark and legally-protected prancing horse logo front and center. 





The letter reads:

“Ferrari’s trademarks and model cars are associated in your pictures with a lifestyle totally inconsistent with Ferrari’s brand perception, in connection with performers making sexual innuendos and using Ferrari’s cars as props in a manner which is per se distasteful,”

“This behavior tarnishes the reputation of Ferrari’s brands and causes Ferrari further material damage,”

“In fact, the undesired connection between Ferrari’s trademarks on the one hand, and Philipp Plein’s line of shoes (and the questionable manner in which they are promoted) on the other hand, is interfering negatively with the rights enjoyed by Ferrari’s selected licensees which are exclusively entitled to use Ferrari’s trademarks to product and promote line of shoes Ferrari branded.”

The letter concluded by threatening legal action and demanding that Plein take down the post within 48 hours.



In his Instagram post on Monday, Plein, who has opted not to remove the images despite the threat from Ferrari, stated,
“I can’t even put in words how disappointed and disgusted I am about this unfair and totally inappropriate claim against me personally,” noting that he purchased his first Ferrari 10 years ago and remains a “good client” of Ferrari.

“If you want to continue treating your loyal clients with such letters from your lawyers, you will lose the support from many Ferrari fans.”

Plein concluded by saying:

French inventor Franky Zapata successfully crossed the 36Km English Channel on a jet-powered hoverboard on Sunday morning a week after his first attempt ended in failure.

Zapata departed from Sangatte in northern France and reached Saint Margaret's Bay, near Dover, in just 23 minutes, keeping an average speed of 87mph and stopping halfway to refuel his kerosene-powered flyboard.







To put that in perspective, driving time between Ikorodu and CMS bus stop, a distance of 35Km, varies between 70 and 95 mins.

The 40-year-old former jet ski champion fell into the sea while attempting to land on a small boat to refuel during his first attempt on 25 July. But this time around, the team used a bigger boat and a bigger platform.







He said:
"I'm feeling good, I'm just feeling very tired. We worked 16 hours per day to build a new fly boarder,"

“There were no problems this time. Thanks so much my team, and to my wife.”

Zapata became known as the "flying soldier" when he showed off his awesome invention to the world during France's Bastille Day military parade on July 14.

Chinese shipyard Jinlong has launched its flagship superyacht which was commissioned by World’s famous Kung Fu and Hollywood superstar, Jackie Chan, back in October 2017.

Dutch firm Mulder Design was tasked with designing the interior and exterior of the 150-foot all-aluminum yacht. There is no word on how much the cruiser -- which is said to feature amazing on-board amenities including a gym, beach club and six cabins for 12 guests -- costs.





Back in 2017, the Hollywood star took delivery of a 125-foot luxury vessel crafted by Chinese shipyard Ruiying Yachts. It features amazing amenities, including, hot tub, sauna, gym, helicopterdeck, karaoke room and a movie theater. One can only imagine what will be found on this newer and bigger superyacht. According to Forbes, Jackie, who is currently worth $350 million, has made about US$58 million so far this year.

During last week Sunday's rain-filled German Grand Prix, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing rewrote the record for the fastest pit stop ever seen in Formula 1, changing all the four tyres on the RB15 Formula One car in just 1.88 seconds.

This new record time from Aston Martin smashed the previous record it sets two weeks ago at the British Grand Prix by three one-hundredths of a second (0.03s), when the team completed a 1.91-second stop.

Red Bull said:

“That was the reason for sending our Chief Mechanic, Phil Turner, up to collect the Constructors’ Trophy, as he did an amazing job.”

The previous F1 record belonged to Williams, which pulled off a 1.92-second stop at the 2016 European Grand Prix in Azerbaijan.

In addition to setting a new fastest pit stop record and executing five of the ten fastest stops in the race, Red Bull's driver, Max Verstappen, also won the race after Lewis Hamilton crashed from the lead on lap 27.

Last week's race was the eleventh race of twenty-one of the 2019 Formula One World Championship.

Now we have the real Flying "B" as Bentley Motors on Wednesday announced the addition of 120,000 honeybees to two massive Bentley-branded hives at its factory in Crewe, England.

Bentley says that amount of bees is capable of producing about 30 kilograms of honey, or an equivalent of 100 jars of honey out of the farm per year.

A spokesman for the luxury automaker said:

"Bee populations are in decline in the UK, so installing two hives to help boost biodiversity is a great way to make use of the grassland at the edge of the site"

"Our 'flying bees' are honeybees that have been bred by local beekeepers with over 50 years' experience. With their help, we're checking on them every week and it's great to see that they're already starting to produce the first Bentley honey."

A retired businessman just splashed a whopping £287,792 (or ₦126 million) on the personalised registration "IG 1" at a DVLA auction in the Vale of Glamorgan.

This number plate, which costs the same price as some high-end supercars, is the third most expensive number plate in UK after 25 0 and 1 D which cost £518,000 in 2014 and £285,000 in 2009 respectively.



The buyer Ian Guest, who revealed that he spent so much because it was the ‘ultimate registration’ for his initials, said the special plate will be put on his Bentley Continental GT Speed. 2019 GT Speed starts at ₦83million.

"It was incredible,"

"When the price went to £100,000 everything really became a haze.

“My wife Pamela expected me to pay between £240,000 and £260,000 but I never thought it would go so high."

The hammer price for the number plates was £220,000 but several premiums and VAT caused it to rise to £287,792.

The £7.25m “1” number, owned by Abu Dhabi businessman Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, is the most expensive registration plate. 11 months ago, a Rolls-Royce owner also paid ₦217million (£460,000) for a ultimate “RR1” registration plate at an auction.

Japanese automotive company, Honda, has released some new images and a teaser video that takes you inside the Honda E prototype to check out its dual 12.3-inch touchscreens.

The menu has a similar style to Honda's current touch UI, but with two 12.3-inch touchscreens for the driver and passenger to play with.







It is designed for easy use by both driver and passenger, even if they're in separate apps. It's very customizable, with a quick swipe to add or remove shortcut items.

The whole dashboard consists of two 12.3-inch touchscreens in the centre for the infotainment, an 8.8-inch screen right in front of the driver, and two six-inch mirrors on the edges of the dash to show live images from the external camera mirrors.



The Honda E compact electric car is part of the brand’s strategy to feature electrified technology in all cars it sells by 2025. According to Honda, more than 36,000 people have expressed interest in buying the upcoming 2020 all-electric car.

World's biggest automotive market, China, has commenced the export of used cars to Africa, Asia and Europe, with Nigeria among the destinations for the first batch of 300 cars.

According to China’s Ministry of Commerce, the first batch of the 300 exported used cars, which comprises brands from Land Rover, Toyota, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Trumpchi, King Long, Yutong, Zhongtong and WOHO, have a total value of $2.5 million.

They second hand cars are being taken to destinations that include the Lagos port (Nigeria), Sihanoukville Autonomous port (Cambodia), Rangoon Port (Myanmar) and Vorsino and Saint-Petersburg ports (Russia).



Until now, the world's biggest automotive industry had been uninvolved in selling used cars abroad. A statement obtained from China’s Ministry of Commerce, said:

“Although trade in new cars in China last year almost doubled the 13.82 million used cars figure, trading volume of used cars in developed countries, in comparison, was about two times that of new car sales.

“China is hoping to key into this yawning advantage lying beyond its borders. It is estimated that used car exports may fetch about 60 billion Yuan for China in export value if the market is fully opened up. It is also expected the trade would generate higher auto parts and maintenance service exports.

“With all processes done, the first used cars export business in China finally sailed at Nansha Port, Guangzhou, on July 17, 2019 marking a new milestone and economic significance for China’s automobile industry”

Commuters on Monday woke up to road closures and diverted trains across UK after parts of Greater Manchester were hit with two weeks worth of rain in 24 hours.

There were 20 flood warnings in place across north-west England on Monday morning, affecting parts of south Manchester, Rochdale and the Yorkshire market towns of Todmorden and Hebden Bridge.







Met Office warned that more thunderstorms could spark life-threatening floods, travel chaos and blackouts across Britain, following a weekend of heavy downpours.

The weather forecasters also warned there could be more delays and cancellations to trains and buses as well as chances of homes and businesses getting flooded quickly.







Lots of cars were damaged due to the floods, including a Lamborghini that crashed on the M66 after losing control in standing water.

Temperatures are also expected to nosedive to around just 18C – a week after the country endured its hottest day ever with a high of 38.7C (101.66F). The temperature beat the previous record of 38.5C set in Faversham, Kent, in 2003.

Bentley has rolled out the Flying Spur First Edition, a special edition model based on the 2020 Flying Spur that was revealed just last month.

The first example of the rare Flying Spur First Edition was sold on July 24 to an anonymous bidder at a charity auction for $780,000 (₦281m), with all the proceeds going to pop star sir Elton John (pictured below at the event with his husband, the Canadian filmmaker, David Furnish) AIDS Foundation.



For comparison, the old Bentley Flying Spur W12 started at $224,500 (₦81m), while the 2020 version will start around $230,000 (₦83m).

The First Edition models will only be available for the first 12 months of Flying Spur production, so buyers have just one year to buy one of these special edition models.





In addition to features like illuminated and retractable Flying B emblem--similar to Rolls-Royce's famous Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, and James Bond-style three-faced rotating 12.3-inch infotainment screen, the First Edition model has unique touches including an exterior badge, front facia badge, Union Jack flag with the number one in the center, winged emblems embroidered into the headrests, and 22-inch Mulliner Driving Specification alloy wheels.





Like the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur, the special edition is powered by a 6.0-liter twin turbo W12 engine that makes 626 horsepower and 605 pound-foot of torque.

The engine will take the Bentley Flying Spur from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds while its 207-mph top speed makes it the world's fastest production sedan ever, surpassing the 205-mph Alpina B7.

We have seen the latest Suzuki Jimny face different versions of the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-wagon in many ways ever since the boxy two-door off-roader made its global debut last year.

The Japanese mini-SUV, which gained global popularity due to its resemblance (after tweaking) to iconic German machine that is ten times its price, has faced the Merc on an off-road race with the former losing.

The 100hp Jimny was able to beat the 577hp G-Class in a tug of war, but this time with assistance from two other Jimnys, for the simple reason that together they’re heavier and 12 wheels have more traction than four.



So, what about a drag race between AMG G63 and the Jimny? Yes, the more powerful AMG G63 would surely win. What about drag racing the two, but this time, with the German SUV having a trailer on its rear.

To do this, Top Gear put a 2,500 pounds (1,135 kilograms) Suzuki Jimny on a trailer that has been attached to the German machine.

This amazing motorised shed, christianed the Fastest Shed, is the brainchild of British mechanic and gardener Kevin Nicks of Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.

The vehicle, which started as a volkswagen Passat-based car, has been used to break the world land speed record for sheds three times since it was built in 2015.





The most recent speed of 101.581 mph (163.479 km/h) was set on 23 September 2018 at Pendine Sands in Wales.

The Fastest Shed's original build was based on a Volkswagen Passat 4Motion, including its 190 bhp (140 kW) engine. The whole project cost £5,000.

Later, the engine power was increased to 265 bhp (198 kW) by fitting it with a nitrous oxide injection kit.





For the September 2018 record attempt, Nicks spent two years and £8,000 fitting the car with a new suspension system and a more powerful 400 bhp Audi RS4 (B5) engine.

The current version carries an engine used in the B7 generation RS4, producing 450bhp. It is also fitted with air suspension.

Yesterday, during the 110th anniversary to mark Louis Bleriot's first airplane flight across the English Channel on July 25 1909, French inventor, Franky Zapata attempted to make the 22-mile crossing on his jet-powered flyboard --- but failed.

The former jet-ski champion, who received widespread attention when he took to the skies during France military display on his futuristic flyboard earlier this month and also outran a Lamborghini Huracan, had been hoping to cross from northern France to southern England in just 20 minutes.

About 15 minutes after takeoff from Sangatte, in northern France, the 40-year-old fell into the water while trying to land on a small boat to refuel his flyboard.

The uninjured Zapata, who was around 11 miles from the finish line at St Margaret's Bay, England, is planning a second bid to fly across the Channel next week.

He told the press conference:

"I could see the British borders,"

“We should have done a takeoff and landing test, but we were not allowed”

"When I got closer to the platform, the boat took a wave and it hit the foot of the machine and broke it"

Right now, he plans to find a bigger boat that he can land on to refuel his invention. His ₦90 million jet-powered hoverboard, which is about the size of a skateboard, is powered by five small jet engines and fuelled by kerosene which is kept in the rider's backpack.

The government of the Philippines on Tuesday crushed a Ferrari 360 Spider supercar that was wrongly declared as auto parts by its owner in order to avoid payment of the right taxes.

According to reports, the Italian luxury sports car, which is estimated to be worth about $137,000 (₦49 million), had arrived in May with some missing parts so that it could apparently avoid taxes associated with importing automobiles.





This is not the first time that the government will publicly destroy supercars in its quest to eradicate smuggling and tax evation.

A year ago, the Philippine Government, under the watchful eye of controversial President Rodrigo Duterte, used a heavy construction equipment to crush 68 seized luxury cars, including Lamborghinis, Porsches, Mustangs and eight motorcycles, that is worth over ₦2 billion.

A similar exercise was carried out in March last year which saw the demise of Maserati Quattroporte, a BMW B12 Alpina, a Porsche 911 GT3, a BMW Z1, an Opel Manta, a Renault R5, and a two-door Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen.

Importing used cars into the Philippines is highly regulated and highly taxed in order to help strengthen the local auto industry.

Lamborghini has introduce 5 new Huracan "follow me" cars at the Bologna Guglielmo Marconi International Airport to guide planes to the runway and help them take off.

In addition to the welcome note and the "FOLLOW ME" that is printed across its doors, the new Lamborghini also comes with livery which consists primarily of matte grey paint with yellow accents that is meant to catch the attention of pilots. It is also equipped with a flashing light bar on the roof.



The low body of the supercar allows it to slip beneath the wings and bodies of planes on the ground and each driver wears a branded Lamborghini uniform.

Responsible for the design is Lamborghini’s in-house Centro Stile design facility. The rear-wheel driven Huracan LP580-2 RWD model is powered by a 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine that can achieve 0-62mph (0-99kmh) in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of almost 200mph (321kmh).



A total of five special 'follow me' cars have been in operation since 2013. Each are equipped with a set of flashing lights, warning signs, and a radio linked to the airport control tower.

The Italian supercar maker currently has a green Lamborghini Aventador SVJ and yellow Lamborghini Urus on display at one of the airport's terminals.
