Hello Everyone,

Pls i need some clarifications. My spouse did dropbox in November for a travel slated for December and got the 221g interview. His interview date is 21st March,howevwr his pasport expires in May and he has gone to renew but passport is not ready for pick up.

My Questions:

Can he attend the interview with his soon to expire passport?Yes

If he's able to get his new passport before the interview,is he suppose to do any amendment to his DS160 or he should just go with both passports?

well,the gurus will advice further on company account however you will need your account as addition. Don't worry about the balance,my colleague had 270k as balance (though he gets about 1M as salary) and visa was approve.best of luck

My employer wants to sponsor I and my kids (2) on vacation to the US. We will be staying in a hotel but the issue is:
I have never applied for US visa
* Which city will be nice to visit (tourist)
*What documents do I need to make available
Note: my husband would not be going with us, cos he works and resides in UAE.
*I have also travelled out with d kids (it's not a virgin passport).

Kindly advise.

1.you will need to do abit your own research to tell yourself which city or cities that you will like to visit
2.i will advise you read these thread from page till here(you will get enough info) but if you're in a hurry to apply, then
1.ds160 and appointment letter
2.passports
3.bank statement (no need to boost it, any amount is fine as long as it has your monthly in flow)
4.all documents showing your relationship with husband and children.
Trust you will be fine with all these, however pray for favour.

my genuine advice is, apply normally (don't use any agent),prepare for interview,am sure you have slot as a silent follower,good you have gone to Ghana with whole family,if you need further help, come back to the house, am the gurus will continue to assist.

Not exactly true.... It can remain valid till expiry date. I've actually seen someone that traveled and came back while awaiting his 221(g) interview appointment lately here.

i had 5 weeks and 3 days left on my visa b4 dropbox,visa was cancelled and I was advised to pick a 221g date. Different case for different scenario I guess

Tnk u , pls can you explain further. All we have right now is the printed pages of what we took to the interview. Even the previous appointment details was not sent us. Everything was through the agent and a third party was involved too. That's why I want to know if we can follow the processes stated on this platform and start afresh.

sign into CGI website with your username and password (possibly create a new one),there you can update profile and request new password.
The agent ddnt give you copy of ds160 form?what printed pages did you take to interview? Agents are bad please stop using and discourage any1 around you too from using them

If you apply for Visa renewal, your current visa will be cancelled no matter the expiry date on it (Even though they deny or issue the visa).

If they are sceptical of getting denied a renewal, have they run foul of US laws previously.

The can be denied entry at POE even with the valid Visa if there's any pending issue.

current visa won't be valid if they apply now.i submitted my application 5 weeks to expiration in November 2018 and it was returned with 221g appointment and the current visa at that time was "cancel without prejudice"?I don't think you can have same visa of same category in same passport....gurus help to clarify pls

Goodmorning everyone, I came across this page late 2018 and by then my husband and I had applied for US visit visa with an agent and we were denied the visa. Now we intend reapplying by ourselves, my question is, 
Do we need to ask the agent for the username and password of the previous application or can we go ahead and fill another form. I have read through previous page I didn't see any answer to this. Tnx

depends on the kind of person you are dealing with, if he or she will be willing to give you meanwhile you can still do it yourself, from a close friend experience,all you do is update profile and request for change of email at the point of booking appointment,you will need to attach your passport datapage for both of you. to your question the answer is NO. I also advise they wait until say June-July before drop box(a month to two weeks before expiration). Speaking from personal experience

We applied for a b1/b2 visa via Dropbox sometime in Feb and got a white 221g slip asking us to reappear for an interview. Due to our busy schedules we didn't pick up the passports till what later turned out to be the last day for booking a date under the 221g. We picked farthest date being sometime later towards the end of March. I figured they want to ask why we've been in the US several times over the last 2 years and what we've been doing.

A bit of background: we've been in the US several times over the last 2 years. Initially to attend a family reunion during which we spend some weeks, next to do a couple of exams and attend a couple of school interviews as we were interested in pursuing further education. We're professionals in the medical field. By the way, i was successful and got a school willing to allow me come and do my desired program. All these took a couple of months to achieve and we got leave from work to do so. We have family in the US and they were ok with helping us out accommodation wise. We also spent good time together as well, my spouse especially who hadn't seen the folks including parents for nearly 20years. Her father's health has been in decline, he's advanced in age and he really enjoyed having her and the kids especially around.Throughout out stay, we didn't have recourse to public funds in any way, we didn't overstay beyond the time allotted on the passports at the POE. We both have travel history having traveled to various countries before for conferences and to visit family. When we applied for the dropbox, we weren't planning to travel till year end, to visit. We just wanted to do the dropbox thing and be done with it.

the dilemma is this: The information from the school came late. It came in After we've already applied for the dropbox so i know at some point I'll have to appear for an interview for a student visa. I do not plan to have my family over in the US while I'm in school. It's pointless given the careers we have to stand still for 2 years, so no point in having them over especially my spouse.

i know we will be asked what we did over the last 2 years. My spouse is of the opinion we tell them apart from spending time with family, we also wrote exams etc. I feel that is at odds with the purpose for the visa which is to visit family. I've been reading on threads here that if you have to do something different, you must notify the consulate in Nigeria. At the time i didn't know this.

I am also afraid a refusal at the 221g may also affect the student visa interview as par steering the conversation away from my intending studies etc to this matter. Also i don't know if the whole issue may result in having our passports taken for the so called admin processing which i hear can take weeks. I don't want to lose this admission as it's a real career booster and not many Nigerians have it. It was also very tough and the school considers their seat exclusive and won't even defer. (Its a doctorate in my field and I'm the first African, not just Nigerian they're taking on). School will be resuming by late june and it's a 2 year program.

The dilemma is this: do we go for the 221g interview? And how do we explain our activities in a way the VO will find acceptable.

My instinct is to cancel this interview but I've been told if we do so, then that means we have something to hide, I'm thinking of writing to them asking for a rescheduling for a longer time so i can show up for the student visa interview without this clouding anything up. We also do not mind submitting a fresh application if need be. Then there's also the issue of our application being a joint one. It's my understanding that all of us must be present.

I am confused to be honest.

we have almost same issue and what I did was allow wife and children to go first (though I had official assignment ),I ddnt cancel since I missed the interview thereafter I emailed them, they revalidated my MRV and I went for separate interview.we were completely honest and we all got it.go ahead be honest and am sure you guys will get it, though I advise your family go first without you, thereafter you can go.note that you might not get 221g appointment date again but normal interview.hope my info has been helpful

@icanfixitmyself, had same scenario during mine but my wife kept quite for me to respond unless questions directly to her. Am sure you can apply again at your convenience but agreed with your wife on who will speak. Even in the face of several denials to other people our own got approved yesterday with 3 children. Many thanks to the gurus in the house for info and Almighty for favour.

I genuinely haven’t heard of a rescheduled 221(g) appointment. Why not call them up? I for one don’t know what you should do next aside reaching out to them. Maybe someone else may have good info for you sha....

Don’t really know about this one (rescheduling a 221(g) appointment), but surely you are no longer qualified for a Dropbox application, 221(g) is a technical refusal. What have you tried to do so far in terms of rescheduling and what’s the outcome like? Hope you make headway with this though.

Well, if rescheduling fails, you then will have to get another MRVisa fee paid for that is and schedule a direct appointment, no more Dropbox.

many thanks,the current MRV is still open on my page and directing me to dropbox still(wifey and kids went for 221g and was approved),I know am not qualify for dropbox but atleast another 221g is what I want to schedule for. Any further advice or help will be appreciated

Sure, it can be used still, no problem. But a new one will be needed for the actual trip. The visa remains valid irrespective of passport expiration or not....

I believe they can go without saying you have an important meeting to attend and I think you can still reschedule another date instead of paying for another visa fees.
