ammyluv2002:you've read the power of character in leadership |
there is a difference between ''Knowledge,
Wisdom, Understanding'' knowledge is to gather Facts,
Understanding is to KNOW the facts that you gather and
Wisdom is to APPLY the facts that you already know. |
What is success?
It's different from one person to the next, but one
thing we all have in common is that we love to
progress.
Nobody is happy being stagnant.
And, as distinguished psychologist Mihaly
Csikszentmihalyi notes, we are happiest when we
are doing work — but that work has to be
challenging and invigorating.
However, few people actually achieve their dreams.
But it's not for lack of ability.
The truth is that bad habits keep many people from
ever achieving the kind of success they dream
about.
Here are three bad habits you need to break now to
enjoy true success:

Are Fierce
4-Step Fix For That Nagging Negative Self-Talk
View As: One Page Slides
1. Caring what others think and allowing this to
cloud decision-making
This is a really hard one. We are community-
oriented creatures and crave interaction with
others. We need to feel connected to people in
order to thrive, and it is in our nature to want
acceptance from others.
However, making career decisions only to look
good to others is a success killer. For true success,
you need to tap into your own truth and follow
your instinct.
What is truly right for you may be different from
what your parents, community, or society thinks is
right. These outside forces will push you in a
direction that is right for them, not you.
Break the habit: Let go of what others think. It's
hard, but your truth is what will lead you in the
right direction. Follow your instinct.
2. Liking your job but not loving it
A job you like can feel like a comfortable couch:
There's no pressing reason to get up, and it keeps
you in your comfort zone. The couch may be
comfy, but soon you will become a couch potato.
A comfortable job will slowly drain you of your
creative energy and your zest for life. In a
comfortable job, you aren't challenged to the hilt.
Without these things, you can't achieve greatness.
Greatness comes from growth and going deep into
your potential. You can't be all that you can if you
are on cruise control. So stop being OK with liking
your job. Ask yourself — do you really love this
job?
Break the habit: Identify what truly sets you on
fire at work, and dedicate yourself to making
changes to your work situation to bring in more
opportunities for growth and challenge.
This could involve talking to your manager about
increasing your responsibilities, moving into a
different department, or even leaving your current
job for a new one.
3. Not believing you can achieve your dreams
The idea of a "dream job" is confusing — we often
think of it as a dream that we secretly don't believe
could ever happen.
Guess what: if you don't believe in your ability to
make dreams come true, it will 100% not happen.
We all have negative mental chatter that fights to
keep us down, and the only thing that can combat
this is the daily, ritualistic belief that you can do
whatever you have set your sights on.
This belief in yourself is grit — a fantastic mix of
courage, resolve, and strength of character. As
Angela Duckworth said in her TED Talk, grit is the
number one criteria for success .
Break the habit: Whenever you find yourself
thinking that you'll never achieve your dream job,
stop yourself. Instead, identify one thing you can
do next to further yourself along the path to your
ideal career.

walked away and moved with complete fearlessness of the military towards the streets where the did more looting as they returned to where ever they came from vowing to return the next day. Fortunately we did not see them today. |
At Olu obasanjo road PHC yesterday, thousands of exmilitants came as they do every month to collect their salary for leaving their lucrative oil bunkering and kidnapping of white oil workers when they discovered that for the fourth time since June, they have not been paid. The ex militants went on rampage at Enterprise Bank beside the Olu Obasanjo police station. The policemen fled from their station despite the militants where unarmed, they destroyed the facilities of the bank and neighbouring banks including Fidelity Bank and FCNB. They destroyed their ATM Machines in a fruitless bid to forcefully collect the cash loaded in the machine. Enterprise Bank manager had to hide in the bank's armoured vehicle used for moving money. She was very lucky to escape without any injury as the ex militants where bound on beaten her up. After the banks vandalism, they moved into my street and looted shops, vehicles and passers-by before the Nigerian Army moved in. When the army moved in, the militants sluggishly |

Today we had at my friend's church service, we prayed concerning Boko Haram because of the scare of Boko Haram moving into Lagos. The prayer point boiled down to the north facing the Boko Haram problem themselves as in 'it's a northern problem, don't involve the south' attitude and 'Boko Haram as long as you are bombing up north, its not our problem don't just come to the south' attitude. Being a nationalist, it saddened my day because of the wide support it acclaimed. I want a 'one Nigeria', 'a single indivisible Nigeria'. |

Using techie jargons with Americans may lead to
confusion as the country blessed with Silicon Valley
lags technically updated people according to a survey.
HTML is a Sexually Transmitted Disease(STD). Yes! you
read it right, according to 11% Americans, Hypertext
Markup Language(HTML) is an STD. This scenario was
revealed when Vouchercloud a coupons website
conducted a study which was later published by LA
Times .
The study involved 2,392 men and women all of whom
were 18 years or older. In the survey, people were
presented with such words which included both
technical and non technical terms. They had to choose
one out of three options for the word which really
carried the meaning for that word. But what actually
happened that some of them were confused ,while some
of them were confident at their wrong answers.
An embarrassing amount of Americans think HTML is a
disease you can catch from another human being–which
says a lot about the state of both sex and computer
education in the U.S. Other findings, unearthed by the
Times :
First of all 77% of respondents could not tell what SEO
stands for (SEO stands for Search Engine
Optimisation,a technique used by website admins to
promote their website on search engines)
27% said Gigabyte is an insect found in South America
(Gigabyte is a unit for memory capacity).
23% of them thought mp3 as a “Star Wars Robot,”
while mp3 is an audio file format.
18% identified “Blu-ray” as a marine animal (It is a disc
format typically used to store high-definition videos).
42% said they believed a “motherboard” was “the deck
of a cruise ship.” A motherboard is usually a circuit
board that holds many of the key components of a
computer.
5% said they believed “software” is comfortable
clothing, while Software is a general term used for
referring to a computer program.
According to 12% of them,USB is an acronym for a
European Country. (USB is acronym of Universal Serial
Bus,A connectivity technology).
Despite the incorrect answers, 61% of the respondents
said it is important to have a good knowledge of
technology in this day and age.
“Technology is a huge interest for our user base,
and month after month we see thousands of people
visiting our site to look for coupons and deals to
use when purchasing their favorite tech products,” a
company spokeswoman said in a statement. “It
seems that quite a few of us need to brush up on
our tech definitions.”
The origin and veracity of the survey had come under
question by a journalism ethics website. The firm that
conducted the survey, 10 Yetis Public Relations, later
said that it stands by its work and had provided the full
survey results.
The survey is “100% genuine, and it’s a valid survey,”
said Leanne Thomas, a senior account executive for 10
Yetis Public Relations.
Thomas said the survey was conducted over email over
the course of seven days. She said participants of the
survey were given no incentive to respond. |
The Nigerians who will never stand in any queue, who
must make their way to the front as soon as they
arrive
The drivers who will never stop at a traffic light, who
consider it anathema to allow an empty space in front
of their vehicles
The invisible individuals who excrete piles of solid
waste on the pavements, night after night
The staff who take three weeks' leave to attend their
father's burial, then another three weeks later in the
year to attend their father's burial, again. "That first
one was my father who paid my school fees," they say.
"This one is my biological father"
The mothers who threaten the head teacher with fire
and brimstone because their children were punished
for coming late to school
The bosses who, in the presence of their entire staff,
praise you for your excellent work skills, then wink
and ask if you also have excellent "bedroom skills",
while everyone present bursts out laughing
The top government officials who show off their
importance by the number of people jam-packed into
their waiting rooms. They give you an appointment for
7am, knowing full well that they do not intend to see
you until 10pm
The air hostesses who frown throughout the flight, to
avoid giving you the false impression that they are at
your beck and call
The "big men" and "big women" who scream "Do you
know who I am?" when you ask for some identity
before they can be allowed through the gate
Those who ring the airline to request that the flight be
delayed for their sakes, while their fellow passengers
gaze out of the aeroplane windows for an hour,
wondering why the flight is delayed, this time |
