Because the fulanis and Tapa guys in Kwara bear yoruba names don't mean they are yorubas. That's the fulani logic/tactics to confuse the conquered aborigines. They did same in sokoto, gwandu, Katsina...to mention a few.
During my university days had these guys from ilorin with classical yoruba names but they told me openly that they're all fulanis.
Don't get me wrong I am not saying there are no Yoruba aborigenes in Ilorin, yes there are so many of them. But I can bet that if you are not from Ilorin you can't tell the difference between a fulani and a yoruba.

The only yoruba governor that has led kwara after the return of democracy was Mohammed Lawal. He wanted to install an Oba in Ilorin but the Ilorin people rejected it vehemently and denied him his second term.

You are confusing Ilorin with Kwara state. Ilorin was controlled by the Sokoto caliphate when the British came but not all the present day Kwara State. Those other places in Kwara have their obas which were restored after the fight back from the Yoruba aligned forces. But they were unable to recapture Ilorin.

All past Kwara state governor has Christians wife, including the incumbent. Ilorin is not so different from any Yoruba town with a Muslim majority. Ilorin act and behave like every other Yoruba that practices Islam.

The bolded above is not true. There are many Yorubas in Southwest that practice Islam and don't act like the people of Ilorin especially. e.g the mode of dressing, Islamic first and surname et all.
