Uber has launched a new feature, called Women Preferred View, that lets women drivers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia choose to pick up women passengers only .

The new feature came into force this month after a 2018 Uber survey in Saudi Arabia showed that 74% of female drivers were only interested in driving women.

The effort is part of a broader push by Uber to cater for women drivers in the region. Women in the oil-rich Islamic country gained the right to drive for the first time in June 2018.

The Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC)  on Wednesday said motorists driving against traffic would be subjected to a psychiatric test.

Mr Clement Oladele, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota.

According to him, any driver caught driving against traffic during the forthcoming Easter would also be prosecuted for dangerous driving.

The sector commander further said that such erring drivers were liable to pay N50,000 as fine or risk imprisonment.

“FRSC is hereby warning motorists against such nefarious acts in order to check loss of lives and property, ”

Oladele also said the FRSC had embarked on a special patrol for the Easter to reduce the discomfort of motorists travelling during the festival.

He said that the command had reached an agreement with the construction company, Julius Berger Plc, to open the barricaded section of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in order to ease vehicular movement.

Oladele further said that FRSC personnel would keep vigil at strategic locations to check the excesses of motorists during the Easter.

He implored motorists to maintain their vehicles and plan well ahead of their trips while refraining from night journeys.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday urged World's biggest aircraft maker Boeing Co to fix and rebrand its best-selling aircraft, the 737 MAX jetliner, following two fatal crashes. But the planemaker said it was focussed on fixing the problem and brainstorming over next steps to win back public trust. 

In an early-morning post on Twitter, the aviation enthusiast, who owned the Trump Shuttle airline from 1989 to 1992 , weighed in with his own advice.

“What do I know about branding, maybe nothing but I did become President.

“But if I were Boeing, I would FIX the Boeing 737 MAX, add some additional great features & REBRAND the plane with a new name.

“No product has suffered like this one, but again, what the hell do I know?”

Trump issued the tweet as US Boeing tries to restore trust in its fastest-selling jet, the main source of profits and cash at the Chicago-based planemaker which has won some 5,000 orders or around seven years of production for the aircraft.

But CEO of Brand Finance, a UK-based consultancy that tracks the value of global brands, rejected the idea that Boeing should abandon the MAX brand but said its corporate reputation was in the firing line.

“This has without a doubt damaged Boeing’s reputation and we foresee a dent to the Boeing brand’s value at over 12 dollars billion"

He added that Toyota and others had recovered from similar high-profile crises without a drastic rebranding exercise.

Founder of marketing and advertising firm DXagency, Benjamin Hordell, said just renaming the plane alone was not enough.

He said:

“People will look at it and know that it’s the Boeing 737 MAX under a different name.

“To rebrand without making sure the product is safe, and undergoing another crash with the same airplane under a new name and image could destroy Boeing".

Paul Caiozzo, founder and Chief Creative Officer of brand design agency Interesting Development, also said:

“It is premature to begin to talk about rebranding a plane that has not yet been fixed"

According to Brand Finance, Boeing has the world’s most valuable aerospace brand, with the value of its overall corporate image rising 61 per cent to 32 billion dollars in 2018.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the second generation Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. The three-row GLS, designed to competes with the BMW X7, is longer and wider than the car it replaces.It is currently the largest SUV Mercedes makes.

The 2020 GLS comes in two versions . The entry-level 450 model uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, producing 362 horsepower while the more-powerful 483hp GLS 580 gets a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with EQ Boost hybrid technology .

Both GLS models come paired to the same nine-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive that gives them the ability to move from zero to 60 miles per hour in 5.9 and 5.2 seconds respectively.They both have an electronically limited top speed of 130 miles per hour.







Inside, the 7-passenger luxury SUV features Mercedes's new MBUX infotainment system with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with navigation. Other standard features include a Burmester surround sound system, inductive wireless charging, 64-color ambient lighting, nine USB ports, and Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.





The GLS also shares a lot in common with the GLE visually , such as the same dual chrome grille bars and centrally located Mercedes-Benz logo carry over.

The GLS 450 gets standard 19-inch wheels, while the GLS 580 gets larger 21-inch wheels. An AMG Line and a Night Package are also available on the 580.

The 2020 GLS is expected to reach the dealership before the end of the year.

The Federal Road Safety Corps on Saturday cautioned its officers against chasing erring motorists no matter the traffic offence committed.

The FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem, gave the warning in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Kazeem, who was reacting to media reports of an accident on Friday, April 12 in Ibadan following a chase by FRSC officers, noted that the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, frowned at the incident.

Kazeem told NAN that:

“The Corps Marshal, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, condemned the act as it is our rule that officers should not chase any erring motorist.

“Rather the vehicle number should be taken and the offender will in no time be arrested through our drivers’ licence portal.

“As a paramilitary agency, investigation must be carried out and if the officers are found guilty, they will be dealt with accordingly,”

Stratolaunch, the private spaceflight company founded by the late billionaire Paul Allen, has flown its gigantic Roc aircraft for the very first time on Saturday.

The dual-fuselage rocket carrier, which took off from the Mojave Air and Space Port in California , completed a roughly 150 minutes ( 2 ½ hours) journey, reaching a maximum speed of 175 miles per hour and a peak altitude of 15,000 feet.





The test flight makes the the 500,000-pound plane with a 385-foot wingspan -- length of an American football field, the world's largest aircraft to fly.

With two fuselages and six Boeing 747 engines,the Stratolaunch is built to launch rockets into orbit from the air. It has the ability to carry rockets up to about 35,000 feet , where it can drop rockets that ignite their engines and boost themselves into orbit around the planet. 

The advantage of such a system is that the carrier-plane can take off from any runway that's long enough to accommodate it, fly around bad weather as well as launch a satellite into any orbital inclination.

The Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA, yesterday said it has pulled down 30 out of the 80 distressed buildings marked for demolition on Lagos Island.

General Manager, LASBCA, Mr. Olalekan Shodehinde, told the News Agency of Nigeria, that the demolition would come in phases because some of the buildings are subjects of litigation.

He said the demolished buildings were located at Elegbata Street, Apongbon; Tokunbo Street, by Glover; Inabiri Street, Egatin Street, Ojo Giwa and John Street, among others.

Shodehinde said that the 80 buildings were marked for demolition following the collapse of a three-storey building on March 13 at Ita Faji area of Lagos Island in which 20 people were killed.

The LASBCA boss said:

“The motive is to sanitize and rid Lagos of distressed and dilapidated buildings in a bid to stem the era of building collapse in the state.

“But presently, nothing is happening at the area and the demolition is suspended waiting for the report of the investigation committee"

He said the agency was working to formalise the processes that would facilitate official collaboration with professional bodies and non-governmental organisations in the fight against building collapse.

“Before now, there exist some informal collaborations, but with the current formalisation process which is still at the proposal stage, the collaboration will become stronger and officially recognised too"

Shodehinde appealed to residents and all stakeholders to assist government to actualize its objective of creating a safer Lagos by reporting noticed substandard building constructions and dilapidated structures within their locality to the agency for necessary actions.

Japan's Toyota Motor Corp says it will allow other automakers to use 23,740 of its hybrid-vehicle patents in a bid to drive industry uptake of hybrids cars as well as fending off the challenge of all-battery electric vehicles.

What this means is that Toyota will supply fellow automakers with hybrid vehicle techs and components such as fuel cells, electric motors, power control units (PCU), system controls, power converters, engine transaxles, chargers and batteries used in its lower-emissions hybrid vehicles,for free.

The patents will be available for free use until 2030. Toyota had previously licensed its hybrid technology to automakers like Nissan, Mazda and Subaru.

The Japanese automaker is currently the most prolific maker and seller of hybrid vehicles in the world, with about 80 percent of the market.



Since the debut of its first hybrid car, the Prius in 1997 , the automaker has sold more than 13 million hybrid vehicles.It currently offers hybrid versions of seven different models including three types of Prius.

Toyota's move to share its technologies with other automakers underlines its belief that hybrids are an effective alternative to all-electric vehicles, given a fuel efficiency roughly double that of petrol powered cars, lower cost and that they do not need charging infrastructure.

Nigerian exporters have raised the alarm that cashew nuts valued at $300m (₦108billion) have been trapped at the Lagos Ports and called on the federal government to come to their aid by addressing the challenges of congestion and inefficiency at Lagos’ ports, which have affected exports.

The exporters said gridlock and inefficiency at the ports of Nigeria’s commercial hub, Lagos, delayed shipment of 50,000 tonnes of cashew nuts and is threatening this year’s output as traders are cash-strapped.

President of Nigeria Cashew Exporters Association, Tola Fasheru told Bloomberg.com that the fruits from last year’s harvest should have been exported by January.

He said:

“Instead, they are still in containers on trucks waiting to enter the ports or on wharves"

“Roads to Lagos ports are badly congested, with hundreds of lorries queuing to enter the premises and either deliver or pick goods. In addition, inadequate capacity and infrastructure, stifling red tape and corruption are hampering export processes"

“There is a palpable lack of synergy among the port operators and this is affecting the business of our members"

Some members of the cashew association, he added, have defaulted on contracts to the extent that foreign buyers are now walking away from them.

He continued :

“They are no longer willing to give us fresh contracts,” said the group’s president. The delay is likely to affect the output target of 260,000 tonnes for the current season, which started in February and will end in July.

“Not one single cashew exporter is in the field now as he is owing on contracts and as a result has no money to operate with"

A street-legal Ford GT has officially 
broken the 300 mph barrier in the standing mile, beating the Hennessey,Bugatti and Koenigsegg Hypercars to the feat. 

The M2K Motorsports modified Ford GT broke the 300mph barrier on the last of its three runs at a standing-mile (within a mile run) event at Texas Victoria Regional Airport last weekend, hitting 300.4mph before deploying its parachute and hitting the brakes.



To put that in context , a Bugatti Chiron requires almost three miles to hit its limited top-speed of 261mph.

According to the event's sensors, the GT was going 174.5 mph after a quarter mile and 240 mph at the half-mile mark,before hitting the record-shredding 300.4mph.




This same Ford GT hit a record 293.6 mph in 2017.It is now powered by a twin-turbocharged version of the standard 5.4-liter V8 engine that gives over 2000 horsepower at the wheels and roughly 2500 horsepower at the crank (no dyno can measure it properly).

Before this feat by a 14-year-old Ford GT, both Koenigsegg and Hennessey were aiming for the 300mph barrier with their latest multi-million dollar cars, the Jesko 300 and the Venom F5.

The owner of a grey Lamborghini Huracan Performante, who was trying to impress the crowd while leaving a supercar meet in London ,ended up crashing his 640 horsepower supercar into a tree and brick walls. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the accident.

French custom automaker, Lazareth ,has revealed a video of its flying motorbike that can take you from the road to the sky in just 60 seconds. The roadworthy bike ,named Lazareth LMV 496 and dubbed La Moto Volante (The Flying Bike) , is the first motorcycle in the world that can be transformed into a quadricopter.



It can easily avoid the mind-boggling type of traffic found on major highways in Nigeria by simply pulling over to a suitable launch area. Pressing a button converts the bike from ride to fly mode in about 60 seconds.

The bike was publicly tested hovering in air while being tied to a platform for safety reasons.

Swedish automaker Volvo wants to keep you alive if you’re distracted, drunk, fall asleep or have heart attack by monitoring you with an in-car camera.

Starting from 2021,all Volvo models will come fitted with cameras that will be able to take control of the car and park it if it believes the driver is drunk or distracted .

Sensors will be able to check if the driver has driven for an extended period of time without the steering control ,while cameras behind the windscreen will measure if the driver is not looking at the road or have their eyes closed completely. 

If the car detects that a driver might be drunk, tired or in any other way unfit to drive, it will intervene in an effort to prevent an accident.

The onboard camera is one of Volvo's three Vision 2020 safety pledge to eliminate road accident fatalities in its cars.

In addition to cameras , it will also offer customers a new "Care Key" that allow them to set a maximum top speed for the vehicle when they lend it to younger members of their family or friends.

Volvo said:

"We believe that a car maker has a responsibility to help improve traffic safety.

"Our recently announced speed limit fits that thinking and the Care Key is another example. 

"Many want to be able to share their car with friends and family, but are unsure about how to make sure they are safe on the road. The Care Key provides one good solution and extra peace of mind"

The Nigerian Air Force says it will take delivery of Augusta 109 Power helicopter from Italy soon, to strengthen its arsenal for the fight against insurgency in the North-West.

Abubakar said that acquisition of the military helicopter was part of renewed efforts of Federal Government to ensure that there was security in the North-West.

He said that the focus was particularly in Zamfara, Sokoto and Kaduna states, where a new detachment had been approved by the Air Force Council.

“We have already provided landing facilities there for helicopters and we have also provided fuelling facilities for the aircraft,” he said.

Abubakar disclosed that NAF was currently reactivating five of its aircrafts, adding that “3L 39 Live Extension Programme’’ was on in Kano and “MI 35 Live Extension Programme’’ in Port Harcourt.

“I believe this methods substantially add to our capacity to boost these assets and make Nigeria secure.

“Similarly, on reactivation, three helicopters in Kanji are being overhauled. We have paid substantially for it and very soon, I believe by September this year, we will have those three helicopters flying.

“So, I think in terms of acquisition and reactivation of aircraft, the service has equally been successful"

The expected US$ 6.3m ( ₦2.3b ) AgustaWestland Power helicopter is a twin-engine, eight-seat multi-purpose helicopter. It is the fastest helicopter in its class .

Get the right angles. Push your bottom as close to the back of the sit as you can.

Make sure all your back is touching the seat.

4) Seat



Start adjusting the back of the sit so your spine and pelvis are straight.

5) Thighs



Your thighs should be at rest on the sit and you shouldn't be able able to feel any pressure points.

6) Pedals



Change the distance from the pedals so that your knee is slightly bent when the pedals are fully down.

7) Elbows



Your elbow should be slightly bent while reaching for the steering wheel.

Shoulders

The Rolls Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga may be getting some competition from an upcoming SUV in the form of Aston Martin Lagonda All-Terrain Concept.

This All-electric SUV concept that debuted at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show shares architecture and key components with Vision Concept sedan showcased last year. It previews a production version of the Lagonda SUV that will go into production in St Athan, Wales, in 2022.





Aston Martin said the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept took some of its initial design language from the world of the super yacht the same way that the exterior design of the Vision Concept took some of its inspiration from Concorde jet.

The surfacing is incredibly futuristic, with forms and shapes that look like they have been created by the huge, planetary forces of gravity fields.





The SUV shares the Rolls-Royce-like suicide-style rear-opening doors with the Vision Concept saloon to help access to the interior.

Inside, the new Aston Martin SUV conceptual has a swept-back sports car-like design language that is tempered by some more robust elements to the door sills and seating.





The Lagonda All-Terrain Concept is larger, obviously, and boxier than the Vision Concept, but retains the narrowed rear quarter and fast, tilt-forward design language of the car.

Aston Martin said :

"We wanted the technology in the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept to bring a sense of personality to the vehicle"

"Just as with the materials and the exterior design, the technology should be warm and involving rather than cold and impersonal. This is the future and it should be something that people are inspired and delighted by rather than perplexed and frightened by"

According to Aston Martin,the Lagonda SUV could see production as early as 2022.

Meet the all new 2021 Tesla Model Y, the electric car-company's second SUV and it's fifth production car ever. The seven-seater SUV completes Tesla's S-3-X-Y (SEXY-lol) naming conventions.

During the unveiling at Tesla's Los Angeles design studio,Elon Musk said the SUV was designed with "safety as the number one goal" and that its "very low center of gravity' will be "great for handling". 





Like the Model 3 (with which it shares 75% of its parts and a chassis), the SUV comes with panoramic glass roof and Autopilot features but lacks the gullwing doors that were previously seen on the Model X. 



The Long Range version offers a promised 300 miles of real world range, while the Performance will run from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

The Standard Y has impressive will go 230 miles of range on a single charge and do a 0-60 mph run in sub six-second.

Pricing starts at $39,000 for the Standard version while the the Long Range will cost $47,000.The Dual Motor AWD will cost $51,000 while the Performance version will cost $60,000.

Honda has been forced to recall 1.1 million vehicles to re-replace a faulty Takata airbag inflator that may rupture upon deployment.

All vehicles involved in this recall were previously repaired using a certain Takata airbag inflator (model PSDI-5D). Many of the initial fixes still contain dangerous parts that could result in explosions.

An investigation revealed that these inflators  experienced a manufacturing process error that allowed moisture to enter the inflators during the assembly – very similar to the problem that caused the Takata airbag recall in the first place.

Honda is now encouraging all owners of affected vehicles to schedule a repair at an authorized Honda dealer ASAP. All repairs will be performed free of charge.

With this recall, Honda says the total number of recalled Takata inflators is approximately 21 million units, with around 12.9 million Honda and Acura vehicles so far .

The recall, is part of a larger recall of Takata airbags, which can throw shrapnel if they explode after deteriorating over time due to heat and humidity. The issue has resulted in at least 23 deaths and hundreds of injuries.

Airlines in multiple countries, including China and Ethiopia,have suspended the use of Boeing's new 737 MAX 8 aircraft over concerns about its safety, after an Ethiopian Airlines flight of the same model crashed shortly after take-off Sunday killing all 157 on board.

On Monday, China ordered its domestic airlines to suspend commercial operation of nearly 100 of the jets in question. Ethiopian Airlines followed China's announcement by grounding all of its Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft as well, according to a spokesperson. 

The crash, that took place just outside Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa, comes just months after another deadly accident of that same model in Indonesia when a Lion Air flight crashed after take-off from Jakarta in October, killing all 189 people on board.

Two Nigerians,Nigerian-born Canadian professor and writer, Pius Adesanmi, and Ambassador Abiodun Bashua, a former Joint Special Representative for the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur, Sudan, were among victims .

China ,which has one of the world's largest fleets of Boeing 737 MAX 8, operating 97 of the planes, said its domestic airlines have until 6pm local time (10:00 GMT) today to ground all 737 MAX 8 aircrafts.

Most of us associate Honda with generators, cars and motorcycles, but the Japanese automaker can also help you travel through the air. Its HondaJet Elite - which costs from $5.25 million (~₦1.9 billion) , is among the surprising things made by famous car companies from all over the world.

First unveiled in May 2018, the Elite is an updated version of the twin-engine Honda HA-420 HondaJet. It has a top speed of 486 miles-per-hour and will fly a range of 1,437 nautical miles on a single tank of fuel .

The aircraft maintains its capacity of up to seven occupants (1 crew + 6 passengers or 2 crew + 5 passengers) with the addition of a belted lavatory.











The plane's 12-foot-long cabin features a kitchen area complete with a coffee maker, four plush leather seats,built-in Wi-Fi, veneered tables and a private toilet.



The HondaJet Elite,which the company described as "the fastest, furthest and highest-flying plane in its class",is now being delivered to customers globally.

Russian automaker and the maker of Vladimir Putin's armoured Limo, Aurus ,has revealed the hulky luxurious Senat Limousine L700 at the ongoing Geneva Motor show.

While the one on display may not be as secure as Putin's Bunker on Wheels, the L700 at Aurus stand still come in a seven-ton armored version and an unarmored model.



The 21.7 feet (6,630 mm) long Limo has a massive 14.1 feet (4300 mm) wheelbase thar dwarf the  Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase.



Also on display is the Aurus sedan that measures 18.4 feet (5630 mm) long and a wheelbase that spans 10.8 feet (3300 mm).

Aurus CEO Hilgert Franz Gerhard said:

“We decided to go to the Europen convention in Geneva because the Geneva Motor Show, I personally know from my business experience, is a show where you can really present luxury brands and luxury vehicles,”

” We are not mainstream. We are doing something surprising because nobody expected a luxury brand from Russia.”

Like the Mercedes Maybach, Bentley and Rolls-Royce, Aurus also offers an extensive personalization service which enables the super rich to customize virtually every aspect of the interior.





Aurus is aiming to start sales in Europe next year. Its spokesperson said pricing wouldn't be announced until next month.
