Hello |
@ Igb., sorry its been a while, don't like giving excuses for shortcoming so am simply sorry although truth is studying here is stress. papers, seminars, assignments. I ve stuff to submit almost every week. Ow's ur program going? I would kip in touch more now. @ Neud: Lost my fone when I went to Nigeria last year. New no is 918-2720. Ow are lectures? |
Hi evryone: Canada really is a good place but I do really think apart from coming here to study, Nigeria in my view, is better esp. if u ve a good job. Over here I see our brothers washing plates. Bankers in Nigeria, driving cabs and they can't go back cause of shame. Even the skilled workers program in my view is not as it seems. I am not trying to discourage anyone but am here by God's grace and I see what pple are going through. maybe with a good job sha, u wd be ok. But looking at the bills pple ve to pay and the way most pple get indebted! I think Niger may not be as bad as anyone thinks. It's always greener on the other side really, until u get there. Igb: ow far with ur plans for ur Masters? IO wish everyone going to the embassy good luck. Try to make ur application 'fool proof' and leave nothing to chance. All the best. I return once am done with my Masters except I get a Phd. offer which I wd take and still return to Nigeria thereafter. Canada good but no be like the way we dey see am from Nigeria! |
Sorry TJ, Saw ur posts late. Just settled down in Canada and ve not been Nairalanding much that's y am sorry. i believe the good lord would be merciful to you in Jesus name. All the best. |
Hi Everyone, Just settling down, that's why ve been off air. Am relatively settled now. Abeg no vex. Sure am a Nairalander for life just the way am a MANU fan 4 life. Regards Igb; Delta & evryone, would be home in December for my wedding, |
Tj, I am on study leave already and funnily, I used the office facilities to do everything. I believe my letter is still on the system in the office, but am out of town else would have gone there to check forit. If u look at the application form, u wd see what they expect ur introduction letter to contain. Be careful to make sure there is consistency in all ur story. Pls. Thank you. |
Yes! You were supposed to include it. If you had read through the doc u were given, u wd see that clearly stated. In my own case, they did not return my passport by courier b4 the interview, it was one day I told some1 in my office to go and help me check that they gave the docs to her on my behalf. Really if they did not return the prepaid courier envelop u earlier submitted, then I think they wd send everything with it now. If not then they may call u. To be proactive, u may just send the prepaid to them with a cover note stating ur particulars and ur file number, in particular. I wish u all the best. Thank you |
Tdj: I had to get a leave letter from my place of work. In fact, i had to include my letter of employment, my letters of promotion and a leave letter stating that the office would continue to pay my salary while on leave. Thanks and I wish you all the very best. |
Home: I do not intend to offend u, but am a bit confused about ur application and posts.Initially, u said u had applied for ur visa and u gave the impression at a time that u had received it. Remember u once advised me about fasting and praying. Later u said the embassy returned ur application cos of the fee, u however said later, that u had sent it back around June 2. What exactly is the true position of things? U know dre was a time u were asking about flight options. Am really not sure what's up? Well after my epistle my answer to ur question is that u follow the instructions on the form, to the letter. On transcript: I think u need the original. Go to ur skool and explain to dem. I believe they would help and please involve ur parents and or older siblings. On school fees: All u need to do is to prove that u ve got sufficient funds. Please don't pay yet. Finally on ties to Nigeria: Show family ties and how useful u wd be to the a particular sector of the Nigerian economy. If u find an uncle or relative nice enough to help, show that he is sponsoring u and is expecting u to come and work for him. U however need to make ur stories consistent and DO NOT CONTRADICT urself cos personally, I see contradictions in ur posts, so be careful. Additionally, I know that if u read through this topic u wd see posts by veterans such as Delta etc which wd be of enormous aid. Really, I think all ur questions had been previously answered. God bless u. |
Hi Toni, I think ur decision to go to the embassy is the best. However, I would like to ask u a few questions. 1. Was it just the medicals u were asked 2 do;or 2. Did they ask for other documentation and or an interview like my own case? if ur answer to 1 is in the affirmative then save for any major medical issues, you should get ur visa this week. If ur answer to 1 is in the negative, pls submit those docs fortwith. Pls keep us posted on outcome of ur meeting @ d embassy. God bless u, u shall succeed. Neud; How far? Any news? Igbo: Any news from ur end? Has anything changed? Tanx. |
Yes! Pls be positive, there is nothing God can't do. It appears no two situations are the same, as far as the Canadian embassy is concerned because I had my medicals around the 25th of July, sincerely, I can't remeber the exact date and my interview was like 2 or 3 days after and I got my visa like 12 days after around 7th of August. I am however quite optimistic that u wd be given, I think it is the medicals. Where did u ve ur medicals? Mine was at the VI clinic and incidentally the doctor there was a friend of my fiancee who accompanied me and he promised he wd do evrything for us speedily. I think you may want to find out if the clinic has sent ur medicals cos my sis had same problem 3 or 4 years ago when she wanted to go for 1st degree in Centennial college. She realised that the clinic in Yaba did not actually send her result until she went to find out what was up. Additionally, she went to the embassy cos there was still some delay. Kindly confirm if the clinic has sent ur result and once its up 2 three weeks after ur medicals, kindly go to the embassy and make enquiries. God bless u. |
@Ezin: I would like to leave on the 28th of August. Thank you and God bless. Wd expect a response soon. I got the quote from a travel agency. |
@Ezin: No, its for a one way trip, do you have a cheaper option, I really would not mind. Tanx. |
@Tja: If you get a good bargain, between =N=3, 500 and =N=4, 000. the cheapest airline deal I have got so far is 285 k. |
@Ezin Any way would do. Provided the cost is reasonable. I would appreciate ur assistance in this regard. God bless you. @Igb: I would appreciate ur assistance in this regard too. |
@igb: I haven't but should 2day or tomorrow @ the latest. I actually got a 3 month contract job in the UK with a top UK law firm which I thot I would pursue which delayed my buying the ticket. My thots were that I would do the job for 1 month b4 going to Canada. Evry1 thinks it won't make sense cos I wd ve missed so much in skol. So now I wd just face Canada. Any ideas about a good deal with airlines to Canada? On the question on withdrawal from accout, I don't C any probs, but remember u are not supposed to pay ur fees until the embassy directs that u do. It wd hopwever be a plus 4 u in my view if it is a part payment the skol requires u pay immediately. If the latter is the case and is not so much pay. Even if its so much and its refundable pay. Tanx. Please don't 4get to gige me suggestions on my flight booking. God bless u. |
@ CHI Hi, I understand your predicament, but you know things are really difficult to explain when it relates to the Canadian embassy in Nigeria. I am of the view that you try your best to make sure that it gets to them. What I did was to apply that my transcript be sent to my office. They sent it to my office and I removed it from the envelop and included it in my application. For the Canadian embassy, make sure everything they ask for you give them. Better to be over prepared, than to be under prepared. In the alternative, you could for example state that you need it for employment purposes and ask that it be sent to a particular address where you can then pick it yourself. I am almost 100% certain they did the verification at my school. Some of my friends in school doing ICSA, for example asked the school to send theirs to the ICSA office and they picked up their transcript from there. Wishing you all the best. @nedureg01 How far NED? Any news from the Canadian embassy yet? |
@ Mega: sorry for the delay, I have sent the no. Have a restful weekend. God bless you. |
@ Delta, Thanks for ur ever useful advice. I really am obliged. God bless u. I look forward to meeting u someday, |
Good Morning, I have another question. Me and my several questions. Please pardon me. My question is as follows: My visa is in the Student category. However it is valid for just 2 months. There is however an accompanying letter, which states that when I get to Canada I would be issued with a study permit. My question therefore is: when the 2 months visa expires what would happen? Is the study permit a travel document? Or if I want to come to Nigeria in December for example, would I need to apply for a visa separate or would the Study Permit suffice? Thanks. |
Thanks Igb. and Ezin, thanks for everything, God bless you and I pray that the mercy and grace of God would continually be with you. May his presence never depart from your lives. I leave in a forthnight or so, |
Glory be to God, I have got my Study permit 2day. DHL, brought it to my office. I am so excited and grateful to everybody. Thank you everyone. I wish u all the blessings and guidance of the most high. Thank you. |
Any news from anyone. Interviews, medicals, visas etc. |
Believe it and put it in prayers, because I believe you would be given. I am almost certain they are just waiting for ur medicals. All is well. |
Thanks for your quick response.did she ask u to drop ur passport after the interview or had she collected it before the interview began. |
If its the same lady and she does not give you back ur passport, then the chances are that you would be given especially if two weeks after your documents have not been returned. If you won't be given, there is really no reason for them to hold on to your documents. Abi what do you guys think? |
All would be well by God's grace. Were you asked to go ahead and do your medicals? Did the lady look Nigerian with a heavy french accent? Did she tell you to drop your passport? What did she tell you? Any indications as to whether she was convinced or not? Was it only questions relating to finance she asked you? Am just curious. Greatest Lasuite, don't worry, keep praying. I probably met the same lady too. |
@ Mega ![]() kindly let me have your email addy and I would send it to you. God bless you. Debo: I would call at the embassy again exactly in the third week. Thanks to everyone, Wishing you the very best. |
Any news from anyone, still waiting O to receive the visa, LIVE! I hear it takes up to 3 weeks after medicals before issuance. Hope wont be twice that long like the initial wait. Wishing everyone all the best, |
@nedureg01: how far with your interview on July 25th, hope it went well. Kindly share ur experience with us. |
@Igb: I am convinced God has more brilliant plans ahead for you. Dont be despondent. He would work things out for you and his most sublime plans and will for your life would come to fruition. God bless you. |
I will keep in touch by God's grace. In fact I will give u a call 2morrow. Am grateful for the cncern. God bless u. |
