My program starts in August with pre-sessional activities/ orientation.

However lectures start on September 3rd, 2008. Thanks. I am hoping I can get it as soon as possible. I also hope they intend to give me and they are still verifying.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 4:16pm On Jul 14, 2008
huh am wondering what is at miss. I just cant fathom it. I have sent them mails and they have even stopped replying my mails. The last time I went there they just said they were still processing my application. I tire. May the good lord have mercy on me.

I submitted personally and there was attached a self addressed pre-paid courier envelop. It is really annoying. I would appreciate any other suggestion or assistance I can get in this regard.

God bless you all.

@Delta,

I like ur analytical skills and sense of humour. U see why we all need Canadian education, to make us as brilliant and smart as you are, well me am quite anxious sha, I think it is all quite arbitrary and no one can say what the problem and challenge(s) really are. I know some1 no, be dem say who applied on May 14th who got a response 2 weeks ago. sho, I applied days before him and nothing yet, I wonder what the difference is or is last treated first? is there some inverse logic? just wondering and hoping for the best.

another reason why am so pissed and think its arbitrary is because I know a good standing notary public in one of the top three law firms in Nigeria earning over 12 million a year (excluding bonus/ profit sharing) who was denied a visiting visa saying they were not sure he was returning. I saw his package and I knew it was quite 'fool proof' as it contained his salary, evidence of investments, wedding pictures, everything you can think of,

I just keep wondering how they reach their decisions,

Yomex, u appear quite knowledgeable, do u have more information for us, mine is now over 60 days and 45 working days. it is now quite annoying. Well we would keep praying and watching. I would keep everyone posted on the outcome. Thank you and God bless.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 7:24pm On Jul 13, 2008
Come to think of it, in this age of info tech, should it take so long to verify?

Wouldn't it be to call the school and or send emails, same for the bank or any institution. Burnin; Home1986, can we have ur experiences? It appears that ever1 I who applied in April got it? How far?

Still waiting for their response. Over 60 days now. Over 45 working days. Shoo. Wetin dem dey verify? Wetin dem dey do? I tire. Just making me anxious and keeping my plans hanging.

Thanks, God bless you a million.
TravelRe: Canadian Embassy- Lagos by aydewale(op): 5:19pm On Jul 09, 2008
@ Delta:

I agree with you and I have even been there, it is justy that it is freaking me out. Most of my plans are hanging, cant even take my annual leave since last year January because @ my place of work, you cant take an annual leave and study leave same year.

I have been at the Anifowoshe Office of the embassy twice and they keep telling me they are still processing it. After now, I would stop asking questions. I guess i have just been anxious. you know it is almost 2 months. Sixty whole days.

Delta dont be offended or tell me off should you desire to respond. Just accept that we all have our anxieties as humans. Funnily I have a good job in Nigeria but you know its quite competitive and almost everyone has got a masters and a few their PHDs and that puts me in quite a disadvantage. That's why am quite anxious.

I did not apply to any other school nor have i considered any other country.

@ everyone:

I am sorry if I am getting you pissed, I was just wondering if there was anyone else in my shoes and how things turn out.

Thank you and God bless.

Any other suggestions, ideas or advice?
TravelRe: Canadian Embassy- Lagos by aydewale(op): 7:33pm On Jul 08, 2008
@ debosky:

Thanks I appreciate it. Now, You send your application and you should be contacted within 30 days and told one of the following:

a. Application failed;

b. Come for interview; or

c. Go for medicals.

where b. is the case then you would still have to go for medicals if your interview is satisfactory. However, if they ask you to go for medicals, it means they intend to grant you the visa just want to be sure you are healthy and dont have aids etc.

debosky, God bless you.

still await other suggestions etc.
TravelRe: Canadian Embassy- Lagos by aydewale(op): 7:03pm On Jul 08, 2008
@ Debosky:

I have not be called for the interview yet, no medicals, nothing. I submitted my application on the 12th of May, 2008. The form states that within 30 working days I would be informed of the result of my application, that is, whether I was to go for an interview or the medicals straight.

@ GoldCircle:

Hi does the 42 days include non-working days or is that just working days?

@ Home1986:

Thanks, I appreciate it. I have been fasting at least once every week. it is usual for my wife and I to fast every Tuesday and on Thursdays too with or without asking God for a visa. May the good lord bless you all the same for the advice.

@ Everyone:

Would appreciate your 2 cents.

Congratulations. God bless you. In your view what were the key issues you think one should take into consideration. Additionally, could you kindly put your success story in the Visa success portion. Congrats, once more, am so happy 4 u and pray God does mine.

How did you do it when you had that same challenge, what did you say? Who did you meet? Please kindly give me specific advice.
God bless you.

Thanks Debosky, I ve been to the embassy once and all they told me was that they were still processing my application. They gave us some forms and told us to state our request or queries.if you don't mind, could you tell me another way to go about it, like what I should do when I get to the embassy, as I can go again.

Thank you and God bless u.

Tanx Mary, I can't even go on annual leave cos my HOD knows and says I would have to choose between my annual leave and a study leave. I have worked now for almost 2 years without going on leave.

Am just wondering what the problem is after almost 2 months, ve not heard anything.

Am supposed to travel in August as school resumes on Sept. 3 and pre-session orientation is before then, I also need to prepare for the trip. Also remember that I might still need to go for an interview and medical test.

Hi Nairalanders, I do not intend to offend anyone's sensibilities.

Its been almost 60 days since I applied for my Canadian study permit and I have not heard anything from the embassy.I am wondering what the issue is.

This fact is making me quite anxious. Additionally, its making most of my plans hanging cos I don't know what next. I can't for example take my annual leave since almost 2 years that ve been working.

Please does anyone have an idea of what I the issue is? Does anyone else ve the same challenge. I am so anxious and I need someone else's views

I agree with Delta, additionally, I would suggest you choose one or two others, in order to brighten your chances. You also need to back whatever you do up with prayers and please be meticulous. Remember to also act fast and smart as even when you get your admission, by the grace of God, assuming its for January, you would need to apply to the Canadian Embassy by September.

I wish you all the best and may the good lord grant you favour.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 10:58am On Jun 28, 2008
Just wondering, has any Nairalander a Canadian Study Permit in Nigeria this year?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 7:27pm On Jun 25, 2008
@ burnin:

Please could you kindly let me know what it took to get to that stage. I hear once you get to that stage, it is 100% sure u would get ur visa except you have some very terrible malady or sickness (like say HIV). No new interview.

Additionally, I hear it takes like a month after the medicals for you to get the visa.

Congratulations.

I would also be pleased if you could answer the following questions:

a. how long did it take the embassy to get back to u after ur initial application?

b. what verifications are u aware they made, like did the embassy call ur office or University? and

C. any other information.

Thank you and congrats once again.

God bless u and thanks for the advice.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 9:12pm On Jun 24, 2008
Yeah!I agree,Delta, am really sorry. Just got pissed. Remember that I had asked one or two questions in the past and u simply told me off that some1 else had to tell u to take it easy with me. I probably just got annoyed this time.

Tanx for the response and accept my unreserved apologies.

Tanx to all respondents.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 8:55pm On Jun 24, 2008
@ Delta.

I'd rather u don't respond than give me condescending or sarcastic answerrs. I really wonder who the heck u are? I definitely am doing well in Nigeria and won't even cry if I don't get a visa. I wonder why I am even dignifying ur awkward response with an answer.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 6:45pm On Jun 24, 2008
@Ezinwanne; marydre; Delta et al

This is particularly amazing to me cos even the UK High Commission which receives up to 5 times the number of applications the Canadian commission receives processes in 15 working days. I know a number of colleagues doing the Masters in the UK who went last year, sure it did not exceed 15 working days.

Anyway its prayers. Does anyone know why it takes them so loooong? The UK has many more applications but less than half the time.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 6:34pm On Jun 24, 2008

I tried to be as conscentious/ meticulous as possible, so that my application could be as error-free as possible. Tanx for the question.God bless u.

@ Delta; Ezinwa; anybody else who has an idea.

Delta et al, I submitted my application around the 12th of May, nothing yet fro the Canadian High Commission. What's up in your view as the 30 working days is up. is this a cause for me to be happy or worried? could it be that they are verifying? what could they be verifying that is taking so ling?

Thank you.
