Nemere2020:That number is guaranteed to swell further with the impending defection of Senator representing Kaduna South, Sunday Katung, joining the APC any moment. Then, APC will see its ranks further rise with the soon to be made public defections of Governors Agbu Kefas, Duoye Diri, Caleb Muftwang, Abba Yusuf and Simi Fubara respectively. Governors Dauda Lawal, Ahmadu Fintiri & Ademola Adeleke will eventually dump PDP (the latter likely to do so after his reelection) but while Lawal may likely want to join the ADC, the others may likely join the ruling party. |
What manner of information dissemination is this? "Over a bowl of amala", "got off the phone"... Between Bwala, Onanuga & Dare, I don't even know which one is better. |
Lol. It's not so difficult to spot a sponsored writeup when you see it. To Monye and others like him who hold this view, Wike isn't going anywhere anytime soon especially not b4 the next general elections. The people who desperately want Wike to be dropped from the FEC or for his relationship with PBAT to go sour aren't doing so because of their love for Nigeria or the President; they know a rift or public spat between both public figures only advances the interests of their own paymasters and nothing else and to their disappointment, both men will work together for as long as necessary. |
Majority of Nigerians are living below the poverty line so, there’s that. Then, any reforms that doesn’t translate to bringing down the cost of living (prices of food stuffs, services, transportation etc.) would be deemed to have failed no matter what the stats are saying. nairavsdollars: |
This government and previous ones before it have been too irresponsible. How can a union give ample strike notice yet, they’ll not arrest it immediately by having negotiations until they finally embark on strike? On this, I’m with ASUU. I hope they don’t call it off until all their demands are met to the “T”. The APC-led FG under PBAT is trying in some areas in the education sector (NELFUND, accountability in public varsities funding, payment of backlogs of some ASUU arrears, off-grid power supply for public varsities, the ongoing transition of public/FG schools owned from blackboards and magnetic boards to digital interactive boards etc.) but their inability to properly, timely and adequately fund the education sector is sickening; their profligacy makes this even more worrisome. The funds they’re releasing for constituency projects, foreign trips, ego “legacy projects” & so on should be channeled to more important sectors like education and healthcare. |
Wike’s enemies are working overtime especially through the media. As we gradually approach 2027, I expect more of these types of reports to spring up. |
Sometimes Sahara Reporters behaves as if they're a media organization run by confused kindergartens. The same organization some few days ago correctly broke the news that barring any last minute surprises, the President would present Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Prof. Joash O. Amupitan's name to the National Council of State as nominee for INEC Chairman. Now, this report is saying nominating an INEC Chair wasn't on the council's agenda at all; flip flop reporting? Sahara Reporters wants badly a spat between PBAT & Wike, and in its desperation to present a false perception of trouble between the duo, it forgot that FCT Minister isn't a member of the Council of State so all this allegation of "boycott" because one purported favoured candidate expected to be nominated for INEC Chair was jettisoned for another, is hogwash. For avoidance of doubt, the Composition of Council of State (Nigeria) is as follows: 1. President, who is the Chairman 2. Vice-President, who is the Deputy Chairman 3. All former Presidents of the Federation and all former Heads of the Government of the Federation 4. All former Chief Justices of Nigeria 5. Current President of the Senate 6. Current Speaker of the House of Representatives 7. All the Governors of the states of the Federation 8. Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation |
Lol. Believe this report at your own peril. FCT Minister will continue to hold his monthly media chats in spite of this purported ban by the Presidency. |
Lol 😂 even the coalition chieftains know that the man has lost steam; whatever made him appealing to Nigerian voters has begun to clear from their eyes small small and this isn’t even 2026 yet (a full calendar year before the next general polls) where major political alignments and realignments will be taking place. If he actually held the aces as his most ardent believers would want the rest of Nigerians to believe, the ADC wouldn’t even be contemplating throwing their presidential ticket open, they’d just hand it to him on a platter. Worse still is they’re not even going to consider him for the running mate position to galvanize their support base because they’ve done the maths and concluded that his addition won’t make a difference to the ticket. On a slightly different note, what if the coalition people (working with forces with immensely deep pockets) “chop” Waziri’s money & instead vote GEJ in an open primary? My only disagreement with this line of thought is if GEJ were to contest again, he’d most likely do so on the platform of PDP. |
You know exactly what’s going on. Declare all the state of emergency you want, it won’t solve anything if the people themselves aren’t willing or ready to let it end. Using the Rivers emergency as an example (not the same factors but the processes towards restoring peace are all the same), until all the political actors involved came to the negotiation table to iron out the terms of their reconciliation. Similarly, until the victims of this insurgency sit down among themselves and agree that enough is enough (there are still willing collaborators among them who give the insurgents information, support them with logistics, withhold information to security agencies for reasons best known to them & above all, stop breeding children they can’t care for like rats), we’ll keep going around in cycles. onuman: |
It usually feels like a bad dream to me that I wish I could wake up from when most Nigerians who once occupied some of the highest, most powerful & influential positions of authority in the land always seem to find their voices or have solutions when they’re outside the corridors of power. A case in point is the excerpt from Gen. Lucky Irabor’s memoirs quoted in this report. A fine military officer par excellence & gentleman; a modern military chief, tacit, well-trained, intelligent, battle-tested & highly respected among his peers locally & internationally. However, his submission that there was lack of a political will to declare a state of emergency towards ending BH is hypocritical to me. For crying out loud, he was Nigeria’s topmost General as CDS for at least two years during which we first heard his C-in-C coin the phrase “technically defeated” in reference to the war against insurgency. While two years or even 8 years may not be enough to totally eradicate insurgency, it was never heard during his tenure as CDS that he proposed a state of emergency as part solution - not even a whisper of that was attributed to him. While the insurgency is multifaceted in nature, there can’t be any lasting/permanent solution without the people (who have being victims of the insurgency themselves) willing to put an end to it first, before any political or economic solution. |
Whatever little gains made by the Army under the late COAS, Taoreed Lagbaja, appears to have been reversed by his successor, whose name I can’t even recall. Man is just big for nothing; no action! Bobloco: |

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved.’ It’s well with Tiwa! |
Well, you’ve a point there about the farmers being engaged in a venture but if history is anything to go by, this NELFUND won’t be any different. You remember how many people also thought the NIRSAL Covid “loans” were a grant until their accounts started getting debited? Where I think this NELFUND will be slightly different is beneficiaries now don’t start paying back until they’re gainfully employed; if they don’t pay back especially if they’re later on employed and receiving salaries, it’s just to place an auto-debit on their accounts using BVN that way, DSS or EFCC won’t even have to be involved. Most of these incidences of hospitals rejecting or wasting time attending to victims of medical emergencies is because of a lack of proper medical insurance. I don’t know how it works abroad but methinks having a universal health insurance coverage that can be of use in any hospital across Nigeria is very important now more than ever; you simply present at the medical facility closest to you ICOE, provide your insurance number (that’s unique to you), get treatment covered by your health insurance and thereafter, the hospital reconciles the bill with your HMO - case closed! The current practice where your health insurance (for those under HMO/NHIS) is tied to a specific hospital or treatment is delayed especially if you’ve never been registered in that hospital before the emergency & you or the person that took you to the hospital has to first register, make a deposit then get a card in your name before treatment commences or while treatment commences is archaic and should be done away with. May Sommie’s soul rest in perfect peace! |
I doubt it’ll be waived ooo. Go ask farmers of the ABP under the Buhari administration; most of the beneficiaries (majority of the beneficiaries are from the North) thought it was a national cake something that won’t be repaid. To their chagrin, the current admin is following them on recovery of those loans bumper-to-bumper. Those in the know will tell you how the case began with the DSS & is now currently with the EFCC; every day, they’re being called one by one to Abuja to extract commitments from them on how to pay back. AJSfan: |
Impressive numbers but can be better. I like how the North doesn’t joke with any FG interventions/programs unlike most of their southern counterparts who treat such with skepticism. Kudos to the FG on the NELFUND initiative; the cycle will be complete when there are jobs available for the millions of unemployed graduates roaming the streets. |
ogododo:The thing about politics devoid of principles & personal convictions is that ordinarily, this type of stinging statement by Mr. Bayo Onanuga would've been torn to shreds by men like Reno Omokri but alas! Mr. Omokri is now dining on the same table with Mr. Onanuga so, his mouth is busy. |
Zagazola is a highly credible outlet on security, SPECOPs & COIN issues especially in the North (incl. countries bordering the North) so I wouldn’t doubt this his report. However, the problem is should the AES nations (Mali, Burkina Faso & Niger) release the names of these purported Nigerian sponsors of banditry, it’ll quickly be politicized or the military junta in those countries accused of plotting to destabilize Nigeria. Either ways, they should release the goddamn list so that we can all rest; we’ve been hearing of this “list” of sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria since the late PMB admin but till now, that list has never seen the light of day perhaps it’s time for other people to help us do it. |
Amazing. I truly wish them all the best. The more quality options of private universities for many secondary school graduates to choose from, the merrier. greatiyk4u: |
Once (sometime in 2020) I passed by this school while traveling to Uyo & was really impressed. Although the structures were still being built at the time, it wasn’t difficult to tell that they were building something massive, solid and lasting. I can still remember how the perimeter fence stretched for a long distance as I drove past. |
Let the people’s votes count, that’s all that matters. Whether you’re an Obidient o, BATist o, Atikulator o all we want is free, fair and credible polls devoid of political intimidation, financial inducements & ethno-religious rhetorics. |
Lol. I almost had an aneurysm trying to understand the grammar of this “quarry letter”. It’s well! |
I don’t believe anyone let alone Nigerian Government, is after Omoyele Sowore. He steps on toes, riles the seemingly untouchables in Nigeria up, has access to information and sources that government officials would wish he never had, cannot he bought, not afraid to stand up to oppressors & definitely not afraid to be a lone voice etc. but if the things he has been saying, doing or publishing via Sahara Reporters was actually a threat to the establishment, they would’ve taken him out a long time ago. The fact he’s still able to walk, move around & mingle freely in Nigeria especially, is evidence enough that nobody is after him. If they (Nigerian Government) were to be truly after him, they would’ve gotten him. If in doubt, ask DH, MNK & SE among others. DH knew that his life was sought by the establishment, he fled Nigeria and has since remained a refugee because he was a real & direct threat! MNK was a real, potent & direct threat and even though he managed to flee after an attempt was made on his life, they were able to successfully extradite him back - even though illegally. SE was becoming a threat in a far away European country, yet they were able to deploy diplomatic as well as back channels to get him. Like Dr. Joe Abah would say, “after God, fear Government”! So, Mr. Sowore should rest assured, no one is after him at least, not the Nigerian Government. |
“Ayomiposi”, what a name! Her parents gave her such a meaningful, beautiful name even that it’s meaning ought to elicit more joy but she made the decision to choose anguish instead - by her words & actions. May we not bear and raise children that will make society ask us questions that we won’t be able to provide answers to. |
Lol. PDP house of commotion. No wonder His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, Executive Governor of Enugu State is finalizing his plans to dump the party. Just like Governor Umo Eno stated during his defection to APC, it's political suicide for any public office holder on the platform of PDP who desires to seek reelection to continue to remain in the party; Damagum will say one thing, Anyanwu will say another. That's not a sign of a responsible political party! With all this their drama playing out with no end in sight, I expect more PDP Governors and other elected officials will begin to rethink their decision to remain in the party. |
Happy 71st Birthday, Papa!!! More grace! More anointing!! Greater strength!!! |
This was my response when I first saw the report on NL. You don’t need a trained eye to know that was a hatchet job. aylipple: |
Lol. Actually found your reply hilarious. Nonetheless, the scriptures are so accurate! No further response from me to you about this on here onwards. SeeWahala: |
TLTR: To those who go to another Person’s country, state or land and boldly pronounce it a “no man’s land” & when the natives kick against such erroneous labeling or vow to protect their traditional heritage/culture are further accused of bigotry or tribalism, I hope they’ll not pretend not to see or understand what the Japanese have just done. You don’t joke with or try to trivialize or erase a people’s history in the name of wokeness or civilization, it’ll always backfire. The Japanese Government was trying to be more civilized & accommodating by naming certain cities as “hometowns” for Africans but the people of those areas resisted it & now have “victory” with that designation withdrawn! |
