Did you know that American Honda relied on fleet of Chevrolet Apache 10 pickup trucks to deliver motorcycles to its dealers back in 1959?

And to celebrate its 60 years of doing business in United States, the automaker decided to restore a 1961 Chevrolet Apache 10 pickup that the brand used to hand-deliver its bikes to dealers in southern California

Though Chevrolet and Honda may be rivals in the automarket and on race tracks today, those Chevrolet trucks according to Honda's press release, were critical in turning the company into the hottest-selling motorcycle brand in the U.S. within a short period of time.





To properly recreate the classic photo that Honda took in front of its headquarters in Los Angeles in 1961, the company also put a pair of its restored vintage CB160 and Honda 50 motorcycles at the back of the pickup truck to haul.



American Honda also announced on Tuesday that it would be taking the restored Chevrolet to SEMA, along with the vintage CB160 and Honda 50 scooter, to celebrate 60 years on doing business in the United States.

UK-based international air transport rating agency "Skytrax" has named Qatar Airways as the World's Best airline for the year 2019.

Last years winner, Singapore Airlines, known for running the world's longest flight, took second spot while Japanese ANA All Nippon Airways came third.

Qatar Airways, which became the first airline to win the award 5 times following their previous wins in 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2017, also won awards for the World's Best Business Class, World's Best Business Class Seat and Best Airline in the Middle East.

Last years winner Singapore Airlines also won the awards for the World's Best Cabin Crew, World's Best First Class, Best Airline in Asia and World's Best First Class Seat.

The 2018/2019 Skytrax annual rankings were based on the impressions of over 21 millions airline passengers from over 100 countries.

Turkey has submerged a decommissioned Airbus A330 aircraft in the Gulf of Saros in the northern Aegean Sea in a bid to create artificial reefs and attract diving tourists.

After being towed by large rubber boats to the spot where it was submerged, the boats were then deflated to allow the huge plane, believed to be the world's largest airplane ever submerged for diving tourism, sink 30 meters below the sea surface.





It took about four hours for the crews to sink the 90-ton passenger plane. First diving took place on June 15, just a day after the passenger plane was lowered into the sea. The divers took footage of the sunk plane, which has a length of 65 meters and wing width of 60 meters.  



Turkish government said:

"With this project, the aim is to increase the underwater biodiversity off the coast of Kusadası and to further develop underwater tourism in the area. We expect some 250,000 domestic and foreign tourists per year to come here for diving"

The decommissioned aircraft, which made its first flight in 1995 and bought for just $100k or N36 million - after being retired last year, was brought to Edirne under the sponsorship of Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project .

It's not the first time that a plane has been sunk in Turkey to help to create artificial reefs and underwater tourism.

Three small-sized planes have also been sunk off the southern province of Antalya and its Kas and Kemer districts since 2009.

Aston Martin's upcoming 200mph hybrid Hypercar, formerly identified by its codename AM-RB 003, will now be officially known as Aston Martin Valhalla.

Named after the Viking legend of the "warriors paradise" which is reserved for the brave soldiers killed in battle, Valhalla follows the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro as the third hybrid from the British luxury marque .

Apart from having a ferocious name, it also keeps with the Aston Martin tradition of naming its high performance cars with the letter "V".

German automaker Mercedes-Benz has revealed three versions of "Stronger Than Time" G-Classes to celebrate 40 years of the iconic Gelandewagen off-roader.

The three AMG-specced special editions, which includes the Mercedes G 400d, G 500 and G 63, are fitted with “Stronger Than Time” badging as well as welcome lights that projects the message onto the ground. Night Packages includes tinted lighting units, tinted rear windows and darkened exterior elements.





The three variants also features glass sunroof, LED headlights, 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels, an adaptive damping suspension and a Driving Assistance Package.





Inside, there’s black nappa leather with golden contrast stitching and open-pore black ash wood trim, a leather-wrapped grab handle with “Stronger Than Time” badging,Wide touchscreen display, ambient lighting, active multicontour seats and a Burmester surround sound system.





The diesel-powered G 400d is the most powerful variant of the "Stronger Than Time" editions. It has the new OM656 inline six turbodiesel that produces 330 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.

This is followed by the petrol-powered G 500 with biturbo four-liter V8, producing 422 hp and a little less torque at 450 pound-feet of torque.





Finally, the top-of-the-line version is the AMG badged Mercedes G 63. The AMG G 63 itself celebrates 20 years of AMG G-Classes, and that means a 585-horsepower version of the biturbo V8, coupled to AMG's nine-speed Speedshift TCT transmission.

These pictures shows the moment that McLaren £1.75m prototype supercar, the Speedtail, burst into clouds of smoke at a BP petrol station .

British supercar maker McLaren suspects the incident happened as a result of an electrical fault but is investigating further.

McLaren said:

"A prototype version of the McLaren Speedtail experienced what we believe at this stage to be an electrical fault, whilst stationary at a fuel station near Guildford in Surrey, UK.

"As a precautionary measure, having seen a small amount of smoke emanating from the vehicle, McLaren employees moved the car away from the fuel pumps and discharged dry powder extinguishers over the rear of the car."

The supercar maker added that the Hybrid hypercar was sent back to McLaren and nobody was injured in the incident.

Bentley Motors has revealed the all-new Flying Spur for 2020. First unveiled in 2005, the 3rd generation rides on the same platform as the Continental GT and the Porsche Panamera, and has a 5.1-inch-longer wheelbase than the previous model .

It features electronic all-wheel steering, the first on a Bentley car , coupled with active all-wheel drive and Bentley Dynamic Ride. 





The Flying B emblem at the edge of the bonnet is now illuminated and retractable, similar to Rolls-Royce's famous Spirit of Ecstasy mascot. 

Inside, the interior gets a new configurable James Bond-style three-faced rotating 12.3-inch infotainment screen , with the two other faces either analog dials with a clock, compass and chronometer, or just a blank matching wood panel.









There’s also Bentley’s new 3D leather treatment on the doors, diamond-knurled metal on the dashboard and dials, and eight different optional veneers.

A baby girl that was born on an Irish Dublin-bound train on Tuesday has been given 25 years worth of free rail travel.

An Irish Rail spokesman said that they would provide free transport to the child "throughout her childhood and up to age 25" due to the unique circumstances of her birth.

"We will be hoping to help Mom out as well."

According to one of the train's catering staff ,her attention was drawn to the young woman when she heard her screaming in the toilet. She pushed the door open and saw a young woman inside who said she was in labour.

The train staff then informed the driver, called an ambulance and asked for passengers who were medics to come forward and assist.

A doctor and two nurses who were on the train at the time helped to deliver the baby on board.

The newborn and her young mother were taken to hospital after arriving in Dublin and are both doing well.

A speeding driver of a Renault Twingo car caught red-handed going 34mph in a 20mph zone was spared a fine because a white dove covered his face from the traffic camera.

At the exact moment the image was taken in west German town Viersen , a white dove flew into the frame blocking the man's image from identification.

Under German law, no penalty can be issued .It meant he couldn't be fined 105 Euros (about N42k) because police couldn't prove who was driving at the time of the offence.



Viersen Police said on its Facebook that :

"The Holy Ghost may have thought something of it when he placed his symbol in an exposed spot on May 21st.

"We have understood the sign and leave the racer in peace this time.

"However, we hope that the protected racer understands this ‘hint from above’ and drives appropriately in the future."

The police department jokingly added that :

"Actually, the pigeon would have earned a fine, because she was too fast.

"But since we do not know where she has to punctually be at Pentecost, we allow grace to prevail here too.

"Neither the driver nor the pigeon are warned."

A luxury superyacht owned by Italian billionaire and fashion heir Pier Luigi Loro Piana was lost at sea after slipping from a cargo ship into the Mediterranean.

The 40-meter Baltic 130 Custom sailing yacht ,named My Song, was being transported between the Spanish island of Mallorca and the Italian city of Genoa when it slipped off a 138-metre transportation ship  Brattinsborg.



The prize-winning yacht ,which holds several awards and titles, including Best Yacht at the World Superyacht Awards, was later found semi-submerged in an open water.

Peters & May, the logistics company in charge of transporting the yacht, said in a statement that:

"We were informed of the loss of a yacht from the deck of the MV Brattinsborg at approximately 0400hr LT on 26th May 2019. The yacht is sailing yacht My Song. Upon receipt of the news Peters & May instructed the captain of the MV Brattinsborg to attempt salvage whilst third-party salvors were appointed"

British auto brand Aston Martin has announced a new DBS Superleggera that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film "On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (OHMSS).

Only 50 of the DBS Superleggeras will be produced, all clad in the same olive-green hue that Bond’s 1969 Aston Martin DBS wore on the silver screen.

Not included is the Smoke machines, hidden guns, ejector seats or other Bond gadgets that came with the 1969 Aston Martin DBS.

The OHMSS DBS Superleggera joins the Goldfinger DB5 and the DB9 GT Bond Edition from 2015 as the newest member of the 007 special edition family.

German automaker Mercedes-Benz on Monday unveiled its latest Experimental Safety Vehicle for 2019. Just like the previous versions over the years, the latest concept , the ESF 2019,  previews life-saving technologies that could one day show up in future Mercedes production cars.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE based Level 4 autonomous Experimental Safety Vehicle uses a plug-in hybrid  powertrain . It has padded floor while the airbag is located in the dashboard, so it can still deploy when the wheel is retracted. There's even an airbag between the front occupants to prevent human-to-human contact during a crash.



When driving in automated mode, the steering wheel and pedals retract to reduce the risk of injury in the case of a crash. When the robots are in charge, a display on the front grille can communicates the vehicle's intentions to other drivers and road users.

In addition to the front grille screen, it can also project animations and symbols onto the rear windshield.

When the human is in charge, there are little touches like sun visors that emit "daylight-like light" to keep the driver alert.

Ola Källenius, Member of the Daimler AG Executive Board responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Development,said:

"Safety is part of the brand DNA of Mercedes-Benz. We have repeatedly demonstrated that we are not short of ideas in this field since the 1970s, with our Experimental Safety Vehicles. The new ESF 2019 reflects the mobility of the future, and presents a wide variety of innovations which we are currently researching and developing. And I can already say this much: some of the functions are very close to series production,"







Mercedes-Benz also introduced some safety systems specifically for kids that can tighten their seatbelts and boost side-impact protection when sensors suggest a problem is imminent.

The system can also tell a vehicle owner if the seat has been installed improperly. There's also a camera to keep an eye on the little ones in rearward-facing seats.

If the Experimental Safety Vehicle detects a rear-end collision, it can automatically move the car forward before the crash, giving the driver behind a little extra room to come to a stop without contacting anyone.

The pilot of a F-35B Joint Strike Fighter Jet was forced to abort a takeoff from the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan, after a bird strike caused the World's Most Advanced Warplane to suffer millions of dollars worth of serious damage.

The incident happened on May 7 as the fifth-generation stealth fighter jet, which was assigned to the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121, taxied the runway.



An initial assessment of the incident identified it as a Class A mishap, meaning that the $115m (₦41billion) aircraft suffered more than $2m (₦720million) in damages.

A safety investigation as well as a more comprehensive damage assessment are currently underway.

Birds sucked into an engine's intake can destroy an engine.Most bird strikes don't result in damage to the aircraft or injuries to aircrew, but a handful do cause serious damages, resulting in damages in excess of $75 million a year.

Russia on May 9 staged a massive military parade, marking 74th years of victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two. The parade is a chance for Russia to show off its current military and defense capabilities.

Over 13,000 troops and more than 130 pieces of weaponry were paraded through the capital in a show of Russian military power.

Among the hundreds of military hardware paraded in front of Russian President Vladimir Putin, veterans and dignitaries was Russia's Yars mobile intercontinental nuclear missile launcher , T-34 tank and T-14 Armata tanks.  





The Convertible version of Vladimir Putin's new £120,000 armoured limousine was also unveiled at the country's Victory Day parade.

The flyover segment of the Victory parade was canceled due to weather conditions.

At least Forty-one people have died after a burning Russian-made Sukhoi passenger jet made an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow.

Videos showed passengers who had escaped the aircraft on exit slides running over the tarmac, away from the burning plane.

“Amazing,” one man can be heard saying on one of many videos filmed from inside Sheremetyevo airport and posted on social media"

The flight by Aeroflot, the Russian national airline, took off from Moscow with about 78 passengers bound for Murmansk, a port city in northern Russia. The airliner said the plane was forced to return to the airport for technical reasons, but did not elaborate.





It remains unclear what caused the large blaze and emergency landing. Safety concerns with the Sukhoi Superjet, Russia’s first newly designed post-Soviet passenger plane, emerged soon after its introduction in 2008.

In 2012, the Superjet crashed into a mountain in Indonesia during a sales demonstration flight carrying 37 aviation executives and journalists, and eight crew members, killing all aboard. An investigation cited pilot error.

China has opened the world’s highest motorway tunnel on the Tibetan plateau after over 2,000 construction workers endured frigid temperatures, frequent floods and thin air over the four years and four months it took to build.

The new Mila Mountain Tunnel sits at an altitude of 4,750 metres (15,584 ft) above sea level in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region.







The whole tunnel is 5.7 km (3.5 miles) long and it connects Tibet’s capital Lhasa with Nyingchi in the southeast of the region.

Construction of the tunnel started in 2015 on the 5,018-meter-high Mila Mountain, helping shorten the 18-km distance over the mountain to 5.7 km.

According to the Project Manager of the Mila Mountain Tunnel of the China Railway No. 2 Bureau,the new highway will also help boost tourism, industrial development and bring traffic convenience to local people.

The Orlando Police Department has tweeted the video above ,which shows the moments before a speeding train crashed into the SUV, with a warning:

“Please obey all traffic laws, especially when approaching railroad crossings. Trying to cross when a SunRail train approaches is extremely dangerous. Exercise patience and drive safe.”

Before the crash, the SUV was seen idleing for roughly 10 seconds with no train in sight. Suddenly it begins to move forward at the exact second the train barrels down and crashes into it.

Orlando police Sgt. Eduardo Bernal said the driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after the SunRail crash.

Social media users thought the high risk move by the driver was intentional.
One comment reads:

“This was almost surely on purpose. Nothing here looks like an accident. They waited to pull out so the train wouldn’t have slowed down.”

But OPD spokesman Sgt. Eduardo Bernal said investigators do not believe the driver tried to kill herself but did say the timing was weird.

The incident remains under investigation.

Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg announced at the company's annual shareholder meeting on Monday that he would be on the first flights of the Boeing 737 Max when the controversial plane returns to service.

He said :

"We will have Boeing teammates deployed with our customers as we bring the [737 Max] fleet back up, and that will include first flights for many of our customers"

"So it will include me and many others, and we are going to be doing this in partnership with many of our airlines"

The Boeing CEO added:

"This is a really important part of showing our confidence in the product, and I can tell you our Boeing employees are very supportive of doing that as well."

Boeing CEO also told shareholders that he has participated on two test flights aboard 737 Max airliners equipped with the updated control software.

"I've been on two Max test flights already during the last three weeks"

"One, so I can get some hands-on experience with the new software and listen to our pilots while they are flying it. Two, to demonstrate our confidence in the software."

The Boeing 737 Max has been grounded globally since March 13 following the crashes of Lion Air Flight JT610 in October and Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET302 last month. In total, 346 passengers and crew were killed in the two crashes.

The Nigerian Army on Friday destroyed 500 drums of adulterated diesel worth millions of Naira and two cars seized from smugglers in Jebs Community in the Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River.

The smugglers were said to have absconded on sighting the army, leaving drums of diesel and two vehicles behind.

The Commander of Operation Delta Safe, Sector 4, Col. B.A. Amakor, said:

“We have 500 drums of diesel which is worth millions of naira and they are being destroyed alongside two vehicles which were used to perpetuate the act"

“Some suspects were arrested and after preliminary investigations, some of the people who were used as labourers to offload the products were apprehended and we have handed them over to the relevant agencies for prosecution"

“We are reaching out to locals through community and youth leaders to help us with information and cooperate with the security agencies to report these people when they are seen"

“The challenges we are facing apart from the issue of logistics is the challenge of the locals who are not ready to divulge information.’’

Col. B.A. Amakor added that Operation Delta Safe was doing its best to safeguard Cross River, particularly the waterways to stop smugglers from carrying out their illegal activities.

Tesla is investigating a video on China's Twitter-like social media, Weibo ,which showed a parked white Tesla Model S car exploding in Shanghai ,China.

The CCTV footage ,which was filmed yesterday at around 8.15p.m, started with the parked Tesla car emitting white smoke before bursting into flames seconds later.

Tesla said in a statement on Monday that:
"We immediately sent a team onsite and we're supporting local authorities to establish the facts. From what we know now, no one was harmed"

There have been at least 14 instances of Tesla electric cars catching fire since 2013, with the majority occurring after a crash.





Tesla has previously said that petrol-powered cars are 10 times more likely to catch fire than those powered by electric batteries, based on its fleet of over 500,000 vehicles which have driven more than 10 billion miles.

The most popular hashtags on Weibo on Monday is "Tesla self-ignites", racking up over 20 million clicks. Some users urged Tesla to quickly find the cause, whereas others speculated over the impact to the value of Tesla cars currently on the road.

Mr Rotimi Adeleye,the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Sector Commander in Ondo State says more than 4,000 driver’s licences remain unclaimed in the state.

Mr Adeleye expressed displeasure at the refusal of the applicants to collect their driver’s licence while others were in possession of fake licence.

“As part of Easter festival patrol, we are going to place special focus on failure to install speed limit device, embark on zero tolerance for over loading as well as driving without driver’s licence.

“Right now as I am talking to you we have about 4,000 driver licence produced and unclaimed in the state. Some of them had been produced since last year.

“So, with this, we are embarking on massive enforcement of the driver licence, those drivers that had not collected their licence should endeavour to go to the licensing office where they applied for it and claim them.

“Our officers and men on the highway will not take excuses that their driver licence is at home or is under processing without any genuine evidence,”

He also said that officers and men of the command would be on road through out the festive period to ensure free flow of traffic and compliance with traffic rules and regulations.

“We discovered that a lot of motorists don’t care about being on the right lane when driving or travelling, so we want to enforce that while driving with expired tyre will also be our focus.

“We are appealing to the motorists that before setting out for Easter journey, they should ensure that the light of their vehicles are working perfectly and the wipers and tyres are in good condition too.

“More so, they should ensure that they set out on their journey early to avoid over speeding"
